Went here with a large group for a friend's birthday. They were able to seat us all together, though the place wasn't crowded anyway. We weren't able to be sat until at least half of our party was there leaving the front area very cramped. It was kind of confusing. There were plenty of options for your bowl and it was easy to navigate. I was overall happy with my decisions despite being out of my element and having not had Mongolian bbq for over 15 years. If you want an additional bowl it's only $4 extra, so I thought that was nice. My first bowl was plenty but a few people took advantage of the unlimited option. This one is tuff. This has been a family favorite for years and have had multiple birthday and corporate parties here. HUNDREDS of referrals to BD's, most signing up for the Rewards Program. Note: this is not a local restaurant issue but a corporate one. Local management has even criticized the same issue and noted the large number of complaints from other Rewards members. I've been a Reward Member since 2015 and a loyal customer even before that. I've moved in and out of the area but when living close we would visit 2-3 times a month. Even when living where there was no BD's, we made a point of going to BD's when back in town visiting friends and family. So often that I had acquired 1210 points. This doesn't even include the hundreds and hundreds of points that was generated on other accounts, which I treated others while using their accounts, like my daughter. To my SHOCK and AMAZEMENT, to repay my loyalty of over 10 years, BD's in October of 2025 decided to, with absolutely no notice, wipe every single point from my account. Local management says their hands are tied and can do nothing but give contact info and tell me about all the other customers that have also complained. The contact info is useless, after a dozen attempts, not a single reply. Some would consider this THEFT. 1200 points could get you 8 free bowls, at $18.99 per bowl that would be $151.92. Much more if you used points in different ways. It just amazes me that any business would treat their loyal customer (or any customer) in such a manner. I do wonder if this is just a bad employee in guest relations or if this is a corporate decision that the customers lost saves more money that honoring their statement from their website "Our guests are our number one priority here at BD's" If you prefer to spend your money with a business that values your patronage and you as a customer..... this is not it. This was the very WORST Mongolian BBQ my family have ever had in any state. The cooks didn't put any oil or anything while they were cooking which resulted in a very, very dry plate of utter burnt noodles. It was unbelievable. The waitress tried to get a second plate but it took too long. You've been WARNED about this BD Mongolian Grill. This has been one of my wife and I's favorite restaurants for 20 years and I've never rated it. We use to come here 1-2 times a month before kids. Since kids we've moved a few hours away but we try and eat here anytime we're in the area. Today was still great as always food was great, the server was fantastic. We were there yesterday for lunch and what a horrible experience. The bartender/host was friendly and my experience could have been better in her section. Instead, Josiah E was our server and he had no personality or serving experience at all. It's like we had to force him to ask us the questions...or that he just expected us to tell him our order without him having to talk to us at all. When he did talk to us he was rude and uninterested in helping. The guy who grilled our food had no interest in dealing with us either. He made no conversation and practically tossed our cooked bowls at both my husband and I. He was actually ruder than Josiah. Basically, he got no tip from us. However, because he did supply us with the things we asked, I did tip Josiah the correct amount. I can't say I'd recommend this place again. read more

