Last meal in SLC, and a memorable one at that. The fam and I wanted something well balanced, with lots of spices, and we found that and more here. The cafe is simple and the selections are diverse. But before we allowed our eyes to wander off too far, we went for the family combo ($99), which came with two appetizers, two salads, five meats, rice pilaf, and six pita. We figured that ordering this would give us a good picture of their overall cooking ability. - baba ghanouj: smoked eggplant blended with tahini sauce, garlic, salt, olive oil, and freshly squeezed lemon juice: extremely creamy and flavorful. YUM. - hummus: puréed chickpeas with sesame tahini paste and lemon juice. Same sentiment with the baba ghanouj here. - pita: extremely large and toasted well on their stone grill. All of us agreed that we'd be content with their pita + their baba ghanouj or hummus alone. And in the end, we ended up with eight pita. - falafel: ground chickpeas mixed with vegetable herbs and garlic, formed into patties, deep fried and served with tahini sauce. I could eat this as a snack all day. - fatoush salad: a traditional salad made of chopped lettuce, green onions, cucumbers, mint, parsley, and tomatoes, radish and green pepper topped with seasoned pita chips, dressed with pomegranate molasses, lemon juice, sumac, salt, and olive oil. This was stellar on its own. So much flavors going on in this salad, yet everything was well-balanced. - tabbouli salad: finely minced crushed wheat with tomatoes, green onions, and parsley dressed with fresh lemon juice and olive oil served on a bed of romaine lettuce. This was really refreshing! - beef shawarma + chicken shawarma: shredded off the rotisserie grill. Juicy, tender- UGH SO GOOD. - lamb skewers + chicken kabab skewers + kafta skewers: these were well-cooked too! - rice pilaf: so flavorful, that it is able to stand on its own. But mixed with the meats, even better. We also got baklava out of curiosity ($3.99 each). Their layers of filó pastry remained crispy despite them being topped off with honey syrup and chocolate syrup. Lastly, the workers actually gave us more than what was mentioned on the menu, which was so sweet of them! The food was enough to satiate us through dinner and for breakfast the next day. Rude and very disrespectful! Will never come back again! We used to come to this place not only because it's close to my neighborhood but we tried to support local businesses. Today, when my friend was there to pick up the food for us, the lady who were cooking the food (the owner) and the cashier were making fun of my friend. They were saying how much he is eating compare to his appearance. They forgot that they were speaking English and my friend heard everything, because he was standing right there! It was so rude and hurtful, not to mention, they later switched to their native language and continue talking to each other. My friend felt super embarrassed and hurt. No one should experience this and just to think what else do they say behind every customer's back?! I will not tolerant this kind of behavior. read more

This was my first experience with Lebanese food. For a small, what I hear is average Lebanese dishes, I was pleasantly surprised. It has similarities to Greek food, which I love. Once I let go of the fact that is WASN'T Greek, I appreciated and enjoyed the differences. The grilled shrimp and lamb kabobs were juicy and tender. I loved the simple side salad and the pita and hummus. I would recommend sharing the Tabbouleh Salad. It's so full of aeronautic herbs that it makes the perfect pallet cleanser, although since it's just parsley, scallions, and mint. It's a little much to be the entire meal. Great dish still. Found this place on Yelp a while back and had bookmarked it. After the trick-or-treaters had quit for the night we had 5 of us in our party and we ordered up a storm! Didn't see how big the portion sizes were beforehand and thought it was the typical Lebanese sized plates. We all had so many leftovers it was fun to try so many items, the owner was going around to all of the tables asking how things were? I told him that the 2 desserts were way too authentic for my taste and didn't like them. Food was made fresh and all from scratch. For sure will come back and order fewer items. read more

Many have had Greek food (and chances are they loved it) but very few have had Lebanese food: probably because the entire country is smaller than the state of Connecticut. Regardless, everyone needs to have more Lebanese food in their life. Lebanese, Turkish, and Greek foods have very subtle differences but are all fantastic. The blend of spices and freshness of herbs are wonderful. Beirut does a good job of representing their country well (from my limited sampling). The lamb is done very well and is mild in flavor. The garlic sauce served with it is a perfect pair with any meat. The hummus is smooth and everything I want it to be. read more

Excellent food, seems authentic as far as I remember from boyhood , 1963-1965. Very reasonable prices. The in-aptly named Foul Mudammas (chicken with mashed fava beans) was flavorful. The fried beef kibbeh was just as I remember our cook making in Damascus. Portions were plentiful. The dining area was clean and well kept, furnished in casual mid-20th-century style. Four men, one dressed in what I believe was an abaya (a silky, glossy, ankle-length, loose, shirt-like garment), were conversing at a table in what sounded like Arabic, adding to the Middle Eastern café atmosphere. They were quite busy, at 6 PM on a Friday evening; I don't think reservations are necessary (or even possible.) I can echo the owner's statement about Beirut being the Paris of the East. I looked forward to our monthly 2-hour drive there from Damascus to restock provisions at the US Embassy commissary. "Shukran!" ("thank you" in Arabic - unfortunately, about all I remember) to the proprietor and staff. It'll take several visits to sample everything! read more

