Stopped in for lunch after studying. Lunch specials end at 2pm. Pizza wasn't super fresh as it was sitting out but still tasty after being heated up in their oven. The best thing about this place imo is the location. Right on the Monon Trail, you could stop for quick bite during a family bike ride or walk. Bazbeaux is one of my favorite places to eat and it has been since the 90s. Their pizza crust is fantastic and the ingredients are fresh. They have a gluten free crust option. I recommend getting their house salad with Creamy Cucumber dressing. It is the bomb! They have outdoor seating at this location and it backs up to the monon trail. read more

We went here for lunch while at work and this place is fantastic. I got a slice of pepperoni pizza, salad, and a drink for a little over $6. The pizza is one of my favorites now by far. It was very cheesy and delicious. The salad was pretty big also. They also have a patio here that you can sit at eat. It is especially nice if you are a people watcher as the Monon trail passes right next to it, with plenty of traffic. I will be frequenting this establishment as much as possible. read more

Bazbeaux has won me over since moving to Indianapolis. Located along the Monon trail, this pizzeria has branded itself as a true local establishment. The interior is bright and airy along with an outdoor patio that houses more than a dozen four tops so you can take in the sights and sounds of Main St.. The fresh mozzarella plate should be a must order for anyone dining-in. After all, it's not available for take-out. I like to walk or bike to the restaurant, order the mozzarella plate and then take the pizza to go. I know riding a bike with a pizza box is hard to imagine, but I've got it down. Of course, walking is better because then you can order a bottle of wine and not worry about taking anyone out on the trail on the way home. The pizza is on the top of the list with Crust being neck and neck as my number one preference. I think Food Network's Food Wars needs to come to town and pose a challenge to the two top restaurants. But, I'll stop because this review is all about Bazbeaux. A nice blend of crispy and chewy, the crust serves as a delicious base to an array of toppings. Make your own or even ask your server to choose for you. I've done both and they are out of this world good. Service has always been excellent. So why four stars and not five? During the lunch hours Monday-Friday they don't have table service. It's all about ordering at the counter and grab an open spot. It reminded me of Sbarro's. I understand that the preference of the workforce wants a quick and suitable option for lunch, but at least make it an option to have a server. Overall, the best restaurant thus far on Main St.. Consistent and all about quality, Bazbeaux has me going back to an empty pizza box wanting more. read more

If you want shitty service, come here. We have given this place a few more tries than they deserve but we will never return again. We came on a Tuesday night, place wasn't busy. We asked to be seated at the bar, got 2 Cokes and waited 15 mins and nobody bothered to ask for our orders. One guy was standing by the cash register next to us, didn't bother to acknowledge us. The waitress who seated us passed by a couple times but acted like we weren't even there. I'm surprised they even got a 4 star. There are other great pizza places in town with superb service, this one is NOT it!!!! read more

