I was originally planning to redeem that offer at this location, which is closest to me, but when I was about to check out, the cashier mentioned that this isn't a participating location for their rewards program. I had no choice but to leave the cookies at the counter and redeem the offer at the nearby Cerritos location. With that in mind, I legitimately didn't think I'd have any reason or rhyme to even make a purchase at this location, which is inside the Lakewood H Mart. However, I was getting hangry, and I still had a few errands to run afterwards. While I was making my way around the store and towards the checkout, I wanted to stop by to see what goodies they had in their display case. First and foremost, in spite of its close proximity to the Cerritos location, don't get these two locations confused. The Cerritos location is a standalone location that participates in the rewards program, but this Lakewood location is significantly smaller. Apart from the front counter where you pay for your purchases, there's only one counter with a display case on that counter and some other baked goods on either side of that display case, and that's pretty much the whole store. Did I also mention that you have to pay at their front counter? Yeah, don't take a pastry and pay at an H Mart checkout lane; that's not going to work. I will admit, however, I was a little afraid that the H Mart cashier would ask me to scan an already purchased TLJ bakery item, but the TLJ paper bag I was given was an immediate tell that I had already paid for my baked good. What baked good did I get? The Yuzu Pie, and the only reason I ordered it was because it was the last one left in their display case. It came in at a hefty 420 calories for 13 quarters, and it was quite a large pastry that it wasn't a surprise there was only one left when I visited on a Saturday early afternoon. I grabbed their last Yuzu Pie and headed towards the front counter, initially with my shopping cart, but since there wasn't much room between their two counters, I just left my cart in front of the display case while I paid for the Yuzu Pie. As I was paying, I asked the cashier (Sarah?) how long a baked good like the Yuzu Pie would last either in the fridge or on the counter. She simply replied that the pastries should be eaten the day of purchase and that if you're not going to eat it that day, put it in the fridge. Okay, but that didn't quite answer my question of how long exactly. I didn't want to counter with another question since I was already planning on eating it right after leaving the store. However, it would have been good to know if, for example, it would have held up well for a good treat the next day or even the day after that. Anyways, Sarah placed the Yuzu Pie and my receipt in a TLJ paper bag to signify my having purchased the baked good. And after paying for my H Mart groceries just a few minutes later, I went outside to enjoy my sweet treat. The Yuzu Pie came wrapped just like most of their other pastries. I didn't actually take note of which pastries come unwrapped, but I believe most, if not all, of the pastries at this location are wrapped. I don't really know what Yuzu tastes like, and after eating that pie, I still don't know what Yuzu tastes like. It wasn't a bad pie per se, but the flavor of the fruit didn't come out as strong as evidenced by the rather thin layer of filling inside the handheld pie. I did like how the pie was pretty flakey similar to a croissant, but it was mostly hollow inside. While I appreciate how this made the pastry not as dense, I felt they could have added more filling inside the pie so I could have enjoyed it better. At least the price point was reasonable for this pastry, whose size I'd say was somewhat comparable to that of a Hot Pocket or a burrito. I can see Paris Baguette selling a similar pastry, but for a dollar more, which I think would be a bit much, especially if they were to skimp on the flavor and filling as well. Overall, not a bad shop to go to that if you've spent a great deal of time shopping inside H Mart, it would make for a decent spot to treat yourself to a nice treat. However, like I said, you can't earn rewards points with purchases from this location, so I probably won't make another purchase here unless I get hangry again while shopping inside H Mart.