Foods that I have tried here: - Chicken shawarma sandwich. Traditional (which I love) and very flavorful. - The hummus plate topped with beef shawarma. Traditional and really really tasty especially with their freshly baked pita bread (khebez). - Fried kibbeh balls with side of yogurt. FINALLY an authentic Lebanese restaurant!!!!! If you are t sure what to get just get the mixed grill platter, comes with chicken, lamb and kofta. My favorite was their very flavorful kofta kebab, with some garlic sauce. All the meats came out juicy, perfectly looked and seasoned but I think I'm hooked on their kofta. The hummus isn't like your typical hummus, there's a flavor depth that's just hard to point out what it is but on point! Don't get Greek and Lebanese confused however they do have your typical gyro and Greek salad but this is Lebanese food and done right! Inside is a bit interesting it's half ice cream and half Beirut Cafe on the right with ol ice cream parlor seating. But hey you can get an amazing dinner reasonably priced and dessert too if you're up for it!! Only thing that I would change is that I wish they wouldn't put the other half of the pita on the bottom of the meats because they get soggy and would rather them just have it on the side, I suppose I will ask for it that way. read more

When you enter this establishment the first thing you will notice is how clean and organized the dining and service spaces are. Today I ordered the veggie combo. It was delicious. All of the ingredients -- the Tabbouli salad, the hummus, the falafel patties, the grape leaves, the Babaq Ghanouj, the spices -- were fresh. A pretty weird little Lebanese cafe combined with an ice cream shop in a little gas station strip mall lot by Cottonwood High. I haven't tried the ice cream but the food is quite good and pretty cheap. It is counter service and you take an order number, the food has generally been out pretty quick. Besides the usual fare of shawarma, kebabs, falafel and such they also sell a lot of pies, which is a bit misleading as these are more like pita pizzas instead of something like Fried Kibbeh like I was picturing (tho they have these too I just haven't tried). I have tried the Spinach & Cheese Pie and veggie pie. Both were very good, tho I think I like the spinach and cheese a bit more. I have also tried the Falafel Sandwich (their sandwiches are wraps) and escalope sandwich. The falafel here was very flavorful and I enjoyed the pickles in the sandwich that added a nice crunch. I'm mixed on this one. Very cute place, clean and food smelled delicious. Ordering was easy, great photos of dishes are very helpful. My first time having shawarma, so I'm not sure what its supposed to bee like. I ordered the beef shawarma sandwich and husband got the lamb kebab sandwich. The meat in mine was very dry, the flavor was good (not excellent, but Good) but I wish I had some kind of sauce to add some moisture. The pita was grilled, but also dry so that compounded the problem for me. The first half was heavy on the raw onions, and the bottom half heavy on the hummus... if it had been balanced it would have been tastier. With the grilled pita I couldn't rearrange it. Not sure if I just don't know what it's supposed to taste like, but I was a bit disappointed. My husband's lamb was juicy land flavorful. His peppers and other ingredients were yummy. If we ever go back, I'm certainly ordering that. The desserts looked wonderful as well. The other thing that was odd is they gave us a number for the table, and they brought food to the other tables (seemed like they were regulars, chatting a moment with them)... but when our food was up the girl flagged me from behind the counter and pointed at our plates gesturing for me to to come pick them up. It could use more lettuce but it's the best Greek salad I've ever had, It's bursting with flavor. I spent around $20.00 on this phenomenal salad with a side of hummus. We love medditeranean food, had heard from some friends it was delicious, and therfore put it on the list. The restaurant is connected to a gas station and Farr ice cream. I cannot speak to the gas station, but the owner said they run the Farr ice cream as well. I felt the inside was rather cute and inviting. They had arrangements on the tables. We considered eating outside, but there was food on the floor, and all the chairs had been pulled to one of the larger tables where a small family was sitting. My husband used the facilities while we were there and said he didn't realize it was the same as the gas station Restroom. He described it as a clean gas station restroom. While we waited to order, the lady in front of us, who clearly had a language barrier, was asking for something she didn't order. The owner was less than pleased. He resolved the issue but was clearly unhappy and was still upset when he helped us. I understood, but it was still slightly off-putting. Their menu is quite extensive, and they have pictures of many of the items that are appreciated, but we were trying to try a few different items. We landed on a side of falafel, an order of kibbeh (1pc), a lamb skewer, and a chicken & gyro combo plate. We loved the falafel. Having made kibbeh before, I didn't mind the price because I know the work that goes into making them. However, I felt the kibbeh was more bulgur than beef on the outside but good flavor. The lamb skewer came with four pieces. Two were juicy and delicious and two dry...we thought this was weird, but liking back at the pictures, it may be because of the irregular size and shape of the cuts. Overall, I enjoyed the lamb quite a bit. The chicken was dry and a bit of a letdown, but the gyro, hummus and the garlic sauce were yummy. I agree with another yelper who said the pickle didn't go; we didn't eat it and if it had been in the wrap it would've changed the overall flavor profile they established with the rest of the ingredients. It should be on the side as it was on our combo plate. The rice was beautiful and plentiful but a bit bland. The Naan was fluffy and warm and went well with the gyro. The gyro was very good. Although my husband liked it, I was not a fan of the Tzatziki sauce, I like mine with shredded cucumber it makes it creamier. The hummus was spot on. It was creamy with season sprinkled on top and real olive oil; delicious and classic! Another yelper mentioned the garlic sauce was way too garlicky, so I was timid in eating it. This is what I found. My first bite was pretty mild. The more we mixed the sauce, the stronger it became. That said, it was not so strong that it lingered all day. We found it to be a wonderful, fluffy yet creamy texture with just the right amount of garlic. The owner walked around while we were eating and asked how we liked everything. (A plus for customer service. I bumped up the service rating because of this intentional interaction.) We complimented him on the falafels. He told us they had a man from Lebanon come out about a year ago to teach them. (Maybe this is why the garlic sauce was milder.) Bottom line, we would come back. Give them a try and get the falafel, try the kibbeh (it is a unique authentic item not readily found), and get a gyro with no pickles. read more

