Been here many times and well worth the drive from University Place where we live. The menu has expanded along with the wines available. The ambiance has increased from a 6 to an 8 or 9. The food and presentation has remained a solid 10 out of 10. We enjoyed 2 appetizers, 1 salad that we shared, 2 entrees 2 deserts, 2 coffee's and 1 bottle of a very nice Southern Rhone wine for a price that was at least 1/3 less the cost of their value. Lamb shanks and duck breast in a reduced cherry sauce that was perfectly prepared, presented and served. I am very particular about duck even if you can find it on a menu. It was a 12. If you miss this dining experience you lose. This is European chefing at its finest. In Parkland no less. A 3 or 4 times a year type of fine dining place. We used to love coming here but it has changed for the worse since the original owner left. The portions are smaller and not as good. The staff is less attentive and very forgetful. Our waitress looked like she was suffering from meth mouth and was making smacking and chewing motions while waiting our table. My favorite dish is no longer on the menu, the seafood pasta. The caprese no longer has capers and the dressing tasted like bottled dressing. If you look back through older photos of the food; you can see the downward progression. Seriously wonderful! Citron is such a hidden gem here off 512 between Tacoma and Spanaway. The fusion menu is beautiful! It is full of unique flavors, classic dishes, and lovely presentation. The service was excellent, our server being kind and attentive. She was warm and was sure to check on us, but didn't overdo it. There is an excellent selection in every course - even toting es cargot, which is not easy to find in these parts. The bread with the leftover garlic butter was heaven! We enjoyed a little of everything, sharing dishes and having plenty left over to take home! The bistro ambience was wonderful and inviting, if a little cheesy (in the best way). We had heard good things about this restaurant so we decided to go on our anniversary. It's not exactly in the best part of town, but that didn't deter us. The decor inside is very eclectic and reminded my wife and I of a French bistro. The restaurant is rather small and there was only one waitress for the whole restaurant. Despite that, she was always around when we needed her. We both ordered the duck and it was prepared perfectly. We brought our own bottle of wine and gladly paid the corkage fee, which was not exorbitant. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a "European" style meal. I'd go back again just for this. Bouf bourg 4/5 the meat and veggies were really good. There was what I think was deep friend noodles. (?) with it that wasn't my favorite flavor wise. If I was ordering again I'd ask just got veggies with my beef. Very tender and flavorful!! Desert: citron crepe 10/5 this was delicious. I have a strict one bite of sugar rule. Went to Citron last night- large party of 9. I had the braised pork shoulder/Estouffade de la Porc. The flavors of the dish were wonderful. Others in the party also loved their choices- the Weinerschnitzel, special of the day which was a Halibut with a lemongrass sauce. We all commented on how good the food was and that we wanted to write a Yelp review which we don't normally do but the food warranted it! Dessert ordered was the Chocolate Mouse and their Lemon Crepes. I have an egg allergy so couldn't eat dessert but everyone else raved about how good they were. Overall the dinner was a great hit. The menu is a wonderful mix of French and German dishes. My husband is of German heritage and has a keen appreciation of the expertly prepared schnitzel with a hunter sauce on the side. Over multiple visits to Citron we have enjoyed the delicious beef bourguignon, chefs special - often fish of the day, breast of duck, seafood ragout, awe-inspiring French onion soup, and more. Food: This place is a true taste of home. The seafood for both dishes is the same seafood medley that I buy from Costco. The sauce for my dish seemed to be the same sauce for my companion's dish. The muscles were undercooked, or at least I assume so because they were not open. The puff pastry was burned on the underside, while my asparagus was frozen in the middle...yep, a true taste of home cooking. Ambiance: this place tries to be fancy. It is.. not. I mean the decor is cheap and the walls under the windows are unfinished. Honestly I wouldn't be so salty if it weren't for the fact that we were mean mugged the entire time we were there by the staff and dinners? If there is a dress code or vibe going on, it'd be pretty cool if it was mentioned on the website. It was just a casual Sunday dinner for me, so I'm unsure if I ruined the vibe for others by not wearing a dress or by bringing a well behaved child. I am a total foodie and love finding new foods to try (just take a look at my reviews), I especially love mom and pop restaurants. I don't think I've ever felt so uncomfortable and unsatisfied in a Tacoma restaurant before. Definitely will not be coming back. Also this restaurant is not kid friendly. Oh my gosh, this bistro is a hidden jewel!! We wne tonce on our four-day stay and then went again.The Japanese term "Omami" comes to mind. Each bite was a flavor sensation! The first night salmon, but the plate is so filled with amazing tasty sides... baby carrots, won bok, pumpkin, beans each flavored so distinct and creatively, The spices were used with such creativity. -- we had the seafood penne pasta -- amazing. We were a group of 6, and they were kind enough to accommodate our party. The chef came out to greet each table, which was nice. The service was slow, and items ordered were forgotten in a couple of cases. At least one of the servers was new, so we took that into account. The food was delicious! Our group had the Wiener Schnitzel, Pates Aux Crevettes Aux Aromates, Poulet Cordon Bleu, and the evening's special, a salmon. All of us enjoyed our food. Well we have been gone for several years down in the SW. We have always loved Citron and were so happy to find them still open. My wife and I came with a dear old friend for dinner. The interior is light and open and we were greeted quickly and sat down our waitress was very nice and advised us of the daily special, which was Red Snapper with Shrimp, mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. I ordered a few Erdinger beers and the ladies split a bottle of Lone Birch Rose wine. We ordered a side of bread with butter and each had a bowl of French Onion Soup. The soup was superb and very delicious. I ordered the Braised Pork Shoulder Ragout in Dijon Mustard, Rosemary and Garlic Aujus, fresh Vegetables and mashed potatoes. The ladies ordered the Red Snapper special. Christophe the owner came out of kitchen to ask if everything was ok, and checked on other guests as well. Our dinner was Fabulous. I was ooohing and awwing all thru dinner. My Pork was tender and done perfectly. The vegetables were tastefully presented and consisted of green beans, asparagus, tomatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, carrot and a gourd? They were all done to perfection and nothing overdone. The ladies raved about their seafood just as much. We had coffee before dessert and I had the Tiramisu, my wife had the Chocolate Mousse and our friend had the creme Broulle. Deserts were wonderful and were so good none of us shared. Lol. Service was excellent as always and always a pleasure coming to Citron and talking to Christophe and his lovely wife. This is our sixth time here and every visit has been wonderful. We hope to come back next year on our trip up from Arizona. Thank you Citron. PS. My cousin and I had been craving escargot, and of course, not easy to find, but we finally had the chance to come here. We each started off with an order of the escargot, and I enjoyed it. My cousin didn't like it as much as I did; she felt she had better. I got the Pates aux crevettes aux aromates (seafood pasta) and my cousin got the Estouffade de porc a la dijonnaise (braised pork shoulder ragout). My seafood pasta was good. I had asked the waiter if they had any red chili pepper flakes (I love eating my pasta with chili flakes), and he said he would go check. But he never came back to let me know. And my pasta said it came with a garden salad, which I later realized I never got that. My cousin's braised pork shoulder was pretty good too; it had good flavor and texture. read more

Amazing is all I can say. There's a reason this establishment was tried and true for my hubby's grandpa when he was alive. We last took him here when he was about 96.
