My fiancée & I have come to really appreciate San Diego Restaurant Week as an opportunity to try out eateries we've never been before. Which is what brought us to Beeside Balcony in Del Mar during the 1st SDRW of 2026. We had Saturday night reservations & got into town early with some time to kill. We found nearby street parking fairly easily. The hostess was able to quickly accommodate us with a table despite our early arrival. Indoor dining space is minimal. But as an upstairs restaurant with "Balcony" literally in its name, the outdoor patio is where you want to be. Our server was a inconsistent on attentiveness & was slow to warm up, though she was quite personable later in the meal. Along with all of the al fresco charm dining on the balcony offered, there was also a curious & less desirable element of the ambiance. During our meal, someone went around shooting pics/ videos for social media. It felt distracting & intrusive. While the SDRW menu was what brought us here, we opted for the Chef's menu after looking over all the options. I ordered the Salmon Croquette/ Denver Steak/ Churros. She ordered Cioppino Soup/ Barramundi/ S'More Cake. Although the pacing of our courses from the kitchen was uneven, most of what we had was good to great to wonderful. Sharing tastes of our dishes with each other, the 1 egregious miss for me was the Cioppino Soup. The seafood in it was good. But that broth was not. Aside from that, the Salmon Croquette & the Barramundi were delicious. The Denver Steak was a revelation. I'd never heard of this cut before, so I looked it up. Truly, a bang for the buck all star. & prepared perfectly here with a fantastic chimichurri. For our desserts, my Churros were good but not anything to get particularly excited about. Now, on the other hand, that S'More Cake? Wow. insanely indulgent with an ooey-gooey center. I honestly can't think of a better way to end a meal. Overall, the ambiance, service, & food all had highs & lows. Collectively, though, the sum total of the experience was pleasant enough that I would be interested in coming back. My threshold for 4 stars is if I'd come back. So, 4 stars it is.

My friend and I came here after pilates, we decided to try this place. You will have to walk up the stairs/escalators, not sure if handicap accessible. The view was incredible, so beautiful. The burger, fries and drinks were okay. The hummus and pita blew my mind, each one tasted different and it was delicious! The pita is soft and fluffy. A great place to enjoy food and a view. Staff was friendly and checked on us multiple time, food and drinks didn't take long to come out. Will come back if near the area :)

Came here on my birthday for brunch and really enjoyed it! We sat outside and had a great view. I had an elderflower spritz which was great. We started with the meatballs and crab cake, the crab cake was definitely the winner! We split the buzzy burger and fish and frites both were great! Our server was very friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be back if we're in the area!

If you're looking for a beautiful coastal vibe with elevated flavors and great service, Beeside Balcony is it. The food was absolutely delicious. The mussels tasted fresh, with flavors that were balanced to perfection. The cocktail I ordered was very bland and flat in my opinion. The service was great. The staff were attentive without being overbearing and made great suggestions about the menu. It made the whole experience feel seamless and enjoyable. Between the atmosphere, the food, and the service, Beeside Balcony is definitely a spot I'd return to. Highly recommend if you're in the Del Mar area and want something that feels special but still relaxed.

3.75 stars... My fiancé and I visited Beeside Balcony during SDRW. Located in the heart of Del Mar, you'll want to grab parking wherever you can on a busy Saturday night. I'm sure their outdoor patio is lovely during the day with a fantastic view. A few things to note: There are a lot of stairs to enter. I'm sure there's an ADA compliant way, but it's not visible from the main entrance. Be sure to call them and ask. The restrooms are outside the restaurant. Not really a bit deal, just something to note. Now for the good, the bad, and the weird... The good.... We had 7:30pm reservations but arrived early and they were able to seat us right away. They offered more than just the usual SDRW menu and their menu. They had a 'chef's menu' which we ended up ordering from. Their outdoor patio is spacious. I loved my branzino and their s'mores cake was divine. I'm still talking about that cake days later. 5 out of 6 dishes were enjoyable...so that's pretty good. Our server, Sofia, was pleasant. The bad: As an appetizer, I ordered cioppino. While the seafood was cooked well, the broth was awful. I'm not sure what caused the off taste, but the broth is not representative of a true cioppino. It's suppose to be a stew, not a thin broth. Note to the head chef: please revisit whatever recipe you're using for this dish. Now for the weird (and this is what would make Beeside a 3.75 review but Yelp won't let me) When the servers cleared our appetizer dishes, they also took our utensils. But, when the entrees were brought out, we had to flag someone down for utensils. Our entrees sat for a few minutes, staring at us...just begging to be eaten! Now...the really weird part. There was someone roaming the patio taking photos and videos for social media. It was pretty obvious they were looking for a certain demographic, lighting, etc. We happened to be seated right next to two of these tables and overheard everything- poses, video snippets, etc. Hands down, it felt weird and intrusive. As a content creator, I understand the need to get content for social media. It's the way of the world. But it's weird, especially on a busy Saturday night. 3.75 stars.

