I am so thankful for Cafe Collage, which is prominently located near the Venice boardwalk, yet still offers a bit of an escape from the touristy places. It feels like more of a local spot and offers better quality food at more affordable prices. I was thrilled to see they had many vegan options too! I opted for the vegan breakfast burrito, which sounded very savory and hearty! You can place your order right at a kiosk and they make it promptly for you! The staff were so friendly and helpful in ensuring I got the correct order. They have a few tables available for sitting both inside and outside. While the chairs weren't the comfiest, they were still sufficient while I waited for my order to be made! The ambiance is bright and cheery and colorful. The breakfast burrito was fantastic and so filling! I actually wasn't able to eat it all at once and had to save some of it for later! I loved the taste and texture of the braised tofu and the hash brown was perfectly crispy and not too oily! The guacamole was also a star in being perfectly creamy and well spiced. I would definitely recommend this dish and order it again! The jackfruit is also calling my name, though, so I would love to return soon just for that! Their pastry case was also filled with some delicious looking vegan pastries! Parking was fairly easy in their neighborhood with plenty of free parking but there are also meters and paid parking lots available if you need something closer!

But that was then, and this is now. Dipped into this wonderful little cafe that's at ground zero of everything Venice beach. And while the main server was a tad bit pushy, the iced coffee I requested to show off in one of the pictures was a 10 out of 10. If and when you decide to roll through to Venice Beach you definitely want to hit up this particular cafe.

Great açaí. Terrible salad…read more Looking for a healthy bite for lunch close to Venice Beach. This place has a huge variety of options - too many for an order at the register spot. Hubby asked the cashier what they do well. "Sandwiches! And smoothies, Açaí bowls." He did not say salad. But I ordered one anyway. I'll listen next time! They have lots of coffee and baked goods options too. The atmosphere is perfectly beach chill. Upstairs seating with windows (I didn't visit that area), and outdoor patio. They could use someone cleaning between tables but other than that, it was a pleasant spot to people watch and chat. Only downside to the big patio area is it's a Covid era build, so it's right next to traffic. When a big truck parks at the light, you're eating next to its exhaust. But that didn't happen often and it was a Saturday. So if you like the sun as much as I do, choose this section. Also - don't come here for eco friendly or insta worthy pics of the food. It's all served in to go containers. I don't eat açaí often. Rarely. But when I do, I'm always pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy it. So when I tasted hubby's, I was taken aback at how much more I enjoyed it than any other I've had. I don't know what it is. The açaí itself tasted like the deepest dark cherry, it had a flavor and texture that was lovely! Generous portions of lightly sweetened coconut shreds and crunchy granola - maybe that's why it was so good? They didn't hold back on these at all! And the banana was fresh, tasty. If you order this you will not be disappointed! The Kale salad, though? Not great. They just chopped up some kale and threw it in there without softening it with oil, or rubbing it or whatever other Kale salad makers do so that one can actually chew the kale. So salt, so seasoning on it whatsoever. The other ingredients were the same. The olives were clearly just some basic sliced olives from a cheap can. Not the kind required for a salad. The grape tomatoes and side of dressing were the only elements that I enjoyed. It domes with some butterless toasted bread (like - toasted til it's tears came out dry and crunchy) and a side of decent hummus. The hummus was good, but I didn't want to eat it with the dry bread. Lucky for me I wasn't really hungry. My take is this is a great option if you stick to what the cashier says they do well. I vouch 100% for the açaí bowi! Also side note, it's not eco friendly and you won't get insta worthy pics of the food. It's all served in to-go containers.

The owner/chef Paul is a Italy native raised in Youngstown Ohio making homemade cured Italian charcuterie next to his mother and learning the ins and outs of all her Italian dishes that make the customers at this café swoon. With Paul's traditional heavy Italian roots and his chef cuisines French and American hybrid background what results is simply magic if you can get an invitation, I highly suggest you take them up on it because it is a very rare thing to be invited. After all the café can only serve 12 covers a night and they aren't open every day. It's hit or miss typically it's 3 to 4 days a week although they will do private parties if you call it far enough in advance, I've seen that they catered friends wedding or two.
