    Oxtail soup $22
    Marilyn P.

Great vibe and service, and the ambience was spot on. We enjoyed the oxtail soup, and while the quality was alright, it wasn't quite a wow for us. The food felt a bit overpriced, but overall the experience was still really pleasant thanks to the atmosphere and attentive service.

    Beermosa

Decided to stop by after hearing good things and because I've been wanting to try their beermosa--definitely the highlight of the visit. Ordering was super easy and quick using the QR code to place and pay, which I appreciated. The beermosa itself was refreshing and well done, and I'd absolutely come back just for that. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite meet expectations. The "crispy" pork ended up being more hard than crunchy--so chewy that after one piece my jaw was sore. I thought maybe it was just me, but my friend agreed it was tough as well. The grilled cheese was also a bit surprising. Instead of the classic buttery, crisp bread with melty cheese inside, the cheese was grilled onto the outside and inside, which left the sandwich lacking that satisfying crunch. The fries were tasty, but for a $7 upgrade, I was hoping for a more generous portion than what arrived on the plate. On a positive note, the staff was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and checked on us a few times during our meal, which always makes a difference. Overall, I really wanted to love the food more, but it fell short this time. That said, I'd still consider coming back for another beermosa and hopefully a better kitchen day next time.

    Hall Burger

The place looked inviting and we were interested in what they had to offer. We were greeted by a server who explained that there was paper menu and a qr code to view the memu. QR Code is most current and is rhe only way to place your order. We got rhe Hall Burger and a Smash Burger. The Hall Burger was a nivel thick patty. The Smash Burger was a thin miniscule piece of meat. The Smash comes with Sautéed Mushrooms and Carmelized Onoions. I had to send it back. There was two small slivers of onion and no apparent mushrooms. Server returned to let me know there was mushroom paste, but it says sautéed. Even after sending back my meal there was little change. Slightly more cooked - not caramelized - onions and a smear more mushroom paste. Over all food quality and presentation is poor at best. Descriptions are lacking information or out right deceptive. Prices are high, yet the quality and value are not reflected in the product. Overall the experience was disappointing. Over priced menu items. I would not recommend this establishment unless you are wanting craft beer. The selection of beers are limited.

Located in Uptown part of Pearlridge where Macy's and Ross's are. A few doors down from Starbucks and Cookie Corner on Diamond head side of mall. Large, open, bright space with long wooden tables, stools with no backs, and high tables with same. A few big screen tvs mounted on walls with sports going on. Ladies, it's not just a place for beer. They also have delicious variety of cocktails and mocktails. Server was very nice and let us know to use our phones to scan the QR on table. You order from here and pay too. The server won't come to take your order. Not sure how this is handled if you have no phone. They may have menus and drinks written on chalkboard at bar or maybe request a paper menu. She brought us waters with a bottle to refill on our own, plates, cutlery and napkins. Drinks didn't take long and were deliciously concocted. We ordered chips with ahi dip- lots of dip and not enough chips but I'm sure if you asked for more they would acquiesce. Yummy and right flavor not too salty. Also onion rings which were large and plenty in the basket! You had choice of ranch dressing or brown mustard and we wanted to mix so she said no problem and brought them! Then we had to try the dessert flight which were three cute little prepared sweets of crème Brûlée, strawberry shortcake and a brownie with some type of custard on top. Yum! Place was clean, not too loud, and a restroom inside their place which was nice. All the servers were friendly, pleasant and made sure we had what we needed, clearing plates and glasses, keeping table clean. We really enjoyed powering up before power shopping so will return!

I've been here many times before and liked the food. This time my family and I were disappointed. The fish tacos tasted generic. Nothing special about it. The sauce tasted cheap. The loco moco had a burnt taste- both the gravy and the hamburger. To order, you have to use a QR system, which was a little difficult. We didn't like it. The water cups were small- child like size. The seats were uncomfortable, especially for my parents. Not a good idea to go with elderly people, just because the seating is uncomfortable or high.

