I'm a huge fan of Nordstrom Cafes in general. It's family friendly yet you still get high quality food. What I love most about the Fashion Island location is that it's full service and you can sit, order, and pay from the table. The staff was very friendly. This location has my favorite cilantro lime shrimp salad. They also have a crab avocado mango salad that's the bomb. Let me be clear, I'm not a salad girl! Y'all know I'm from the South! I love me some meat and carbs but this is one of the few places I'm all into the salad!! (The other place is La Sirena's chicken lime avocado salad - yes I obviously love lime!) Hands down my monthly indulgence that requires 5 star food scrumptious flavors, a chef that must enjoy being secretly hidden away to be discovered and my favorite 2 waiters, Austin and Jeff! What makes this place a hidden 5 star? Firstly, each menu item has the utmost care of flavors crafted to be "delicioso magnifique" to which their italian style cilantro chicken tacos becomes this craving that calls for an addiction to be tried each week! The crab bisque soup is perfectly comforting, balanced soup that isn't too thick nor watery and paired well with a toasted bread. Ironically, my 9 year old asks for their Prime Rib sandwhich which she has emphasized numerous times, "ooh, Lawry's restaurant and this, I cannot go wrong"! I look forward to this particular restaurant inside the bottom floor of Nordstrom's because it offers the ambience of indoor/outdoor dining whilst maintaining the class that Nordstrom's represents. Meanwhile, you have the most classy waiters there whom you can chatt with that makes eating at Bazille, relaxing amd wonderful to start, have and finish while eating. Unfortunately, since it remains a mall setting, with clothes in their surrounding circumferance, they cannot do birthday candles there for celebration due to safety hazards. I'm going to keep this one a little matter of fact rather than a story. I've always loved Nordstrom Cafe, but this one was a little underwhelming for the price. The location is a little strange on the first floor - but has a patio. We were seated without being offered the patio as an option, so we assumed it was closed to service. My mother was offered wine as the special which was $14/glass with was discovered after the fact. All in all the lunch turned out to be $60 with a tip. Largely in part because of the overpriced two glasses of wine. The manchego salad seemed well worth it for an $8 price point but upon reviewing I understood why. The manchego was shaved and the salad was the size of my palm. I don't think I'll be back. read more

Went to lunch with a couple of girlfriends earlier in the week. We arrived before the restaurant opened so we waited about a half hour. I ordered the burger, medium with no onion. It came rare with an onion. As a chef myself, I'm always ready for the first order of the day, apparently not everyone thinks the way I do! Now I can eat a medium rare burger, but know they ALWAYS under cook for the most part. I was completely looking forward to this burger which I've always gotten perfectly at Nordstrom. I went to the manager, Edson who had an attitude & proceeded to correct me about how my burger was cooked. Needless to say, I wasn't happy about his attitude or his words. All I can think was typical Mexican man w/a macho attitude. Because I am a Mexican woman, I learned a long time ago what the type is & to stay away. By the time Edson brought my new burger it was noon, my friends were completely done with their meals & I felt as if they sure did take their time considering we were there at 11 & ordered right away, the restaurant was not busy at all. I was completely turned off by the whole ordeal by the time it arrived & expressed how I felt. My friends agreed he once again arrived at our table with unnecessary attitude. He acted as if he was doing me a favor by taking it off the bill! All I can say is it was a matter of principle by then so I sent it back! Hubby & I truly enjoy Nordstrom cafe's & eat or drink at one at least 3 times a month, maybe it's time to rethink where we eat? It's a shame. read more

The chairs aren't the most comfortable, I think it's like McDonald's, made to make you want to not sit to long. I ordered the cilantro lime shrimp salad with avocado. Also an ice tea. The waitress was cool and she laughed at my dumb jokes, which of course, made me her slave. The food arrived in a big round bowl, being that bowls are usually round, I was not surprised. The salad was remarkably tasty with the shrimp maintaining some flavor, which to me is the hallmarks of a good cook. The dressing was light but it complimented the salad well. The waitress asked if we wanted to-go glasses for our drinks which was a generous policy of the restaurant. I declined since I turn into a dick when I have too much caffeine. I'd say the restaurant was a bit too pricey, otherwise I'd give it five stars. But if you go to Nordstrom's you probably don't care about money, so this may be the ideal spot to stop to take a break after blowing 200 dollars for a t/shirt. read more

I had dinner and dessert here, and it was probably one of the best meals I have ever had. I got the steak and frites, and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I also had tasted some of the specials, and we had to personally thank the chef. Dessert was not only beautiful, but we couldn't stop until every last bite was gone. This is probably my favorite go to place in south OC. The service was spot on and attentive. I started with the well known deviled eggs and moved onto the Beet Salad which was beautiful and delicious. Did you know there are three types of beets??? Has the crab and avocado salad and I was very pleased. Although Yolanda is not a server she and the Manager Julie are still my favorite people. Always attentive and helpful. Really gone down hill in 2019 and no improvements in sight. The salmon which Bazille has been known for was great in 2018 is now dry like sawdust. I sent my salmon back and asked for it rare and it still came back dry. I tried the salmon another day thinking it was a one off but no it was the same dry salmon. the following week I tried the chicken which was rubbery and tasteless and I sent it back. My wife and I love this place. Busy tonight due to tree lighting. Made reservation in opentable and had no problem. We sat outside and quite pleasant. Outside heater was turned on my wife was very happy. Billy was our server and he was great as usual. Made sure our drinks were topped off. Garlic humus was excellent with lemon sauce. We are disappointed that Nordstrom changed their menu. Why fix what isn't broken? Some menu items are the same, but it seems like an excuse to raise prices and make it seem more upscale. Newport Beach needs to have traditional restaurants! There are too many upscale places that cater to the tourists, not the residents. Good food, but not the same. I have been to many other Nordstrom Cafes but never have I had such a horrible experience. My daughter and I were dining there not too long ago. Among other foods...I ordered the Asian Chicken salad...had a couple of bites then saw a hair in it. I looked for my server but was not in site...we were dining in the patio. I saw the hostess (who sat us) and I called her with a very low voice and I pointed to my plate and said...I just wanted you to see this. I expected her to take the plate from the table AT LEAST! But she looked at the plate and responded "ohhh! I see that" I said it's ok just wanted you to see it...she turned around and carried on her way inside! We got the check and the salad was still on there. I asked the same hostess to please take it off my tab. She went back and removed it...I didn't get one apology from her or anyone for that matter! read more