We went to the happy hour, and the food was pretty good! The cocktails not so much. And the beer was not as cold as it should've been. All in all, the happy hour was definitely worth it. However, I do not think any of the items on it would have been worth full price. If you come, go for the beers and for the food! Their angle is that they have a real chef who owns it, and you can taste the difference, but the portions are very small and priced accordingly. Great view from the balcony. 3 to 4 stars.

Was taking a walk around the area and noticed the cute restaurant at the corner. Checked out the menu that they posted and they offered San Diego Restaurant Week Lunch and Dinner options. SDRW Lunch price is only $20 and you get 1 appetizer and 1 entree. I chose the meatball trio as my appetizer and seaside sandwich as the entree. I wish the menu had a little bit more info because I was not sure if it came with fries which apparently it did! Ended up upgrading it to truffle fries though. Food came out pretty fast and I really enjoyed the seaside sandwich. The fish had a nice crisp to it from the panko crust with little bell pepper bits and honey mustard sauce. Overall you would think it's a heavy meal but no food coma here. I did noticed that they did post the menus at the front, but when I sat down the waiter did not include the SDRW menu. Have to ask for it specifically. I did look at other tables to if they got the same experience which they did (even though it's a different server). Other than that service was good, waiter checked in often and made sure everything is good.

Thank you, Yelp, for helping me find this place. It was a really great rec! My boyfriend and I came here this past Saturday afternoon at around 12:30pm. There was a lot of seating available so we were seated immediately. The restaurant also takes reservations, and the waiter told us that it does tend to get busier during dinnertime. They have happy hour every day from 3-6pm. Their lunch and dinner menus are different. Ambience was chill and had beach vibes; diners were dressed in nice casual attire (matching the beach vibes). Our waiter, Francisco, was fantastic. He was very friendly and attentive and gave multiple detailed recs and thoughts on all parts of the menu, which were way more recs than I've ever received at another restaurant. His personal favorite was the Seaside sandwich, which naturally we ordered, along with a side of salad. It was really good! The fish was very crispy on the outside and very flaky, soft, and flavorful on the inside. The rest of the burger/sandwich was also very flavorful. It has habanero honey mustard, which is supposed to give it some kick but I didn't notice anything spiciness (I have moderate spice tolerance?). The side of house salad was a good standard salad. We also shared the crispy chicken sandwich. It was indeed very crispy, but we both thought it was too greasy and not as flavorful as the Seaside sandwich. It came with a side of French fries, which tasted great; they were also freshly fried, crispy, and seasoned with Italian herbs. Would love to come back to try their happy hour menu! Also they have a small parking garage located underneath their building. There is some street parking available. We didn't have any issues finding parking. Granted, this was Thanksgiving weekend.

This place had a really great happy hour with $1 oysters and good drinks. You also sit up high on the 2nd story allowing for an ocean view. The service was attentive and we enjoyed ourselves immensely, we will be back!

Once again, following the advice of Elite reviews for Del Mar, Beeside Balcony is in fact the place to go. Granted the view isn't absolutely fantastic but it is pretty nice being up on the 2nd floor and seeing the ocean. Our server Francisco was extremely nice and offered a few suggestions. We took him up on them. Most unique was the octopus ceviche. Having only had octopus one time in my life, had to try it. (Francisco was honest and said that wasn't something he personally likes but still very good). It was EXCELLENT. As was the Roasted Beet Salad & the Rockfish tacos. Oh yeah the Red Sangria was very good loaded with fruit.

