Full disclosure, I'm American, of Caucasian descent, so what do I know about Chinese food? That said, I have lived in Taiwan and Japan, love dumplings and ate them regularly while there. We go into NYC on "dumpling crawls." BD's dumplings are as good as I have ever had. They also seemed to be very quality conscious. The decor was, well, Chinese, but it was clean, service superb, and the tea was organic. You can tell cheap tea if you look in the pot and see little sticks (filler) mixed with the leaves -- not here. Go. read more

A very cozy little Chinese restaurant! Eating in is wonderful with the very friendly service and beautifully painted tea pots full of yummy tea! We had an excellent Singapore Mi Fun and an order of perfectly seasoned and crispy pan fried dumplings. I will definitely be coming back and had a wonderful meal! read more

We've been here too many times to count and it has set the standard for a simple steamed pork dumpling (the Beijing dumpling). Some of the other items we've tried are typical of what you'd get at main st US Chinese restaurant, but the dumplings keep us coming back. Came here on Yelp recommendations raving about the dumplings. All warranted. We got both steamed and fried dumplings and both were top rate at modest prices. Beijing fried rice was ok but overshadowed by the dumplings and the pleasant, friendly service. read more

Great little local place. The service was great. Food was excellent and very fresh. We had the fried chicken wings, hot and sour soup, chicken dumplings and ho fun noodles. Everything was very good and even my picky eater son ate everything on his plate. The dumplings were my favorite! We would definitely come back here if we are back in the area. I went here because of reviews I read online. I was especially drawn by the dumplings. We ordered pan fried pork dumplings and chicken dumplings, pork fried rice, beef teriyaki sticks and pepper steak. Both the pork and chicken dumplings were good. Pan fried well and the meat inside was seasoned well. That was the highlight of the meal. The fried rice was dry and sticky without much other than rice and pork. I missed other vegetable ingredients like you get at other restaurants, onions, snow peas, bean sprouts, carrots, etc. The teriyaki beef was dry and lacked any sauce or glaze. Lacked flavor. The pepper steak entree had little steak, lacked seasoning and flavor. All in all a very disappointing visit to Beijing Dumpling, we will not be returning there. read more

I should have written this years ago. Simply put, the dumplings are delicious. I can't vouch for any of the other menu items, but will reiterate that the fried dumplings are wonderful - super tasty and actually light. I order anywhere from 3 to 10 DOZEN at a time and they are always perfectly cooked. That is all. read more

Hands down, the best dumplings we've ever had and at a great price....50 cents a piece come on....well worth it! Beef lo mien is very tasty with very tender beef....melted in my mouth. On a family vacation in Westerly this week. Stopped into Beijing Dumpling by chance! The restaurant we were looking to go to had a long wait and the kids were hungry... saw Beijing Dumpling reviews were good and it was close by. We were not disappointed! Being from the NYC area we have had some of the best Asian food. This restaurant is among the best. Steamed pork dumplings, wonton soup, Lo mein, Green bean chicken... nothing fancy but flavorful, great quality and delicious. We are going to make this restaurant a must visit on vacation moving forward! read more

We tried this place and was not disappointed fully. The rice was amazing! The chicken was blah not a very large portion and I think the used franks red hot for the spicy chicken. The egg rolls were ok not the worst I've had but not the best. They also forgot to make the fried dumplings I ordered and when I asked about them they didn't even offer 10% or something for forgetting and messing up my order. The dumpling were very good though, I'm just not sure $50 and a 40 min wait was worth it. My family and I will not be frequently returning. Off to find a better place. read more

This place is the absolutely the worst Chinese place. I am of Chinese decent, originally born and raised in Westerly but lives out of town, and was in town this weekend so figured I would try it out. Here is why I have this opinion: 1) I ordered 2 "Special Dishes". They did not provide rice. Where has anybody ever gone to a chinese place and not been provided rice for 2 entrees? And the guy even argues "...it is not on the menu that rice is provided..." 2) I ordered "Seafood Delight" and a "Tofu Dish". Both tasted bland, with the dish consisting mostly of lettuce. 3) The peapods (aka snow peas) were not even prepped correctly. A good restaurant snips both ends and peels, so the customer has a better chewing experience by having tender vegetable. It's similar to peeling string bean ends. Not here. No prep here.... So, the combination of bland taste, apparently lazy food prep, and not even providing rice with dishes makes this place a "DO NOT GO". This place has nothing when compared to old established chinese places in Westerly like Lucky House, Chens, and the infamous China Village. Stay away... you are better served all around going to traditional core Westerly places. P.S. Anybody can cook and fry dumplings, or boil them in broth. read more

Beijing Dumplings has the best Chinese take out in Westerly! I have been going to them since they opened and have never been disappointed! The husband & wife owner's do not speak much English but are hospitable, sweet, caring and always greet you with a smile. The Dumplings served with a wonderful sauce are fresh, handmade, delicious and are a steal at 5$ a dozen! They also carry some fantastic traditional spicy noodle dishes and the Beef Chow Fun is not to be missed! Beijing Dumpling is a treasure! read more

Dumplings are so delicious and excellent value! Sweet & sour chicken is excellent, just make sure you ask for the sweet and sour sauce to be separate from the chicken (or it makes the chicken batter soggy). Scallion pancakes are also fab! We love Beijing Dumpling! read more

