This is a Old School restaurant/divebar. It's a welcoming place and off of the touristy strip. And still mostly local.

Good food at a fair price! Underrated on yelp. Was featured on tv show, Diners, drive-ins and dives. With Guy Fierie (sp).

Such a gem! This food is delicious!!! I can't believe how good it was- it's been a few days and I desperately want to eat it again. I wish I was closer to this restaurant. My husband picked it up and even with the hour drive it took for him to bring it home everything was still so good and fresh. The fries were so seasoned and great. The quesadilla was thick and cheesy. The chicken was very good! I had the option to get grilled or fried and I chose fried. I would totally order it the same way. The buffalo sauce wasn't too spicy. The ranch was 5 stars alone! So good! Also found out that Guy Fieri visited! No wonder it's delicious' I'm not a fish eater but I'd totally come back to order the exact same thing. Service was great. We absolutely love this place! It's our go-to spot whenever family comes to visit, and we just found out it's actually family-run--that makes it even better. The food is always amazing. I had the She Crab sandwich (seriously delicious) and couldn't get enough of their broccoli salad. My husband got the fish and chips, and it was spot-on too. The Beach Pub is a nice little lunch spot and the service was good. Guy Fieri has had this on his show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives on the food network. They serve you nice size portions, but I will say I wasn't crazy for the sandwich I had or the macaroni salad, maybe I ordered the wrong thing because I will tell this place was packed, so they obviously are good. This is a homey dive in every sense of the word. You have a bar in the back with a good supply of locals enjoying each other's stories and tv's. Up front is the dining room, very dated, but that was ok, it all fit together. I ordered something I had not had before...clams with garlic and bacon. It was really good and gone too fast. The drawn butter was petfect with this dish. My only comment was to wish the bacon was crisper. The service was excellent, just the right amount. read more

The last time I gave The Beach Pub a review it was not a good one. As we walked out because we never got helped. We decided after some time to give them another try. The difference was night and day. 180 degree turnaround. Greeted as soon as we walked in the door. We sat down menus were right there. In just minutes a waitress was there to get our drink order and asked if we questions and explained the specials for the afternoon. This was a 100% better experience. read more

After a full day, my wife and I decided on visiting the beach pub for our dinner. With only a few days to spend in the area I am so happy we chose this place over others. We sat at the bar while having college games on the TVs. It brought back so many wonderful memories. Our bartender made a wonderful Manhattan for me and a cocktail for my wife. For our main courses, my wife decided on the lasagna special while I ordered their shrimp and crab dinner. Our meals came out relatively quickly. My shrimp and crab was absolutely delicious with wonderful hush puppies! My wife enjoyed a lasagna as well it was huge and delicious. Decent food, good customer service but the prices have definitely gone up over the last 2 years.

My family and I have been trying to eat at Bay Local and they always have a long wait time and don't take reservations. So I thought why not go to Beach Pub that has been around for years and a local favorite. No wait for a party of 6 at 11:00 on a Sunday. We all ordered breakfast and it was great. Food was good and hot. Mimosas were average. The service was a little slow but our server was personable and nice. I haven't been there in probably 30 years but I will definitely go back. read more

My first time at Beach Pub on Laskin while visiting the area. The Smash Burger was tasty, hot and filling. The red velvet cheesecake was incredible and the shrimp is simply delicious. My family and I stopped by the Beach Pub while we were visiting VAB because my grandfather helped open the restaurant years ago before he passed. Since the last time we had visited (~20 years ago), quite a bit has changed and we were a little disappointed. There is quite a bit of coast guard/surf and rescue/military memorabilia inside the restaurant that pays tribute to my family's heritage which is a nice touch. However, we sat outside in a large booth that rocked back and forth, and the environment was pretty loud due to road/air noise. My family ordered the Barco Clams to share (clams, garlic, bacon, but they were just meh), and my dad and I split the 1 lb of shrimp which was the daily special - there is no way I would've been able to eat all of the shrimp by myself (huge portion!). We added a side of potato salad to our meal which was a little smaller than what I was expecting, so the side was hard to share. Most of the food tasted great. Our waitress was lovely and really tried her best to be attentive during the evening since she told us the restaurant was pretty busy inside. We were in no rush to leave, but if you needed to get in and out quickly, you may have had some trouble with the service. read more

I placed an online order for the steamed shrimp special. The shrimp were good, but rather than being steamed in Old Bay, they were plain and there was a container of Old Bay in the bag. The hush puppies were overcooked. Most importantly, when I've ordered over the phone, the special included two sides. I didn't realize that by ordering online, I got nothing but the shrimp and hush puppies, very disappointing!!! We decided to visit here based on the recommendation of a local who said the She crab soup is delicious. The restaurant has been around since the 70s and by the looks of it the place hasn't been updated since then. We were seated as soon as we arrived and Theresa was our server - she was great! We loved the crab dip and the house made chips! The she crab soup - well ... that really wasn't love - it lacked flavor I would say using a bit of sherry in it would change it completely and make it delicious! The flounder was a HUGE portion and included the skin under the breading - ok, but not fabulous since I didn't love the skin on it and it was pretty greasy. Loved the variety of sides - including broccoli salad and beets! I didn't picture the crab in butter that was ordered as it was pretty disappointing. It is a nice idea, but there was a bunch of cartilage in it so it was crunchy - would not recommend (note- when using canned crab meat it really needs to be sifted through before serving). I think this is a nice local stop that has a big menu and loads of potential. I have a feeling maybe we just picked some of the wrong things because the things we enjoyed were delicious. read more