Beeside Balcony, you are my go-to recommendation for brunch, lunch, or dinner any time my friends & family ask for a unique SD foodie spot to try! You never disappoint with your perfect ocean view location and friendly, attentive servers. My most current visit (& this review) is for brunch. Our server (Jaz?) was very sweet & patient with our questions about the menu. Although the omelette order was wrong the 1st time, she brought the correct one as soon as possible, full of apologies. Overall, I would come here again and again without ever tiring of their menu. Next time, I'm going to try their HH!

Pleasantly surprised by Beside Balcony. Definitely come with a reservation so you can get one of the best tables on the balcony! The chef's menu is such a great deal at $55. You get an appetizer, main, and dessert, and the portions are generous. Everything came out hot, beautifully plated, and full of flavor. The staff was super friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. The risotto alone is $42, so doing the fixed menu was a no-brainer. Perfect for a date night or a nice dinner with friends!

We recently went here with 8 of our team members for dinner and very much enjoyed ourselves. The balcony is great with views of the ocean and everyone's food was delicious! Super cute corner restaurant that had a nice view. Great location from where we were staying. Staff was very nice from walking up! Great service. We dined here on Valentine's Day. I was surprised and delighted to have received a beautiful single rose when I arrived. It seemed that they added more tables to the balcony for the holiday which had pros and cons. Con: we were really packed in there. We got knocked in to a few time by people simply trying to pull out their chairs and move about the patio. Pro: we got a table for a lovely dinner on a very busy date night. The food was delicious. I ordered the vegetarian tofu dish ( I'm not vegetarian) and it was so flavorful. My husband ordered the chicken and he also enjoyed his entree. I appreciated not being rushed on such a busy night, and the kindness and attentiveness from the staff. read more

We were very disappointed in the food. Sea bass was salty and the scallops had nuts and chorizo in them that was very over powering. The wine selection was poor. For what was charged, I expected a better meal. I was confused how this restaurant ended up with a 4.4 on yelp. The service was very good, but we had gas and belching that lasted all evening. This place is amazing! I made a reservation for my husband's birthday which is also our wedding anniversary and didn't expect to get a VERY personalized card form the staff. Me and my husband were so touched! Ofcourse food was super good!! Everything we had was just so delicious, The appetizer, pita trio dip, the drinks and my most favorite was Spanish Octopus, its PERFECT! Serving is huge too. This is definitely my new favorite spot planning to come back again soon read more

Came here to celebrate a birthday, made reservations for a table outside (which most of their tables are, only a few are actually inside) and unfortunately the host takes us to one of those few inside tables. Ugh! After reminding her of our request, we waited about 20 mins for an outside table to open up. Once seated, we were comfortable in our spot, had a tiny view of the ocean until it got dark. Food was fine, nothing spectacular but the best part was the dessert, their baklava ice cream cake. But they didn't acknowledge or do anything for the birthday, not even a candle! Final thoughts: the view & dessert were good, not sure if I would come here again, probably not for a special occasion. read more

This place is really awesome but I had to give it 4 stars based on my meal compared to the price. I got the seafood risotto and it was just okay. Did not justify the $42 price tag on it at all. It just didn't taste good enough to make me feel good about spending that much. My wife had the chicken, which she really enjoyed. I took a taste and it was definitely good. The service was outstanding, everyone was incredibly kind and helpful. Never had to wait for refills and the drinks were replaced as soon as we finished the first. Speaking of drinks, I had the Bitter Bee and it was really good and I highly recommend it. The restaurant is on the smaller side but was really nice and really cool. I definitely recommend coming here to give it a shot and I will be back to try something different. I may change my review once I give it a second shot. read more

Came here on a whim for dinner and so glad we did! This cute little restaurant has great service and good food. My chicken was really tasty and the potato purée was so so good! My husband ordered the seafood risotto. Although good, he felt it wasn't worth the $42 price tag. The cocktails were also very good - Prickly Lady and Bitter Bee are a must try. The wait staff was wonderful - very kind and highly attentive. We would definitely come back to try other entrees. read more

