I enjoyed coming to Beem Light Sauna and booking a 45 minute dry sauna and 15 minute red light therapy session via ClassPass! The red light therapy session is straightforward- strip down in your private room, use the blackout goggles they provide, raise the bed to your preferred height, and lay underneath the red light until the halfway timer goes off. You then flip over and allow your back to face the light. The dry sauna is also stunning- they provide an iPad for you to stream YouTube, Netflix, and screenshare onto the TV in your room. I thoroughly enjoyed how customizable the sauna itself was- from the heat intensity to the light color to the benefits of each, there's something for everyone. Once your time is up, you can grab a cup of water at their water station and head to a private restroom for a shower where all amenities are provided. The staff are very friendly with you and to each other, which I love! I hope that Beem continues to be successful in the downtown San Mateo area. Parking can be difficult, especially on weekends, but this spot is right next to two connected parking garages with plenty of options! read more

I've been here three times now and each time has felt so relaxing. After my initial sauna session, I have added on a 15 min red light therapy. The spaces are always clean and comfortable. You start out with light therapy, and they leave you a robe to wear as you move to the sauna room. The combo feels like a mental and physical reset. It's a true treat to myself!! First time trying infrared sauna and light therapy and I am obsessed. If you are struggling with sleep or feeling stressed, you should definitely check this place out. I felt instantly relaxed and the hour went by so fast. The staff here are so welcoming and friendly. The facility is super clean and you can tell they sanitize at a very high level. I love how individualized and customizable the experience is. If you book a private room, you can fully control your light therapy. They even provide an iPad you can bring into the infrared sauna and there is a TV as well. I did not even need it because I was there to fully relax with minimal noise, just playing calming music. Overall, it was a great experience. It is conveniently located in downtown San Mateo with ample parking in the garage right next to it. I've done the social sauna a couple times now, and it is a pleasant experience. Two people can sit in a private room, with a small changing area. Towels are provided, and you can also request robes. The heat is plenty sufficient, even if the thermostat takes a bit of time to adjust. You can also choose which light you would like to use. The room also comes with an iPad and tv (tv outside the sauna) to use. There are a couple things that could slightly elevate the experience. First, if the speakers in the sauna could connect to the tv (as opposed to just the tvs built in speakers) watching tv during the light therapy would be a better experience. Also, it would be nice if the rooms themselves had a small shower so as to avoid having to go to a separate room to rinse off. read more

I really enjoyed my time at Been Light Sauna! It was my first time trying infrared light sauna and red light therapy and doing it in one session was great! I love that you can get a private room with both and you start with the full body red light therapy and then move into the infrared sauna room. The entire process is so relaxing with 15 min of red light therapy followed by 40 min of sauna. The sauna isn't as hot as a traditional dry sauna but still makes you feel super relaxed after. I came here through the yelp elites. As soon as I filled out the slot time sheet I got a phone call to set up the rest of the experience. The girl on the phone was so sweet and answered the questions I had. She also, asked me some questions and recommended what services I should use when coming in. -Parking: there is street parking all over the place and there is parking Lots a few feet away. As soon as I walked in, i was greeted by staff and was hit with crisp, cool air with a hint of something that makes it also smell refreshing. It was perfect since it was a hot day. When I walked in the receptionist was very welcoming and sweet, she gave me a tour of the location and what services they had and what was the benefit of them. She went over what benefits I was looking for and her recommendations. We got started and my first experience was the red light therapy. - red light therapy: I got on a bed and put on my light blocking protective eye wear and used the remote for the bed to get as close to the lights as possible (her recommendation). There is this timer that beeps when it's time for you to flip over. It was perfect for me to remember to flip since I was getting comfy. Once you are done with the red light there is a robe you can put on so you don't have to put your clothes back on. I then got shown the sauna. -Sauna: I was told about the timer as well. Told about the colors of the light and the benefits of them and was also handed an iPad. There are speakers connected to the sauna. you can listen to music or watch a show on Netflix. You can also turn up and down the heat in the sauna. When you are done with the sauna they give you a cool peppermint hand towel to get cool. It feels so refreshing, and perfect after sweating for 45 minutes. -shower: I brought shower stuff since I wasn't sure if they had showers or if I could shower there. Turns out they have a shower. One and you have to reserve it. I didn't so I just went home to shower. But it's a good idea if you do since there is so many things to do around there since you are in downtown. -Packages: As I was leaving I was told about the pricing of the packages and the benefits of how many times to come. My schedule is a bit different every week and the sessions in the package do roll over. So that is really nice. read more

