I do not remember which rolls these were

One of our favorite revolving AYCE sushi place in the area but it is for smaller (4 comfortably or 6 if you're squishing in) because they only have booths. If you see a dessert or item on the revolving belt, grab it because it may not come back and you're not able to order the item with your server.

This is hands down one of the best AYCE-sushi spots in the NATION! Seriously... no cap. This review a bit overdue, but it is impossible for me to not give Kanji Sushi and Hibachi its flowers after my experience there. I was in town for a business trip, along with a couple of coworkers in the last week of November 2025. After flying into town on a Sunday and checking into our hotel down the road, we were looking forward to dinner. One of the coworkers recommended Kanji as he previously lived in and was familiar with the area. We arrived at the venue around 6pm and were seated promptly. It was fairly open when we arrived, with a good rotation of patrons in and out, however it picked up quite a bit after we were seated. As briefed to us by our server (the service was great by the way), the kaiten-zushi (sushi conveyor belt) items were intended to be super light-eats. So in that regard, it is a bit underwhelming when compared to other similar concept places such as Kura. However, the money train (no pun intended) were the actual shuttles that ran along the top rails over the communal belt. There is a great selection of appetizer, sushi, rolls, and hibachi items for the AYCE menu. Compared to other AYCE venues, you will have to order your items each time the server comes around as opposed to ordering electronically from a table kiosk. Save a few items here and there, we tried almost every item on the menu and they were all spectacular. Great standard rolls with quality and flavor - all the rolls that I've had here were probably the best rolls I've had in a while. The hibachi meats were tender and on point. THEY HAVE TAKOYAKI!!! Usually when going to AYCE-sushi restaurants, the bar and expectations are set pretty low when it comes to the quality of the food due to the amount of food that needs to be churned out at speed. This is not the case with Kanji - the chefs definitely know how to create the perfect balance of speed and quality. All of which is delivered directly to your tables on the shuttles with a great turn around time after your order is submitted. If you want sashimi (the fish without the rice), there is an additional surcharge, however there is a one-time sashimi "sampler" plate that is included with your AYCE pricing. Even with the base pricing, you will get a thorough experience. Hands down recommend Kanji Sushi and Hibachi for all those in town and those visiting! I will 100% be returning to Kanji the next time I am in Springfield. You CANNOT go wrong with Kanji!

The comes out fast. Decent variety of appetizers and their steak hibachi was good. Their combo fried rice was excellent very tasty. The sushi was good but not amazing. The cost is five dollars higher than sushi ohayo but I like the atmosphere and booths better at Kanji. The service was good. My only concern the is the conveyor belt sushi not being refrigerated and getting warm. I am not sure how many times it goes around before being thrown out.

3.5 stars This is another spot that's a bit hard for me to rate. We went on a Wednesday night and were seated right away. The rolls we ordered were delicious, and were very flavorful. The incredible roll for example had giant cuts of fish in it, so they were definitely generous with their fish portions. The fish itself tasted pretty fresh. I really liked the hibachi shrimp as well. The teriyaki chicken didn't look the most appetizing but tasted pretty good. The conveyor belt didn't really have too many interesting items. It was a ton of repeats. The desserts were very lacking, I tried a couple and they were both way too sweet, and tasted the same. I think I would go back though in a larger group!

Pretty good quality for AYCE and at a great price point. The restaurant was clean, servers were friendly, and there was a pretty good variety of food options (mostly rolls though, sushi/sashimi options were pretty limited). I prefer this place over Umiya and would definitely go again.

I was craving sushi and decided to stop for lunch since I was in the area, and I'm so glad I did. This restaurant's concept is such a cool idea--I sat at the "sushi bar," where dishes came out on a rotating belt, and I absolutely loved it. Everything I tried from the belt was fresh, and the rolls I ordered separately were just as delicious. The service was quick and efficient, which made the experience even better. I would definitely come back, and next time I'll be bringing friends along to enjoy it with me.