I am not sure why the images are upside down, sorry about that. Don't know what's going on with it. I can't say enough great things about Beeside. It is the best kept secret that isn't a secret. I am a Del Mar local and Beeside is my FAVORITE spot in old Del Mar. The food is really good, the flavors never disappoint. My office is close by and because of that I am a regular diner. I have done in as well as take out and the quality of both is perfect. The menu is an interesting mix of some American, some Greeg sort of and then a fusion of a tad Mediterranean. What I also love is that they have a fantastic wine selection. The menu also seems to change somewhat regularly so there are always new things to try. Also they have great specials on the meals and wines. I have heard several people complain that it is expensive, which makes no sense. Things being "expensive" means that the price does not live up to the value, but the value of Beeside completely exceeds the price. It is not a cheap spot, but it shouldn't be. The decor is nice, the ambiance is lovely, and it is in the heart of old Del Mar so it is a perfect spot for date night. They have an outside patio area as well with a decent view. Lastly, I think it goes without saying that the owner and staff are the nicest people around. Everyone is friendly, happy, and go above and beyond each time I go. Also important to note that I am writing this during covid time, but I have been going to this restaurant prior to that. Their sanitation is fantastic and I have gotten take out several times without any issues or worries. read more

Great view . The grilled oysters were ok but I would not order again. The cioppino was excellent . The service was good . Why 3 stars ? I asked for soda refills for my son and I . They actually charged me for the refills which surprised me . I should have been warned no free refills at least. read more

I had a lovely time here. Boyfriend & I were looking for a place to grub down before going on a little shopping trip around Del Mar, and just so happened to stumble upon this gem. We popped into what seemed like a quiet day around this beautiful place & we were so well taken care of. Our waitress was lovely and attentive & got everything taken care of in such a lovely and timely manner. The food? Freaking ridiculous. Started off with some oysters that were delicate and delicious, with a super unique presentation on top of a bed of salt. My boyfriend enjoyed the salmon and I had the octopus along with two addictive rose cocktails that balanced out my meal perfectly. Can't wait to visit this place again and try more food, drinks and maybe desserts too, as I was eavesdropping on the table behind us and heard them rave about the desserts! What a lovely hidden gem in Del Mar. I never noticed this lovely balcony before, but a perfect spot to have lunch. I was kindly greeted right away and ushered to a nice spot although any spot has lovely views and breezes. The views are lovely and the food is delicious. I tried their salad with chicken and the server offered a great small side of the truffle fries for me to try. She also brought out lemon aioli and a lemon remoulade to sample and both were also delightful. I would certainly return again. Friendly staff and beautiful views yes please! read more

I really enjoyed it here. Came in late March with 2 girlfriends to celebrate a birthday, beautiful views on the second floor with fresh air. We made it an experience and had maybe 2 bottles of the rose and cocktails for dessert. The service was great, she said she was moving to pursue her acting career but she knew the wine list and had great recommendations. We shared truffle fries and salmon tartar and the roasted beet salad. For our entree I had the chilean sea bass. It was cooked perfectly. I think I deleted our photos. I would definitely return. read more

We have been to Beeside many times over the years and recently went back while in town and were sadly disappointed with the food. Everything was heavily seasoned with anise, cinnamon, and even fresh thyme or sage. Don't get me wrong, I love these flavors but it overpowered EVERYTHING! Including the veggie tray I asked for to have as a side to the Bee's Board. It was almost like the chef had a liking to these flavors and figured more is more when in reality when working with these very aromatic flavors, less is more and proper accompaniment is most important. It was difficult to eat most of the dishes that were served because of this very strong overpowering of flavor. Otherwise the service was great and the views are pretty but I think they really need to go back to what has worked for the menu for so long. read more

