Bazbeaux is an Indy legend...yadda...yadda. We've all heard of these Indy legends, but seriously you are a DUNCE if you do not eat at Bazbeaux. When craving a pizza, and not just any pizza, Bazbeaux is the place to shove pizza right into your face. With almost any topping you can imagine, the Bazbeaux topping menu is akin to the walls at Applebee's, just chock full of tons of stuff. Let's be honest, I've never made my own pizza here. With all of the specialty options, I've never needed to. I enjoy the Genova with added goat cheese the most, but then again I'm a sucker for vegetables. The garlic bread is amazing, (make the Scott Pilgrim garlic bread joke here, it'll make you a better person), and I really enjoy the house salad with house vinaigrette. Ugh, I hate doing this because I've been a Bazbeaux fan for years. But the ball was completely dropped last night. Yes, we are in the middle of a pandemic and I plan on changing this review after. I really thought since this carry out ordeal has been going on since March, they would be better, but I was let down. But I want to give people who are considering them for carry out some advice. STILL GO but mind these experiences. We ordered 2 orders of garlic bread (one cheese bread and one pesto), a crab salad and Mexican pizza. We ordered at 5:20 and were told it would be 35-40 minutes. We arrive in Broadripple at 5:50. We call like we were told and get a busy signal. We call again and again. We finally come to the conclusion that they took it off the hook. There are probably 15 people milling around on the sidewalk (not great social distancing) and probably 10 more in cars. Someone comes around at 6:20 to ask for our name and tells us our order isn't ready yet because some orders are taking 45 min to an hour (mind you, we've been there an hour). Our food finally comes at 6:30. But only half of it is there. No bread. Which I would normally overlook but that was over $10 of the order. I go up to the curb and catch a worker to tell them. He brings it out 5 min later. We drive away and go park to eat like a picnic. Not a clue how this bread is "famous". It was hard as a rock with no flavor. It kinda looked like a toasted hot dog bun. Also, they forgot my dressing to my salad. Thankfully I ordered pesto with my bread so I used that. I got the lump crab salad. For $12, I expected more than 2 tablespoons of shredded crab. My boyfriend was content with his food though! He enjoyed the Mexican pizza with a hearty amount of toppings. His food looked better! So if you are getting carry out: 1. Order before 4 probably. There were others there who got there before us and we left before them... 2. Check your bag before they walk away. They practically ran away from us (so busy) but ask for a second to run down the receipt. You paid for it, so take that second. 3. Tip well! They are still risking their health for pizza. I will confess that during my last two Ironman races, to distract myself from the pain in my crooked feet, I have actually talked about what I planned to order and vigorously consume from Bazbeaux Pizza when I got back to Indy. If it's after racing 140.6 miles or just a lazy Sunday in Broad Ripple, Bazbeaux Pizza does no disappoint. Their unique pizza topping combinations are definitely unprecedented for a Midwestern pie, but there truly is a method to their madness. Don't be discouraged by shrimp on your pizza or untraditional veggies like eggplant. Don't forget to try the salads accompanied with homemade dressings. I would put the creamy basil and creamy cucumber dressing on everything I eat if I could. The Board Ripple location is great for people watching with ample outdoor seating right on the canal, both on the front patio and roof patio. While the roof patio is not accessible for individuals with handicap needs, there is ample, accessible seating on the front patio and inside. Parking is also a challenge especially on busy weekends in Broad Ripple. The service at the Broad Ripple location is always hit or miss. Even on a slower Sunday it can take a bit of time to get your drinks, refills and orders placed. On our most recent rendezvous with Bazbeaux, we noticed several folks waiting excessively long for the hostess to greet them while plenty of tables sat open. For me the pizza, salads and sandwiches get five stars time and time again. The service consistently performs at a 3.5 - 4 with service tending to slip the busier this location gets. Despite often long waits, I'll always return to Bazbeaux as their pizza call for me. It's an Indy institution and must have. read more

I think I've only actually sat inside Bazbeaux once, but I order take-out on a monthly basis. I love the quality toppings and variety of pizza choices. This is one of my go-to options when I have friends coming in from out of town or when I am just too tired to cook on the weekends. I came in with a very large party (over twenty people) on a Sunday. The service was what is to be expected when you have a large party, no complaints there. Three stars because, well, my pizza just didn't taste good. I ordered the BBQ chicken pizza with sun-dried tomatoes instead of green peppers. When it came out, there was very little flavor so I asked for a side of BBQ sauce - and the sauce was just weird. It's really spicy (well, at least way too spicy for me) and not sweet at all. I thought BBQ pizza presupposed sweetness - but this was not the case. I feel like this is the kind of thing you would mention on your menu: "SPICY BBQ sauce." I ate one piece and left the rest for when I got home and used some BBQ sauce I had at home to finish it. If I hadn't spent money on it, I wouldn't have finished it at all, though. Apparently, there were quite a few people in our party who didn't care for their pizza - and some who did. Ironically, the next day, one of my professors brought in Bazbeaux's pizza as an end of the semester treat for all of us. I tried the cheese pizza and, again, was