Things have changed since I was last at BDs. Used to be, you go to the bar and get all your goodies in a bowl, go to to the grill area, give the cook your stuff, he puts it on the grill and culinary theater occurred. They would do all kinds of fancy moves with the food, maybe take the long spatula thing, and flip a broccoli or a random shrimp in thr me air and then put it all cooked back in the bow, send it your way,l and you might put a dollar in the tip jar and get to gang the gong. You know, having some fun. No more. These employees did not look like they were having fun. Anyway, now you hand them your bowl with the little amount of sauce on the side and hope your food is seasoned as spicy as you wanted and not bland. There wasn't any bussing of tables and turning them over to get the next batch of people in; so at 830pm, there was a line of people waiting for a table, which was unnecessary. The sign on the wall of the bar said No alcohol is being served, but they were serving cocktails, which was weird. And we,had extra.hummus from our appetizer, and asked for a bit more roti bread to finish, and they said they had to charge us for it. I mean, what amounts to a flour tortilla, really? I'm just like whatever, just bring it so my kids can eat. Really nitpicky crap. Imma tell ya, BD Mongolian was one of my husband's go to places for a dinner treat over the past 20 years in various states that we have lived, but from what I saw today, we don't ever have to go back. Second only to FlatTop (also owned by Mongolian) this is one of my favorite places. The selection of items is amazing and their sauces are awesome as well. Since they started offering the roti bread it got even awesomer (can we make this a word please?) we moved out of the area but when we come back, this is a definite stop. It might take a couple of trips to figure out your particular taste, but once you dial it in you'll be back. It also takes a few trips to figure out how to load that bowl "just right". Sometimes the guys at the grill will give you a little show as well. (Watch em toss eggs). Even if you have to wait a little bit, trust me, it's worth it. read more

First time to a Mongolian Grill. This place caters to people with allergies by cooking the food in a separate area. However, people with allergies are still going through the same line as everyone else. If someone decides to use the shrimp tongs in the steak or chicken bin then there is cross contamination. I really think someone with an allergy should be able to pick what they want and the entire meal is made in the back/separate spot. My food was good but felt there was a lot of black/burned sauce in my stir fry. Like the grill wasn't scraped enough before cooking my bowl. Also my fork had crusty stuff on it and I had to ask for a new one. The frozen watermelon drink was good and the service was good. My meal was okay but I like Flattop Grill better. read more

We know that we will be well taken care of when we come here. Our daughter lights up when she walks in the door knowing she gets to say hi to some of her BD friends. Came in on a Monday, and it was pretty quiet. I was welcomed by Norman at the door and he sat me down. The menu has a lot of great options for appetizers and the main course, they also have ramen! I tried the following tonight: 10/10 - Watermelon Mojito 8/10 Chicken Potstickers 8/10Tokyo Metro Noodles The noodles claim to be spicy on the menu but more Siracha was needed. This place has gone dowwwwwwwwnnnnnn hill. At one time this was the place to go in the promenade. Now it is forgotten, disgusting, and overpriced. There is no longer alcohol being served, but there is an abandoned bar area. The floors are generally disgusting and show a lack of cleanliness. There is no longer a salad bar but prices haven't changed. The cook top which was once fun and entertaining is just a place to drop your food. The cook top "chefs" who were once fun and interactive have been replaced with a rude person. Save your hard earned money and check out other promenade options. read more

