Love, love, love this place! It's my favorite spot in Rochester for nachos. The service is sometimes slow, but when they're packed to capacity, what can you expect? I've also tried their buffalo chicken sandwich & their butterfly shrimp, both of which were without a doubt some of the best in town. And their fries-- mouthwatering to say the least. Another plus is that it's locally owned. Rarely does a day go by where the owner himself isn't walking around, bussing tables & interacting with his regulars. Affordable, quick & EXCELLENT quality. On a side note: my boyfriend and I accidentally left the other day without paying our tab. Apparently two beers is enough to distract you! Haha. We called the owner immediately after realizing, and stopped by the next day to pay our dues. Everyone was kind & they laughed along with us, making the embarrassment a little less painful. I decided to try this place for the first time tonight. Don't know if I'll be back. I decided to try the country fried chicken. It came with mashed potatoes and gravy and that's it. I just felt like something was missing, like another side or some Texas toast or a dinner roll or something. The portions were also smaller than I expected. One of my favorite restaurants/bars in Rochester. Great place to sit down with the family for a good, quick, hot meal and also great place to watch a game on tv and have a few drinks. The staff is incredible - I've never had bad service - and they really take the time to make sure you have a good experience. Their broasted chicken is delicious - so crispy and juicy - and I love the fact you can have popcorn while you wait for your food. Our group of twelve adults called ahead for dinner and drinks. When we arrived, they were not very busy but we were told that we could not all sit at the same table, instead at separate tables! The appetizers at Beetles are the best in town. My favorites are the potato mountain and the super nachos. The beer selection is decent, and Beetle makes an apple pie shot that really hits the spot on a cold evening. The wait staff is courteous and efficient, and the popcorn is terrific. read more

Pleased to see Surly Furious on tap but the new burger special with blue cheese and buffalo sauce ordered rare arrived medium well done as the waitress warned me it might with steamed carrots and bits of broccoli and cauliflower. We've been here 2Xs and the food was great both times. The hamburger was large and tasty and the fried chicken was good. It was pretty crowded but we were ordering to go so it was no problem. The people were friendly and helpful in suggesting the closest video rental store. Will definitely be returning to this bar & grill. read more

One of my favorite places in Rochester. Service, bartenders, menu items and atmosphere are all pretty good. But the best part about Beetles is the consistency, speed and quality of the food. So *this* is where all the locals go to get away from the visitors! This place is somewhat of a dive, with really curious decor of rolley-chairs and wavy ceilings. It's a sports bar, but the only indication of this is the TVs. The food is standard-fare, and they also have popcorn to chomp on. read more

Pretty fun place. We went here for Christmas party and had a blast. They have a large bar and outdoor seating. Spinach artichoke dip is great along with walleye fingers. They stay open till midnight every night and is very close to set Mary's on 2nd Street. They have a great happy hour too. read more

Some serious consistency issues that have gotten worse over time. Food is generally hot, but is clearly made differently and sloppily by some cooks. Sometimes ingredients have clearly been sitting around as they are soggy and flavorless (tomatoes, lettuce and onion) This used to be the guaranteed go-to as it's very close to home; but, we're disappointed. I've been here twice, seven years apart. The food is good. I had the nachos with shredded beef and they were huge!!! Very filling. They have a good size selection of bottle beer and a smaller selection on tap. The service was great. We had Jenny as our server. She was fantastic. Friendly, polite, not over baring nor did she ignore us. They have pretty standard bar food. Good size portions. The popcorn was very good. It must be a northern thing to have popcorn to snack on. If we have to come back to the Mayo Clinic and have time, I will come back and eat. read more

I was a juror at a trial in the city of Rochester. The jury pool requested using Beetles bar and grill as the place to have food delivered from. My Blue cheese burger was literally so burnt / over cooked and dry that I had to choke down the bite I took. I threw the rest in the trash and would STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST FREQUENTING THEM unless you are so drunk and wasted that you do not expect to experience any for of normal food. The quality was VERY POOR, the taste was similar to sucking on a hockey puck and the texture was the same as if you sucked a hockey puck. This is one our family's favorite places in Rochester. We typically do lunches during the work week and with the kids on the weekends and it is always great. For a Sunday afternoon the FOOD was just as Poor and Dry as the Service was!! Waitress was not very pleasant which then showed in how poorly the food was prepared, served and tasted. You look around the restaurant and everyone working there looks like a Zombie and act that way when interacting with customers. My Son's both had kids drinks and asked for refills and all we got was heavy breaths and a extra charge for the drinks and the same attitude was received for asking for some extra BBQ sauce. No one at the table enjoyed the food, didn't finish it and was extremely displeased with her attitude. Been eating there for years and today changed my mind that I will not being going there ever again and will pass it along to all the nurses, friends and family that recommend going there after a shift or meal out to go somewhere else... I have been coming here for years, this is my first review. If you're in search of the best patty melt Rochester has to offer, this is the place. The burger is always cooked perfectly and juicy with a very good flavor. The bread is just perfect with it. For sure my #1 go to item on the menu. The wings, are also very good, I generally always order those. Honestly, I have never had a bad meal here, but my personal top picks outside of the patty melt are for sure the broasted chicken or fire pit burger. Service is always on point and attentive. The last time I was in you could tell the server paid attention to detail. I always order captain diets for a drink, which a served with lime (which I just pick those out of my drink) I didn't even have to say anything to the server, she noticed I was picking them out and started serving me drinks without lime. The burger patties are not pre-frozen packaged crap, they make them in-house and cooked to order and temp (always cooked just how I order them). I can't think of a single complaint about anything in my many years of going here. My only suggestion would be a TV upgrade for football. They do have a LOT of tv's they play games on. But in this year they are looking a bit small and dated. I understand that buying all new TVs will be pretty costly. But food, service, atmosphere, cleanliness, etc is ALWAYS on point. We where here last night for a going away party for a co-worker. TERRIBLE service. We had a group of 15-18 people called ahead....I walked in and stood for 25 mins. without anyone asking me if I needed a drink--- we where ignored!! The owner kept calling us liars saying we said we where only going to have 10 people--he would have never allowed us to come there had he known it was going more than 10 because he does not allow that many people (even though a co-worker had went to a retirement party a year ago and the place was packed30 + ppl in that group) There where multiple tables open and we tried to get another table to sit at and the owner took it away saying he needed it for his REGULARS!! UNBELIEVALBE!! That table sat empty the whole time we where there among many others!! We are paying customers and literally stood there without any service for 25 mins!!! I have never been treated like that here in Rochester and I have lived here my whole life!! I will never spend money here with such horrible service....the way the owner acted was extremely unprofessional. I am still in shock!! TERRIBLE!! read more
