I've been to Beehive a handful of times over the past year. It's pleasant, good music, lots of magazines. The rest of this review is specific to Brenda, since she's the only Beehive stylist I've seen. She's super friendly, always ready on time, and always does a fantastic job with my hair. Best of all, she doesn't commit either of my two salon pet peeves: incessant forced conversation and pressuring you to buy the salon products. I have never walked into a salon with an idea of what I wanted and walked out with it. This is partly because I have curly hair, and, up until this point, I believed very little could be done with it. However, Danielle was amazing. She completely changed my mind. I showed her a picture of what I wanted done to my hair, and I walked out with exactly that. Every day, I think about how happy I am with my haircut so thanks, Danielle. You are awesome! I've been going to Beehive for 2 years. I first went there because I was looking for an Aveda salon, since Aveda products work really well with my hair and the Aveda hair dye is more gentle. I first had my dark brown hair lightened to medium brown with light brown highlights...then went light brown with blonde highlights...then went totally blonde (over a 1.5 yr period). Throughout this process my stylist, Robin, took fantastic care of my hair. She always listened to what I wanted and was spot on. Not only that, but she was so careful with my hair that my hair remained healthy, not overprocessed. Robin is super friendly and easy going, which makes the experience even better :). The salon itself is bright and clean, and everyone there is very polite and friendly. Even if I have to reschedule last minute, they are very accomodating. I should note, however, that this salon is very expensive. It is worth it for quality hair care, but it is a stretch for my budget. but if you do not mind that, this is the place to go! read more

I have been coming here for 7 years after my in hair stylist downtown Seattle raised her prices to a crazy town price. Beehive is a well run salon, clean and very cool decor, the people are happy and talented, the prices are reasonable. IMO. Erika, my hair stylist is talented and sweet and does a great job time after time. Michele Kay does a great job on facial waxing, lash and brow tinting, both of which I get regularly. In the Tangletown area of Greenlake it's close to me and I don't have to deal with downtown traffic and while the parking is limited to street parking it is FREE. Arrive a few minutes early for parking especially during the sunny months as it's near the lake. A small price to pay for great service, great people and being a happy customer. read more

Um, LOVED IT!!! I had Robin this morning, and she was super personable and very informed about what to do with my hair! My hair hasn't felt this soft in I don't even know how long, and the cut was even better than I was hoping. I was super nervous to go in, as I usually cut my own hair and am very particular about it, but Robin did an excellent job. PLUS they start you off with a scalp massage... HEAVEN!!! Can I just say I would come here even if I was bankrupt and living on the street? Kirby is my favorite person who has EVER touched my hair in my life. I love to go see her, and she remembers a lot of details about my life. I know this is what hair dressers usually do, but inside she makes me feel like she is generally interested in the co worker I currently have a crush on. I started going to Beehive in 2006, and haven't stopped. I have only gone here for foils/ getting my hair dyed. I recently started going to get blow outs, and hair cuts once I started seeing Kirby. Every person who has done my hair there has been phenomenal, though. I have never had a bad experience, or gone home with something I didn't like. The atmosphere is extremely cute, and relaxing. The salon is filled with typical female chatter, and they actually play music I'm really into. None of that DJ-techno junk you hear and Gene Juarez. I'm talking some good indie/folky/punky/alternative mixes. Plus I LOVE how they only use Aveda products, and dyes. It also doesn't hurt that they are also across the street from Zoka Coffee =) Probably one of my favorite places in Seattle. read more

I get waxes from Michelle and I absolutely love going to my appointments with her. She does great work and is very kind/genuine. Very relaxing atmosphere and high quality wax/oil that works well with my sensitive skin. Incredibly poor customer service. My friend gets cuts here and recommended Katie, who was not taking new clients. They recommended Laura and scheduled me an appointment, but did not tell me it was going to be at the tangletown location instead of the West Seattle location, where Katie is located on saturdays. When I arrived at 9 am on a Saturday for my haircut in West Seattle, the manager Annie, said she could understand my frustration, but did not once apologize. Over the next two weeks, she could only offer 2 appointment spots on a weekend or after 4pm, and both were with different stylists than the ones I was hoping to work with. That was it. When I told her those options were extremely limited, she told me there was nothing else she could do and sent me out the door so she could get to the next customer. I really appreciate when managers acknowledge joint responsibility for a mistake and work to make accommodations, recognizing that the customer is also adjusting expectations. I've been going to the Beehive for years, but now the calibur of service has declined so much that i'm moving on. After my old stylist moved out of the area, I tried someone else. They were fine, but didn't have that "wow" factor and thus seemed a little overpriced. I then tried one of the less expensive stylists and got the worst haircut of my life. Jaley (i'm not sure how she spells her name) spent all of 15 minutes cutting my hair and it was uneven. I would have been better off going to the barbershop and would have saved $20. It's unfortunate that such a cute place can't deliver the way they used to. read more

I went to see Faith at the Beehive after a bad haircut elsewhere, and she fixed it BEAUTIFULLY. I came in with a chunky, short haircut and left with a soft, beautiful short 'do. As someone who was very scared to go to see a stylist, Faith was very respectful of my need for a low-maintenance haircut. She makes easy conversation, and I love the low-key, casual atmosphere. Sadly, I have moved to California and have to find someone new...but I'll be back to see Faith during my next trip to Seattle! And the $30 I was charged seemed like nothing for the massage, wine, and wonderful cut. read more

