Crab Cakes
Juliette G.

Beach walk cafe at the Henderson Park Inn was the perfect restaurant! Breakfast - the pancakes are so buttery and fluffy. The stack was very large so I ordered one pancake and it was perfect. I tried the original and chocolate chip on two different days. You can ask to take your breakfast to go and have it on the beach! Dinner Day 1 -Bread - the honey butter was so sweet and complimented the warm bread perfectly. -Crab Cakes - possibly one of the best I've had throughout the country. These are like a southwest crab cake. Super delicious and the peppers balance out the crab. This can be an entree on their own! - Fried Chicken - they are so crisp and tender. It's half a chicken so bring a friend or date to share! The rosemary isn't too strong and the well balanced. Dinner Day 2 - Lobster Bisque - this one is more tomato based. Closer to a tomato soup! There was a VERY generous amount of lobster. A grilled cheese with this would have been perfect! - Mixed Green Salad - bacon lovers this is the salad of your dreams. The salad was on the sweeter side. The tart strawberries and goat cheese was wonderfully balanced. - Snapper - I'm not the biggest fish person but this was perfect. The mushroom/ corn risotto was the real star of the dish! And it was topped with matchstick truffle fries. I would definitely order this dish again! I topped the meals off with a nice cup of coffee. The service here was amazing. I was very impressed. I did not have to leave the Inn to indulge in a wonderful meal. Why would you when the restaurant is so wonderful! I look forward to my next visit.

Snapper was fabulous!

Absolutely stunning in all areas- food, service and ambiance! We had lobster tails, crab cakes and snapper. All amazing!!

Lobster tails

Let me start by saying I've had dinner at Beach Walk Cafe 3 times, and lunch there twice. The food has been consistently outstanding. The crab cakes, lobster tails, and grouper live rent free in my head! The views are unparalleled, and, up until my latest dining experience (8/23/25), the service has been absolutely impeccable. Sadly, my latest visit was beyond disappointing, as the customer service was not acceptable. I made a reservation (via telephone) for my party of 5. I specified we wanted to be seated outside, and I was assured that would not be a problem as parties of 5 or more are seated outside. There was a pop up shower right before we arrived, so the chairs/tables outside were wet when we got there. When I checked in with the host, he told me we could not be seated outside given the weather (which I understood). Here's where it got sticky: the option he gave me for our party of 5 was to be seated indoors at 2 separate tables. I asked if he could put the tables together (for obvious reasons - a group of 5 women on vacay want to sit together), and was told no. I was taken aback, and let him know (in a very kind manner) we wanted to be seated together, and 2 tables wouldn't work. He then said he could wipe the chairs and table off, but it may take a minute. Unfortunately, the kindness and patience I showed him was not reciprocated. He appeared inconvenienced and visibly unhappy. We were seated after a few minutes; the chairs and table were clean, dry, and I was encouraged the night would pick up (service-wise). I was mistaken. Our server (I believe his name was Dexter; however, I'm not certain) left much to be desired. He was less than friendly, and was inattentive. My dirty dinner plate sat long enough I had to push it toward the center of the table to get it out of my way, and the remaining dirty dishes weren't cleared when I was served my dessert wine (pic attached). Throughout the meal, I never felt welcome by him. This dinner was a gift from me to my friends, on our last night in Destin. The night was impacted negatively by the lack of customer service, and that should never be the case - esp when you're making a considerable purchase. I will more than likely give them another shot, given my other experiences were truly stellar. On the flip side, had this been my first time there, it most certainly would have also been my last.

Almond grouper special

We came here during the off season to celebrate our anniversary. We made a reservation ahead of time, but we probably could have walked in without one this time of year. We were impressed with the ambiance, food and service! Complimentary bread with honey butter was serviced. We started with the crab cakes appetizer. I had the almond grouper special and my husband ordered the tuna, cooked rare. We looked at the dessert menu but nothing stood out to us to order since we were so full from dinner. I would recommend and return while back in the area!

8 oz. USDA Prime Beachwalk Filet

The restaurant is well sited, well run and has everything you would expect from a place in this price range. My wife had the filet with mashed potatoes and asparagus, excellent all around. She also had the beet salad, excellent. I had the shrimp and grits. The shrimp were overcooked and in my experience with this dish, should have been deveined. This created an unappetizing crunchy "extra" that should not be present in a $55.00 entree. The dish was average, certainly not what I was expecting from a restaurant that was so good in every other aspect. Additionally, I had the Caesar salad and it was depressingly average. The service was good, but not great. The fried chicken looked amazing, so perhaps we will try it next time.

The Toes In The Sand experience was worth every penny. Service was great, food was great, we will definitely return!

Toes in the sand

We had the Toes in the Sand experience with Hunter and he did not disappoint!!!!! He was wonderful ! If you have a chance to go to the Beach Walk Cafe ask for Hunter you will not be disappointed!

