What a FANTASTIC place to have a romantic dinner! It is quaint and beautiful without being stuffy and obnoxious. Food is WONDERFUL!! Service was amazing. My husband got the Ribeye Cap and said it was perfect! (He is a steak snob too! Lol) It came with garlic mashed potatoes and veggies that he said were done "just right". We had a great dinner tonight. Melanie, our waitress was just perfect. She came when we needed her, the courses were timed just right and our food was delicious. She was honest about portions, we didn't need extra sides. The eggplant with crab appetizer was my husbands favorite and the spinach salad was a perfect compliment with lots of pretty fruit. Where to begin with this place! We stayed at the Henderson for our honeymoon so on our first night we decided to order room service. We ordered the Maine lobster tail, grouper vince and the White cheddar infused lobster Mac and cheese. We were blown away with the amount of food we had! The dessert was delicious and enough to share! The food was so good we decided to eat here on our last night! The second time my husband enjoyed his Grouper Vince so much he ordered it again and I wanted to try the pan seared local snapper. Everything about this place and the food is amazing! For a starter we got the fried eggplant with crab meat on top; delicious even though we both would never order eggplant back home. My wife had the pan-seared cobia special and I got the lobster tail special, both were to die for! The chef even sent out a little taster of another bbq veal dish which was equally phenomenal. My wife swore she couldn't eat dessert but the turtle cheesecake was huge and amazing; again I don't personally like cheesecake but I helped her and it was the best I've ever tasted. We had such a fantastic night at the Beach Walk Cafe. We arrived just before sunset, so naturally we wanted to take some photos. Our server, Dustin, went above and beyond to tell us where and when we should take our pictures to ensure the best quality shots. Dinner began with complimentary hors d'oeuvres; a small fritter of some sort for each of us. We also ordered chicken and waffles for the table. So tasty! I had the grouper vince which was absolutely delicious. The honey worcestershire glaze was fantastic. For dessert, I had a huge slice of key lime pie. Some of the best I've ever had. Dustin's excellent service continued throughout the evening. He was extremely knowledgeable and courteous. We sat outside on the porch to enjoy the sunset, and I had worried that we would get cold outside. I needn't have been concerned, as Dustin brought blankets out for us! OUTSTANDING!!! This was the dining highlight of our recent short trip to Destin. Start with what really makes a restaurant great, the service. The valet was friendly and courteous. We were led to our beautifully set table on the deck overlooking the ocean by Joe, who was very professional and nice. Our server was Dustin. Hands down the BEST server we've ever had! He was knowledgeable, fun, courteous, professional, funny, patient, and kind. His suggestions really made great advice seem like friendly talk. The food was AMAZING! We split a couple of delicious appetizers, enjoyed amazingly beautiful entrees of expertly grilled lobster, lamb, and grouper that were paired with wonderful wines. We had dinner for Father's Day. Our waiter showed up about every 30 minutes. It took over 30 minutes to get drinks including a bottle of wine. Our waiter informed us at seating that the chef required entire food order be taken at the beginning and they would pace the dinner. The appetizer came out 45 minutes after ordering. After 75 minutes we still didn't have meal but at the 90 minute (3rd time waiter at table) he informed us only 10 more minutes. 20 minutes later we flagged him down to be told the chef did not like the way the beef Wellington looked and he was remaking it. I guess our other meals were put under heat lamp as they were luke warm when finally served. The waiter was always very aloof. No apologies at end of meal. The food was good but not worth the bad experience. We won't be back but I feel the waiter knew we weren't from area so didn't really care. read more

My wife and I came here for our anniversary this year. Let me tell you this place does not disappoint! They have complimentary valet parking. This place was a great dinner spot. It's a southern living restaurant which already says a lot. We loved the atmosphere and the view from the wrap around patio porch where we sat. We made reservations ahead of time which I think is very important. You can ask to be seated on the beach for dinner but it is pricey. Each person would have to order at least $100 in food and then there is a service charge of $150 to have access to the beach. Very romantic spot though if you wanted to impress someone. The food was very fresh and delicious. Obviously more fancy the chef gave us complimentary tomato tartar which was really good. Then I ordered the lemon thyme arancini which is fried risotto balls. They were pretty good. I had the Rockefeller pasta and the scallops melted in your mouth! The sweet gulf shrimp were huge and delicious. I loved my plate! My husband had the ribeye with the Mac and cheese and whipped potatoes. The plating was so beautiful. Mac and cheese was amazing! Destin has impressed me with their Mac and cheese skills. Finished everything off with an interesting take on key lime pie. It was whipped so it kind of tasted like a cheesecake. It had that tarty, sweet flavor I love. The food we ordered was way over salted, the tomato