really disappointed. I wish I could give Baz 10 stars! They have the best pizza in the world and that is not an exaggeration. I have been to both the downtown location and the Broad Ripple location, but this one is closer to our home. We come here often with friends and family, and love the cozy ambience along with the amazing food and drinks. The salads are always so fresh and flavorful, and the salad dressings are great too. My favorite is the house salad with blue cheese, and it might be the best blue cheese dressing ever. The cheese on this salad is shaved parmesan which is so different and lovely! For a starter, I recommend any of the cheese breads! They are seriously all great, especially the pesto. For pizza, my absolute favorite pizza is the Quattro Formaggio. The blend of cheeses on this are amazing, and the crispy bacon is a real game changer. For dessert, you can't go wrong with one of those delectable cookies! Wow they are delish! I love Bazbeauxs so much however I am now locators intolerant. The one thing that they do not carry is dairy free cheese. This leaves me left out of the yummy pizzas here. I beg you Bazbeaux please jump on the dairy free/vegan train and find a vegan cheese. Heck even my small shops in Brownsburg carry it. I did however get the crab salad without cheese. It was great. Another Indiana disapointment. I used to love this place. I am a pizza lover and have tried to find a "Decent" pizza in Indiana since my arrival in 2008. All I found was Pre-fab crusts with sugary sauce and cold toppings. Bazbeaux was the once place that had a great true pizza. Until....I went there last night ready for a true Pizza and what I got was a change. New cook? New Owner? I am not sure but the sauce tasted just like the rest of Indiana Pizza--Full of sugar. I thought I was eating a jelly donut with cheese and sausage. The crust tasted and looked like a pre-fab. Instead of good Itailian sausage chunks, crumbled sweet sausage spread thick over the entire pizza. I was very sad that my pizza place fell to the Indiana way of "everything needs a cup of sugar to taste better"! As I looked around I began to realize the place was empty for a Friday night. Should have been my first clue that this was not going to be good. I will say the service was fantastic as usual. I love the patio in the summer. I love the snowflake decorations in the winter. I love the way the place is looks in general. I love that I never run out of water and the servers are super attentive. And of course, I love the pizza. My favorite is spinach, shrimp, feta, on pesto, whole wheat crust, although I often branch out to other things. The only thing I hate? Eating here with a boring food person, who says "Let's just get pepperoni." THIS ISN'T DONATOS!!! A great spot for pizza. My friend and I went to Indy for a shopping trip, and we stopped here to fuel up first. Their pizza selection was excellent - I had a hard time deciding what to get, but I ended up with the Bazbeaux Special, which was absolutely loaded with garlic (which is great) and had a delicious crust. Not sure what the issue is. We usually go to mass ave but we were in broadripple this time around so we ordered a pizza to go. We ordered the usual large pepperoni pizza and a small Quattro. On Saturday night, we got a pickup order of a large 1/2 pepperoni, 1/2 margherita (tomato, basil, garlic, fontina cheese) pizza with a spinach salad and some oatmeal pecan cookies. The pizza was ok. The crust was very dry and slightly burned. The pizza probably would have been better if we went with a thinner white crust that was more moist. The salad was so-so, but the cookies were great. Despite how busy the restaurant was (a line of customers out the door), the servers were kind and they worked as fast as they could. The parking is lousy. There is a small parking lot next to the restaurant, but open spots are hard to come by. Prepare to park far away and walk there. If you're into exotic pizza toppings, Bazbeaux is for you. I don't think a pizza place can offer a wider variety of toppings than Bazbeaux does. It perennially wins the Best Pizza in Indy awards. Bazbeaux is a good restaurant, but when you look at all of the hype that it receives, I think Bazbeaux is overrated. read more

For example, since we had 3 hours before we needed to be at our next reservation up Carrollton street on a Freezing Rain kind of winter day, this place was great: they never rushed us, kept our beverages full, plenty of natural light, an okay & local beer menu, plus college sports on the tubes. of course the pizza menu is solid and very creative, but I was also pleasantly surprised by the creativity of their salad selection. Bazbeaux's gets me every single time I pass by their locations. The smell alone is enough to give it 5 stars. This is always a staple for when family and/or friends are coming into town. Everyone loves pizza, and Bazabeux's does a great job at accommodating for everyone, even kids! The standout about this location compared to others: the patios (yes, two)! The street level patio area is great if you're wanting to be outside but still want to be in a shaded area. The upstairs is where it's at though. It's a great view from above of the river and surround areas and it's just nice to be out and about above Broad Ripple. Yasss! My second time coming to this location was even better! I went with a large group of people (12 adults and 3 kids) and it was amazing. We went at 2:00pm, so it wasn't a busy time and we got excellent service! We had the party salad (get the house vinaigrette and creamy basil dressings!) and four pizzas! The pizzas we ordered were pepperoni, Greek, Quattro Formaggio, and Margherita! I don't eat meat, so I know the last three pizzas were all great! I love the Quattro Formaggio and Margherita! Like love! The only thing that wasn't amazing is the ranch dressing, but it's still ranch, so it's good lol. I also had the Chai brown beer and it was super fun!