Wow! So impressed! I love Lebanese food and this is the real thing! Hubby and I both reordered the chicken Shwarma with Basmati and pita....AMAZING!!! The chucken was beautifully seasoned and tender. The garlic sauce? My mouth is still watering! We also ordered a meat pie. It's an appetizer for $3.49 and turned out that it's a meal in itself. Spotless and spacious inside with cute seating arrangement. The lady at the register was extremely friendly and smiley as she patiently waited for me to make my choices. I opted for the meat pie and a chicken shawarma wrap to go. Everything was made to order and came to the counter piping hot with another smile. On my way back to the office I got a construction area where I was stopped for about 5 minutes, so of course I busted out the meat pie. It's subtle and savory and probably going to now figure heavily into my lunch rotation. The only thing missing is something green to put on top - some parsley or mint leaves maybe (I love those both on lahmacun.) When I settled down to eat my chicken wrap, I was pleasantly surprised by the super garlicky flavor (note: it is not too garlicky for me, but if you don't want death breath, you might want to skip this one). Very impressive! Ventured in this evening because Mediterranean food is not easily found in Park City and we were desiring good falafel and hummus. Thank goodness, and this was goodness, it was worth the trip! Best falafel in Utah! Perfectly cooked, and seasoned with sesame seeds. The hummus was by far the closest to the hummus found in Israel: smooth, creamy, and tasty with a dollup of real olive oil. The only way I know of to get hummus this smooth is to remove the outside of the chickpeas. ) The stuffed grape leaves, while skinny and not super stuffed, were obviously handmade, and delish. This little restaurant next to a gas station, with a name I can't pronounce shared with Farr's ice cream definitely had my curiosity peaked. The food was delicious and the portions are large. Their prices are also reasonable, and everyone here is always friendly and so happy to see you. They make the best garlic labneh I've ever had, and you cant go wrong with any of their meat skewers (especially the kofta). And the fatoosh salad is fantastic. Those are just my favorite dishes but everything I have eaten there is top notch. One of my favorite places in all of SLC. Lebanese food to go out for dinner in. Customers were appropriately distanced and like usual, the cafe was spotless clean and well lit. Customer service here always has smiles and will answer any questions you have about the food as some of the offerings may be new to some diners. Your table will be cleared when you leave so no need to wander around looking for a trash can. Lentil soup served first and it was hot (temperature). I used this to dip flatbread and found it a great flavor combination. The bowl contained a larger portion than I thought when ordering so I'm taking the home. I feel it's better served for two or three people. The lamb shish kebab contained five large chunks of meat on a skewer separated by occasional pepper and onion (I wish they were between every piece of meat). The lamb was cooked evenly and perfectly and was delicious. My wife's chicken kebab was the same way. It came with long grain light rice and a smattering of pickles, tomatoes and onions. Kebab dishes give you two kebabs, plenty to fill the tummy but not overly so. The hummus was generously decorated with a spiral of olive oil and contained loads of oil and spices on the inside. Served chilled for a great contrast with the warm flatbread that accompanied it. I ended up putting hummus and lentil soup inside the flatbread both for ease of eating as well as a unique blended flavor. I've eaten here three times and really enjoy a) the flavors, b) the consistency of preparation and taste, and c) talking to the staff to educate myself on Lebanese food -- and for those reasons I award 4 stars. When weather is warmer it's a treat to sit outside on the patio. The Farr's Ice Cream shop inside seems an odd pairing and I've never seen anyone over there or buying ice cream. read more