I'd recommend to go with a consistent style, I tried for too many things but it was still good. The service was good, cooks and servers both being friendly. It was very slow but I went when they had just opened so we quickly got everything we needed. They have a lot of options for meats, vegetables, sauces, seasonings and more. The portion is a very good size since you pick your own food that fits in the bowl. I can't wait to go back and try something different. This was the worst expensive experience ever! The place looked like a dirty fast food Chinese place. We ordered 2 bowls in which you pick your food items and they cook it on the grill... it tasted burnt! And the bill was $62!?? This is my favorite place to go to. Very affordable & if you make your bowl right, can be a bang for your buck! Went with my sisters for a sibling night.. but this can easily be a date night or group vibe! Food is really good. You can choose from the menu or you can go make your own bowl & watch them cook it in front of you. Its kid friendly as well, so that's a plus for all my family foodies out there! The best Mongolian BBQ in KC K or M! The facility is spacious and the staff are quick to assist. Beginning options are flour tortillas, rice, or both. The vibe is always upbeat and one can really enjoy your time there. I've been to other BBQ joints and a lot of them aren't clean. I would say almost every 20 minutes people are cleaning the raw food area. Moreover, and since I used to be in F&B I paid attention, the practice LIFO (last in first out). In other words, they don't pack new few on top of the old food. That's paramount to maintaining a clean environment. The options have something for everyone! Lots of seafood, chicken, lamb, beef, sausage options etc. Also they have a plethora of vegetable options for all the vegans out there. As far as sauces and seasonings, they have a "cheat sheet" to tell you how to create some base flavors but I know what I like so I'm able to create my own masterpiece! A hint though, you can get a little ramekin to put the sauces in, but my experience is put the sauces in the ramekin and your bowl to boost the flavor profile. Also opt for an egg, it adds to the texture. I love this place and I never leave hungry. One last hint, build your bowl up high, I mean really pack in the food to be cooked. This way you won't need another round of food. Finally, see that big gong right in front of the grill? Tell them to give you a good bang when your food is done. This was a very good place for a tasty, custom, as healthy as you want it to be bowl at a reasonable price. The wait person gives you a bowl to fill after you are seated. You can fill the bowl with one meat, and all the veggies the bowl will hold for $9.99. I liked the good selection of fresh meats, fresh veggies, sauces, and spices. The wait person also delivers your choice of white rice, brown rice, or tortillas. My meal was grilled, plated, and brought to my table within a few minutes (no watching at the grill during the pandemic). It tasted great, especially since I chose the ingredients. I liked the spacious, nice, and clean dining area (with contemporary background music), and the friendly, attentive service. My boyfriend I come here once a month maybe twice since it is so close to where we live! Ive genuinely enjoyed the food most times we have been there. I do not recommend the chicken tenders, but most times I get a bowl. If you haven't been here before, it is buffet style! You fill your bowl with all the ingredients, and they cook it in front of you. I usually make a pad thai variation of my own! You can definitely get creative with your bowl/stir-fry!! there is nothing crazy spectacular about the food. It's pretty standard for the price you pay but still delicious. The service slows once you go through the buffet but that is to be expected and it is never a problem when it comes to refills or grabbing a check!! It was a brisk Tuesday. Cloudy. Maybe a chance of rain. Husband and I stopped in for dinner prior to seeing H.E.R. at Starlight. Our last dining visit here was August 2021. Here's what's changed: Inflation: This is a no brainer thanks to the pandemic..and other factors. Our meal was $40 more than our past visit. Eek. Customer service: Our server was attentive and not too overbearing. She kept our drinks filled and the empty tables nearby clean for the next guests. Kudos to her for also being quick about bringing the check. The young lady seating guests was also pleasant and welcoming. The Grill: A curt fellow directed customers to a number to stand at for the grill after you fill your bowl. It was nice they hired more cooks at the grill, which expedited wait time for food. They rotated to different spots after about a minute and a half. It was impressive how coordinated they were! I especially appreciated their hyper-focus on ensuring eggs were cracked carefully and others' food didn't touch cooking during the cooking process. The food: As the kids say, it was mid. My husband's steak was tough and gristly. My red potatoes were slightly undercooked. Flavor was awesome though, thanks to the variety of sauces offered. Location: B.D's is across the street from Oak Park, which can draw considerable crowds during the lunch and dinner rush. This visit was a last ditch effort after Cheddars and Houlihan's both had a 45 minute wait. Third times a charm! It was not overly crowded but it was definitely busy, especially for a Tuesday. Overall, our visit was decent but will not be back for sometime. The price of our meal did not quite live up to our expectations, especially since the experience was mid, at best. We have been here 2 times in the last couple of weeks. My husband has been going through treatments and we are trying to eat more greens. We love the salad bar, wish you would have green and black olives. The servers have been good but the cooks are not friendly. They don't speak or respond when spoken to. Ehhh, this used to be a very neat place to go to with the food being cooked in front of you by chefs skilled in banging long flat metal utensils on the round cooking surface to keep you entertained while they were flipping your self selected ingredients together as you watched in amazement. It was kind of like a dinner and a bit of a show as they always appeared to be having fun and would try to make you laugh or amuse you by popping a shrimp a couple of feet into the air and another chef batting it back into your meal with some playful banter. These days, with the ongoing drama facing business to maintain social distancing and ensure everyone is protected, you sit your selections on the bar, make your way back to your table, and wait for it to be served to you. Sadly, for me, this has taken away much of the appeal of this restaurant. The food is good but it is only cooked as you close the meats, vegetables, sauces, and spices for them to prepare. read more

My kids have so much fun getting to pick their favorite ingredients, sauces, and watching the cooks prepare their food.

They have such weird pricing. A single trip with one bowl is $15.99 but if you want more than one you pay $18.99 and can't take leftovers home. Usually at these type of establishments the ingredient tables are well kept and clean and they have someone maintaining it. This location is messy, with drippings everywhere. The customers have obviously been careless but the staff haven't been maintaining it. I had to wait two times in line because something ran out and it took them a while to refill. It doesn't appear they clean their grill table either. I had so many chunks of char on my plate. I won't be returning to this location. The staff were nice and kind and our waitress was attentive - I'm sure some of the issues are due to staffing during a pandemic so hence my at least 2 star review. But the pricing and policies around it and cleanliness of the grill I doubt wouldn't change with enough staff. read more

First time visiting this place. Basically you get a bowl and pick your own meats and veggies and noodles from the bar. You also get to pick your seasonings and sauce as well. You take your food to the chefs and they cook it on a stir fry in front of you. I took mine to go so I did not get to experience the service on its entirety. The one guy that I did ask for help was very nice tho. The place was pretty decently kept as I looked around. Didn't go to the bathrooms while I was there.
