Bryan gave a call before showing up, and when he got here spent a good hour doing an inspection (rat in crawlspace). Was very thorough, and gave the whole house exterior and crawlspace a good once over. Because he couldn't find a point of entry during the first go round, he did it again and finally found what we suspect is the culprit - I would have ever found it. This is my first Yelp review, but BARS is entirely due one from me. After having dealt with two other general pest control companies for a month and half to address our home's recent "mice" issue, we started to notice the droppings in the garage grew larger, and then to my disgust the droppings were soon under my kitchen sink, stove and in the back of a couple of cabinets. Worse, we started hearing scratching in the walls. Despite the regular trap check visits and pointing out exterior vents we may want to block with hardware cloth, the exterminators we're getting the job done... and things were only getting ridiculous. We were not sleeping, spending wee hours randomly blocking with hardware cloth every square inch of our home, and still heard scurrying (argh)! I saw Bay Area's Yelp review, and figured we probably should just work with a company whose focus was rodent extermination. Stanley said they no longer serviced our area (too far north from their San Jose territory), but Debbie - my angel - heard the desperation in my voice and Brian was scheduled to conduct an inspect the very next day. Right as rain, Brian spent about two hours checking the house top to bottom, and given the case, scheduled a full rat proofing, attic and crawlspace cleaning, and insulating. We're now two weeks post-cleaning so maybe a bit premature, but I sleep at nights, there haven't been any new trap kills in over a week, and quiet in the wee hours is bliss. It was pricey - ask for the Yelp discount - but if you're living through my hell, you know the peace of mind is worth the cost. Early hooray for BARS - thanks so much! read more

I needed a second opinion about a rat problem I have under our house. I called them up based on their Yelp reviews. Bryan came out the day after I called, even got there early, unheard of right? He couldn't have been nicer and more knowledgeable. After crawling under the house and confirming what the other company had found out, he also gave me some suggestions on some other problems he discovered under there. Since I'm under warranty with the first company I didn't need Bryan to do any work for me, but when I asked how much I owed for his inspection, he said it was no charge! Come on, how great is that? Like I say, I didn't have any actual work done by the company, but based on their promptness and knowledge, I wouldn't hesitate to call them out if I needed them for something else in the future. Bryan was terrific and did a careful inspection of our house and gave me an excellent explanation with photo documentation about what needs to be done. The clean-up sanitation workers were also good, but I found the crew not as thorough as I would have liked them to be, as, to my disappointment, I saw some remaining areas that were not cleaned and still had dropping. The proof will be if they indeed blocked out all the rodents from the house. We hope so and will know this in another 6 weeks or so. read more