Went there for breakfast for the 1st time. Definitely a low key, locals place. Which I love. I love all the old photos on the wall and you could tell there were quite a few regulars there. It's not a fancy place at all....just a good old local place. Service was friendly and fast. I bet if you are regular they will take care of you. I got a basic breakfast with scrambled eggs, home fries, bacon and rye toast. It was all delicious but that toast was life. I would go back just for the toast. Thick cut, rye, perfectly toasted and buttered. Yum!! My coffee cup was never empty. Love the placements on the table. Reminded me of my childhood dining in places like Mr. Steak and Antonios.....local places. If you are looking for a local place and not touristy then come here for breakfast. read more

This quaint restaurant has been around for decades. The staff is exceptional. Once they know your name they don't forget it. Currently Thursday breakfast special is French Toast. It comes with a choice of absolutely delicious bacon. Or 2 eggs, or 2 fat sausages. All of which deserve an A+. An added bonus of their special syrup with pecans is available. What a great added bonus. I have had some darned good French toast over the years but Beach Pub's is by far the best. It is like a basic French Toast amped up. Perfect dive bar and restaurant with rock solid simple food. Fried flounder is outstanding. They have specials all the time. We had the smashburger special and it was excellent. Service is beyond friendly. Look, if you want modern decor, asian fusion, or kale, go somewhere else. If you want fried seafood and a cold beer with old timey sides like broccoli salad and pickled beets, then join the local regulars and soak up the authenticity. We have been here twice. We picked this place because it was on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" -- the atmosphere was definitely dive-ish, and the food was mediocre at best and way overpriced for the quality. The service was slow despite there being almost no one there. Usually Triple-D recommendations are solid -- but not this time. read more

Right off Laskin road, it's very noticeable. I had a crab omelet, and though it was a little costly to get it how I wanted (5 eggs), it was good. The soft shell crab Benedict was good as well. The girl serving us was doing very well serving so many tables and being attentive. Would definitely come back. read more

I come here when I get my oil changed. It was listed on Triple D back in the day. Is it Triple D worthy, not really in my humble opinion. Was it decent? Yes. Although I prefer their breakfasts better. That's just me. I come here, order their all day breakfast, then go about my normal day. Yeah. I'm a creature of habit. I like getting my oil changed quick, but due to circumstance, I enjoy having oil changed while I grab breakfast. After all, I do it for 3 vehicles on a regular basis. My father taught me to always maintain my cars and I'm better at than my husband. After all, he blew his engine after not taking care of maintenance and ignoring it. read more

This restaurant was recommended by a Virginia Beach local, who we met while on a Dolphin watching excursion thru the Virginia State Aquarium (highly recommend!) Once upon a time, the "Beach Pub" was a "Run-A-Way Bill" Favorite hangout ... for 20 years! Today, it not only lost it's character as a "customer memory bar" (with customer memory plaques on the walls), but also lost it's great "Been There, Seen It, Done It!" atmosphere by adding ceiling lighting that makes me feel I am in an Apple Store. My family and I have been coming to the Beach Pub for the past twenty years - and those are only the visits that I've accompanied, the extended family has been coming for closer to forty. The food never disappoints. Before we get into the food, however, let's address the elephant in the room. What the Beach Pub is NOT is pretentious. Do not be surprised if your meal is served on plastic cafeteria-style plates. Don't expect to be blown away with ultra-chic modern decor or fancy tables. The restaurant is clean. Their focus is on the food and nothing but the food. Now with that out of the way, today's feast was the $9.99 Shrimp Skillet Special. My dining companion got a classic staple breakfast of Lox & Cream Cheese on bagels. The Skillet had an excellent broil flavor that penetrated the entire shrimp and filled my mouth with yummy noises that paired well with the rice, beans, pico de gallo, sour cream, and the cheese blend that was kissed by the salamander to give it that lovely broiler cheese melt. For ten bucks and it came with a side, this was a lovely special I sincerely hope makes its way into the regular menu. I even picked up a second order to go for dinner! The corn pudding was perfectly fluffy, light, and sweet. Don't sleep on the broccoli salad - visually it might be a bit sketchy, but it's great! Light, crisp, and refreshing with loads of tasty bits of broccoli, bacon, cheese, walnuts, and other goodies. You won't regret it! The Lox & Cream Cheese is a staple that we have gotten almost every week for the past twenty years. They offer massive piles of Lox, more for one half of the bagel than most other places provide for a whole order. If you're a salmon lover and have never had Lox & Cream Cheese on a bagel, put this on your bucket list now if not sooner! Our waitress, Mary, was personable and friendly as always.
