I passed this location a number of times. Most recently I thought it was a kitchen cabinet maker rather than a restaurant. I guess it was a combination of the neighborhood being largely industrial and the signage which is kind of low key but architectural-ish. I think they should get a neon "EAT" sign and put it on top of the outside street signage. Earlier in the day I passed and the place was jammed for breakfast/brunch. Today, I was passing in the afternoon after 2pm so it was a little slow; I was looking for a quick bite, not knowing what to expect. The place is nice and neat outside. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by Diamond, who introduced herself and made me feel extremely lucky to choose Bayview Kitchen for a late lunch. Diamond was so welcoming and enthusiastic that I asked if she was the owner. I can give Bayview Kitchen 5 stars right here because Diamond really is a Diamond. You can't find people with that kind of energy and warmth easily. Bayview Kitchen is blessed to have her. Diamond seated me and directed me to the QRcode on the table so I could open the menu on my phone. When I started reading the menu, I felt like I missed out of breakfast. They do comfort food. I wanted to try the shrimp and grits or the fried chicken and waffles, but it was lunch. I chose the fried whiting with coconut rice and black eyed peas. It also came with fried bananas and steamed broccoli. I only drank the ice water and while I saw Tres Leche's Cake on the menu I had to skip desert because I had to get back to work. The presentation kind of blew me away. I wasn't expecting such a lovely plating, flower included. The crust on the fish was delightful. The fish was perfectly cooked. The rice and beans were nice as were the fried bananas. I didn't eat much of the broccoli because I like it a little on the soft side, but it was nicely seasoned. Diamond checked on me a couple of times and she was just all around great. I will try some of the other dishes in the future. I will also try to upload a pic of my plate. The wonderful fried whiting got me thinking they should try to fry some oysters or belly clams with that crust/breading. read more

My job had a holiday luncheon here, or if you couldn't attend lunchboxes to go were sent to you. I wasn't able to go. My lunchbox included rice, pasta, 2 pieces of shrimp, salmon, chicken, slaw and sweet plantains. I enjoyed almost everything. The salmon was my favorite of all the protein. It was nicely seasoned and nicely cooked. Shrimp and chicken had good flavor. Rice was just okay, and I wasn't a huge fan of the pasta. Slaw and plantains were good. Overall, I enjoyed my lunch. At this point my family and I are regulars here. Chef Jahsh is so welcoming to all his guests. He makes sure to visit every table and greet everyone. I went here for breakfast and I will definitely be back to try there lunch and dinner menu. I got the jerk shrimp and grits that were spicy creamy and delicious Wifey got the Belgian Waffles with fruit and cream and she said it was cooked perfectly and very good. We both got a side of sausage patty that also was very tasty. And to top it off the hospitality from the waitresses was outstanding they made you feel right at home. One of the best restaurants I have been to in Long Island. The restaurant gives you an island vibe. It played Caribbean music and some old reggae hits. The restaurant is nice to eat inside and they also have outside dining. Price is $$. I paid $100. A bit unassuming but, this place is poppin'! Literally, these are some of the nicest staff around. Everyone's willing to talk to you like an old friend. Our waitress was even kind enough to take a photo of us in front of the mural. We ended up getting a variety of food. I got chicken and waffles with a mango frose. The chicken was incredibly tender and flavorful. The waffles, soft and sweet, and the scotch bonnet syrup was so wonderfully complex! The frose was that hard and sweet drink needed to keep you cool. There were absolutely no complaints from my table at all. And once again, service was amazing. A couple of ladies at my table ordered a combo drink not the menu and the staff was more than willing to accommodate. Parking is a bit strange at this location but do not let it deter you from coming! A must eat if you find yourself looking for a nice weekend brunch. read more

