This is located in some hipster new Beaverton food hall. The place itself is just like a counter you order at. We got a chocolate cheesecake waffle, Monte Christo, and chicken and waffle. The cheesecake waffle was really good. The flavor was balanced and it was a good portion. But this is kinda where it ends? The Monte Cristo had such thick cut ham - it was basically a ham steak. That was the only flavor you could taste. In all fairness, my husband really likes ham steak so said it wasn't "too bad". It was also very dry. The chicken and waffle was sorta sad. Simple, fairly thin waffle (not bad flavor though, just more of the size and texture of an eggo waffle than a Belgian), but the chicken was the worst part. It was clearly day old, and they battered it again and then refried it. It was so much breading with barely any chicken. Like I had to rip off chunks of breading to even taste the chicken. And the breading was also black and burned in many places. When you finally got to the chicken (since I would say 50% of the size of the piece came from the amount of breading), the chicken was very dry. Now for the few bites of chicken I got with the waffle, as long as you added the maple syrup so chicken wasn't so dry, the flavor wasn't bad. It wasn't the best ever but it was edible. The problem was that you got maybe 6 bites of chicken out of the entire piece! The staff were very friendly and service was quick, which was nice. They gave us a punch card and said they double punch on rainy days, so that was a cool touch. I wouldn't be opposed to going back if I was in the area (wouldn't go out of my way to get here), I would just try other items. read more

Carnival food as good as it gets. While it seems like a novelty, the food is actually very good, not as adulterated as it could be and not as messy as I thought it was going to be while while ordering. Definitely one of those unique places with a very inventive menu. read more

I love a good waffle and this place that and more! The classic chicken and waffles is sooo good. The owner even had some bourbon syrup for the holidays to go with it. Delicious. The owner at the front taking orders was super friendly and the food was amazing. The Macdaddy sandwich, the country fried steak, and the 3 for $5 waffle sticks were all super tasty. We also got the fried Mac and cheese balls and they were so cheesy and crispy. Overall super amazing experience, if I lived closer I would frequent this spot. read more

I absolutely love their cheesecake waffles and french toast. Their batter really is the best I've had. But sadly, I've had bad experiences with them entirely forgetting a piece of my order (usually the coffee) and having to make it on the spot. Nice owner and friendly staff, but staff can just be forgetful. Wouldn't usually take a star off for something so trivial but with the waffles getting soggy waiting for something to be made entirely it's a bigger deal than I would like. I'll still never go anywhere else though for waffles, I'm spoiled here read more

Indoor food truck options with two other vendors make this a fun spot to casually drop in with friends and enjoy what you want. My breakfast was fine. I really liked the coffee and the service. It's run by very nice people. It's also a good spot for a group. read more

Did I just eat a waffle made of mac n cheese? Hellz yeah I did. Outside the box concepts, love it! Sandwich came with bacon and sour cream. Mac and cheese could have used some more salt and cheesiness but I dig what's going on here. Waffle fries were nice and crispy. Foood coming out was a little slow. read more

I was very happy to find they were open on Memorial Day. We took my son's family including two young grandkids out for an early outdoor breakfast. We ordered the waffle on a stick for both grandkids. My 18 month initially was upset that she didn't get a big person waffle but once she tried it she was a happy diner! Wow, just wow...Speechless or type-less? Stopped in and Amber had recommended I go with a chicken fried steak. I am a self admitted chicken fry snob and this hand breaded to order, extra tender (cuts with a plastic fork and knife I'm talkin here) and fried golden to perfection steak was absolutely tops! Waffle was a delicious cloud, eggs perfect over medium and gravy hitting all cylinders. Not to much flour and the perfect amount of pepper for a little bite. I just ate the most fantastic chicken & waffles. My mouth is watering for more. I cannot even tell you how perfect this dish was. We went to the indoor location, and loved it. It shares seating space with a few other small windows, sort of like an indoor food cart place, but maybe 3/4 others were closed so it wasn't crowded. It was very clean and had bathrooms available. The gentleman running the booth was very kind, he gave recommendations when asked and was very pleasant. I ordered the waffle corn dog, the pizza waffle, and the cinnamon dessert waffle on a stick. I think that you got 3 for $5? Something close to that, very fair prices. My friend had the pizza waffle, the red velvet, and the chocolate. They came out nice and hot and truly were very tasty! I would definitely visit again, the parking is street parking which is annoying but I'd deal with it again. It was a great experience and great prices. read more