Oh Dear. I really don't like to give awful reviews but I have to here. Yes, the dumplings were the best I ever had. But they cannot make up for the rest of the astonishingly disappointing experience. I had the Shrimp with Broccoli and Vegetable Fried Rice. This food was clearly leftover from someone else's meal or an order that wasn't picked up. It was gross and horrible, and not even microwaved long enough to be hot! The only reason I choked a small bit of it down was to not make my dining companion uncomfortable. Turns out his was just as bad. He had General Tso's Chicken, and the sauce was gray/brown, and he later told me he swallowed several pieces of the chicken whole because it was unchewable. Hi spring rolls were burnt to a crisp. I didn't leave a tip on my credit slip, owing to not having actual waitress service. We were served by the owner/manager, who did nothing but bring our plates to the table in between doing take-out orders. I also didn't leave a tip because the meal was so bad. She came to the table, looked at the credit slip very closely, and said, "You forgot to leave a tip." I said, well, no, I didn't. She stared at me for several seconds, then said, "Really?" I was so shocked I couldn't even say anything. As you can imagine, we couldn't get out of there fast enough. Get the dumplings as take out. Get meals elsewhere. read more

I was actually disappointed with my meal. After recently moving to the area and living right near the restaurant we had a ton of new friends and locals suggest coming to eat here. After we read the reviews we thought it had to be great. The food was bland. I ordered beef and broccoli, which had only a few pieces of beef and was mostly all broccoli. The broccoli was overcooked and had no crunch to it and there was barely any taste to the sauce. My friend ordered the sweet and spicy chicken and was very disappointed as well, they only took a few bites and said it was bland. We also ordered one order of fried pork dumplings and one order of steamed pork dumplings and they were excellent. I can see where they received their name from. The dumplings were the thing that saved this review. We may try to go back just for dumplings and try something new and just stay away from the previous options. read more

Thank you to all the reviewers who convinced me to try this place. My kids and I love dumplings but we were getting so tired Of the doughy variety that most local chinese restaurants serve. These were awesome! We also tried the green beans and chix - which was very good but a bit salty and the beef terriyaki on a stick. The beef wasn't red ... Definitely a plus! But it did lack some flavor and thus the 4 stars instead of 5. I will definitely be going back to try other dishes! read more

I hate to pan a "Mom & Pop" place; so if you love the food here don't read any further. This is for the folks that might go based on Yelp reviews; as I did. They advertise "Home style Chinese" food, if so I feel sorry for that family. The dumplings were insipid, made with pre-made won ton skins (available in any grocery store) and the filling had no flavor besides the pork. We also tried the Lo Mein, sort of a bench mark dish, either you do it right or not. Not. The Low Mein was brown, the flavor was brown,any vegetable matter in there was limp and overcooked. Judging by the quart of water I had to drink that night it was loaded with salt and MSG. The prices are very reasonable, and now I know why; they cut all the corners to conserve costs. This is Chinese food made for folks that don't like or haven't had any good Chinese food. While Westerly isn't the Mecca of Chinese food, there are several better places than this. read more

These are the best steamed dumplings we have ever had. The dough is so light and tender and the pork filling is seasoned just right. We tried the mango shrimp and chicken and were very happy with it. Very high quality shrimp, chicken, mango, and vegetables combined to make a tasty dish that was not too salty. The egg rolls were also better than most. We will be getting our Chinese take-out here from now on. read more

They are fast to prepare the food as previous reviews have indicated but the food has been extremely greasy the 2 times I tried it.

As someone else stated below, what took me so long! Dumplings are awesome! Lite, tasty, scallion pancake lite tasty not oily amazing! You have to get creative with your dipping sauce, but the basics are what I've been craving and it's been here all along! Jasmine tea and soups nice and hot! I'm a local and this is actually my first time here. I honestly have never been that fond of dumplings, but the pan fried dumplings were actually GOOD. Also, as of this writing, I believe it was 12 for $6. Another local place in Ashaway (not naming them) had their dumplings 8 for $7.50. We also got lo mein, and it was fresh, and pretty good overall. The woman (the owner?) was also nice. The inside is small and I don't remember music (which is fine!), but if you want cheap local Chinese food, you can't do better. read more

I love Beijing Dumpling! I took my daughter there for a quick lunch the other day. The prices are reasonable and the food is great! The service was nice and our waitress was very personable. I drive by this place almost daily and for whatever reason have never thought to place an order. I normally order from Asian House because they were the only ones I knew that delivered (if I'm too lazy to cook, I'm too lazy to drive). I was never a fan, but it was edible. Tonight, I discovered that Beijing Dumpling delivers so I decided to give them a try, and so far, I'm happy I did! Placing an order over the phone is a little difficult....the husband-wife team, like others have mentioned, are still working on their English. It took a few minutes to sort out my address with them, and then they still didn't get down right and had to call back to sort it out again. However, my order still arrived within the time the told me, and everything arrived as ordered. The husband was the delivery driver and was incredibly nice. I made sure to order the dumplings (and I'm sure glad I did!!...they are delicious!), the crab rangoons (not too cream cheesy, not too sweet, and plenty of crab in the filling!) and the crispy pork with broccoli (wish the pork was a little crispier but it tastes really good and the broccoli is nice and fresh). This will now be my new go-to Chinese place! read more