I am a fan! As long as I can remember, my favorite food has been pizza. Because of this, I am a bit picky when it comes to pizza. I think I would eat just about any pizza, but for a pizza to get a "love it" from me, it has to be good. This one gets a Love It! We ordered a small cheese and a large cajun chicken. They brought us a large cheese and a small cajun chicken. The waitress knew it was a mistake and said to make up for it, she had a large cajun chicken being made for us. That was great! Many leftovers. I had pizza for lunch everyday for a week and at the end, I was sad to see it go. Someone on this post complained about the "cracker crust". This pizza is not thick crusts. The crunchy thin crust gives this pizza a bit of uniqueness. I like it! I wouldn't call it cracker, but I would say it is crispy. The pizza had good flavor and "reheatability!" I'd go here again (and hope they messed up) We also ordered the cheesy garlic bread. It was great. My only complaint is that we ordered this as a quick appetizer to get some food on the table. I expected the pizza to take some time, but thought the appetizer would be quick. It was about 20 minutes for the garlic bread to come out and another 10 for the pizza. I don't know if that is always the case, but you may ask on the appetizer if you want it quick (it was 5:00 on a Saturday - not very busy). I wouldn't let this stop anyone from going here. Just something to keep in mind. Beer - if you are a craft beer fan, they have many to choose from! I marked it as good for kids - I mean pizza? Has to be good for kids. They don't have the standard crayons / things to do for young kids. But, our waitress brought our paper and crayons for them the draw on - very much appreciated. It is lunch time now... Favorite spot in the Carmel Art District for patio sitting. Right on the Monon Trail. My husband and I love the "Award winning garlic bread" with cheese and colossus pizza. The pizza is thin crust so we feel like we are allow to starch up when we eat here :) The small house salad is a good portion and I enjoy the toppings (kalamata olives are one of my favorites). We also like the Stromboli sandwich which is large and definitely sharable. For something a little lighter I would go with the Fresh Mozzarella sandwich. VerdicTL;DR: Colossus? Maybe you mean the Colossus of Rhodes after it fell over. I first came to this place after reading an article about how "Indianapolis-style pizza" was supposedly developing, and how this place was one of the exemplars of this purportedly new style. The only problem is -- for all the pizza (both good and bad) I've eaten here in the Indianapolis region, there's nothing distinctive about it no matter where you go. Take Bazbeaux for instance. Their pizza is a classic Chicago-style thin crust, except so overloaded with toppings (even if the only topping is cheese) that the whole thing becomes difficult to eat. Square cut if 16-inch, pie cut if otherwise. There's at least 3x the necessary amount of cheese, and the sauce underneath is lifeless. If you happen to get their signature pizza -- the Colossus -- then you become instantly aware of the fate of the historical Colossus of Rhodes: snapped at the knees due to its own weight after an earthquake. And just as the Oracle of Delphi scared the authorities into not rebuilding it, may the Oracles of the Pizza Gods (should they exist at all) scare you into not attempting to eat it. The whole thing is so top-heavy that the cheese and the toppings just slide right off the crust. I do want to say this, though: service was fast, friendly, and despite the fact that I don't like this pizza much my kids (aged 6, 5, and 4) just love it. I just wish I loved it as much as my kids do. read more

Loved the outdoor seating set up and enjoyed the service! The pizza was decently priced and you get a good amount for your money, but I wasn't a fan of the crust it was too thin and burnt underneath. Also the proportion of toppings to crust were off, because the pizza was so top heavy that the crust couldn't stand it, so it was difficult to hold it in hand without it breaking. We did not have a great experience here. We ordered a glass of moscato, and then pizza. We like the moscato so much we ordered a carafe of it. But the waiter didn't let us know that they don't sell the moscato in carafe and only Chardonnay and few others so he just brought us Chardonnay. Once we realized that it was not moscato he wouldn't let us send it back, so we wasted $17 on wine that we didn't drink. Then getting attention was so hard, we had to ask for plates, we had to ask for silverware. It was frustrating given how much we paid for dinner. read more

Coming from a pizza skeptic - I can actually eat Bazbeaux. My skepticism comes from having trouble tasting anything covered by vast amounts of greasy cheese. Luckily, this time I could distinctly taste artichokes, olives, spinach and a dollop of ricotta cheese on Garden pizza and follow with a sip of a truly local microbrew. The kids laughed at foot-long strings of cheese when we were separating the slices, but did not care for thin crispy crust, so I got to happily finish the flaky browned edges. Well let me say I came to Bazbeaux on a hot summer day hoping to just catch a slice for lunch. After already having a hectic morning I was a little perturbed that I had to drive around the block to find parking. It's like if there is limited parking maybe post a message on your Facebook so I can plan ahead! Thanks! When I walked in, there was a long line. Which is a sign of a popular spot. At first it was a little confusing but I decided to give it a chance in hopes the pizza would be worth the wait. Maybe a rope or two would make it less confusing. As far the pizza it was delicious and the cheese temperature was actually perfect! One of the bonuses to BazBeaux is there dressing is all made in house that gives the restaurant a very homey feeling, like you're at grandma's for thanksgiving. I am a big bleu cheese on my pizza guy, and could see myself coming back just for the bleu cheese! Mostly I like to stick to my proteins and starches but I have to say the lettuce on the house salad was a tad wilted. I do think the lettuce to other vegetable ratio was acceptable. Uh! I always hate when there is only lettuce or even worse so many other veggies you can't taste the lettuce. Finally and maybe it's just not my style but the interior was painted in different pastel colors on every which wall. I always say pick a lane and stay in it. If you're not going to decorate you Italian establishment exactly like Vesuvio in the Sopranos I can't in good conscience give 5 stars. Sorry, not sorry!