I had been eyeing this little row of "food carts" for about a month now, and finally made it in to try something on Saturday evening. It's a nice location and if you aren't diggin" waffles, they have other options. But I was all about the waffle sandwiches. All of their menu items sounded really good and I was having a hard time deciding, so I asked the chef (maybe owner too?) what the most popular sandwich was and he suggested the MVP or the Mac Daddy...so we went with his suggestions-- he sold us on the bacon sausage in the MVP and the fact that he melts the mac n cheese into the waffle batter on the Mac Daddy. Sounds amazing, right?? Well, it was. I am looking forward to going back and trying some of the others, as well as filling my punch card...which they punch 2x if you come in on a rainy day! read more

Stumbled upon this gem during lunch, and I am so glad I did!! The owner was so friendly, and the food was incredibly delicious. I ordered the Ace, which was simply put together with bacon, eggs and cheddar cheese all of which was between two slices of perfectly toasted waffles. YUMMMMM. I also got their mac n cheese balls. Who knew heaven was deep fried and came with marina sauce! I love that the food wasn't that greasy either!!! Which was awesome. Probably the best biscuits and gravy I've had in Portland. They were flavorful. Fluffy. Savory. My only issue was that my 2nd biscuit was slightly burnt on top. Luckily I had time to scrape around the little burnt piece and finish the meal. The gravy was amazing and you can taste decent chucks of the bacon-sausage in it. Life changing. Little things like that make a difference. However I am ready to come back for more. I'm just a little stuffed. read more

Stopped in for breakfast here with my family. The service was great, wait was very short, wasn't very crowded, and the food was incredible! You can tell a lot of heart goes into making the food. This March's special of banana foster waffles is a must try! I wish they gave a slightly, larger of scoop of vanilla ice cream but, everything else just tastes "a m a z i n g". The waffle is light and fluffy to perfection, service was quick too as it wasn't too busy. I've lately been on a banana binge on desserts the last couple days and was looking for dessert around town after dinner AND craving waffles, so seeing this on the menu I had to try it. It was my first time trying anything on their menu, and I was satisfied. I will be coming back again soon to try out their savory options and the lemon blueberry waffles. read more

Delicious! Arrived at about 9:00 on Saturday and didn't wait. I had the MVP and personally didn't absolutely LOVE the baconsausage, but the rest was delicious! The waffle fries were so good! Fun little spot near our Airbnb, it's in a tiny little food court type stop that we decided to try for brunch. The chicken fried steak with POTATO WAFFLE and over easy eggs was the star of this meal. What? A waffle made from mashed potatoes! Never had such a thing, and it was delicious. The MacDaddy waffle sandwich was also very good, the waffles are pressed mac and cheese with bacon, sour cream, green onions, and more cheese in between. Coffee's good too! read more

Cool place 2 restaurant , coffee stand and maybe a bar share one bigger space. The guy owner/cook made my waffle monte christo sandwich fresh. Big thick cuts of turkey and ham - yum! The side of strawberry jam was odd to me I used a bit not bad. Ordered a Cuban to go for hubby it was good too. History

Established in 2013.

Batter Up started out as a little food stand at the local Farmer's Markets. We are very excited to now be serving our delicious Waffles and Waffle Sandwiches, burgers and dogs and a full service bar at the LaScala Food Hall in Beaverton (on Lombard side between 1st and 2nd). We also serve Smoothies and Espresso.

Meet the Business Owner: John R.

John and Julie Robinson are the owner's of Batter Up waffles and waffle sandwiches. John and Julie are both foodies that love what they do. They are always looking to improve on the menu and offer selections that you'll love. We are the only ones that have baconsausage (bacon ground into the sausage, I know, right?). We got lucky and scored two seats at the bar and only waited about 15 minutes on a very busy Saturday evening. There's free street parking all around, but keep in mind the neighborhood is popular and busy. You might circle a bit before snagging a spot. Indoor and outdoor seating is available.

I ordered chicken and waffles that looked wonderful, the person I ordered from told me that the waffle stuck a bit to the bottom of the waffle maker so they had another waffle being made for me and it would be out in a second. I looked at the "stuck" waffle and it looked great still so I told them there was no need for a second waffle, the person just smiled and said it was already being cooked. Like, I'll come back again and again for those. And they didn't charge me extra for the avocado, which I think is righteous because I asked for no hash browns. But not all places would do that, they'd nickel and dime even if you passed on one side for another.
