Lamb platter with pita, hummus, rice and salad.

We came in for a late lunch today. They were so welcoming and friendly! Our food was amazing! I had a lamb plate and my son had the beef. Both came with so much food! There was a camera person in the restaurant taking pictures of all their menu items. So many options! We will definitely be back the time we visit Tacoma!

We're so excited we found this place. We were sent here by a friend and could not have had a better meal. The staff were incredibly friendly, the service was quick, and the inside was nice and had a great vibe. We went for lunch and got the large "Tabliyit Beirut" platter with chicken, steak, and lamb, and multiple side dishes. Each one was excellent, cooked perfectly, and everything tested authentic and fresh. A particular highlight for me was the Batenjen Me'le - thin slices of lightly fried eggplant that basically changed my life. I don't even like eggplant and these things were amazing. The dessert was also fantastic. We tried a few I can't remember the names of, but the pistachio pastry one was my personal fave. Currently writing this while waiting at a different restaurant we decided to try in Tacoma and I'm kind of just wishing we went back here lol

I drove 130 miles round trip to Eat Authentic Lebanese Food at Tacoma's new place - Beirut Bites Here's the summary: Shawarma, Kibbeh, and Toum -- loved much that I'd come back. Lebanese cuisine holds a very special place in world cuisine, so when I first moved to Seattle from DFW, I was shocked to find none here. A lot of mediterranean places but not a single one was authentic lebanese. Years passed, we got one then a long pause. Finally, Tacoma has given us a gift: Beirut Bites, an upscale and authentic Lebanese restaurant that I couldn't resist visiting. And I'm glad I did. From the décor to the hospitality, you can tell the owners take real pride in showcasing Lebanon. It becomes even clearer once you strike up a conversation. Appetizers We started with Kibbeh (Kibi), rarity in the PNW. Or even if I found it was dry, dense, and flavorless. Not at Beirut Bites. The minced beef was moist and spiced beautifully, studded with nuts, with a thin crisp shell that gave way to flavor in every bite. Paired with tahini, it was so good. Another standout was the fried cauliflower - perfectly golden, crunchy, not greasy, and delicious dipped in tahini. I also enjoyed the Batenjen Me'le (fried eggplant) and their smooth, thick creamy Hummus, where the chickpeas and Lebanese olive oil shine. The Mutabbal Batenjen (known also as Baba Ganoush) was good too, though I personally prefer a creamier version. The house-made falafels were also good -- spiced with fresh cumin but in a very balanced fashion, crisp on the outside, moist inside. Not the best falafel I've ever had, but definitely very solid. Tabliyit Beirut Platter This generous platter easily feeds three and showcases the best of the kitchen. The shawarma here deserves a standing ovation at least from me (I know talking about shawarma is very sensitive but let me take the risk). I've been searching for the one in the PNW for years -- and I think I've found it. Both beef and chicken were tender, flavorful, balanced perfectly with pickles, toum, and flatbread with just the right crunch. Even reheated the next day, it was still excellent, the meat and the bread still were the heroes. The toum was another star, smooth as butter, garlicky but not ghostly, lifted by olive oil. Finally, a toum I can truly appreciate. The platter also included grilled tawook and lamb over fragrant yellow rice. The rice was delicious, so was the tawook, though I wished the lamb had a bit more moisture and both kebabs were slightly larger. Still, paired with toum, they tasted good. The tabbouleh was super fresh and finely chopped, another great salad dish. and yes the platter even comes with fries. Drinks & Dessert At the juice bar, the freshly squeezed juices stood out -- carrot and orange tasted like pure fruit in a glass. The mint lemonade was refreshing and cooling, perfect alongside the meal. To finish, the house-made walnut baklava had just the right touch of orange blossom water announcing Beirut, fragrant, balanced, and a sweet send-off. Final Thoughts With spacious interiors, traditional lights, Lebanese decor, and a passionate kitchen team, Beirut Bites is bringing the flavors of Beirut straight to the Pacific Northwest. Lebanon has officially arrived in the PNW once again. *Now they are serving everything Zabiha Halal. Welcome, Beirut Bites - may you go a long way. Price : upscale vibes, so the prices have reflection, but felt reasonable for the experience.

I've been meaning to make a review on this place for a hot minute. This place used to be called "Mediterranean Gyro Grill" which used to be SO GOOD! But this place took over... I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt since the waiter said today was their first day of opening... Okay... no problem. We get seated, we order, and we try to gesture to the waiters multiple times that our waters need to be filled. While waiting for the food, I scope out the atmosphere, cute fresh flowers, and cool bar set up but nothing new from what it used to be. Finally after a 15-20 minute wait they come out with the food. In the picture shown the plate looks pretty but the portions are quite small in the terms of protein... this chicken gyro plate cost $22-24 for what? For a 4 measly pieces of chicken nugget sized pieces!?!? The two others at my table were very disappointed at the lack of meat and flavor especially for the price. Our server saw our waters were empty, never checked up on us for the entirety of our meal. These two girls come in, I can't tell if they're family or girl friends they're trying to impress... and they get seated outside with MUCH faster service than anyone in the whole entire restaurant, and whole time they are not checking in with their customers, but yet indulging in conversation with the two ladies... Even overhearing the conversation with the other table near us, they ask one of the waiters for Salt and Pepper because of how unflavored the food is (which is not normal for a gyro restaurant...) and until the bill came around is when he finally got us water since I had to ask because he was finally around. We still tipped 20% giving these people grace for their first day opening. I really hate to give bad reviews but this place deserves it. So mad that we could've ate LITERALLY anywhere else and decided to come here. Not even worth driving 25 minutes to University Place for this.