First time ever doing anything infrared and it was amazing! Didnt know what to expect. I was able to try the Red Light Therapy, but once I was in the room, they let me try all of the lights (red, green, blue). Facility was super clean. Staff was super friendly. Well knowledged about the services they offer. I was a little freaked out being in there especially when the red light comes in because that light is BRIGHT. I was able to see the veins in my eyeballs. Once I finished my therapy, I felt lighter. My lower back pain was less tense and I felt great. I would definitely try this therapy again. Parking can be a little challenging depending what time of day you go. I was able to find parking on a Monday evening half a block down around the corner. There is a small parking lot next door, but DTSM is such a vibe that walking a block or so isn't a killjoy. read more

There are so many good things to say about Beem Light Sauna. First of all, I'm really grateful to have found this place. I was actually taking classes at Flexx Burlingame and they had a booth where I was informed about the establishment opening soon in San Mateo. I was instantly sold and decided to join with a founding membership. Fast forward to a few months later to their soft launch and I finally got to try the infrared sauna with chromotherapy. Absolutely incredible experience. I came in with the intention of relaxing and letting go of tension and that's exactly how it went. I was able to change the healing light colors inside the sauna, as well as the temperature, and it was honestly the best sauna experience I've ever had. I also tried the red/blue light therapy and solo sauna combination and it was equally amazing. On top of the services offered, the staff has been absolutely lovely and wonderful to work with. Jin, Kayla, Cho, and Kyndra are some of the sweetest people I've had the pleasure of interacting with whenever I come in. Super kind, helpful, and knowledgeable - lots of shoutout to them I've attached photos of what the solo sauna with chromotherapy and the advanced red light therapy rooms look like. (They have several rooms, but I only took photos of these ones.) The establishment is really clean, pretty, and inviting overall. It's located in downtown San Mateo, so street parking is limited. I usually park in the garage which is conveniently located next to the building so it's super easy to get to. I've only had good experiences so far. I was surprised to receive a message via Instagram from the San Mateo Beem Light Sauna, but I am so happy I inquired. The complimentary session consisted of a 40 minute sauna and 15 minute red light session. They are quick to respond and very attentive to their members. I ended up buying a monthly membership after my complimentary sessions because I felt so relaxed and well attended here. There are multiple rooms with different services available. I liked the solo sauna because it gives you 45 minutes of a small room to yourself where you can set your own color in the sauna and you get a tablet to play music inside the sauna too. They also have a tv where you can watch you shows or connect to streaming apps. The only downside is that not all apps are preconnected so you have to sign in and sign out, or use the free tv steaming apps. The rooms are maintained clean and you get 2 small towels to sit on and one larger towel for your body. They also provide a small face cloth that has menthol and is cooling for after the sauna. Jen, the manager is super chill and has good vibes. He made it easy to feel comfortable and welcomed. The other staff that have helped me are all so kind and respectful. Beem also has a BIG restroom where you can also book a shower! They have complimentary toiletries like cottton swabs and a hairdryer. There is a timer that lets you know how much time you have left, and they give you 10 or 15 minutes to gather yourself afterwards. The place is failry new to the area but it is a good location. There are multiple parking structures with one next to the business and one across the street. There is also street parking, just be aware of any downtown events as that can make parking harder. read more

Beem is my new healthy addiction. I try to Come almost everyday. As I turned 40 I said I'm not letting collagen leave my body ;) red light helps put back collagen that we have lost over the years and helps reduce inflammation. I also had a dark spot and that is almost gone now. I do have chronic neck and spinal pain & Taking my own health into my own hands and doing this to help with my quality of sleep and my anxiety this helps me so much feel in control and helps me get a full 8 hours my body needs a night, also helps my joint pain which is amazing. If I feel stressed I try to go online and book. I love how clean it is, every tool smells so good. The staff are all amazing and very knowledgeable and helpful with all my needs, the cold peppermint towels chefs kiss! Jin, the manager, along with Kayla have been wonderful with answering questions and scheduling appointments, and checking in after sessions. Their equipment is top of the line with two options for red light therapy--lying down or standing on a vibrating platform that intensifies the therapy. The infrared sauna rooms are SPACIOUS, allowing you to actually stretch or lie down, and have additional color light therapy features that I've seen for the first time. They are offering a "founding member" special for $211 per month for unlimited infra red sauna use. They do not publish any other pricing details on their website. When asked they point to the agreement (fine print) that has even more sketchy terms like cancellation has to be "proper" and in-person and in writing which is exactly the loophole gyms use to exploit members and the FTC is going after this with the click to cancel provisions. read more
