Upon finishing my presentation at SOURCE in Des Moines, my family and I gave me a choice of where to eat: the choice was BBQ Pete's. Now normally when one goes into a BBQ joint with a suit the thought of getting sauce all over yourself is a cause for trepidation, however, the mission was accomplished with no sauce on my suit or dress shirt; I call that a win-win. Now let's get to the food. I had a Chipotle Chicken sandwich with a side of beans and cornbread with some honey butter (the nectar of the God's, in my opinion). My parents split the BBQ Three Meat Dinner (a collection of ribs and chicken). My sister got the salad with brisket (picture not taken due to her devouring it). All in all, high praise for BBQ Pete's. A great place to go to dinner with family or after work with colleagues. My only complaint is that the food (primarily the cornbread and fries) weren't as hot as they were when I initially came with just my Dad and I. So... due to a change of my work location, I was able to try this BBQ place nearby, and WOWZERS!! I'll start with the service. So far, on the 5:30-6:00 hours, the service has been very pleasant and surprisingly fast. I usually have food in hand within 5 minutes of placing my order. I've met my wife and kids here on occasion and they offer ample seating throughout the restaurant. There is even some outdoor seating, if that's your flavor. The Menu... I've had a few dishes from here, and they all have been great. I would have to say, that their Sliced Tri-Tip Salad is probably my favorite! Don't be fooled by the "healthy" notion of a salad... this one is BIG! I always order one with Blue Cheese, and my wife and I can easily split one of these bad boys. I've also had there shredded BBQ pork, which was also very tasty! I order a 1/3 rack of ribs, and albeit not the best I've ever had, they were pretty dang delicious to say the least. My wife's favorite part of the establishment is the containers of sliced pickles that you can grab in abundance, where as the kid's favorite thing is, the free soft cones that they offer. I do very much enjoy this BBQ Shack of sorts, and a small tidbit of information, if you will... is that if you're familiar with the BBQ pit at The Puyallup Fair (guess it's now called the Washington State Fair) where they would have racks and racks of ribs, chicken, and corn... this is the same style of delicacy you could expect! Some people may think that barbequing is simple but it's quite the opposite. It's about choosing the best wood to burn over fire which then creates a delicious smoky flavor for your meat. Paying attention is extremely important too. Nobody likes dry or burnt meat. Everyone has their own style and method of barbecuing but I've been pretty happy with BBQ Pete's. Just like Jack's BBQ, BBQ Pete's is up there on my favorites list. They've been pretty consistent with quality and customer service too. There's always a steady flow of customers coming in. The menu is so extensive though. It's good for the picky eater but bad for the indecisive friend or family member. The free soft serve ice cream is a sweet deal. Well, technically it's part of the meal but at least you have a choice to take it or leave it. On sunny days consider yourself lucky finding a table outside. Aside from their restaurant you may have seen their Puyallup Fair BBQ Sauce at Freddy's. It's pretty awesome that this local restaurant has merch at the grocery store. My work placed a few orders here recently (one catering and one individual order type), and my thoughts are somewhat mixed. It's more of a BBQ sauce restaurant-the meat iself is just average (beef 6/10, chicken 5/10, sausage 8/10), but the sauces are fantastic. The sides are delicious; we had beans, fries and cornbread muffins. The bad-individual portions are miniscule for what they're charging (a small 4oz meatwich and fries was $14), 20oz fountain drinks are $4, and every condiment costs something, even ketchup! When a business is doing that, and every side is the same price, my experience tells me to steer clear. I can only rate this place positively, by the thinnest of margins, because the food is generally very good, but I'm left feeling, WHERE'S THE REST? read more