What a fun experience, we will be back! This place does it all: hibachi, teriyaki, tempura, noodles, made to order sushi, sashimi, conveyor belt sushi and more! And it's all you can eat for a reasonable price! Our server was friendly and checked in on us regularly as we kept ordering more options that were delivered to our table I on a little train. The restaurant was clean and modern with booths and bar seating.

A decent AYCE sushi place that also serves hibachi. Your server takes your initial order and your food arrives on a robot server that runs on a track. They also have small bites on a smaller track. Food is good as well as the service and the cost is reasonably cheap. They have a small charge if you just want sashimi but you can avoid that by ordering their sashimi plate. Will definitely come again.

We love the concept of an AYCE Korean hibachi and sushi eateriy, so we paid a visit to Kanji yesterday. It was pretty good. But if I am going to pick between Kanji and Sushi Ohayo down in Lorton, I pick Sushi Ohayo. Kanji is a spacious and attractive restaurant situated in the strip mall at the corner of Old Keene Mill Road and construction torn-up Rolling Road. Entering Kanji, there were like five staffers at the front desk and we weren't sure whom to acknowledge since none of them directly acknowledged us. But we were eventually seated at a comfortable table. They only give you one menu for the table. The menu was typical Korean AYCE: hibachi, appetizers, sides, sushi and sashimi. Adult price was $31 plus $5 if you want sashimi. What is nice is that if only one person at the table wants sashimi, not everybody at the table has to go with the more expensive sashimi option. They have a well-stocked conveyor with several options including sushi rolls and yes, mousse. Above the conveyor belt is a train track with trains that bring your orders to your table. I didn't like the train so much since you have to stand up to reach over to the train to get your order because the track is so high. The kani salad and the hibachi are very good. I loved the dipping sauce that comes with the hibachi (steak, chicken, salmon or shrimp). The other items were good, with the exception of the miso soup. It was nasty with way too much seaweed flavor. I couldn't finish it. Service was good except they did forget my fried rice. I really liked my dessert. I custom built it with a cup of vanilla ice cream topped with green tea mousse I snagged from the conveyor built.

Robot Train delivering your sushi rolls

This is a wonderful AYCE experience! I originally thought i'd be similar to revolve sushi places where you have to wait for the plate to come around but it's not like that unless you would like a complimentary small side dish. A small automated train system deliveries your ordered sushi to your seat & they also have a revolving option for small little one bites. It did seem as though, those one bites would sit there for some time going around and around. For the AYCE, it was a great price for the quality of the sushi! I was very surprised how tasty the individual pieces of sushi were. & we enjoyed the special rolls. The appetizers (Kani salad and Tuna dish pictured) weren't that great so I'd recommend skipping those and going straight for the sushi pieces & the rolls! Not pictured is the hibachi- it is also just OK, I don't think I'd do that again. Great experience, great service, and yummy sushi!

Honestly it was just ok. The service gets 5 star, definitely very kind and efficient. The deco was nice. Atmosphere was loud and music was a bit high. Food really didn't impress, the tempura the oil was fried in , I could tell was old. Overall just okay, was hoping for better.

We were quickly seated, and the waitress was prompt in taking our order. I really enjoyed the concept of a revolving menu with sample items on the food belt, allowing us to try before committing to an order. This was especially helpful in preventing overordering, as there's a charge for unfinished food. However, a few of the items available on the belt hadn't been refreshed, though there were no issues with the made-to-order dishes. Once our orders were placed, we didn't have to wait long. Another highlight was the food arriving on the belt, which made for a more seamless experience, allowing for uninterrupted conversation and engagement with my friend.

This place is average at best. We visited on Sunday for lunch, and it was fairly busy. We were told there would be a 15-20 minute wait, but ended up waiting about 40 minutes before being seated. I expected more variety on the conveyor belt, but it mainly had dessert items and an occasional set of rolls or snacks. The service was disappointing--our server rushed us as we have already expressed that we needed more time, which was frustrating given that it was our first time here and we were still trying to navigate the menu. The menu itself offered a wide selection of rolls, appetizers, hibachi, and other dishes, which was a plus. While the price is reasonable, the quality didn't live up to expectations. It was just okay. The rolls, in particular, felt very one-dimensional.

