The majority of the pizza was the think crust with very little room for toppings in the middle. But the prices for the size, even with the toppings, is expensive - you can go to NYC for some of the best pizza in the world and pay less, and you know "Joe's" Manhattan has more overhead than Beau Jo's of Arvada. We've given this place a few shots, but overall it just hasn't lived up to expectations. I've been to several Beau Jo's locations prior to this one. The last 3 times we've been here was for their Thursday night Geeks Who Drink trivia. The first time, it was set up out on the patio and we had a nice time. The second time, it was set up inside. The food was fine both times, but the time inside I saw a mouse scurrying along the wall near the old fashioned looking oven. Really turned me off from eating there again. We came back the third time because some friends wanted to do trivia and this was the closest location. If you're going to serve bar trivia, you have to understand when it's appropriate to approach your table. We were consistently interrupted by our server, who couldn't take a hint when we'd ask him to come back during a break. On to the meal. My wine was served in a hot glass, clearly had just come out of the dishwasher. My friend's pizza was bland, and she almost ordered something else to make up for it. I ordered the salad bar mainly for the soup, which was not there and had to ask a few times for it. At the end of the night, we looked at the bill to find we had been charged for a pitcher of beer that we had not ordered. It took several tries to get this rectified. We had also won a free beer during the trivia, which was a hassle to have put towards our bill. Going forward, I think we'll stick to other locations for trivia. read more

Three hostesses and they still don't pay attention the the patrons coming in. I watched them ignore a guy while they were taking to two waiters and a cook. No one paid attention to the guy. It was funny watching him just look at the three of them wondering when they would acknowledge him. We were a group of two adults and two young adults. They put us in the back room where there were five families and young kids. The table they were seating us next to had screaming kids. The front room had five tables open and no kids. Made no sense at all. We requested to be sat somewhere else. Server didn't take our appetizer order. Took that price off our bill as an apology. Good customer service right there! Pizzas were good. Lots of meat. They didn't skimp on the toppings. They were good the next day too. My daughter had something that was pasta in a pizza crust. The pizza crust wasn't fresh. Didn't taste like the ones we had with the pizzas. My other daughter ordered the manicotti and she said it tasted like lasagna. Lots of sauce. Lots of sauce. I went here with three other friends. We ordered nachos, stuffed mushrooms, and two pies of pizza. Stuffed mushrooms were a little bland, but it was delightful. My favorite pizza was Hawaiian BBQ. However, the toppings are not even spread out. Each slice was either has too much toppings or too little toppings. My favorite part is eating the crust with honey. I love Beau Jo's it reminds me of being in Idaho Springs but now I can get my fix in town. I've been to this location multiple times and other locations dozens of times. I would recommend ordering a pizza off the menu over going to the buffet. The buffet is fine but I love getting some of their more unique pizzas. Also when you order a specific pizza it's more fresh. The pizza I seem to always come back to is the Pacific Plantation as a mountain pie. A Pacific Plantation is their take on a Hawaiian pizza (yes I'm one of those people who likes pineapple on their pizza). I love getting the whole wheat crust so then at the end you add some honey to the crust and you get a dessert too. read more

The prairie pie had quite a bit more toppings and cheese than the mountain pie. Definitely my pick of the two. The mountain pie tasted good, but it was almost all bread, with a skimpy amount of toppings and cheese. I felt pretty short changed on that one. I'm not sure what the 'lb' is referring to on the mountain pies. Is that the weight of the dough, or the weight of the toppings? And is that before or after cooking? I'm a huge fan of Beau Jo's and we usually go to the Idaho Springs location and often get pizza to go from there. We ordered our usual for pick up to go and it was the greasiest pizza I've ever had- nothing like what we usually get from Beau Jo's. The grease leaked through the bottom of the box all over my jeans- I've never seen that. The service at the counter wasn't particularly friendly- I was surprised and disappointed. This location does have an awesome patio and they were playing live music when we were there- they have a lot of indoor and outdoor seating too. A friend of mine introduced me to Beau Jo's about twenty years ago. I was excited to bring my husband and son so they could give them a try. I had a pepperoni mountain pie and our son got a kid's sausage pizza. My husband ordered a Pacific Plantation, which was like a ham and pineapple pie. He doused it in honey. I seem to remember more bubbles in the dough rather than thick doughy crusts, but it has been seven years since I visited. It was still fantastic. In fact, I should have gotten a cup of pizza sauce for those crusts. (Note to self...don't Yelp while hungry!) Our server was very friendly. My Favorite Part about Beau Jo's fine dinning establishment is the feeling of satisfaction you get from their Magical Salad Bar. Now most people are not as lucky as I. Their taste buds get to only experience the delectable smorgasbord of greens and accessories uno times. Myself on thee other hand got to Enjoy my salad at least 3 times, I only had to wait 8 hours, and it all happened from the comforts of kneeling over my porcelain lazy boy at 5 am in the morning. Now some may get saddened or even upset at the violent spray of chewed cucumbers, lettuce, goldfish, and tomatoes being Shotgun Blasted out of their esophagus at 100 mph encrusting the back wall of their American Standard Mega Flush 300 with a pastel orange waterfall Masterpiece of stomach bile. Or the they may have some slight discomfort in their "mountain pie hole" from a robust flavor left by their very own batch of stomach acid mixed with a nice texture of a half digested vegetable garden. Or the the strong nostril thrusts it takes to blow the bits and pieces of sharpened carrot, that took a detour from the Vomit Highway and GPS'd them selves directly to the septum. But I tell you this my friends, Mondays usually suck and it can be difficult to wake up with motivation to start your week. With the help of Beau Jo's I woke up extra early and am ready to fuck Monday Up worse then the Back Wall of my Mega Flush 300.
