This place is NOT good. 1. The vegetable spring rolls were flavorless and over cooked 2. The Thai Tea was waaaaay too sweet -disgusting if we're being 100% honest. We took 1 sip and sent it back for water. 3. Service was extremely slow 4. The girl at the register asked why we sent the tea back and got offended when I told her we didn't like it. She wanted to go back and forth with my husband and I about what was wrong with it, trying to convince us that it was "good". When I finally got fed up with her and said it was "nasty" she could've cried. This place is not at all worth the time and hassle. My recommendation: Drive another 2-3 miles to PhoStar on Pat Booker. They're faster, less expensive, food is better and the cashiers are less annoying. read more

Today was the first time eating at Beijing House. I was super reluctant because of all the bad reviews but I was craving pho so much and I didn't feel like driving far just for some. Beijing house is right down the street from my house but I haven't seen it until today. I ordered my medium well beef pho to go. The veggies noodles and rare beef came in a separate box from the broth. (I have never eaten pho this way) and I poured the broth over the super delicious beef and it cooked it to perfection. As soon as I entered the restaurant, I was immediately greeted and felt welcomed. The waiters and waitresses were very attentive to all members of my party's needs. The drinks were fairly priced, and I tried the tapioca boba drinks that they were known for. The watermelon drink was fantastic and very rejuvenating. The food did not take too long to be made, but everything tasted very fresh and authentic. The various foods had authentic Vietnamese taste being sweet, slightly acidic, and spicy. I tried to give this place another chance thinking maybe the covid had the owner cooking. I order again. I order lemon chicken and Pai tai. Egg rolls are not included with the Pai ta. Fine. total comes out to $26.00. So I'm thinking this must be the best Chinese food in San Antonio. Wrong...wrong...the lo mein was crunchy, the lemon chicken tasted like old gym socks and the Pai tai only had five strips. If this place is struggling there is a reason. Terrible and a rip off. Oh I love this place! One of my favorite things to eat is pho and I love it here!!! They have spring rolls also and they cooked meat makes it declicious. Portions are not small lol!! If you eat like a normal healthy person you usually have leftovers. I recommend this for lunch at work and my coworkers loved their meal. No complaints. This review is only for delivery and food. Not food that I will ever crave. We ordered crab Rangoon, orange chicken, & combo lo mein. The lo mein noodles were vermicelli. I'm used to lo mein having a little more substance, toothsome even. This has been in my drafts for a while now apparently. I think we ordered during the summer. We only ate a few of the rangoons and they stayed in the fridge with the rest of the leftovers. We ended up tossing everything in the trash eventually... and we almost always eat our leftovers. I was going to get take out today as I mulled over their rather confusing menu layout at the cashier counter. Then the smell of tobacco surrounded me as a lone patron stepped up to the counter. He was definitely not a happy camper. What I heard went something like this: Patron: I need to pay. I didn't get my bill. I didn't get my soup either. Cashier girl: What? Patron: You failed! I didn't get my soup. All I had was a (??) and a tea. I didn't get my soup. ** The cashier speaks to someone behind me in a different language. I couldn't stand the tobacco or the tension anymore, and stepped back about 10 feet while pretending to be engrossed with the menu. As the man left, I told the cashier I would like to eat in after all. Let's just say I wanted to see if there was any truth to that man's dissatisfaction...oh, alright, I was being nosy. My pho was okay. The portion size was a little bit on the small side. The service was meh. The cashier stays behind the counter most of the time, while two waiters served six tables of 1-4 patrons. No one came back to check on me. I surfed the net on my Crackberry for about 10 minutes after finishing my pho. No one offered to clear my table, nor did anyone slipped me the check. Perhaps it was the protocol to ask for the bill at the cashier counter? I have no idea. However, the three employees I mentioned above seemed to be busy at the busing station as I waited for someone to notice me as I stood near the cashier counter glancing at them. I didn't feel like being huffy like the other patron and ruin my own day. As I paid the bill, I was surprised to find out they charged $1.50 for sweet tea. I only drank about 40% of it since it was wayyy too sweet! Oh, as for the menu layout, it was pretty confusing like I mentioned above. The restaurant may identify themselves as a Chinese and Vietnamese establishment, but they also serve Thai and Japanese food. Talk about an identity crisis. First time tonight for our party of five adults and two kids. Small clean space at the end of a shopping center with a tiny parking area. We were seated immediately and given menus. The menu is extensive with Chinese, Japanese, Thai and pho selections and prices are reasonable. We were served soups with egg rolls first and they were good, the egg drop soup very thick and bland and the wonton soup a little bland as well. Egg rolls were meaty and crisp. Our entrees were a mixed bag, the sesame chicken and lomein very bland and tasteless, the hibachi chicken tender and flavorful; the orange chicken had spice but no flavor. Pho with flank and tendon was very rich but needed soy sauce. The kids had chicken fried rice and they seemed to enjoy it. Bubble tea comes in eight flavors and the mango and lychee were delicious. Service was young, friendly, knowledgeable and forgetful. We had to keep asking our waiter where our orders were and he seemed very distracted. Never had beef lo mein made with thin noodles. Only ever seen and enjoyed the fatter noodles. My husband did enjoy the steak quality of the beef which was the only good thing about their lo mein. I ordered pho with all the meat works. Some of their meat cuts were strangely chewy and an off brown color. It felt like i was eating some kind of beef jerky cuts. The broth was also not very refreshing. It tasted too salty from fish sauce or soy sauce. Also ordered some pork eggrolls. VERY disappointing. It tasted like frozen eggrolls packed in bulk that was just popped out of the freezer and fried. Reminded me of the cafeteria ones in grade school almost 15 years ago. Just sad. I stopped by for lunch yesterday and had a great experience despite how busy they were. My tea was always refilled and the food delicious as always. I was even pleasantly surprised when a homeless man came in and asked to use the restroom. The owner, lady who always checks me out at counter, stopped what she was doing and showed him to the restroom. She could have easily asked him to leave, after all this is a small establishment with finite resources, but she didn't and it spoke volumes.
