The kiawe smoke is so good. It has a great flavor. All the meats were so moist! Ordered two sides, Mac & Cheese and Coleslaw. Both were really good as well. Will I be back? Definitely! Went back the next week and got a full slab of ribs and a half chicken. This time I tried the BBQ Beans for a side. They are off the chart delicious! I also ordered a two meat lunch. I did the brisket with Mac & Cheese and BBQ Beans. The meat was again, moist and delicious. The BBQ sauce is vinegar base and enhances the flavor of the leave smoke so well. The food trucks are next to my hotel, so after I finished work, I walked over. Only a handful were open after 6:30 pm. I made my rounds and stopped in front of Bearded BBQ. I'm fairly difficult to please when it comes to BBQ places. I ordered the brisket and a side of Mac-n-cheese. When I asked if the brisket was good, he just stared at me, so either he didn't hear me or I insulted him (he was definitely the bearded man on the truck). Getting to the meat of things, I take my food back to my hotel room and open up my little box of food. I tried the mac-n-cheese first. It was so good. Cheesy with different types of cheese for just the perfect flavor. The brisket was excellent and tender. The taste was amazing! I recently tried the Bearded BBQ food truck in Maui. It's next to the Courtyard Marriott hotel by the airport. There are quite a few other food truck options in the lot too. The owner is originally from Wisconsin and he has a passion for cooking except barbecue food. He recommended the pulled pork sandwich which is what I ordered. It was very tender and flavorful in a soft bun packed with slaw and pickles. I enjoyed every bite which had a window barbecue flavor combined with tender pulled port and contrasted with crunchy slaw and snappy pickles. I would highly recommend this place. read more

The seasonings and flavor of the pulled pork and sausage worked perfectly together. The mac and cheese was so saucy and flavorful. The beans were out of this world. I love smoking my own proteins. So, when the opportunity arises, I like to try new places. I am always open to learning new techniques and flavours. I am sorry to say that Bearded BBQ received my "Worst smoked meat in Hawaii" award. I understand that it is pretty brutal to judge a place by one meal, but you don't get to make the first impression twice. So what was wrong? My pork ribs were firm, some might rate it hard and served at room temperature. Think of a well-done steak that's been sitting on the table for an hour. The meat was still stuck to the bones. As most smoked meat lovers would know, the meat should separate from the bones without too much effort. I could also smell smoke, but it didn't taste too smokey. If I had to guess, Bearded BBQ served up the ribs too soon. Should have left them in the smoker or warmer for another hour or more. Should have recommended I order something else as the ribs weren't ready. read more

I got the two meat lunch plate with slaw and beans. It was cold. The the meat was undercooked and way too fatty. Slaw was soggy. Beans were ok. BBQ sauce was watery and barely had flavor. Overall a disappointing experience. I'll give them one more try but this one was a clear fail. read more

Where do I start? The rack of ribs had plenty of meat, little to no fat whatsoever, and was so well seasoned, I didn't even need to use the sauce included, I prefer no sauce anyways. The plate with chorizo, chicken thigh, beans, hard boiled eggs, mac n cheese was a combo I wasn't expecting to fit together so nicely. Same goes for the sandwich/burger options they offer, I enjoyed the sausage burger a lot. Messy, but delicious food, just like the cookouts I been to back home. Overall, the food is great, the service is great and professional, and was surprised to see a non-Hawaiian bbq anywhere near here in a gem of an area of food trucks. I recommend anyone visiting to try out all the food trucks they have there, since you can't go wrong with any of them. I'll definitely be coming back here next year. Mac and cheese was just terrible, comes in a small little cup and seemed like it had been sitting around for a very long time.
