We tried a variety of flavors from Golden Original, Honey Garlic, Cheesling, Gang-Jeong, and Black Pepper all with bone in. Also ordered kimchi fried rice and rose ddeok-bokki with the added cheese. This place is pretty popular and at peak dinner time, the wait was 30-45 minutes. Favorite flavors for me were the golden original and cheesling. Texture is super crispy and light so you don't get that greasy feeling from fried chicken that you might feel from other spots. Chicken is tender and juicy inside. The pieces are so huge and if only I had more stomach space to eat more. They need to open more locations closer to San Francisco so I don't have to travel so far. I've been to other locations and the quality is 10/10 regardless of where you go. The chicken always comes out nice and hot and super crispy. When they say spicy, it can be spicy! They have a good number of sauce options and they are all so good so you can't go wrong with any of them. They all come with pickled daikon which is a great palate cleanser. However, the food does take a bit to prepare because they make it fresh (it's about 20 minutes); so plan ahead! The food is really tasty. Looks they they exclusively use disposable packaging, including utensils, paper trays, plastic cups, and paper/plastic container packaging. Everything felt very wasteful, especially for dining in. Overall, the food was enjoyable. It was over $50 for a medium portion of wings and the rice cakes, so quite pricy, but it was a solid amount of food for three gals. I was told by someone was that this place was the only legit Korean fried chicken spot and I have to say I've tried quite a few (Vons chicken, Pelicana, Bonchon (all their locations), and 99 chicken). Those are my go tos and honestly you can't go wrong. The chicken itself was on the smaller side (think drummettes) and wasn't super hot. It lacked the crunch I was hoping for but that might have been because it was a bit cold. It also came with only one small container of pickled radish even though we got 2 orders. Additionally, I wasn't a fan that you couldn't mix & match the flavors. It would have been nice to get a half soy and half honey garlic. Overall customer service at the front register was good, but someone definitely needed to wipe tables down. We are HUGE fans of KFC! And blessed that in the south bay we have quite a selection! Decided to try bb.q Chicken since they're now in Cupertino and we are SO happy we did! First I have to tell you - the guy at the register said - it'll take 20 mins! WRONG... we wait exactly 36 minutes! We were like "this better be worth it". And as we're waiting - on the big screen they are replaying a KD show that highlights bb.q Chicken. I guess it's to make sure you know it's worth the wait? Anyway - they knew it was long and the guy came to check with us while we waited and even after we got our food.. yes - we were a bit annoyed but the key question... "Was it worth the wait?"... Crispy and flavorful, I went during Superbowl weekend and they were having a promo that every order recieves free fries and pickled radish. The fries were made FRESH, very crispy and also nicely seasoned. We ordered the Small (8 piece) Soy Garlic and another order of Small Spicy Galbi. My only gripe is that you can't do half and half orders here because they said not every flavor is battered the same way so you'd have to do 2 seperate small orders like I did if anything. The soy garlic is really really good here, the batter was a good thickness and the crunch was insane. The spicy galbi had a smokiness flavor while also having a slight kick. I would have enjoyed it more with a bowl of rice perhaps. The flavor is similar to San Tung except lacking in spice. The boneless cheesling was my favorite of the two. I almost never order boneless but this was a pleasant surprise. The batter was tasty on its own, but dusted with that slightly sweet cheesy powder it just takes the chicken to a whole other level. Service was good, although the customer to worker experience was very limited. We ordered online ahead of time and the food was done in about 25 minutes. They provide clear gloves to customers which makes the meal so much cleaner and sanitary especially in covid times. Prices are pretty typical for fried chicken. $36 for the two of us seemed like a good deal. The korean fried chicken was delicious but I likely won't drive 25 minutes to Cupertino for it. The interior is minimal, but plenty of TV's and one that shows Korean dramas of bb.q chicken being delivered or eaten. They have a sign of how long your order will take and they really do keep to that time! They have a menu way up high and then a paper version easier to read at the counter to see what all the flavors really are. We went with the rose ddukbukki, honey garlic wings (medium order), golden original (medium order) and an order of fries. For drinks, they have soda, bottled water, soju, and bottled beers. It would be really great if they had beer on tap so it would be a true chimek experience. They also do not give water and you only get a small container of radish if you order (2) medium orders of chicken. 30 minutes later, we got our food. The fries were cold and not crispy, must've been sitting out for a bit. The honey garlic wings were delicious. The golden original, which I was really looking forward to, had a weird taste to me. Very artificial tasting. I also thought it would be much more crunchier. The rose ddukbbuki though...wow...we added cheese for $2 extra. Amazing. Creamy, spicy, and absolutely delicious.