The create your own bowl I made was pretty tasty! They brought my friend's order to the wrong table, but they ended up replacing her bowl - so the service was pretty accommodating as well. The entire Restaurant needs a serious DEEP CLEANING. The bathrooms were gross. We went on Tuesday night and they were barely half full. There was like two people working on the floor in the entire restaurant. They could barely be found. They don't bring rice to the table anymore and you don't stand at the grill to watch them cook your food anymore. So we requested a bowl of rice to bring out with the meal and they brought it out 10 minutes before the food came and it was cold. We all turned in our bowls at the grill at the same time, but one of our meals came much sooner than the other three. The food took way too long to come back and it was BURNT to a crisp. I don't know how you can mess up some noodles and meat on a flat top grill. They also don't know how to turn the AC on apparently on the warmest day of the year. I used the allergy zone and my food was so soggy and there was a liquid sitting on the bottom of my bowl. it was as if they put my food in a steamer and served it to me. Our server never checked up on us once to see how our food was and when he gave us the check, he just dropped it and kept walking. The women's bathroom was so disgusting. They are constantly out of ingredients, the floors are filthy, and the food comes off the grill black from the soot that's apparently never cleaned. i was deeply disappointed in this location. maybe it was just a bad day. there were a lot of people working there but we had to wait 20 minutes at the entrance to be seated because no one was there to greet us, or others. the food bigger trays were nearly empty and not replenished when we filled our bowls. after they were cooked, no one brought them to us so we had to get our own bowls. Loved going to this place 10 years ago, came back to visit this weekend while in town and it has gone wayyyy downhill. The salad bar is gone, no alcohol served, the food looks disgusting and un appetizing. Once you bring it to the grill there's no standing there and watching them cook like old times, they ask you to sit down and then bring to you. The grill is insanely dirty, the ground is disgusting with food everywhere. We got our food and it was horrendous. Very dry and overcooked, full of grizzle from the dirty grill. I will never be back! DO NOT EAT HERE! I can't emphasize that enough. This place is filthy! The cross contamination is so bad that I wouldn't doubt many people get sick from it. People put the raw chicken in their bowls and then touch the vegetable tongs on the raw meat! Then put the tongs back in the vegetables! All the vegetables are contaminated. I haven't been to a Mongolian Grill in years. Decided to meet a buddy for lunch, which turned out to be a great idea. They have a wide variety of selection, but, for me, the option to make your own bowl adds a level of fun to the meal. First, pick your protein(s). I had some chicken and some sausage coins. 2nd, pick some veggies. I chose celery, spinach, shredded carrots, onions, pea pods, water chestnuts, peanuts, and sweet peppers. 3rd, select some sauces. They have a huge selection for any palate. I mic a little sweet with some hot. Then drop it off to be cooked and a couple of minutes they serve you at your table. There is a large grill for most diners, but the also have an allergy window. My friend is allergic to shellfish, so he went to the Allergy Grill. Tasty! read more

The griller also pointed out open spots to put my bowl to wait for cooking which I didn't see myself. I am very pleased and wish more restaurants had this level of service. Oddly, this was my second visit to a "stir fry" place in the last fortnight as I dined at Flat Top Grill in Evanston last week. Prior to that it had been over a year, since the lockdown restrictions started.... On that note, tables were spaced out, people (staff and customers) were wearing masks, plenty of hand sanitizer stations. During dinner I found myself constantly noticing the subtle differences between BD's and Flat Top. Each have certain things I like more than the other, but a base level very similar. And both rather enjoyable. Server was very enthusiastic and polite, did an excellent job taking care of the small humans in our party. Cooks put on quite a show, very lively and entertaining. One fellow was great directing traffic and engaging with diners. Getting a reservation was handled rather poorly. Called to inquire, made a reservation. Got an email back, reservation was made for that night as opposed to the following evening as requested and for a half hour earlier than I asked for. After second call this was resolved. When we arrived (at the designated time), we were told we would have to wait (not in the restaurant) 20 to 30 minutes and they would text us. Waited 20 minutes outside, checked back with the hostess. "Oh, we have your table." Odd. Interesting side note, as I was headed back in a party of three was walking out, I am assuming they had not made reservations as one member of the group was hurling a string of profanities about never having had to make a reservation there in the past. Food was good, space was clean. Would be fantastic if they could clean up the issues at the door. read more

We followed Marcus and Jesse from Naperville after that location closed. We had the pleasure of meeting Kishahn tonight, and the excellence/quality of service and person continued. This is one of our FAVORITE places, and it really shows when our 3 year old daughter walks in and looks for her friends. We know we will get treated well, and in return, we try to come as often as we can. Hands down a great dining experience because of the quality of people like Marcus, Jesse, and Kishahn. read more

If I could, I would leave 0 stars. We arrived around 4p on a Thursday night and the restaurant was deserted. A sign on the door stated "No alcohol sales" which I found very odd. Two employees were at the host stand and one sat us. I used the restroom before sitting down to look at the menu and noticed how dirty the floor around the restaurant was. The bathroom was not clean either. When I got back to the table, my friend and I realized no one was behind the grill grilling food. She also noticed no other employees. It was at that point we got up and left. This used to be one of our favorite places and it has gone significantly down hill. We ordered take out from here 6 months ago and had no issues. Not sure what is going on but it seems as though this place is on its way out. Very, very disappointed. read more
