My friend ordered and picked up so I don't know how service was. We got the 16 piece golden fried and secret sauce chicken. They were pretty big pieces. I think we all liked the golden fried better than the secret sauced. I was a little disappointed to find out no picked radish came with the chicken. If you want that then you need to order separately. Some places give you some when you order the chicken. Also disappointed that they ran out of the sweet potato cheese balls! I really like the boneless chicken and I always love me some KFC. I think as far as KFC goes, this place has the basics down but is not outstanding. Service is good and they have a fun selection of Korean ice creams that my kids love. Here are ways they can improve: 1) the wait is always very long. I waited 45 last week for 1 mini plate and 2 regular plates. I don't wait that long at Vons or anywhere else. 2) sometimes, the rice is not cooked. I think they don't put enough water in the rice cooker. The rice looks cooked at first glance but when you eat it, it's hard and crunchy and raw in the middle. 3) I wish they had options for people who don't like excessively sweet chicken. ALL of the sauces are very sweet. The only non-sweet one right now is the crispy chicken with black pepper. I don't mind sweet, but not THAT sweet. Bbq Chicken is a popular Korean Fried Chicken franchise from Korea. I've tried it before in LA and I did find the LA location to be better than the Hawaii location-- in terms of flavor. I always get my favorite honey garlic, but I do find it to be a little on the salty side but also sweet side too-- I think I might try to get another flavor next time. Always make sure to place a phone call since waiting times could be around 20 minutes. Overall, bbq chicken is one of my favorite KFC places on the island. read more

I have been a huge fan of BBQ Chicken since discovering it in the Arts District of DTLA. I used to order their BB Wings at least once a week. I was super excited when I discovered a location on Honolulu. I must say that I was disappointed when I finally got to try to wings here. It's definitely not the same recipe or made the same as their LA location. Their chicken wings here were not as crunchy, I don't think it's double fried or battered the same and the taste was bland, they must not marinate their wings in advance. I have gotten food here twice! Both times it was really delicious! I really like the secret sauce wings - they're sweet, tangy, with a slight spice that's not spicy at all! It's perfect for me since I have a low-ish spice tolerance. The service is great/quick and the staff are really nice! Also, the inside was very clean and neat! I love how they play kpop - song selections were fire! Anyways, the food is prepared fresh - when I took the plate lunch take out home, the chicken was still crispy and warm. There is a lot of crunch and the wing pieces are filling. The fries are thicker cuts but so good. I noticed the fries are also very long too. Rice comes with the option of furikake on top. Lastly, the mandoo was crunchy and delicious. The dumpling skin is not too thick. As for the filling, it's a blend of meat and vegetables. I liked the mandoo dipping sauce too. It was easy finding the place, across from Kahala Mall and to the left of Kahala Market By Foodland. The red bb.q sign was easily visible from a distance. We opted for the Hot Spicy Chicken (half, 8 pcs) and the Cheese Ddeok Bokki. It was great they had disposable gloves available, as the chicken was covered with the hot, sweet sauce, which was quite tasty. The ddeok bokki had generous amounts of mozzarella, so enjoy it while it's still hot and stringy. Although they described it as "spicy," I really couldn't tell, eating it together with the chicken, which itself was quite spicy. I would say the ddeok bokki was flavorful. We also ordered the Golden Fried Wings & Boneless to go, to get an idea of how the fried chicken itself tasted. This is a health code violation, isn't it? I would love to bring my furbaby in but I also must abide by these rules, so I don't. This rule should be better enforced not only here but all restaurants. The golden fried was fresh, juicy, and very tasty for it being sauceless. Secret sauce was mildly spicy and sweet.
