This is seriously the best burger I've had in awhile. I loveee a good smash burger and they have really perfected it here. The edges of the patty were perfectly crispy and the cheese was perfectly melty and gooey. All of the components were great, no notes. The fries were also great. I also have to mention that they have the best location! Such a cute spot and it's right next to a zeds so you can get ice-cream next door when you finish your burger. Had a catering event from then and they were great! Even with cranking out a huge volume of burgers, quality was still there. Menu was simplified to just classic smash burgers but no one is complaining. They really smash the patties here. It's like thin meat lace, so great crispy edges, seasoned well but not dry either. Cheese melts into the patties and the sauce is fire. Martins potato rolls are the goat bun, so they got that down too. All in all, probably the best smash burger in Austin. read more

I'll happily have another please! BB's jalapeño smash burger was a smash hit for my tastebuds. The fresh ground beef patties, the thin onions cooked into the meat, the grilled jalapeños, melty cheese and sauce, all between a soft and buttery bun...I'm drooling just thinking about it. Fries were perfectly crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. Everything perfectly seasoned. Everything fresh. The menu is small, and that's fine by me because what they're doing, they're doing it very well. I went on a Saturday around 3 or so and there wasn't a line. Service was quick and friendly. A really solid smashburger spot- the menu is minimalistic and at a good cost. Soft toasty potato buns + patties were crispy. The only thing is that I could've used a bit more sauce (which I'll ask for more next time), and the salt/seasoning on the patties were a bit heavy handed. The star for me were the fries. Imagine you're getting out of the pool craving a smash burger + you find BB's on yelp. You decide to walk there since it's only 15 mins and can also walk your dog. Your favorite show starts at 7pm so you time your walk, order, and cook time perfectly to have you back for the show start.... only to get to BB's and they tell you they are out of fries... 1/2 of the main menu.. and offer you no discount on your burger for the inconvenience ($12 burger)... so now you have no choice but to order your burger without fries and walk to the whataburger near buy to order fries... and missing the first few minutes of your show. my jalapeño smash burger is good. Hands down, the best smash burgers in Austin. I've tried a lot of burger spots around town, and nothing hits like BB's. The patties are perfectly crispy on the edges, juicy in the middle, and packed with flavor. The seasoning is spot on, the buns are soft and buttery, and the toppings are always fresh. my favorite smash burger in austin. a simple menu with only two options for burger, i would recommend the classic for a filling meal. super flavorful and juicy burger. i wish there was more sauce. since it's a food truck, the only option for seating is outside with a ton of flys. they do try to control it with table fans however the flies do still find a way to your food. read more

BB's is an easy spot to review--they only make two things: burgers and fries. The stand shares an outdoor seating area with Zed's Ice Cream and Vecinos, a Mexican food trailer. Their smash burger comes with one or two patties, grilled onions, pickles, cheese, and special sauce. I would say it ranks among Austin's top-tier smash burgers--very thin patty with lacy edges. The fries are crispy, craggly, and served with flaky salt for a nice touch. Drinks are limited to a few sodas and bottled water, so BYOTopo Chico if that's your thing. They also have self-serve water from Yeti coolers, though the cups are small. We were visiting Zedds, but I was hungry for something more than an ice cream... I was really happy to see there are now food trucks next door! I decided to try BBS and ordered a double patty smash burger and fries and shared with my kiddos. It was very good and reasonably priced. They have a pretty simple limited menu, but it also makes it easy to decide what to order! I thought the serving of fries was a large serving size too. Really great smash burger! The Cowboy burger came with bacon, fried onions, and bbq sauce. It was saucy and a little messy in a great way. The classic came with white american cheese and grilled onions. It had a classic burger sauce which could have been a little thicker consistency. Got two burgers and fries for take out last night and we were wowed!! One of the top smash burgers in Austin and the best fries imo! I love a greasy cheeseburger, and this checked that box. Only thing missing for me would be some carmelized onions. But I appreciate their simple menu with just the basics. Cute spot with kind staff. I did ask for an extra side of BB's sauce and I didn't get it which is no big deal bc the burger was adequately sauced (yay!) but I would have loved some with my fries so I'll double check next time because it's so so good. This place is the perfect evening stop. The menu is affordable and simple, burgers and fries with a few drink choices but delish! (Like, I'm craving another burger weeks later) The staff are friendly and on-point. Orders came out quickly and there was plenty of seating even though there were a lot of people when we went. The vibe is enjoyable; you just kinda feel like you've joined a no-pressure hang with friends. There's a large gated play area so even though it's next to a street, our kids could play safely and we ate our food while it was hot. My beautiful girlfriend, traveling home from Vancouver, had a morning layover in Austin just recently on a weekday, and I got us a reservation to Paperboy East. Compared to the weekends, their schedule was a lot more open. On the weekends it can be nearly impossible to get a spot unless it's a few weeks in advance. We had a reservation at 8 am right when they opened, and when we walked in, we were seated immediately. The place looks like a modern twist on the old-school diners your grandparents love. There's also an upstairs and downstairs patio. Plenty of space! We were sat at one of the two-person tables. To start, I ordered their house drip coffee while my girlfriend got their "Lil Remi," an iced cappuccino with salted caramel. The black coffee was excellent and flavorful, while my girlfriend thought her Lil Remi was like a milkier shaken espresso that she really liked. From their starters, we ordered their Blueberry Lemon Pop Tart to share. I am a sucker for a homemade Pop Tart, and the jam on the inside was extremely fresh, and the icing and crust of the Pop Tart itself was sturdy and full of flavor. For our entrees, I ordered their Texas Hash with added avocado while my girlfriend ordered their famous Paperboy Pancake with chocolate chips as a full breakfast with bacon and two over-hard eggs. It wasn't a long wait at all to get our food. The Texas hash looked great and was presented quite nicely, which is a shame because I immediately proceeded to mash it all together to make sure every bite had a perfect balance of the roasted pork, sweet potatoes, egg, and avocado. It was very filling and substantial, which is great because I needed it to last me up to dinner. The pancake is the star of the show and is worth the order alone. The flying saucer they serve rises like a cake in the oven and is extremely fluffy. She was surprised with how it was a traditional pancake but loved how moist it was for its size. A perfect pancake to her. A perfect pancake to me because she couldn't finish it, so I took it to go and ate the last few bites immediately after dropping her off at the airport. For being an upscale diner in the prime area of Austin, I knew Paperboy was going to be pricey, but I honestly thought that it would crack $100 before tip between the two of us. I was very happy to see it was not even close to that and cost us about $80 with tip. To me, that felt fair for Austin, and I would pay that price any day of the week for a breakfast like we had. I've had a few of the locally owned brunch and breakfast spots in Austin and concur with the masses that this sits strongly at the top of the list. Best pancakes, best atmosphere, and the best times. Amazing smash burgers from a chill food truck spot! The flavors were spot on, the burgers cooked perfectly, and the fries were just as delicious -- which isn't always the case. Prices were reasonable and totally worth it. Only downside was the number of flies, but the food made up for it. Smash burger lovers, this place gets it right.
