This is the only mechanic I 100% trust with my vehicle. Honest work, good rates and great staff.

Hope you enjoy a long read and also a thorough understanding of the pitfalls you might expect if…read moreyou bring your vehicle to this location. This is in no way a review I want to publish, nor is it anything I have ever felt was deserved in any dealings with businesses I've ever had in the past. I tried reaching out to the shop itself, as well as AAMCO headquarters, before I filed with the Attorney General. I was offered $1,100 dollars from from this shop (through AAMCO headquarters) if I would drop this matter and sign a waiver, which I respectfully declined. It's not about the money, it's that they simply refuse to admit that in this instance, they got the diagnosis wrong! For all problems, there is a cause and effect. Remove the cause, and the effect goes away. That didn't happen here. In addition to the amount I was charged by AAMCO, I ended up spending an additional $11,000 at a local RAM dealership for it to be repaired properly. It now operates flawlessly. This information I'm sharing is free for you, so accept it for what you paid for it. But at this point, I'm writing this with nothing to gain, as they refused any attempt to accept responsibility and try to make it right. With that being said, below is the complaint I filed with the Virginia Office of the Attorney general. "I took my truck to AAMCO transmission on 11/14/23 to change the fluid and filter and diagnose/repair an issue with shifting from gears 2-1. It has a hard downshift between those gears. I authorized the change of the fluid and filter as well as diagnostic work to determine the issue. Issue was ultimately determined to be the faulty valve body. Cost was estimated to be around $4,000. I authorized replacement on 11/20 to replace the valve body, TCM, and fluid and filter change. I was informed the truck was repaired and ready for pick up on 12-01-2023. Total cost for the repair was $4,341.97. Repair was warrantied for 12 months. On the way home I noticed there seemed to be no improvement. I drove the truck for approximately 100 miles the following week and determined there was indeed no improvement from the initial issue. I returned the truck on 12-07-23 and informed the shop that the issue was still present. Received a call from AAMCO on 12-11-23, stating there was a delay in getting it diagnosed, and they would reach out once a diagnosis had been made. I received a call on 12-14-23 stating that the diagnosis had been performed and it was determined that the issue seemed to be coming from the torque converter. The estimate for repair was approximately an additional $2,100. I informed the shop that the repair should be covered by them under their repair warranty, as they diagnosed the initial issue as a valve body, which constituted $3,000 of the initial repair and they said the vehicle had been fully repaired. They have declined to repair my vehicle as a warranty repair and only offered a $200 discount for follow on repairs. I declined their offer for additional charges/attempted repairs as it was already determined to be repaired and warrantied for said repair. In addition, I was never offered the opportunity to retrieve any of the non core charge parts that were removed for my inspection upon reported completion of repair". This is my experience and I doubt they will attempt to counter anything I've stated, as it is absolutely what happened. If they do, it will go something like this: "Mr B. ended up having a two part problem with his vehicle". Or, "we did extensive testing, and all signs pointed to". Any technician can get it wrong and say, "well it was this, but it's also that". Please save your hard earned money, and take your vehicle elsewhere.

If I could give this business a ZERO, I absolutely would!…read more On Tuesday, April 23rd, my check engine light came on not in the town we live in. My husband called this business because they were a recommended CarShield representative and close to where I was with my children. This has been the most HORRIFIC experience we have had with a mechanic!! He called on Friday afternoon to tell us that the warranty place wasn't approving for anything to be fixed and we would need to pay for everything out of pocket. My husband told him to go ahead and begin work on Monday. Over the weekend, my husband felt like he should call the warranty place to see why they weren't going to cover anything. The warranty company told us they hadn't made that decision because they were still waiting for an estimate and photos from the mechanic. They said if work was done without their approval then they wouldn't cover anything. My husband immediately called to leave a voice message at this business and told him to NOT do any work on the van until he sent in the needed information to the warranty company. My husband called 3 minutes after opening on Monday and talked to the business and reiterated not to fix anything until the estimate and photos were sent into warranty company and to let us know when that is done. My husband gets a text Monday afternoon saying our car was all fixed and ready to pick up. We were surprised because we hadn't heard from them to let us know they sent in needed information. We call the warranty place trying to give the shop the benefit of being busy and maybe they forgot to call only to find out they NEVER sent in the information to the warranty company!!! The warranty company stepped in and tried to get needed information because the moment we paid for it we lost all possibilities of being compensated for anything. The worst part of it all is that we are a family of SIX and my husband's car only seats FIVE, so we had to do a lot of juggling and weren't able to go places as a FAMILY because this sorry business wouldn't send in an estimate and photos to the warranty company. Essentially our vehicle was being held HOSTAGE because the shop wouldn't follow the process that he agreed to!!! I would 100% STEER CLEAR OF THIS BUSINESS!!! This business doesn't respect customers and lies to them. They have left such a bad taste in our mouth that we have scheduled an appointment with our normal mechanic to make sure the work was done correctly because of the lack of integrity displayed to us.