We loved everything about this restaurant. The food was yummy and fresh. The service was outstanding. The decor was beautiful and very clean. We had a group of 13 retired ladies, and we all left with smiles on our faces!

Very first Authentic Lebanese food My ten year old and I thoroughly enjoyed the food He had the mixed grill and stated this is the most tender 10/10 meal. Service was friendly and patient as we tried to make decisions and asked questions. I have a friend that kind handle chile spice due to medical condition they were very accommodating when it was needed by having certain sauces on the side. We shared a number of dishes and two bottles of wine. We started with the Hummus bil Lahm ou Snobar, my favorite dish of the evening a hummus with bubbling spiced lamb. Baba Ghanouj, Bisara Munir, Arnabeet, Alhalaioun and the chicken and beef Shish Taouk. Everything was delicious. Flavorful, the proteins were cooked perfectly nice and tender. One of our friends likes meat a lot and hadn't cause he thought it was a vegetarian restaurant. We had to have the green chile sauce on the side of the asparagus dish cause of my friend but that was ok we were putting it in other items we loved it so much. Also the whipped garlic that came with the chicken and beef was a big hit! We had never had Lebanese wine and enjoyed our selections. Love that it felt like a healthier meal with the vegetables and spreads. Didn't feel stuffed after but definitely satisfied. They even comped dessert for my friends birthday which I believe was an orange rose water pudding. Welcoming warm space. Parking is fairly easy on a Tuesday night. Looking forward to visiting again

Both were very flavorful and well balanced. Love the different textures. The roasted broccoli was OK, it was on the less cooked side The entree skewers were pretty good too. Shoutout to the kind service that let me combine and do half beef and half chicken because at the point I was too full from all the appetizers I ordered but still wanted to try both. One thing I really loved about the skewer is the sauces that came on the side: one tahini, one garlic, and one tomato. Such delicious sauces! Entrees were a little pricey though. Last but not least my party enjoyed the special Lebanese wine.

I got a build-my-own saj wrap with the mushroom base saj $6, sumac chicken $7, tomato $1.5, cucumber $1.5, pickled turnip $1, and a side of hot sauce $2. The saj bread itself tasted good, but got soaked through by the juice of the chicken and became very soggy. We walked to a park 10 minutes away to eat the wraps and the wraps were bending. The ingredients are fresh but nothing particularly stood out. I didn't quite taste the mushroom on the wrap, and on top of that, I got charged $2 for the hot sauce, but never tasted it in the wrap or found it on the side. My partner got the falafel saj wrap which was overall ddcent, but he also found the saj bread quite soggy, yet the falafels were on the dry side.

The signature saj bread is cooked fresh on a hot stone and is almost like a Middle Eastern flour tortilla with the way it's super thin and satisfyingly chewy bite. The only seating options are a few large benches on the sidewalk, but there's a poster saying you're welcome to sit at the neighboring bar which opens in the late afternoon provided you purchase a drink as well. Ended up sampling 3 of their wrap options and the Zaatar Wrap was deliciously nutty and fragrant, but texturally there was so many herbs that the center ate a little dry. The Lahme Khuruf (Lamb) was my favorite by far with super juicy ground meat with some tang from the labneh, sweetness, freshness from the tomato, and texture from the pine nuts. Absolute home run on this one! The Awarma and Cheese was a close second, but personally, the flavor profile was just a little less interesting than the lamb. Tip: grab some extra napkins as the wraps can fall apart a bit at the end!

Falafel was also fresh and cone shaped, made into that shape using an interesting stamp-like tool. Price was right too--the gyro sandwich and 2 falafel to go was only just over $13! Service was slow ngl, however, the old couple running the place were sooo cute I can excuse it. They were so friendly, warm, and nice; it gave off auntie and uncle vibes. On one super rainy day, my partner and I were walking by and spontaneously decided to go up to the little window and get one lamb gyro the guy at the window, who I didn't know was the owner, looked at us weird and at first I was like ???? but after 5 min of prepping our order he calls us back to the window and hands us TWO gyros and says "you can't just get one! there are two of you! you won't feel full!" and he hands us both, one on the house I was so shocked it was so kind and unexpected of him. We ended up eating outside right under the window and 2 min later the owner walks out with a slice of bread and starts feeding the ducks outside the store. He told us that they're a couple and that they come by every year to lay eggs and they visit him every night for dinner during this time. He also told us that Cedars of Lebanon has been open for over 40 years and that it used to be so rowdy and exciting. So many people would gather around and spend time in his restaurant but now it's a lot quieter (I'm assuming this is because new, more novel places have been popping up on the Ave). I left this conversation so touched and full of love for this man, I genuinely wish him the best. His unprompted kindness towards a complete stranger and willingness to spend time chatting with us alone makes this place 5 stars for me, so many places lack this kind of passion and love that we could really use more of. this happened almost a year ago but I wanted to share my experience to highlight how wonderful of a man the owner is, hopefully we can continue to have nice things and no one abuses his kindness anyway I wanna go back and try their falafel apparently it's super good