My family and I enjoy going to this brewery a lot! The beers that they had rotating this time around were all up my alley: red ale, seltzers, stouts. I really liked the red ale that I had. My other all-time favorite is the Lihing Pop seltzer. The other cocktail that I also always order is the berry guri guri which is yummy! Food is pretty good but pricey, so most times I only come for the beer. Service is always so good regardless of if they are slow or busy. It is family friendly and I've seen families here despite it being a bar. I recommend this place for small gatherings with friends and family. There's ample table space and seating for everyone and I already know I will be back!

What was advertised on the menu...this was seriously a good closeup cause they got me!

Soooooo the ambiance here is great, relaxed, and the staff is just absolutely awesome here. I have one suggestion though, if you're super hungry get their loco moco or one of their burgers over what I got...3 fish tacos with garlic fries. I was stoked watching everyone else's food come out looking great, and then I got mine and it was little itty bitty fish nuggets on a corn tortilla. You order by scanning the QR code at the table, so what I saw in the picture menu was not what I was hoping for lol. It tasted good, don't get me wrong, but I'll never order fish tacos from there again. I attached a picture of what's in the menu, and what I got. I definitely got catfished on that one, but that's okay cause I was with great people in an awesome spot. The fish tacos were $18, BUT it was an up charge of $7 to make my fried garlicky!!!! Bananas!!!! Welp, now I know how to order like a pro for next time.

Came into town The staff has great hospitality. There was a guava beer I was excited to try but after a few sips it just wasn't for me so was able to swap for a different beer. Loads of food choices and you can all order from the website online which is helpful to see before closing your tab to pay.

    Li Hing Pop Seltzer
    Jill T.

Food, drink, service and atmosphere was perfect. I had the Li Hing Pop Seltzer which I will definitely be ordering again. It was light, smooth and refreshing. I ordered from the pupu menu, crispy pork. For $6 more they added a toss salad which was just perfect. Likely to be my go to order in the future.

Chips and Salsa and a Gigantic pretzel!
    Janey T.

This is the perfect spot to catch up with friends over good food and even greater drinks! With its convenient location in Pearlridge Mall, you can go shopping and stop by for a bite and a drink! Once you're seated, you can quickly order through the QR code on each table. The food and drinks come out relatively quick! I always recommend this spot when hanging out with friends! I can't wait to try their other drinks!

But our second time was a mellow Wednesday for lunch and while the timing was better (still not synced), the food was either meh or completely shameful. Yes, shameful! Wife got the Caesar salad with char siu chicken katsu. The chicken was ono but the salad was lazy. Basic greens with a low-quality bottled sauce squeezed on top. No wonder it came out five minutes before mine. I got the fish tacos with tots (extra $2), and this dish was the most egregious rip off I've ever seen in a restaurant. No wonder the server dropped it and ran. For $18, I got three street taco-sized flour tortillas, goopy mayo-laden "slaw", and pico with a teeny tiny piece of fish on top. See the pics! Smaller than my thumb. Barely two tater tots in size. And because it was plopped into mayo slaw, it was soggy on arrival. The fish was also suspiciously fishy tasting. I debated eating it. I ended up making one taco with all the fish and a potato taco with some tots before finally giving up. I know things are tough for restaurants right now. But this was ridiculous. I paid and left and called it a lesson learned. I'll likely stick to the Pucks Alley location from now on. Still some pride in what they serve there.