Went here for the first time yesterday. Located in an office park area, it affords customers lots of parking space. We wanted a chance for outdoor seating during these pandemic times and BBQ Pete's has that. Granted, we decided to stay indoors so we could access their many sauces and other essentials. Love the decor as they have adorned their walls with winning ribbons from different bbq contests. There are also posters nicely displayed of different music legends. Food. Their brisket sandwich was delicious but definitely overpriced. I got one sandwich for $12.99. NO SIDES included in that price. Ouch. The food was good despite that price. My husband likes their ribs, but I prefer Jimmy Macs in Renton where the meat falls off the bone. The only reason I did not give this place four stars, was the lady taking our order looked like she hated us. What?? Why?? Color of our skin? Not sure. She didn't smile one iota. We finally stopped in and tried it! The pulled pork sandwich was huge and delicious. The "side" salad tasted fresh crispy and nice crunchy croutons. The loaded baked potato salad was my favorite! The fries were nice and crispy. All the portions were big and it all came out very quickly. Your able to make your own Italian soda at the soda fountain. If your not full by the end you can get a complimentary vanilla ice cream cone. All of it was tasty and delicious! It was a little pricey, but good bbq and a big meal. Definitely coming back here. First its typical BBQ joint, order up front but I expected at least them to bring your food to seeing they ask for a tip. So I tipped but no service. Also tables were dirty, so your on your own. As to the BBQ, I ordered the Rib dinner. It was a short rack of ribs with 2 sides. I had a salad and fries. The salad was ice berg crap with stale croutons and the fries were typical frozen, not made there. The ribs had a nice sauce, meat came off the bone but dry. Bottom line I can make better ribs at home on the weber. If your expecting Texas BBQ, this isnt the place. My buddy ordered the sandwich which was very small, looked more like a snack. Expensive, no service, not clean... PS to the owner: Dont ask for a tip on the bill if you only offer counter service, your customers should be obligated or tricked into this. read more

We found pizza on our way to the airport to go back home to Salt Lake City and are so glad we did! It was 3pm so we were the only ones in there for most of the time but every was delicious and fresh. The fries were hit a crispy, every sauce we tried was delicious. We especially liked the Zesty bbq and the hottest one offered. The brisket was tender and flavorful as well as the ribs, fall off the bone. We will definitely be coming back next time we are in town! Went to Pete's BBQ for my birthday lunch last weekend with the family! I chose this place because the BBQ dishes are so tasty. I usually get the Pulled Pork with a side of coleslaw and corn bread (comes with yummy whipped honey butter). Those are my all-time favorite things to order. This time, however, I got the Prime Rib French Dip with Au jus with coleslaw and cornbread. As always the coleslaw and cornbread with honey butter were so good! Unfortunately, the French dip was a little dry even with the Au jus dip. Maybe I should have added Swiss cheese (for $1.50 extra I think). That might have made it tastier. In any case, I still had a good time and enjoyed watching some of the kids (including me) eat the endless ice cream soft serve -- they only had 1, but I had 2 helpings (it was MY birthday! Haha). . I'll go back there again, but I'll stick to my pulled pork sandwich go to meal. read more

Surprisingly impressive! Posssibly the best quality bbq I've had in Washington. The Smoked brisket and pork have an excellent flavor and their sauce is great. Put some Cole slaw in it and perfection. Baked potato salad was also delicious too. A bit pricey for bbq sandwiches but worth it. read more

When I ordered the rib dinner at the Washington State Fair, I was expecting moist tender ribs. What I received was 3 half burnt ribs and one rib was so charred I threw it away. I wasted almost 30 dollars for burnt ribs. When the lady took my order, she smiled and told me to visit their business in KENT. Wow. DOES NOT DISAPPOINT. Best BBQ IN the area. Brought fam- I had burnt tips with cornbread. Meat was super tender and flavorful. Cornbread was moist & sweet. (which is a northern thing, but still yummy!) Coleslaw was legit flavorful. The loaded baked potato salad was amazing- full of ingredients. The FRIES. HOLY SMACK- I don't normally expect much in the way of fries from a bbq joint, but even though these were thick, they were moist and melt in your mouth! The seasoning that comes on them was outstanding. The dips they have are unique and delicious. Everything was so fresh and the right temp. Atmosphere was friendly and clean. The smell when you walk in is so amazing, got the #1 spicy chop sandwich & hubs got the brisket French dip. Sides were fries, coleslaw, & baked beans. Everything was SO good! Highly recommend trying this place, they have a variety of bbq sauces to try & we liked the one we tried so much we bought a bottle from them! Disappointing is the best I can say. I had the mix plate- and I was so surprised this place got such good reviews. The ribs were lukewarm and tough/chewy. The baked beans were good, so that was refreshing...but, woah- the price was outrageous for the quality.