For a quick lunch before flying home to Houston, this place was a wonderful reprieve from the tourists and heat. Sarah D was our server, and we had already heard that she gave great service and other yelp reviews. Delighted to hear that the glass of wine I wanted was on happy hour special for six dollars. They have other specials like old-fashioned Mondays and espresso martini Tuesdays. Bitterroot being on the way to the airport, this will definitely be on the list for next visit to Florida!

We had specified our party…read morehad kids in the reservation, & upon arrival, the table had kids menus ready in their seats which was a pleasant surprise. We ordered: -Beef tartare: this was delicious & one of the best tartares I've had. Generous portion. -Bone marrow & escargot: this was meh. It was hard to scoop the marrow out & hardly anything came out. Would be better to cut the bone length wise like other places. Also, the bread the escargot was on top of was wayyy too thick. -Foie gras torchon: rich & really delicious. Perfect ratio & balance of flavors to balance out the fattiness of the foie gras. -Blue crab pappardelle: this was amazing! If you're a crab lover, this is a must order. Generous portion of crab & great al dente pasta. -Husband ordered fish of the day (branzino I think?): fish was nicely cooked, but the sauce was inedible. Was way too sweet, like candy. -Kids had the fettuccine Alfredo & wagyu cheeseburger with fries from the kids menu. I thought both were overly salty, but they all enjoyed it. Fries were exceptionally good, but again, just too salty. Overall, we found some orders to be either exceptionally good or underwhelming. Service was attentive & we were given great wine recommendations to accompany our dinners. We enjoyed our meal & had plenty for lunch leftover with the generous portions.

Food is good but not spectacular. Still recommend this place if you are in the area. Service was…read morefriendly but was lacking a normal Japanese experience. For example, we had to ask for extra chopsticks. Ginger didn't come with the sushi so you have to ask for it as extra. Not sure if I was charged for it but typical places give it to you. Also no side sauce plate was provided. I'm used to traditional Japanese place that provides that for your soy sauce/wasabi mix. Ambiance is family friendly and clean overall.

After a long, long drive, decided to order some delivery for dinner. This was our second time…read moreordering from them, as we had them one time was last year and it was fantastic. This year we tried again and it was a huge mess. Ordered directly through the website, which kicks you over to Toast for delivery. The portions were anemic, especially for the price. The hibachi trio, consisting of filet, shrimp, and chicken, could've been a lunch size portion anywhere else. Terrible deal for $29. Filet was ordered medium rare, and came well done on top of it. In addition, there is nothing spectacular about any of the sushi rolls we ordered. Didn't think to take pictures before we started, but did grab pictures of the cucumber salad and the side salads. Side salad was nothing but a couple pinches of lettuce, for $5. Cucumber salad wasn't much better, they just throw in a couple cucumber slices and half a crab stick for $7. Of course, being delivery, the soy sauce and ketchup (for the kids meal) we ordered was missing. And the drinks we paid for were also missing. Called the store and they said they couldn't do anything because it was a Toast issue. Of course getting ahold of Toast was impossible. So I guess we just eat $6 for two drinks. When we initially called about the missing items, the first thing they tell us upon answering is a place answers is they don't have any more sushi. Makes me wish I had called in the order in the first place in order to pick it up myself, because after that would've gone elsewhere. And then it took nearly 10 minutes and speaking to multiple people to convince them I had actually ordered and paid for drinks. Offered to send them the email copy of my receipt, or text the picture of the receipt printed on the bag, both of which confirmed all of the missing items. Once they finally realized the error and agreed we were correct, that's when they told us to take it up with Toast. Too bad they slept so much. Was really good last year.

Anything you would ever need to fulfill any thirst cravings is probably available at Beach Liquors…read more We didn't really need any beer or alcohol but saw a sign boasting Florida's largest beer cave so of course popped in to scope it out. There's also a tasting room with bar top tables but there wasn't any tastings going on at the time of our visit. The store also has a selection of gifts/accessories to complete any and all your cocktail making needs. Beers are available by the pack/case or singles in the refrigerated section if you prefer to mix it up a bit and try a variety of craft beers, ciders, etc. Prices on the beers & alcohol seemed reasonable which was surprising since it's a very touristy area of town. There were also some very high ticket bottles too so probably a good option if you have any alcohol aficionados or bourbon connoisseurs in your life. No comment on service since we didn't really interact with any staff while we were browsing around.

If you need to pick something up for the hotel or condo while you're in for a week, there's no better place. Now, the true draw: the bourbon bar tucked away on the back side of the store. Just a small area (maybe 6 or 7 bar seats and a couple of high tops), but super relaxed with an outstanding selection of whiskies by the pour, plus some beers on tap (and I think I saw a few wines, and there are a couple of cocktails, including a tasty old fashioned). Very reasonable pricing, which surprised me because prices normally go the other direction in vacation locales. Bartender was welcoming and friendly, gave some good tips on local spots to check out, which I always appreciate. And patrons were a good mix of fellow travelers and locals, so many great bar conversations to be had! I'll be back a few more times this week, I suspect.