Unfortunately, something has changed recently and you can see it throughout recent reviews here, which tells me this is a taught practice by management and not just one shady server. Mainly, being up charged or sold "extras" without disclosing they're actually add ons. Our table of 4 had 3 different sandwiches, 2 burgers and a chicken sandwich. While ordering the server offered each of us, "would you like fries, onion rings, or salad with that?" There was no disclosure of it being additional, and she never used the words add ons or extras. When the bill was received, all 3 that received the sandwiches and "sides" were shocked to see upcharges (example $5.00 extra for 1/4 cup of greens and 2 slices of cucumber) when we were being offered these with our orders. When I asked the server about the charge, I asked why it wasn't disclosed it was extra, and that we only answered her question of which side we wanted because she offered as if it was included, her responses were baffling. The first was "There's nowhere on island that serves fries with a sandwich", to which I said, "but you didn't say it was extra, you offered them as if they were included", she said "it's written on the menu". To note: fries, onion rings, and side salads are listed on the menu, in their own section, separate from the sandwich sections. So while it is written, they know exactly what they're doing when they offer you sides or sauces, and you can see other recent reviews here making the same complaint. This left an extra bad taste for our table as we had come in to help support them after the recent tropical storm left them without power. We were excited to participate in a local event they were hosting and help support them after losing stock and days being closed from the storm, just to have this shady process of being upsold things we didn't order (on a $350+ bill that also included shirts from their merch store). Scuzzy way of thanking your community for coming in and patronizing your restaurant. Really disappointed after years of Hana Koa being my favorite place.

A Sad Decline of What Used to Be a Hawaii Kai Institution…read more It honestly saddens me to write this review because I have been coming to Kona Brewing Company in Hawaii Kai regularly for years. Kona used to be a place where the community gathered--locals would stop in for a drink, grab some food, catch up with friends, and enjoy the atmosphere. It was a thriving neighborhood restaurant and bar that felt like a true part of the Hawaii Kai community. Unfortunately, over the past couple of years, I have watched a noticeable decline in service, food, atmosphere, and management. On my recent visit, I was struck by how empty the bar was. This used to be a place that was bustling with locals and regular customers. Many of the people I used to see there regularly have simply gone elsewhere. The menu is a fraction of what it used to be, with far fewer choices and portions that seem considerably smaller. For an establishment of this size and reputation, the current menu is disappointing and doesn't offer the variety or value I remember. The service has also suffered. Some longtime bartenders seem less interested in customer satisfaction than they once were. I can't say whether that is a reflection of management, staffing issues, or declining morale, but there certainly seems to be a disconnect between the people working there and the customers they're supposed to be serving. When employees don't feel supported or appreciated by management, unfortunately, the customers often feel the effects. And then there's the ambience. Kona used to have an energy--a feeling that you were walking into a neighborhood gathering place. That feeling has largely disappeared. I don't write this review because I want to see Kona fail. Quite the opposite. I remember when Kona Brewing Company was a thriving part of our community, and I would love nothing more than to see it return to that level of service, quality, and community spirit. There are still good people there, and I believe the establishment has tremendous potential. But something needs to change. Management needs to listen to the longtime customers and the employees, take a hard look at what has changed, and find a way to bring back the Kona that Hawaii Kai used to love. It's genuinely sad to watch the decline of what was once such a fine establishment and an important gathering place for our community

Unfortunately, Lokahi Brewing's food missed the mark for me. Their brews were not bad, but there are other breweries in town that I prefer over Lokahi. I tried 4 different ones, and my favorite was the FLOOR IS GUAVA. Here's all the food we got: LOKAHI NACHOS w/ BIRRIA MEAT ($23) [3/5] - Portion was decent for $23, but the chips ran stale and there was uneven distribution of cheese and toppings throughout the nachos. Literally, one side had all the cheese and toppings. The birria meat didn't really taste of the classic Mexican spices that makes birria so good, it felt more like pulled pork. It was also dry. FRIED PICKLES ($10?) [2/5] - This was SO SALTY. I didn't really taste the tang of the pickles, felt like it was squeezed out of all its juice. It was ultimately just chips with a ton of salt. I downed two cups of water trying to finish these. Ultimately, I would come back to Lokahi Brewing for their shows and a brew or two, but I'll eat at home or elsewhere first before coming.