For anyone interested in waxing! While I have always heard excellent things about Beehive, I must say I had quite the opposite experience. I worked with their waxer recently and am still paying the consequences for straying from my regular lady. The room was relaxing and cozy, but the lighting was all wrong for such detail oriented tasks. I would love to say otherwise, as the location of this salon is perfect for me, but I will not be going back. Try Baba Louise, they are excellent! read more

I love this place! It's the first hip salon that I (at 48 years old) don't feel like I am out of place in. While some of the talent sport spike hair and tatoos, others are more staid and yet they are all nice, welcoming and very service oriented. Every time I go in I am offered wine, tea, water, coffee and a nice hand massage while we discuss my hair. I have never felt rushed, pushed, intimidated or anything but welcomed and pampered. The prices are most reasonable and it's nice to feel like I've had a short spa-day without also feeling like I've overtaxed my bank account. I've recommended this salon to several people and all have been thrilled. Faith is my stylist and I would HIGHLY recommend her....but I dont' want her to get too busy! :-) read more

Since I started seeing Faith for my haircuts, I have consistently received compliments on how great my hair looks, even by other stylists! Seriously, not to sound shallow, but the woman changed my life by making me look hot. The salon is cute and comfortable. The people at the front desk are always nice, they give you yummy tea and a hand and a scalp massage, and they only use Aveda products which smell delicious and are super low on the toxicity level! My favorite thing about her is that I can trust her enough to sit down and tell her nothing more than "make me look hot" and she does it every time. i always go into a haircut just knowing i'm not going to love it for like a week and feeling like i want to go home and style it myself. today i walked out of beehive with a 'do i LOVE. tisha did a great job and i love my hair - it's just what i wanted. she totally got it and she gave me some great advice for styling it on my own at home. i can't say enough good things about her. everyone else was also super nice. while i was paying, i set my refillable water bottle on the counter and forgot to grab it when i left. i was two blocks away when the gal at the front desk called to let me know it was there. i got a great cut for a reasonable price and the service was great - awesome. read more

I had a bad experience with Lisa here. I went in for damamge control after getting a really bad cut elsewhere, and Lisa just wasn't very supportive. I realize that there wasn't a whole lot she could do, but what little she did actually made it worse. I said I didn't want my layers shorter, and she said she would go through and just thin, not shorter, well I think she cut too much. It feels shorter and now it's standing up more and creating an even worse shape. It wasn't her fault my hair sucked so bad to begin with, but I just found her to be really impatient, and even snippy with me, and over all not very encouraging about the situation. Also, when I was trying to explain to her what happened, she kept interrupting me, and after having a bad cut elsewhere, I really wanted to me make sure I was being listened to. I was a few minutes late, so maybe she felt rushed, or was just having an off day. I was just dissapointed with the whole experience. This is based on one experience, and I went in with a short crap cut, so take this review with a grain of salt. Salon was nice about the whole thing, gave me a refund. read more

Ridiculously expensive. Especially for hair that I am not happy with at all! I have never had to pay more than $100 to have my hair trimmed and highlighted. I had to pay almost $200 at this salon. I didn't know that the stylists were just employees and don't actually rent their own stations like most salons, I'm guessing it's because it's Aveda. So stylists don't set their own prices. If I had known this before, I would not have made an appointment. My highlights are uneven. One side of my head is much lighter than the other. And a good portion did not go down to the roots and it looks like my hair has already grown out. I asked about 3 times to have my hair thinned out with with the proper tools to really shed it away and the stylist told me "oh I can do that with scissors". Oh course it's thick as hell. And with the heat that was the most disappointing part of the entire result. Stylist did not straighten my hair so I could actually see the cut and I am pretty sure I was charged to do this. Even though it took all of 2 minutes. I will most definitely not be going back. I plan to go to my old stylist when I visit family....3 hours away. That's how irritated I am. I already have an appointment to fix it in 3 weeks. 3 weeks of torture with this disaster mop. Additionally, no one mentioned the $20 new client discount off my obnoxiously expensive bill and I received a reminder 2 hours before my appointment....not helpful one bit. It was a mere annoyance at that point. It also smells weird in the salon. I am very sensitive to smells and it was hard to ignore and caused a headache. read more

I have been going to Beehive for many years now, after many previous years trying one hair salon or another, and never finding the right fit. In the past I've had aggressive stylists, chronically late stylists, and people whose chatter made my ears hurt. (I did have one other great haircutting experience, but it was a little too far from my neighborhood). This place is professional, comfortable, nicely-lit, (with lots of natural daylight), hip and stylish. Clients are offered something to drink immediately, and service is prompt. I've had cut and color from both Faith and Anna, and they are both great at listening to what you really want and delivering! I recommend them both highly, and, though I haven't had other services here, I can't imagine this place being less than professional in all areas. Also: though they sell the whole array of Aveda products, they don't push them at all. Enjoy! read more

First of all, don't buy more than one $75 vouchers from Yelp. My husband bought two for me for $100, thinking that I could get $150 worth of service, but when I tried to redeem them at the salon, I was told that only one voucher would be redeemable for the deal. They gave me $120 worth of service instead of the $150 I was expecting. Second, eat well, exercise, drink plenty of water, and you won't need their facial to put a glow on your face. I see no visible difference in my skin after having plopped down $150 (that too excluding tips). Well, may be minus some blackheads, but that's all, and they could be taken care of at home. I did not feel welcome at the salon. Michelle who gave me the facial had very soft, soothing hands but she was impersonal and with a bit of attitude. Although the room in which I was given the facial was comfortable and clean, it let in a lot of buzz from outside, and I did not have as relaxing a time as I had hoped for. The cashiers were also not particularly friendly or giving off the impression that they value my business. I am used to better service and my money going farther than what I received. read more
