    Blueberry focaccia

This place is so good that they are often sold out before closing. It took quite a few drive-bys for me to even catch them open, and their reputation and popularity are well-deserved. The straight ahead sourdough sandwich bread is delicious--almost too good for sandwiches--but I was really wowed by the blueberry focaccia! If you're in town staying at The Holbrooke, I highly recommend grabbing some bread from across the street to take home.

Get the bread make a sandwich at home!! So freaking good!! Tuna on their rye bread!! Next up turkey, coleslaw, Swiss and Russian dressing. Bread is soft and healthy and delicious.

Visited Nov. 16th..see receipt. This place opens at 9am and there was already a line inside! They are a newer business located on Main Street ( next to Cirinos). GREAT fresh sourdough bread with lots of options. I ordered the classic for ten bucks and the focassia with garlic for 6 bucks. Both were still warm! I can't wait to enjoy it with my chili! The couple that run it are friendly and fast. The breads were flying off the shelves! What a great addition to Grass Valley! Ps. Go early because they run out pretty quickly!

Really exceptional bread. Great service and a nice family runs it in a small town up in Gold Mining Country.

There's nothing wrong with his opinion, I don't eat that garbage, but if you can't tell or don't care about quality (yes, I'm being snarky, but seriously, if you're going to complain you have options...) Anyhow, this is where I come to eat, I always pay, and he complains about the price of the sandwich (I paid for) while he eats all of his sandwich and then finishes mine- it is also a lot of food, usually two meals for me, but I'm not a voracious eater. If you're still here after my rant, the food here is quality, you're going to pay more, you're going to wait for it to be prepared, because its not some cafeteria conveyer belt sandwich- it's crafted. The shop is very small, ambiance is- small meat counter, the soda machine has been broken as long as I've been coming, there's no indoor dining. I know, I'm not selling it. BUT Outside you have outdoor tables under the trees, there are birds singing, it feels completely Nevada City, much preferred to eating inside. Typically I order the Reuben and I think that's their best sandwich, but I've also tried the Roast Beef, Italian Ham, and Turkey. I know I mentioned their soda machine is broken, but they have plenty of sodas in a cooler as well as a few very good sides- I'm partial to the Dijon potato salad. So final thoughts- cheapskates with broken tastebuds stay home, let the real ones eat.

Wish I'd read the other 1-star reviews before ordering here on the basis of the 4.6 rating. How-…read moreHOW??- do 3 sandwiches and a bottle of ice tea come up to $67?!? I left a 15% tip hoping it was going to be the greatest lunch ever. BEWARE of the incredible underwhelm once you unwrap to see the smallest sub ever, and then the bland flavor of turkey and hardest rye roll that my dog wouldn't even bother with. What a bummer. At least I don't have to be curious about this place anymore. And I assume times are hard for local businesses, so I'm glad I supported them this one time.

Well, this place delivered nothing short of an excellent experience! They were pretty busy, so we sat the bar. The service was great, fast and nothing short of amazing! The setting and atmosphere was pretty chill and relaxed, with some friendly neighbors around. We were very hungry by the time we sat down due to the long, wait, but it was well worth it. However, that are hunger. I forgot to take very good food pictures. The kitchen and historic charm of the decor hides a quite spacious restaurant that is decorated with historic furnishings, and adorable crayon pictures colored by local children. The menu is varied and has something for everyone. I tried the potato pancakes, which are hashbrowns mixed with cheese and garlic and onions on top with pesto sauce and eggs, and I must say that they were a delightful surprise, crispy and savory and worth every bite. My friends ordered the tofu breakfast burrito at Cuevo rancheros along with the bacon and egg breakfast at all said they were. We chose to share a three person mimosa, which includes a bottle of champagne and juice of your choice to accompany, and it was just perfect for our group. Our survey Anna was very busy, but made sure to check on us after serving the food and made sure that the food was served our liking and responded to every request we had. I would definitely plan on waiting in line on the weekends. They have a self-service waiting list and they will call you - inside or outside- when your table is ready. We waited a full 45 minutes on a Sunday around 11:00 am. Worth the wait, though!

They feature gourmet food items set in delightful surroundings. They also offer freshly prepared sandwiches and more. Alas, we had just come from a big breakfast nearby, so I wasn't hungry.
