It was Christmas night but we had to wait almost 50 minutes for two medium pizzas when they arrived they were lukewarm and the mushroom pizza might have had five mushrooms on them. I will never go there again! They need to learn some customer service skills. The manager does not have any customer services skills and was very disrespectful to my husband. WHO DOES THAT? Warning ... Do not fall for the Yelp Check-in Deal of 20% off orders over $20. It's either bogus, a mistake, or a marketing fail. I was curtly told "they don't honor the deal for customers anymore" with an expression like I was being rude for even asking to use their own deal. This problem was reported by Emilio in January and other Yelpers earlier, but, sadly, I didn't check the reviews until already driving over to Beach Pizza and being told "Nope. Not gonna honor it." The pizza has always just been average at Beach Pizza, but since it is one of the closest restaurants to my house that offered a Yelp Deal, we were fans in supporting a local joint. I guess those days are over. Instead of a whole Beach Pizza pie with the advertised discount, I got a single cheese slice for $2.94 that would hold me over until I drove to another place. That pizzeria had no problem completing my order for a large pizza, order of wings, and a salad for dinner and even offered their best coupon deal without hesitation. ***Just opened but unbelievably slow service*** Beach Pizza is kind of in its soft opening phase. It used to be located several blocks down Manchester in the Playa Del Rey area. The menu seems the same (and the food at that old location was pretty decent; the new pizza place, Pacific Pizza Company, that took its old location is not that good); the major change is the decor, which is nicer and a little more contemporary. Maybe the service will pick up in time, but it was incredibly slow on this visit. I ordered a chopped salad with meat to go and it took over 40 minutes. Unfortunately, the very patient gentleman who ordered before me waited 50 minutes for his pizza (only to discover that his pizza had already been made probably a long time ago but was forgotten by the staff). I do not know what happen to him (the nice staff did comp his meal); I left the restaurant as he stared at the forgotten pizza in disbelief. The chopped salad I had was okay though they forgot the meat. I imagine the service will get quicker in time, but I would advise not trying them right away. They have an outdoor seating area where you can sit if you want to watch traffic at the massive intersection of Lincoln and Manchester. It's actually not bad, to sit outside. Inside they have about 4/5 TVs running the same game. I'm sure they would have changed it if I asked. Food: The Pizza was really good. I didn't expect it to be with all the low reviews. They had fresh ingredients and the bread knots were decent. The knots were on the smaller and oily side of things, but it was ok. This place is beyond despicable in every possible way. It took 2 cashiers a full 5 minutes to take my order (1 single slice, btw) and I was the only one in line. They were beyond rude and very sarcastic. The "owner" was serving food and then had to make a trip to the bank so I had to wait even longer until the new cashier figured out why I was waiting. I wouldn't dream of going back to this place even if my meal was free. Prices are too high; portions are too small; menu is confusing; location is hard to even access; food is lukewarm and palatable at best. I stayed in the hotel near Beach Pizza. I was really forced to choose somewhere to eat because I was very hungry. LA is very intimidating to me, and trying something new is outside my comfort zone. A 3 is average and this place is average. I've tried Beach about 4 times since they opened. It's not bad but I've had better at some of the neighboring places. Look, for the price point, I'd expect to love it and I just don't take their pizza that seriously. I work close by and we buy several pizzas at least once a year for work. We buy them elsewhere and just buy the gluten free pizza from them (I think it costs about $14-15). I was told that the gluten free pizza is pretty good. I just had Beach yesterday at a conference I was attending. Bland, not much flavor and cheese wasn't gooey and memorable. When I eat pizza and put those carbs in, I want it to be worth my while. Great pizza (especially the cheese) good chicken cheese steak. decent salad. our second time was a little slower, almost left and the pzza wasn't quite as good. Ordered delivery - pizza, wings and garlic knots. Someone said the knots don't have garlic and that person is a wrong person. It's not overkill like some other places but the perfect balance. Meat lover pizza was excellent. Great crust, ham was a nice bonus. Will def order again. Or got that big ole cookie too. YUM.
