Service - really good, and quick. Order at counter, food comes out pretty quick. Noticed that some menu items on their board were different from the laminated menus. My wife had been here before, but I'd been wanting to hit a one of the locations. Appreciate that there is one in Federal Way now, as a foodie option. I can't say that I'm a BBQ aficionado, but I guess it comes down to knowing what you like. I grew up in the Midwest, so we had our share of BBQ and sausages and sides. I ordered the Double, as I wanted to try to the ribs and pulled pork, and have some leftovers for the week. Wife ordered Brisket sandwich with Ranch Beans and brought leftovers of both home. Let's start with the sides. So, I am not a person who likes a lot of spice, onions, etc. I had the Ranch Beans. Didn't realize they come with a lot of onion, etc. Flavor was good, but I guess I like my beans simple. Also got the Corn Bread - absolutely delicious...simple and not anything added to it, like jalapeño or chiles. I would have loved to try the Texas Caviar, but my wife said it was spicy. Same with the chili and Mac n cheese. Any chance these could be made with spices (chilis, onions, etc) as an option? Ribs - really good flavor and very meaty. Saving one for leftovers - you get 2 big ribs. Pulled pork - flavor was really good, but once it cooled down it was a little dry. Found out that the 2 options for BBQ sauce weren't tasty for me. Caught some mustard and seemed a little vinegary to me. The pulled pork was a big portion, so most of it came home with me for leftovers. Sadly, I have an aversion to mustard (all kinds), though I think I've been ok when it's been used as a binder - it seems to cook off and other flavors take control. Because of my dislike of how the sides were prepared, and limited options for something without spice - this is where the 4-star came in. Are there others out there like me that like a simpler BBQ and sides? Maybe - and if so, it's hard for us to want to come back, except for the meats. We arrived on a saturday night at seven thirty p m to find that the person behind the counter was just standing around, even though four tables were not bussed. After thirty minutes, when we left two additional tables.Besides ours we're also not bussed so that half the tableswere covered in dirty dishes. My sister ordered an old fashioned, which this person at the front desk forgot to make, and then when he made it, it was absolutely awful. The food was good, but this is not the level of service that i'm used to at the other Jacks in Algona-Pacific. I'd recommend that the owner's take a look at the footage from tonight's video cameras and fire the employee in question. Tried their new BBQ glazed chicken. I've had their chicken before and was not impressed. Even though it's brined, it's way over cooked to almost jerky. But, I gave it another chance. It was too salty, still overcooked and had a blanket of sauce over it. Not impressed. I'll stick to their brisket and pulled pork, no more chicken at all. Service okay and ambiance good. We visited this place at about 5pm on a Saturday evening, friendly staff, great food, 2 tvs with the game in and a quiet atmosphere. This place is small and it seems to be ideal for takeouts, but we dined in. Tried Jacks a second time as I usually do. NGL, this probably is not my spot! I got the trinity plate this time. 2 ribs, brisket, 2 sausage (1 hot, one jalapeño and cheddar) potato salad and Mac N Cheese. Wasn't feeling the ribs or brisket this go round! Brisket was really fattty and on the drier side with the meaty parts. Ribs didn't wow either. Cheddar sausage was good, Mac and cheese was okay but remember if you are ordering based on this review that it's not traditional Mac. It has a little kick bc of the queso cheese! A couple weeks ago I noticed this place on the side of the road and thought to myself. I wonder if they have okra there when they say Texas barbecue I wondered was it real Texas barbecue cause guess where I'm from Texas. So I walked in there and I talked to the guy that worked there and he was a super nice guy. I ordered some potato salad some pickles, some pulled pork, some sausage, some ribs, their banana pudding, and a couple other things now I was super impressed by the meats. They were tender and they tasted really good And their sauce. Well, you got it made there that's real Texas barbecue now for your sides. There was no okra and the chili was a little on the spicy side the potato salad well we need to throw some more pickles and onions, mustard and mayonnaise in there but their macaroni and cheese. Oh my gosh did they hit it with that one? It was absolutely wonderful. I would have to say that was the best I mean best macaroni and cheese I've ever eaten in my life. In fact, right now my mouth is watering thinking about this macaroni and cheese so if you want to go there, I would say skip the desserts the pudding I wasn't impressed but the rest of your stuff going on you're doing really well. This is definitely NOT Texas style bbq like I had in AZ! My order was pick up, was ready on time and included everything I wanted to try. The cornbread was good, the corn pudding excellent as was the Texas caviar! However, the ranch beans had fatty meat, the rib was about half fat, the brisket was so fatty I tossed most of it. The sausages were fine, but the chili was better than the beans! The Marysville's bbq meat had no fat on beef, ribs or chili! All was smoked and cooked with bbq sauce. My wife and I went ther a week ago for the 1st and last time. Walked in and they don't seet you and want you to order on the spot.We had never even seen there menu. Took the menu to our seat and walked back to order. We ordered 2 double triple plates with standard hot hot sausages. The meat was dry and tasteless. We ate half our orders, not impressed and took the other half home. We were served one std sausage and one halipino hot sausage. WE apparently ate the std one and did not know we took the hot one home. We both had one bite of that horrible hot sausage and it burned our mouths. The though out the rest of the left overs. The man behind the counter was friendly and knowledgeable about the difference between this location and the Algona one. He gets points for providing additional fixins to take home when we asked to take home the onions we didn't finish. But many management decisions beyond his control made this location less desirable and somewhat disappointing. The menu is far smaller, with many items unavailable. We were told hush puppies were unavailable because the location has no air fryer. I'm unclear why our favorite salad was not available. What food there was tasted good. Drinks were served in thin disposable plastic cups. Banana pudding was served in disposable cardboard. This small location is more for take-out than dining in. We watched a lot of people come in to pick up orders. There is not much seating, and no booths. Instead of a server taking your order at the table, orders are placed at the register and then brought to your table. read more

I was finally able to try Jacks BBQ and I was not impressed. Mind you I am from the PNW and good BBQ is hard to find. Their review rating was decent, so I thought I would give them a try. I gave 2 stars for the ribs that were okay. But the BBQ sauce tasted like ketchup, so I did not use it. The cornbread was thick but no flavor of being cornbread and I got the greens that had a lot of stems and not much flavor from the meat in which was hard and over cooked. Hello and Good Morning, I want to share my experience while it's fresh in my mind. I'm southern, all the way around. Southerners like to taste what we're eating. I had the chopped brisket, with Mac and cheese and a side cornbread. The chopped brisket, although being tossed in a sauce, was BLAND. Undersalted, no sauce on the actual sandwich. The Mac was the WORST. Yall need to salt your noodles better, or the cheese béchamel needs more salt... EITHER WAY..TASTE AS YOU COOk!! I ate it because I was craving your food for about 2 months now and I drove by yesterday and saw windows being put in and life in the building so I decided to come for dinner.