Took the whole vehicle to the shop to see if they could fix the problem, they determined, they wanted me to pull the transaxle back out and bring to them. Not only did I not feel like pulling the transaxle back out, I didn't trust they could fix the problem and I didn't want my vehicle sitting around another 4 months. I asked for a refund or even a partial refund so I could take it to another shop and they didn't refund any of my money. Don't expect any refunds if you aren't satisfied with their service and want to go somewhere else. Epic waste of time and money bringing my transaxle to this shop.

Their diagnostic approach was logical and uncovered several other legitimate issues. They even saved the replaced parts to show me the damage. Unfortunately, they were not able to identify the cause of the issue that originally brought me in. They were very fair in pricing the work that was completed and were honest when discussing additional options and recognizing the point of diminishing returns for further service. Many shops would have taken this as an opportunity to cash in. Although the original issue was not resolved, I will 100% give them another opportunity based on their candor, honesty, communication, and fairness.

Poor Communication and Unprofessional Customer Service:…read more I don't normally leave reviews, but I feel it's important to share my honest experience so others know what to expect. I originally spoke with someone named Chris earlier in the week about bringing in my vehicle for a diagnostic. He told me to "drop it off Wednesday," but no formal appointment was made -- no confirmation text, no email, no name taken, and nothing written down in front of me. Because of that, I assumed they were operating on a flexible drop-off basis, which is common with many repair shops. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it Wednesday due to being sick, so I dropped my car off early Thursday morning instead. Throughout the day, I called multiple times just to check whether they would be able to look at it. Each time, I was told nothing -- no update, no estimate, no clarity. I even told the front desk that if they couldn't get to it, I would gladly come pick it up so I wasn't taking up their space unnecessarily. When I finally spoke with Chris, the tone and attitude I received were extremely unprofessional. Rather than simply explaining that they were too busy to look at my vehicle, he blamed me repeatedly for them not being able to work on it -- even though no confirmed appointment was ever created, no system entry was made, and no communication was sent to me to establish a scheduled date. I acknowledged my mistake in not coming Wednesday or calling ahead, but the way the situation was handled was dismissive, rude, and lacked any basic customer service. A simple "We're booked today, we'll try for tomorrow" would have gone a long way. Instead, after leaving my car there all day with no updates, I received a message saying it was "ready for pickup" -- even though they never inspected it. The entire experience left me disappointed and feeling like my time and concerns weren't valued. I understand shops get busy and that I didn't arrive on the originally discussed day, but professionalism, communication, and courtesy should still be consistent. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I hope the shop takes this feedback seriously, because good service is as much about communication and respect as it is about repairs.

I had to jump it. So I came to this business requesting help and the older female was very short, very rude, and condescending while I explained my situation. Never asked for any information about me or my vehicle just asked that I leave it with no promise to get to it because they were " booked full" to which I could understand. But I could not do such a thing with a child at daycare and a husband at Work. I had no alternative mode of transportation to be sure that I would get my child at the end of his day or get to him in the event of an emergency. My issue is not getting service immediately. I in no way feel entitled to demand same-day service. It was the attitude of the individual that was really offputting for someone who is the face of the business when you walk in. Next, she became very frustrated with what I was explaining, and she said they would not be able to get to my vehicle until Thursday. Which I replied we will be out of town then. She then said something along the lines of I don't even know I can't help you anymore and directed me to the person sitting behind the computer who also said "I don't know either. I just got here." The business had been open for nearly an hour at that point, it was almost 9 AM. The entire interaction was discouraging and borderline demeaning. Additionally, these people don't know who I was they never asked for my name or anything and at this point, I still have not received any email back about scheduling a potential appointment for service. I went down the street to Firestone anyways, and was helped immediately but people much nicer who talked to me with empathy and respect. Something I did not receive at great bridge auto.
