THIS LOCATED IS OPEN! Not sure why YELP listed it as closed. We have been long time customers at this family owned business. We always enjoy their sushi! They remember their repeat customers and are considerate and kind. Highly recommended!

The sushi is fairly delicious, with lots of variety and fairly quick service time. The staff and owner are super nice and accommodating, and have never messed up my order.

A couple of friends from work and I came here right after we left work. We had been in constant meetings today, and we barely even had a break to get coffee, so decent food was on everyone's mind. We were greeted pretty fast and then we immediately began to review the menu. There were a lot of items on the menu which I had never seen before and I wanted to keep my dinner meal simple, so I ordered the spicey California roll platter. One of my friends ordered the tuna rolls which was also appealing. They also offer other types of Chinese food as well, and I was almost tempted to get beef and broccoli. However, since everyone else ordered sushi, I did the same. The California rolls were made on the spot, as was the rest of our meals. The food and dining experience was awesome!

I came here as a party of five for lunch. Arrived little after 1130am, there was one other table at the time. We placed our order for the shrimp and vegetable tempura, and a selection of sushi rolls. The tempura order came out first, and within minutes the staff rushed us to clear the plates to make room for the sushi. The sushi didn't come out for another 20 minutes. The tempura had the light crunch. The Yami Yami Roll is essentially a "sushi bake". As for the raw fish, it was missing the slight firmness it should have when you bite into it.

Why is their sushi so big? Not complaining though. We all know you'll be spending a little bit more than you'd like when taking on a sushi restaurant, but Fortune House puts you at ease at the sheer size of their sushi. You are really getting your money's worth and I very much appreciated that. Not only that, the quality did not suffer due to the size and the owners/staff were extremely kind. The owner (head chef) even waved at the camera as I was filming my ginormous Sushi. Love this place!

A true gem out here in Burke, Virginia. I have visited this place multiple times and enjoyed myself every time. Their specialty rolls are GIANT and I made the mistake of over-ordering the first time I tried this place. Two orders will make you super full and that's a good deal. What's even more amazing than the sushi, are the owners. They remember each and every customers face and even strike up conversation with all of their patrons. I learned they have been open for 20+ years and I hope they stay open for another 20 years! :)

Alaska roll and crunchy spicy salmon roll

Honestly, i was dissapointed. Food was not terrible but from the sushi i have consumed it is at the bottom of the list and i didnt have one on the list that i wouldnt recommend. Service was below average too, owners were very nice though, i think i caught them during their break at 3:30pm.. [[HIGHLIGHT]]ambiance was fine i guess.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I probably wont go back, especially the food being overpriced with what i just ate. I had the alaska roll, spicy crunchy salmon roll, and miso soup. Let me say the salmon roll and alaska roll were fresh the meat was good, but each roll fell apart. Something tasted off to me, i couldnt tell. Meat was 100% fresh though. I enjoyed that.

Extra fish on the right side that we didnt even ask for, but no complaints here! :)

My 2 friends and I got take out from here. I saw them prepare everything on the spot. Everything tasted very fresh. The nigiri and rolls are HUGE! They also gave us extra fish! The 3 of us couldn't finish this platter. Highly recommend! I will definitely come back for more nigiri :)

I have been wanting to come to Fortune House for a while and I finally got a chance to experience it last week. The place is very quaint and the hosts and chefs are so friendly and funny! My friends and I were seated promptly based on our reservation. I ended up getting the sushi combo that came with a spicy tuna roll (as pictured), along with 10 pieces of sushi (I think this was the deluxe version). Everything was so fresh, and the portions were absolutely generous. I have been looking for a sushi place that isn't super expensive, and was also generous in the size of their rolls and nigiri, and Fortune House has nailed it on the head! I will definitely be coming back. This place is so delightful and I almost did not want to write a review because I wanted to keep the place secret so it wouldn't be too busy for my friends and I!! Honestly, I would recommend Fortune House to any sushi fan!

The bad thing about Genki Izakaya is how crowded it can be. I'm not sure I would show up without reservations again. I've been there 3 times, the first time we didn't have a reservation and the hostess seemed very hesitant to add us to the wait list. She said the waitlist was very long. We decided not to wait. The second time we also didn't have a reservation and the hostess again seemed very hesitant to add us to the wait list. This time we did wait and were quoted 1.5 hours and it actually took about an hour. Not as bad as quoted but still busy! Third time we finally had a reservation and it still took us 20 mins to get seated as they did not have a table ready for us. To be honest the restaurant itself seems too small, they probably could be twice as big. The reason is the food at Genki Izakaya is in my opinion the best of the 3 Izakayas in the area. The Yakitori is good, hot and reasonably priced although I wish they would let you customize the $20 Yakitori Platter. I tried the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Hot Stone and was surprised that they cook it for you instead of you cooking it yourself on the hot stone. The waiter overcooked 2 pieces of the Wagyu which is annoying when it is so expensive but overall it tasted great. I like their Tonkotsu Ramen, it broth tastes great and I've had ramen all over this area, in New York City, LA area, Tokyo and Kyoto. It isn't the best I've ever tasted but it is really good especially for this area. Once seated the service is good and the food comes out quickly and everything we've had has tasted great. The only problem is how crowded it can be because its so popular! Only bad thing for us is it isn't too close about a 45 min drive but worthwhile - definitely try it if you like Izakayas and Japanese food.

But wait. My go-to spot suddenly closed, leaving me in a bit of a lurch! Where do I go?! We all have our favorite Chinese restaurant, and when we can't go to that one there's a little bit of a conundrum. I take American Chinese food seriously - which really means I order the same thing 98% of the time because that's my GO TO meal. As an intellectual, that is of course General Tso's chicken. Beijing Tokyo blends north and south Asia into a rather cozy, strip mall location. One person was talking obliviously on her cell phone, while the sushi Chef took orders. Until Yelp asked me if this place was romantic, I hadn't actually thought about it that way. But it is a little romantic. The tables are close together, the light is low, even if this place was full it would be... Cozy. A Chinese restaurant that's cozy is a very short leap to romantic. You can have a conversation here. I ordered my usual and waited about 10 minutes. The GTC was excellent. It had spice and flavor, but not too spicy. The fried rice was delicious. Good portion size and a good price. Two egg rolls and the total came to $25.25. No surprises, nothing out of the ordinary. If you had told me this had come from my favorite- now sadly closed - Chinese restaurant, I would have never known the difference. And there in lies what I think makes a good Chinese restaurant: predictability. American Chinese food is a distinct cuisine with the same menus, the same waving Buddah and melamine plates. The difference is quality, and the taste of your favorite meal. I am sad that my favorite place closed, but Beijing Tokyo is my new Chinese food restaurant, and I think it's pretty darn good.

We had the spring rolls and sichuan cabbage for appetizers. The spring rolls were very light and had a delicious flavor, the cabbage was the perfect blend of spicy and sour and makes for a great palette cleanser. Both of the chickens were great, the coating wasn't thick and the sauce had a nice flavor. The lo mein noodles, oh boy you gotta try those. They're not only delicious but they don't taste greasy like some other places. And finally let's talk portion size, they give a very generous amount of food. Literally depending on how much you eat you'll make 2-3 meals out of it. Seriously don't skip this place, it's a hidden treasure.
