Bayou Grille describes itself as a Cajun eatery. This caught my eye as I was craving some awesome Cajun food. When I walked in, I was struck by the different themes I saw. On one wall, there is a clear fishing theme. The second wall was dedicated to sports. The final wall, showed off their burgers. I was a bit confused because when I go to new places, I am interested in what that restaurant prides itself in. Online, bayou grille is a Cajun place. In person, it's a burger spot. I asked the waiter to give a recommendation. He stated that the country fried steak was the best on the menu. I ended up trying the grilled catfish and dirty rice. I wanted to try Cajun food. The food was okay. It wasn't bad by any means, but it wasn't anything to write home about. The catfish had good flavor and the dirty rice did as well. If I do visit again, I'd probably try a burger.

Grilled tilapia with mashed potatoes and fried okra

The service was wonderful and the food was decent. I was taken care of so well! I ordered the tilapia grilled with 2 sides of mashed potatoes with gravy and fried okra. The mashed potatoes were chunky and made well while the okra was a bit tought to eat. The tilapia was grilled to where it was still moist but the flavor was lacking slightly.

This was our first visit dining inside Bayou Grill. We all enjoyed our dinner. Service was good, food came out quick and hot and was very tasty. Great atmosphere, and look forward to returning. See pics of yummy food.

Shrimp and crawfish with fries, dirty rice and cajun corn

Located on the east side of Pearland, close to Friendswood, sits this hidden gem. I've had it bookmarked for awhile and recently got invited to dinner here. It is a cozy restaurant in a strip center with a couple of other eateries. When we arrived, there was only one other table occupied. Usually that makes me nervous, but this place proved me wrong. Soon after sitting, and by the time we left, the place was packed. Our waitress was excellent and we got great service throughout dinner. I was in the mood for fried seafood, so I went with the fried shrimp and crawfish combo. It came with two sides, so I chose fries and dirty rice and added Cajun corn. The shrimp and crawfish were seasoned great and was fried to perfection. The sides were tasty but the portions were kind of small. I did leave slightly hungry. My wife ordered crawfish and added corn, sausage, and potatoes. I did not have high expectations for the crawfish, but it was so good and had the heat level we love. The sausage was nice and meaty and a great addition to the crawfish. My daughter had popcorn shrimp which had the same seasoning as my shrimp. Now the show stopper out of all our meals was my son's meal. He ordered a regular cheeseburger with a side of buffalo fries. Let me tell you, that burger surprised us all! It was seasoned perfectly and sat on a delicious bun. My only complain was that the specialty fries were and additional four bucks. For that much, I expect a side plate of fries that could be shared. All he got was a small handful of fries on the same plate as the burger with a little sauce drizzled on top. The price does not match up with what you get. Overall, this is a solid option if everyone in your party is torn on what to eat. Bayou Grill has variety and the food is delicious. Prices are great for the most part with a few exceptions. We will definitely be back.

    Crawfish etouffee
    On L.

Friday night arrived about 6:30pm. Not too crowded. Ordered and enjoyed medium sized crawfish etouffee. Crawfish were fresh and it tasted traditional. $6.99 and well worth it!

A burger my friend got, forgot the name but I remember that it had BBQ sauce on it or something like that... + specialty fries

Found this place from twitter and I decided to try it out since it was so close to my house. The portions are very large and you get so much food at such an affordable price! I got the catfish and shrimp platter with curly fries and mashed potatoes and my friend got a burger. My platter was very good, it came with so much food!! I couldn't even finish it and my friends helped me as well. My friend got the burger and although I didn't try it, she said that the burger was so good, if not better than Poptop burgers or one of those specialty burger restaurants. Not to mention this is a seafood focused restaurant!! The burger was only $8-9 and included a side which is such a good deal!!! The only downside is that they upcharged $2 for me to get curly fries when my friend noticed they tasted awfully similar to the great value frozen curly fries .... the other food was still really good though. The mashed potatoes had a lot of flavor, especially the gravy, you could tell they made it from scratch. Also the tartar sauce was bomb!! I will definitely be coming back to try more items. So glad to have found this good and affordable place so close to where I live!!!

My daughter suggested the lamb meatball and they were absolutely delicious. I wish you got more than two. The brown rice was good. Tried the black lentils for the first time which I like, although they were a little too hard for my taste. I also had what I thought were regular sweet potatoes but once I took a bite I realized they were Japanese sweet potatoes which I love. And the pita chips, wow! Delicious. I got the original and they were so flavorful and crispy. The pita bread that came with my bowl was delicious too. The price was fair for everything I got. I wanted to add some avocados but you know how avocados get when the air hits them and unfortunately makes them unappealing to the eyes. On the service side the staff was pleasant but when I mentioned it was my first visit, I was a disappointed that no one offered to walk me through how everything worked. I didn't want to assume. Nor did they ask what I might enjoy in order to make recommendations. They missed that opportunity. Nice atmosphere and just off Pearland Pkwy so easy to get to, and we had a pretty nice/helpful waitress to boot. The recipes were generally fine enough, though wouldn't recommend the lentil soup (very odd flavor for a Greek place). BUT. You may have left the restaurant a little hungry before - maybe you were especially famished walking in, or shared a little too much with your family. But have you ever ordered a side of potatoes and gotten...three slices (and a nub, thrown in as an afterthought)? I guess this is for the discerning customer who wanted the side, but not really? Thanks for making that discerning choice for me! Or maybe for someone that wanted that child-sized taster portion of potatoes. Oh but wait! For 5 bucks, you TOO can get "8 oz" of spuds in all its starchy glory. It's a shame - the fry job is done well. But given the midget handful of greens on the Opa bowl, I guess the economy is rough on all of us. Seriously guys, I don't think it used to be this bad guys. Fix your portions or fix your prices, sheesh.

First off, we feel like this location needs a bit of a deep cleaning and/or renovation. My husband and I were joking about the "sketchiness of the cleanliness" as we were pulling it. Joking they "toe the line" of "should we eat here or not?" Secondly, I ALWAYS get the salad bar. Always. The items haven't been fresh here. The biggest culprit has been the artichokes. I usually put a big ol' mound on my salad. The last 2x they have been FIZZY... which lends me to believe they are topping off old items with fresh items and it's never getting changed out/is old/fermenting. This particular visit, in addition to the fizzy artichokes, the sliced red bell pepper tasted off and the romaine lettuce was brown. (Sigh). I hope my salad stays down. My husband enjoyed his New York Yankee and luckily, this visit they correctly subbed his chips for "steamed veggies" like he asked. Last visit he asked for "steamed broccoli" and unknowingly the guy rang him up for a cup of broccoli cheese soup for an additional $5... we never went back up to get our money back and my husband didn't eat the soup. The kids always enjoy their meals: usually cheese pizza or pasta with meatballs and marinara. Then they gobble up ungodly amounts of the free ice cream. Today's visit, for whatever reason, the ice cream was extra "soupy" and so runny it couldn't even be put on a cone. The highlight was the girl at the register was friendly. It's getting to be hard to want to come back to this location. Might have to only treat ourselves to Jason's when we're out in Webster.