soup had too much smoke flavoring, and the shrimp were overdone. I've found that most people will accept subpar food because they are afraid to complain just because of reputation of the establishment. We came in as it opened for dining and were underdressed to say the least- nor would we have come quite so casually dressed if better informed before hand. Nonetheless, they kindly seated our table. Of the dishes we ordered I found the snapper special to be especially worth a mention. Good seafood is everywhere on the gulf, but not well done in many places. The snapper was perfectly cooked and topped with scallops that were not a rubbery afterthought. I would encourage non fish loving people to try it it if they offer it on a visit. Very good. Laid out on a sweet potato puree bed with fingerling potatoes and bacon vinaigrette finish that was both sweet and savory. My husbands steak was flavorful and tender with a wonderful grill flavor that did not overwhelm the taste of the meat. Truffle risotto well executed, not gummy, perhaps a touch more truffle oil than my I would have liked, but would order again. Date Night Destin Style I wanted to choose the rating that says "I'm a fan" (because I am) but that only gives 4 stars and this one deserves all five. I cannot lie...this was the best meal I've ever had at the beach, in Destin, and one of the best ever. I usually give a quick pros and cons list but I only have Pros so here we go: ATMOSPHERE Small, cozy, intimate. The interior dining room probably had 15 tables (a combination of 2- and 4-tops with a couple of larger ones). The perimeter of the dining room is all windows looking out at amazing ocean/beach/sunset views. Outside, they had maybe 6-8 additional tables on a covered porch. Equally lovely. There is also a "toes in the sand" package which we got to glimpse taking place. Picture it: 2 tables for 2 down in the sand, inches from the water, flanked by 4 tiki torches each, and with their own server. Anyone planning an engagement soon?? It has a very upscale feel without being pretentious or stuffy. My husband wore shorts and a polo. Others dudes were wearings shorts or khakis with a polo or button down. Girls have it easy in this regard. Cute sundress and you're good to go. Candles and flowers on the tables. Quiet enough to chat with your dining companion(s). FOOD Divine. I'm one of the 2% who travel to the beach each summer and don't like to eat seafood. There were several non-fishy options (the pork tenderloin sounded good but I opted for the filet). It was cooked perfectly, wonderful seasoning, and the sides were delicious. The meal began with some of the best homemade bread I've ever tasted and ended with what I believe is the best piece of key lime pie I've ever had. SERVICE Attentive without being smothering. It's a small restaurant so I wouldn't expect much less, however, our glasses were never empty, all of our questions were answered, specials and suggestions were shared, and we exchanged friendly banter but then we were left on our own. EXTRAS At the end of the meal, men are presented with the check and ladies are given a rose. (Sorry, fellas.) Reservations are highly recommended and they do not allow guests under the age of 13 in the dining room. I love kids, but not when I'm on date night. I've either paid handsomely or gone to some extreme measure to shake my child off my leg, so I don't want to see or hear anyone else's. We actually watched a family walk in seemingly from the beach, looking hungry and like they were trying to scratch out a meal. The front desk attendant chatted with them briefly, then there was pointing down the road. As I ran a remaining piece of bread around my plate, sopping up some demi glace, I imagined them being pointed to the nearest tourist trap restaurant where kids are welcomed and their food is served in a sand pail. The cafe is part of Henderson Park Inn, a charming, Nantucket-style, 35-room bed-and-breakfast. From the moment the valet opened my car door and I entered the building, I was ensconced in an elegant, beachside refuge. After dinner, we strolled the grounds, snapping some sunset pictures and taking in the sights and sounds of a quiet beach at dusk. Not quite ready for our evening to end, we settled around a fire pit on the back of the property and listened to a concert of waves, gulls, and cicadas putting on their nightly performance. Bruce and I have had the pleasure of dining at the Beach Walk Café at The Henderson Park Inn the last two nights (yesterday Bruce booked the Toes in the Sand dinner out on the beach which is a private, ocean front, white linen table dinner just for us and how he purposed a year ago yesterday! Today we dined in the location which is a 25+ restaurant & resort unless married. No children allowed on the property what so ever which is what drew Bruce and I to the property). The entire dining experience is exquisite- the servers (we highly recommend Brandon! He took care of us during the Toes in the Sand dinner and he went the extra mile- literally! Running back and forth from the restaurant to the beach to wait on us hand and foot) Michael the manager took time to get to know the both of us, and even hooked us up with a special bottle of wine, to the chef (Daniel) preparing each dish with such precision and care and personally delivering our meal to us accompanied by Michael. The entire experience and ambiance of the restaurant is devine. 5 stars. If you're in the Destin, Florida area and have the opportunity to stay with The Henderson Park Inn, it'll be the opportunity of a life time.