I really wanted to be able to write a good review since my first impressions with Bryan when he did the original design and estimate were excellent. We were getting our house in unincorporated Santa Cruz county ready to go on the market and needed our rodent problem addressed. I no longer live in the residence, and heard some bothersome things about the unprofessional crew that showed up to block the entry points. I took it under advisement but became really concerned when rodents were still being trapped six weeks after the entry points were blocked. The painting contractor doing interior work definitely saw entry points that had not been blocked, so we called and asked for someone to come out. The field crew arrived and when they were on site admitted that one area that was blocked had a bad design since there was a two inch gap and the blockage denied access to the main water shut off. The field crew later reported to the main office that we had violated our warranty by the work we were doing in the **interior** of the house (we have a painting and sheetrock contractor). The main office sent an email stating they had to come out and bid work on resealing the entry points. At this point, I am beside myself. Alan and his crew were excellent. We had a team of seven working in our home from 9:30AM until 4:30PM non stop. Clearing out old insulation in two attics and a crawl space. Disinfecting and deodorizing all areas and installing new insulation. They then made repairs to the exterior of our home and interior for the attics where roof rats and/or squirrels might be gaining access to the attics. The team has a meeting prior to arrival so each member is aware of what he is to do and who he is teamed up with for the day. Each team member has a diagram of the property with notations of problem areas. They were extremely professional, organized, efficient, and polite. They left our home in spotless condition. This company did a terrific job cleaning and sealing off our attic. We had worked with another company for years that inspected regularly and tried to keep rodents out, without success. Bay Area Rodent came in and did a thorough inspection of the attic and crawl space and then showed me pictures of each section of the attic and all of the places where rodents were coming in. We decided to replace our insulation, which was soiled and even had a dead rat in the back of the attic. Bay Area Rodent assured me that they would safely remove all of the insulation and clean the attic, and put in new better insulation. They also did all of the exclusion work, and gave us a guarantee, so that we wouldn't be wasting our money on new insulation that just got dirty again. They were very polite and professional, they came on time, were very careful and clean, and got the job done. This job was not cheap, but I wouldn't expect it to be given the nature of the work and the guarantee. Bay Area Rodent Solutions is fantastic! I live in ~15 year old house on a hill in a semi-rural area. Although I have a concrete foundation, there were gaps were rodents and even larger animals were digging under the foundation. I could hear them underneath my house in the crawlspace, and in one area of the crawlspace there were numerous signs of rodent droppings. After calling several rodent companies, most of whom wanted to set up a regular service to trap and remove, I came across Bay Area Rodent solutions. What a pleasant surprise. Their customer service is outstanding and professional. Bryan came out and did a thorough inspection all over the property, pointing out several small holes between the foundation and the siding where a rodent could get in. Their solution was thorough but costly, and when the workers came later and left one part unfinished due to a misunderstanding of what was needed, Bryan promised to make it right and came out later and finished the most labor-intensive part of the job himself. Their cleanup of the old insulation was thorough. When I still noticed some new droppings after a month, Bryan reassured me that sometimes the mice take a while to die after the area is sealed. I set some electronic traps, caught the last 2 tiny mice, and since then (5 months now), I have had no signs of rodents anywhere. What a relief to have one final solution to solve the problem, instead of an ongoing hassle. Many houses have these holes, so Bay Area Rodent Solutions is the only way to go! We had a pretty serious rat problem in the basement and attic of our older 2 story home. I had done exclusion myself on a previous home but this house felt like it would be a challenge. Plus, our attic insulation was disgusting so I knew we'd need that cleaned out and replaced anyway. Our attic is pretty tough to access and feels like it's about 150 degrees inside so I decided to call in Bay Area Rodent. Bryan came out and I was immediately impressed with his knowledge and thoroughness. The bid also seemed high, especially since he said it would only take a day. But I bit the bullet and hired them. And they did a great, but not perfect, job. Thus 4 stars instead of 5. First, the job took two full days. The good news is it was very clear they weren't rushing and taking shortcuts, but still I would have liked to be able to plan for that in advance. Second, they did miss a few spots in the exclusion, and (at least in hindsight) they were very visible, large holes. We still heard rats in the attic after they were done. But again, good news - they came back promptly and patched up the openings carefully. One other observation: the crew appeared to really work well together and seemed in good spirits despite the oppressive heat and dusty dirty work. I think that's a sign the company treats its employees well which is important to me. read more

Received excellent service recently from Bay Area Rodent Solutions. Initial inspection visit was by Stanley, who gave us a thorough detailed plan and scope of work. It broke out into 3 main steps: Proofing the exterior of the house for rats, cleaning , removing debris and insulation (heavily soiled), sanitizing the entire attic prior to installation of new insulation. This was followed up by setup of baited traps to be monitored/ removed for 4 weeks period. Since the home is externally proofed for any new rodents, this is to bait & trap any that may were left in. After the initial week, one was trapped, going on 2nd week, with no further trapped. They give you a warranty of one year for the exterior proofing. The work itself took total of 2 full days. The service guys were fantastic in their customer service. Made me appreciate the amount of work required to protect us from new nesting and safeguarding our health. It really came down to peace of mind in getting the work completed, and convinced us that they are not only very knowledgeable in their field, but are reputable, honest company that delivers. read more