Ask the Community - Kanji Sushi AYCE

When will they have a bar?

They do have a bar/alcohol. I'm not sure people really go there for the bar alone though.

Is there a timer on the tablet, and is the time limit strict, forcing staff to kick you out? Sometimes the pressure of eating within a certain time limit cause me to go through some indigestion, via rushing, so I was just curious. Thank you!

There is a 90 minute time limit, the server will tell you when it is close to time and ask for last call on orders.

Can the tables fit 7 people?

I've seen table fit 5 skinny/petite people. Not sure if they can fit 7 people around one table.

    Do they take reservations?

    No they do not

Service was friendly and completely on point. You gotta love a restaurant when the moment you've drained your ice water, your server is immediately there with a refill. Taiko has a huge menu, pretty much catering to anything you might hanker. I noticed that in addition to traditional Japanese fare, there were Chinese and Thai dishes as well. For starters we went with the shumai, miso soup and harumaki. The shumai was very good, though I'm a little less certain about the vinegary dipping sauce that came with the shumai. The miso soup was good and we liked the finely diced tofu in it. Harumaki are crispy spring rolls, and we liked these too. We also ordered an eel roll. It had been broiled and with the sauce on it was very tasty. JP's entrée was the Pork Katsu bento box. The pork katsu was excellent and so were the California rolls that came with the box. The bento box also came with miso soup and a side salad. My entrée was the Beef Udon. Very attractively presented, it had a smoky flavor and was packed with beef along with bits of asparagus and zucchini. It was pretty good. We were pleasantly surprised at the end of our meal to receive complementary scoops of a delicious vanilla ice cream. Considering the excellent service, big menu and good food, I'm going with five stars.

Eggs & Sushi is one of those hideouts and if you're not careful, might end up eating 7k calories before you leave. You'll only know this place exists if you live or work in the Lorton area where Eggs & Sushi stands firm. If not for Google Maps, you may drive on by without a thought. I stopped because their simple sign but just some quirky in a strange way caught my eye and it's in the middle of a warehouse street where you would not expect food places to be. Surprisingly, there are always little cafes in these kind of places that feed the immediate workers there. They are sometimes the hidden gems nobody will hear about unless you work in that area. This is one of them. Walking in, it feels like a small diner, yellow walls, lots of menu above the grill area displayed on multiple screens, properly lit dining area. They take orders at the end and at a kiosk as well. Window seats, couple of tables, and some bar seats also. Seems simple enough but this place is the ultimate trap for the hungry. Be careful! When you look up, you realize they have a vast menu and varied in the most fantastic way. You have your generic American style food, eggs, pancakes, french toast, sausage, sandwiches, coffee, smoothie, an all day breakfast menu. Then you keep walking around to look at the menu, you see sushi, rolls, poke bowls, ramen, some dons, etc. You might think, hmm, they might be overloaded on the menu. Wrong! They make fantastic sandwiches! Smaller not overpriced ramen but with lots of oomph flavor! These guys bring the umami and drip it like masters. The dons hit, the ramen hits, the sandwiches hit, and my all time favorite breakfast item, the elegantly simple French toast hits. They are serving hits here and only a few know about it. The Yakitori is good, hot and reasonably priced although I wish they would let you customize the $20 Yakitori Platter. I tried the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Hot Stone and was surprised that they cook it for you instead of you cooking it yourself on the hot stone. The waiter overcooked 2 pieces of the Wagyu which is annoying when it is so expensive but overall it tasted great. I like their Tonkotsu Ramen, it broth tastes great and I've had ramen all over this area, in New York City, LA area, Tokyo and Kyoto. It isn't the best I've ever tasted but it is really good especially for this area. Once seated the service is good and the food comes out quickly and everything we've had has tasted great. The only problem is how crowded it can be because its so popular! Only bad thing for us is it isn't too close about a 45 min drive but worthwhile - definitely try it if you like Izakayas and Japanese food.