Beautiful restaurant overlooking Del Mar Beach! The patio is very romantic & has sting lights lighting up the restaurant. Good customer service & great food! Pan Roasted Chicken: Good, a tad dry so moisten it up with their wild mushroom sauce. Pan-Seared Salmon: Amazing! Their mustard miso sauce takes the win! Came for a special Valentines day celebration and was pleasantly surprised. Friendly service, moderate prices, above average food. Vegan option for my partner was rated well and would go back for this as a nice atmospheric date spot. I had the filet which was absolutely made by the sauce that accompanied the dish. Meat quality was alright and my steak was cooked on the rarer side of my preferred medium rare which was not an issue but still throughly enjoyed the flavor from the sauce. The fries that came with the entree was a bit random but were delicious nonetheless. Finally the cocktails were about average. As a bourbon drinker I felt the options were limited and I did not care for my drink but my partner really enjoyed her floral cocktail. I was really looking forward to eating here so we made a "Valentine's" reservation for the weekend before Valentine's Day. My date night is always about drinks, dinner and ambiance, this review is about the pre-prandial. We just arrived from a day at the Del Mar horse races and we were ready for dinner and cocktails, so I'll start with their drink menu...which they call their cocktail menu. "Del Mar Derby" vodka or bourbon, house made honey lemonade, blackberry syrup. "Black's Beach" gin or tequila, grapefruit juice, lemon juice, grapefruit bitters, black salt rim. "Mango Honey House" whiskey, mango puree, lemon, honey. all drinks around $13.00 They show on their "cocktail" menu vodka, bourbon, gin, tequila and whiskey. I didn't want a real fancy drink so I just ordered a gin martini. This is where I did feel a bit sorry for the server who tried to explain they don't have a license to sell hard liquor which includes vodka, bourbon, gin, tequila and whiskey...and explained from the menu ...Cocktails are made with Sabé (a blend of spirit & sake) or Kumiho (a blend of spirit & soju).... I had no idea what she was trying to describe or explain....So I guess, no gin martini? What bothers me is that when you go to their website, they never show the drink menu, just people drinking something that looks like a fancy cocktail, not until you get there you find out no license to sell hard liquor...just beer and wine....and their other concoctions. read more

By far the best brunch in Del Mar! A few months ago we planned to have a small bridal shower at this little spot as we had heard great things! First we were welcomed by Laura who was just a beautiful ray of light who helped to make sure we were well accommodated. Our server Pedro was incredible. He was attentive and got every order correct the first time around with no errors! The food was hot and the drinks were amazing and fresh! I had the prickly lady and just couldn't get enough! I had the poutine bowl and that was equally as yummy. We sat on the balcony that has view of the strip and ocean and there was the most incredible breeze. My top favorites were the crab cakes, oysters and Seabass. The dishes I don't recommend was the pork chop which was very dry and the roasted chicken was also very dry. I'm very upset that I'm leaving this review because I had really high hopes due to the other reviews. The only reason I gave this place any stars at all is because: 1. The location and 2. The servers were phenomenal. Why didn't I give it a better review?? The food was subpar at best for the price we paid! You think you were getting an amazing dish because of the great menu, but I sent everything I got back to the kitchen. The oysters (not raw) came out lukewarm, the cauliflower had zero flavor and the salmon tartare was definitely NOT sushi grade. My daughters Cesar salad lettuce tasted like it came out of a bag and my other daughters pasta tasted like the sauce had chemicals. The people who leave 5 star reviews...really?! To add insult to injury- they charge $3.00 for each SODA refill - listen ...I know that we are dealing with inflation, but that is robbery. I will never come back here. Great ambiance. Wish they had more vegetarian options - not very vegetarian friendly. If you're the only vegetarian in your party you'll be just fine, but if there are more than one vegetarians in your party there aren't many options. LOVED the baklava ice cream cake though. read more

Established in 2016.

Beeside Balcony opened in Del Mar in 2016, originally founded by Mary Arabatzis as a Mediterranean-inspired bistro with sweeping ocean views. In 2020, Chef Christophe Cevasco, a third-generation chef with experience at renowned kitchens in Las Vegas and San Diego, purchased the restaurant and infused it with his own style, emphasizing locally sourced ingredients and global Mediterranean flavors. A hallmark of the brand is its use of honey harvested from Cevasco’s own beehives, reflected in both the cuisine and the name. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Beeside Balcony thrived by adapting quickly and engaging in community support initiatives. Building on its success, the concept expanded in 2023 with a second location in La Jolla, which added “The Hive,” a speakeasy-style cocktail bar hidden behind a discreet entrance, further cementing Beeside Balcony as a unique blend of fine dining and coastal casual.

