How many car mechanics are able to keep a 4.8 rating on yelp? I would venture to say not many. The reputation in this field is like many are shysters, they are difficult , etc... Well, welcome to Willy's in HB, near Hans, near other car mechanics. If you have your favorite car mechanic and he's doing you right, then stay put, you are stoked. I personally did not have anyone helping me out with my T1 - first gen Dodge Sprinter partly because they are made well and built to last. But alas my luck with my wonderful van was running dry and it was time to go in and trouble shoot why the van wasn't making up hills very well. So over a period of one week of diagnosis, small fix, return back to me cuz I needed it, more research, more looks, patience, thoughtful communication and a vested interest in actually getting to the heart of the issue and fixing it...Willy himself saw to it that the job was done right and restored the van back to its usual punchy self. He was recommended to me by my Aussie friend Garth who knows this industry very well. And Garth was right, Willy's in HB is legit and has earned their 4.8 stars on Yelp. He's a goodie. I thought my brakes were going out and I looked through Nextdoor to see who my neighbors recommended, and Willy's kept coming up as HIGHLY recommended & honest, so I reached out to him. Because he felt it was a safety issue, he got me in the very next day. He gave a quote of possibilities and I went over to Central Park to walk while I waited... He called me 45 minutes later saying the brakes were good, but the former shop that I "trusted" put on aftermarket brakes even though I paid for new brakes! BMW of Irvine Said that I needed to change out my turbo engine and that they were going to charge me $8500. I needed to get a second opinion and I went to Willy and he reassured me that that quote was way too high and that he was going to take a really good look at it to find out what was the real problem. Willie also said that my oil was a very dark color and it didn't make sense to him that I paid for an oil change two months ago. I believe BMW was never taken care of my oil change, so it caused an oil leak in the tube and all Willy had to do was change out a tube and he took care of the oil for me. I highly recommend him he was very reasonable in pricing, amazing communication skills about your car, and took the time to take care of me as a customer I would highly recommend going to Willy's. read more

Had work done with willie years ago and no problems. This last time around not so good. Had them Replace 2 tie rod ends and an do an alignment. They replaced the tie rod ends, and did the alignment. The truck alignment pulls just as bad, if not worse than before the alignment. When they air chiseled the tie rod end off, (takes 15 minutes but charged an hour) they kept going and chiseled a big hole in the brake backing plate directly behind the tie rod end that rubbed on the rotor and put a chink in the rotor. No mention of this to me, "just hope i dont notice." No mention of the ripped cv boot. Now looking at it, it's just inches away from the tie rod, end and they probably ripped the boot and hoped i didnt notice. It took 4 1/2 hours to do about an hours worth of work. Sitting there waiting the whole time So now im replacing brake rotors and trying to track down a backing plate Pay a professional and look what i get. read more

Great place for alighnment. Price was reasonable for a lifted tundra. I had to come a second time since my truck settled and was drifting to the right side. Due to new suspension settling. I have a Tesla Model S that needed front brakes and rotors (Brembo). The work was performed flawlessly and at a reasonable price. Moreover, Willy (who worked on my car himself) tightened the suspension as part of the brake service. We've been customers of Willy for a few years now and I forgot that I haven't yet written a review (my bad!) Months back, Willy told me this while we were chit chatting. He said, "I want to keep you as a customer which means I will make sure your cars run as long as possible, and doesn't cost you a lot to maintain. Because when you get a new car then you may stop coming to me or come to me less often while car is under warranty." Well, maybe not word for word but that's the gist of it.