If you want to eat it like a Filipino, then you can eat it with processed cheese, with corned beef hash (seasoned with tons of garlic and onions), or with butter. For the longest time, Valerio's has been cash only; however, I'm glad to see that they're now taking card, Apple Pay, and G pay. Note that there is no seating inside. While they're known for their breads, I couldn't avoid buying a turon (caramelized banana in an egg roll wrapper), chicken empanada, and veggie egg roll. I bought all of this (6 pieces of bread, two turon, chicken empanada, and an egg roll) for a little more than $10. My wife loves the cheese rolls from here (and she prefers it here to Portos); however, I think it's her nostalgic childhood favorite dessert. The take home point is that the value can't be beat for their breads and sweets. Definitely come for the pandesal; however, turon is a magical egg roll that's one of my favorite desserts on earth. But I will say, the bun with the coffee filling inside is spectacular, and I would recommend it to anyone who loves coffee. At night, the selection of the breads is extremely limited, but the place is still popular due to the large variety of drink offerings. I also noticed I had a 5% cash back deal on my credit card for a Baskin-Robbins purchase, so needless to say, I had to go out and treat myself to some ice cream for a 34.45% (not 36% if you do the math correctly) discount. When I came in, an employee (Humerah?) welcomed me and told me that I was free to sample however many flavors I'd like. I hadn't taken advantage of the 31% off offer since I hadn't gotten around to it yet, so I wasn't sure if the 31% off would still apply for a double or a triple scoop, but Humerah said it would. As much as I appreciate the opportunity to sample flavors before making a purchase, I definitely did not want to sample 31 different flavors lol. I tried samples of the flavors that initially caught my eye: Love Potion #31, Winter White Chocolate, and The Grahammy, in this particular order. I had been to other Baskin-Robbins a handful of times before, but don't recall seeing those flavors since they appear to be pop-up flavors that will get taken off the menu soon after this review gets posted. I especially appreciated how Humerah was very courteous and patient while I was trying to downselect the flavors for my desired triple-scoop. Victimized by analysis paralysis, I had momentarily forgotten that each flavor name posted on the ice cream chests was supplemented by a description until I saw the one for The Grahammy. She was still happy to answer my questions even when the answers were right in front of me lol. I went with the triple scoop of the three flavors I had just tried samples of. The flavors were stacked in the same order as I tried them from bottom to top, meaning that I tried The Grahammy first. Upon checkout, Humerah offered a spoon, a lid, as well as a takeout bag to go with my triple-scoop cup. For some reason, I saw a cup of a single scoop in front of the register when I was paying. There wasn't any other customer inside the shop when I arrived, but there was a family that came in after me, and they were still trying to decide what to get when I had made my choices. The shop has the flavor name as The Grahammy, but their website simply says The Graham. Whatever the name is, just know that it's a Flavor of the Month that consists of chocolate covered honeycomb pieces and honey graham cracker swirls. I know some people don't like nuts in their ice cream, but if you haven't had graham crackers in ice cream before, don't knock it until you try it! The combination of flavors and crunchy pieces together made such a nice medley that I highly recommend trying this flavor before it goes away! The Winter White Chocolate has white chocolate flavor (duh lol), but also contains pieces of cherries inside. I ate this second, but wish I could have cleansed my palate immediately after The Grahammy so that I could have experienced the taste of cherries in the Winter White Chocolate. Even so, the three scoops were all presented in a single cup, so it would be pretty easy to have a spoonful of two different flavors at the same time. I remember the sample tasting much better, however, to the point where I was sold on choosing that flavor. Love Potion #31 is a seasonal flavor that consists of both white chocolate and raspberries. Kind of like Winter White Chocolate I'd say, but with a different fruit lol. I felt the raspberries were a little sour here, but it was a nice contrast of flavor from the sweeter flavors I had already gotten. I'm assuming the flavor will be removed from the menu after Valentine's Day, so I'm glad I got to try it before the fact. Inside, there are two tables: one that seats four, and a bar-style table that seats about a half dozen. There's a kiosk at the end of the bar-style table that I am assuming you can use to place your order if you'd prefer minimal interactions with the employees. Also, the bottom of the receipt has an option for you to provide some feedback within three days of your purchase to get a coupon for $1 off your next purchase of at least $4. I almost considered giving them 4 stars because I didn't really taste the Winter White Chocolate, but I don't think I will. I think it was just a case of too much good being no good; I had never even consumed a double-scoop before, unless you count a BOGO single scoop as one. The triple scoop here definitely cooled me down on this hot day, and it was a nice treat after a pretty hectic week of work. And for a grand total of less than $7 after my two discounts? Can't beat that in today's economy! As I was driving west on South, I suddenly remembered there was a Baskin-Robbins at the intersection of Bloomfield, and I was wondering why there would be two Baskin-Robbins within close proximity of one another.