Steak 48 absolutely lived up to that calling as my wife and I were celebrating our 10th anniversary together. I booked a reservation 2 weeks out online. Steak 48 has a strict business casual dress code. From the moment we walked in, the service was fantastic from our hostess to busboy to waiter. We were treated like VIPs which really elevated the whole experience. The interior is immaculately classic with that "old money" subtle vibe. In addition to a world-class butchery, steak 48 also has a fantastic fresh seafood bar. As with any elevated dining experience, my philosophy and recommendation is always to order a wide variety of dishes and curate them in partnership with recommendations from our waiter. This experience was no different. My wife and I ordered the house bread, roasted Brussels sprouts, and hasselback potatoes for sides and appetizers. For mains we indulged in a dry aged prime bone-on rib eye, shrimp, and each ordered a lobster tail from the fresh seafood bar. Cocktails were also ordered. We ended with a complimentary anniversary dessert. The highlights were the dry aged rib eye and the lobster tail. It was a feast worthy of a king. I will most certainly be back to steak 48 to celebrate life's next milestone with my wonderful wife. We did self-parking for our first visit but I think I will use the VIP red carpet valet service at our next visit. Sometimes it's worth indulging to reward yourself for hard work. Highly recommend steak 48!

Everyone really enjoyed their entrees. We had a huge lunch so we weren't super hungry for appetizers. Drinks weren't the best but we weren't really there to drink a lot anyway. The thing that made it memorable was the great view. We requested "outdoor" seating which I guess means indoor by the window for them. Not complaining however, since it was a little chilly at buggy and our view was great. In one shot, we could get a super closeup view of the water, the Del Mar fair, the race track and a train going through! Where else are you going to see that? All in all an enjoyable time with good friends and good food. Valet parking only it seems. I parked on the street which is basically the same or more, so valet is worth it.

The spicy tuna was delicious, the crispy wonton, mandarin orange pieces, and remaining flavors all went perfectly well together. Better than my two tacos. Our drinks were made well and it was a fun evening with the soccer game playing. We had to wait a half hour for a table, and it was worth it. The Baja fish was grilled and a little dry for my taste, but the mango salsa helped. They fry the cheese to their tortillas which was a yummy touch and these tacos were big and heavily portioned. Chicken Al Pastor taco had an amazing flavor on the meat, which was definitely seasoned well. Getting out of there took a lot of time as the restaurant was completely full, and we had to chase down our waiter to get the receipt and pay, fortunately we were not in a rush. While the overall experience was satisfactory, I must address a grave matter that cast a shadow over the proceedings: the server's disgraceful mispronunciation of the word "almond." One expects a certain level of sophistication and attention to detail in a restaurant of such repute. Alas, our server, in their misguided ignorance, consistently uttered the word "ale-mond" instead of the correct pronunciation, "ah-muhnd." The horror! It was an auditory assault that rendered the rest of the meal a cacophony of distress. Now, one might argue that a simple linguistic error should not detract from the merits of the establishment. However, I contend that such a lapse in basic knowledge reflects a lackadaisical approach to excellence, undermining the very foundation upon which culinary greatness is built. Nevertheless, let us not allow this transgression to overshadow the other facets of the experience. Beeside Balcony did exhibit some redeeming qualities. The ambiance was pleasant, if unremarkable, with a touch of rustic charm that attempted to compensate for its lack of originality. The cuisine, while not groundbreaking, did exhibit flashes of skill and artistry. Flavors were well-balanced, textures harmonious, and presentation commendable. Yet, it is the duty of a critic to hold establishments accountable for their shortcomings, regardless of their other merits. The blight of mispronunciation cannot be overlooked, for it disrupts the delicate symphony of the dining experience. It is akin to a discordant note amidst a grand orchestral performance, forever tainting the memory of an otherwise enjoyable composition. In conclusion, Beeside Balcony may satisfy the palates of the less discerning, those willing to overlook linguistic blunders for the sake of a decent meal. However, for those with an unwavering commitment to excellence, this establishment falls short of the mark. Your Vegan BFF had brunch at Beeside Balcony in Del Mar, CA for a birthday celebration with a party of nine, and had a great experience. From the moment we arrived, the hostess and staff were incredibly accommodating, ensuring our celebration got off to a great start. Even seating two of the party 20 minutes early. One of the standout features of Beeside Balcony is the FREE parking available underneath the restaurant, which is a lifesaver in an area where weekend parking can often be a challenge. The diverse menu truly had something for everyone, including those with plant-based preferences. Our table enjoyed a variety of dishes, with the fish and chips, bacon burgers, and omelettes being clear favorites. The birthday girl was particularly delighted with her choice of shrimp toast. Personally, I opted for the BeeYoutiful bowl, and it was a perfect brunch dish. It struck the perfect balance of flavors and ingredients. The restaurant's location on the 2nd story corner of 12th street and Camino Del Mar provides an excellent vantage point. If you're lucky enough to snag the right spot, you'll have a bird's eye view of all the street-level happenings. Plus, it's conveniently within walking distance of the charming shops at 15th street. I reserved rehearsal lunch in this restaurant this past Memorial Day weekend for 30 people. The outdoor patio area they had set up looked elegant with personalized menus. The service was attentive as if you were in a Michelin-star restaurant. The food....delicious! The dessert....phenomenal! What makes this place so special though is how much they care for their patrons. The weather was quite sunny that day, and unfortunately, my fiancée (soon-to-be wife that weekend!) was getting sunburned despite copious use of sunscreen. I asked Guenevere (the General Manager) if it were possible to have an indoor table for six (for the fiancée and her bridesmaids) to move to so further damage could be avoided. Guen not only quickly provided a table indoors, but also informed me that she could open up the private downstairs area just for us so everyone could still enjoy the lunch under the roof TOGETHER. I happily obliged. The thirty of us smoothly transitioned to the indoor space and continued to enjoy our food and libations for the rest of the afternoon. Guen....thank you to you and everyone at Beeside Balcony for providing the most wonderful rehearsal lunch a groom could ask for. I wish I could rate this place six stars because it truly deserves it. I ask for anyone traveling in the Del Mar area to give this place a try. IT'S WORTH IT! read more