I live about 10 minutes from here and I've always passed by wanting to try, finally went in yesterday and this place is absolutely amazing. First I got to listen to old school R&B music that I haven't heard in so long. The staff were super friendly and offered suggestions to eat. Tried the house special chicken and waffles and the breakfast sandwich. It was absolutely delicious. I don't think I can ever go to another place to have breakfast ever again after tasting this food. Bayview Kitchen is a nice addition to the neighborhood. It's small, so not sure how long a wait could be if crowded, but luckily when I went, I was seated right away. I tried this place out for Sunday brunch. I ordered the chicken and waffle entree and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it. The chicken was boneless and seasoned well and the waffle was good too. It was brunch, so of course I had to get a mimosa. Honestly, I was better off just ordering OJ because that's what was mostly in the glass - juice. The service was okay. Recently, I ordered take-out at this restaurant. Although the customer service was excellent as mentioned in other reviews their food was not. This is my 2nd time at this restaurant once pre-covid (drinks) to support this black-owned business & more recently (food + drink) because of the great reviews. I am a pescatarian so I know some times the price of a fish meal can vary, however my bill was $45 including my drink. I do not mind spending $ on food yet This price did not reflect in quality food. Brown-stew Snapper: Ive been eating snapper alot lately and this snapper just simply was not it in terms of size. I suggest the chef put (2) pieces of snapper because of the size of the ones they have are very small for the listed price. The brown stew sauce was more of a glaze. I did, however enjoyed their version of the brown stew sauce. I suggest more sauce. Coconut rice: The coconut rice was the main dish in my opinion (huge portion) and it had a strong taste of coconut milk and was very mushy. I couldnt eat the rice any longer. I suggest less coconut milk and to watch the rice more carefully. Cabbage/Carrots: The cabbage and cabbage had an interesting taste to it and it was more of a slaw. read more

This is the second time I have been here. This time, I came to explore their dinner menu options. I had ordered the Holy Trinity Frose as I did prior when I came for Brunch. My guest had ordered the Bayview Rum Runner. One thing about their drinks, they SERVE a great amount to be content with just one. Their drinks are also so good that you'll find yourself ordering a second or third. *Please look a the beautiful presentation of each dish For Dinner, we ordered Ms. Dina's Stewed Oxtail which comes with two sides, so my guest chose Sweet Plantain and Coconut Rice and Peas. The story Chef Josh shared about his late grandmother's recipe was very touching. The oxtail were perfect, especially for Long Island, it is very hard to find delicious, well seasoned West Indian dishes. This one did not disappoint at all. Not one oxtail was over-filled with fat, all meat that melts in your mouth along with the depth of spices that make you feel like you're on the Island of Jamaica in someone's home. Butter beans are paired with the oxtail which is also much needed for the dish to maintain its decadence. The Coconut Rice and Peas were perfectly executed-I almost ordered a side to go! Sweet Plantain? PERFECT. London Bishop was a perfect medley of flavors: Jerk Chicken, Sweet Plantain, Lettuce all paired with their own BBQ Sriracha Sorrel sauce. Let's just say this also took my breath away. Usually when ordering a wrap you don't expect to encounter so many layers of flavor and this delivered every expectation and more. The Jerk Chicken wasn't too spicy which sometimes you do come across that issue around Long Island, but this one? PERFECT as well. Everything married properly, and I am so grateful to have eaten from this dinner menu. I have also attached their Belgian Waffle and Turkey Sausage from their Brunch menu from the first time I had came here. Waffle was cooked perfectly, no sogginess or over-cooked rubber texture-light and fluffy. They make their own Scotch Bonnet syrup which definitely took the waffle to another level. Their eggs are also scrambled perfectly, not too wet and not overcooked. I have to thank Chef Josh and his staff at Bayview Kitchen for the two lovely experiences. I grew up in the area and feel pretty confident in saying that this particular corridor of the south shore is not known for its cuisine... so I was really excited to discover that we have a solid new restaurant in the neighborhood. Had dinner here with my family on a Saturday evening; the dinner menu is limited to a few items- two seafood dishes and one beef dish- but there are additional off-menu specials. Something awesome that I noticed right away was that the salmon and shrimp on the menu are specified to be wild-caught. Salmon and shrimp are commonly farm-raised, especially the stuff served at more casual restaurants. (If you have never watched any documentaries or prime time news segments about farm-raised seafood, I will spare you the gory details, but in short, it's mostly shady and disgusting and can contain artificial coloring, antibiotics, etc.) So it seems like the folks at Bayview Kitchen must care a lot about the quality of their ingredients. Two of us (including me) had the curry shrimp, and two had one of the specials, an escovitch red snapper. Both were delicious. I am a curry junkie, and I loved the curry sauce on the shrimp; it has a little bit of a kick to it, but not too much, and is not overly salty. The grated/toasted coconut they sprinkle on top really adds to the flavor, too. The portions are generous, and we all basically stuffed ourselves to the point of barely being able to move, which was the only downside. The drinks were also good, the atmosphere is clean and unpretentious, everything is reasonably priced, and the staff are lovely. This is a place I can see us coming often. Next time will be for brunch to try the shrimp and grits everyone seems to be raving about. read more
