A great little breakfast spot right across from the LMU campus. I know it's popular for the LAX crowd as well because it is not far if you're heading to or from the airport. There is a free parking lot attached in the back otherwise street parking is also easy to find. Inside is pretty large, they have many different sized tables and service here is always very fast. They also have a very large menu so you can always find a different great option each time you stop in. For this most recent order I chose the Marinated Steak Benedict and added avocado and really loved it. It is actual steak, which was seasoned and cooked perfectly. It really had a lot of flavor and I enjoyed every part of it. I also appreciated how the side of fruit had a lot of watermelon and pineapple because so many other places just throw you all the cantaloupe and melon. My family and I came here to grab breakfast before heading to the airport. It's about 10 minutes from the airport. Upon entering, you are hit with bright orange seating contrasting against the dark wooden tables. There is a hostess waiting to take your name down and give you your estimated wait time. We were a a party of four and waited about 7 minutes until our table was ready. Once seated, our server came over to get our drink order. Our server was polite and attentive to our needs and checked in on us periodically. I ordered chicken and waffles. The waffle was fluffy, soft with crispy edges and flavorful. The chicken was crunchy, and Cooked to perfection. The iced coffee was a little sweet for my liking. Prices were reasonable and comparable to other breakfast/brunch places. On Mother's Day, our family gathered at the Nook breakfast spot near my daughter's school, LMU, to celebrate. We found convenient parking nearby and were promptly seated at a booth for five. Several family members ordered samosas, but they weren't very good paired without the orange juice. We "doctored" the drink by adding the orange juice I ordered make the drink palatable, as the other flavors didn't work for us. I ordered a stack of banana and strawberry pancakes, while others chose turkey sausage, scrambled eggs, and hash browns. My wife commented that the bacon was good, and my children enjoyed the turkey sausages. However, the bacon arrived alongside some rice that was far too salty to eat, and the hash browns were so plain that none of us could finish them. As for my pancakes, they were basic and lacked distinctive flavor andpresentation, so I wouldn't order them again. Overall, the atmosphere was joyful, relaxed, and casual, and the service was decent. When we arrived we saw a guy in the parking lot acting as a valet; he's not that and he's not affiliated with the restaurant so people - parking is free. My friend is a vegetarian and I'm a flexatarian (yup I said it!) so the options were there and we were satisfied! I got the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and home fries. I hesitated to write this because I really don't like negative reviews, but I need to be honest. Took my family there for breakfast on a Monday. About 10 tables were occupied. Nothing crazy for the size place it is, plus it's a breakfast joint and that is actually in their name. Well this place is not good at all! Service was slow, I looked around and there were three tables with frustrated people waiting to pay their bill or waiting for a drink order. It took us a while to get coffee and a refill at that. The food was blah, I'm not a big eater but the portions were kid size. There was just nothing to each meal it was merely blah. It's a breakfast joint come on make good breakfast, make me want to come back.... I never get pancakes but I did this time... 2 small 4" discs that had zero flavor taste like cardboard if that's a flavor with a quarter size Scoop of butter not even that helped... let's face it all of our meals were not good at all, we all left more than half of our kid size meals behind because there was nothing worth the calories. Breakfast is usually a cheap Meal.... This bill was about $150 for 5 with the usual Drinks, 3 coffees and two Waters and one $5 mimosa.... So not a crazy order. Don't think I'll return unless they change something or they take breakfast out of their name.... You literally are supposed to specialize in breakfast!! Great selection of breakfast items and strong coffee! So far I'm a fan of their chorizo eggs and chilaquiles. Great portions and authentic in flavor. Nook also serves the usual traditional breakfast as well and served up by your friendly server. Came here with my parents for breakfast. Dad and I ordered a breakfast burrito and mom ordered the corned beef hash. Serving size is pretty generous. The one thing I liked about the burrito was they panini pressed it to make the tortilla a bit crispier on the outside. The burritos came with potatoes inside and a side of tortilla chips and salsa. Mom said the corned beef hash was pretty decent but was disappointed with the biscuit. She said it wasn't very fluffy and more bready. Overall not a bad brunch spot. Service was fast and we were pretty much in and out in under an hour start to finish.