Beeside Balcony in Del Mar offers a charming dining experience with a beautiful sunset view that sets the perfect atmosphere. The restaurant has a quaint vibe, and the service was outstanding, especially from our waitress, Naomi, who was attentive and kept our drinks flowing throughout the evening. We started with the trio of dips appetizer, featuring homemade pita, hummus, artichoke dip, and a side of veggies--everything was fresh and flavorful. For drinks, we enjoyed the lavender Bees Knees cocktail and a Pomelo Spritz, both excellent. We shared the Beeside salad, which was light and refreshing. For our main courses, we had the bolognese and pesto shrimp linguine. The pasta dishes were delicious with generous portions and perfectly balanced flavors--neither too rich nor too heavy. Reservations are required, and the restaurant was full, showing how popular it is. LOVE THIS SPOT! Had lunch there last week (for sure not my first time). Tried the the mussels and they do not disappoint! As for the lunch menu also am obsessed with the burgers, tacos and grilled cheese. Enjoyed it with a nice chilled Rose' in this hot weather. Both of the servers that were working helped each other and constantly (but not in a pestering way) made sure we were taken care of. The owner and Chef also stopped by our table which he pretty much always does with all the tables. It is easy to see why this place is doing so well in these crazy times and I am so happy that they are and that they are taking care of the community. After dark, therefore no view. November 25 and temp in the 50's. No walls, COLD! Service was slow. Food was average and expensive. 9 people some of whom have been to Greece. Expected more favor. Meatball appetiser was 3 meatballs, a small serving but expensive. Chicken was 2 small pieces of chicken. Child's pasta was a small portion but expensive. Tasted good. There are many better choices nearby. Would return on a hot summer afternoon. Never rushed. Many customers considering the temperature and time. There were open tables. Parking is on upper level. This is just a MUST GO kinda place... Every item I've ever had has come out looking like it's headed to a photo shoot. The Gyro, Burger and Mussels are so good, I've made Beeside Balcony my goTO for lunch and Brunch and especially DINNER!
