I had lunch with friends there. I tried the special which was pot roast with 2 sides. I had the hand cut fries and a salad and blue cheese dressing. The salad was an up charge. Everything was delicious. The fries are my favorite as well as the salad with the blue cheese dressing. Nothing fancy, but the meatloaf tasted homemade (& didn't have salsa on it like another review said... maybe they corrected that) Fries okra was golden brown & CRISPY & when served. ;) Fries are thin & not crispy, but they taste good. We enjoyed a carry out order from this restaurant recently. My husband ordered the Asian Chicken Salad and I got the Country Style Steak with pepper gravy, a baked sweet potato and corn. Hubby raved about his salad, and said he would definitely order it again. He said the honey mustard dressing, which they are famous for, put the salad over the top. My breaded ground steak was average fare. The breading lacked seasoning but the pepper gravy made up for it. The sweet potato was cooked so perfectly that it slipped right out of the skin. It came with brown sugar and butter. Without a doubt the best thing I ate was the corn. It tasted like fresh corn straight off the cob. It was buttery and sweet and I wish I had a big bowl of it right now. We'll be going back. read more

I live about a half mile from Bel Air. After the original owners sold the business many years ago, 2 - 3 other people have attempted to reopen but the restaurant itself kept going downhill. The food was horrible, staff unfriendly, the place became very dirty and smelled terrible. Business went downhill and people basically stoped eating there. This year, one of the brothers who own and run Austins Buffett (on Merchant's Road) bought the Bel Air and are working very hard to turn it back around and are doing a remarkable job of doing so. Chad and Nate have a wonderful staff of service and kitchen people. The food is wonderful, staff very friendly, and the place has been cleaned up. They are still working on it and bringing back the nostalgia of the Bel Air Grill. They say they still have a way to go in restoring the restaurant but they are right on track. We have eaten there several times and each time the food has been amazing. Fried mushrooms - wonderful, steaks -wonderful, burgers - amazing and the Super salad... you better be very hungry if you order it. Every restaurant has off days but if you go and have a bad meal, ask for Nate or Chad, explain the situation and they do listen and take care of you. They are also open to suggestions. They don't just walk off like nothing happened. Give Bel Air a couple of visits, order different dishes. BTW the Banana splits and shakes - Ooohhh YES!!! We got A bowl of potato soup and grilled chicken with rice and broccoli it was all really good . I was hungry looking for a quick and tasty meal, I arrived the host was on their phone with the feet up. I pushed that aside and order a Chicken Pasta, about 10 minutes later it came out and it was completely wrong so I sent it back and ordered a Philly Cheese Steak, I love a good Cheese Steak and this by far was one of the worst I've ever seen and tasted. Their food was really good but I'm not too impressed with the rest of our visit me and my girlfriend had to wait almost 20 minutes for a table when the restaurant was almost empty and then when we got to our table it took our food almost an hour to get to us my girlfriend ordered sweet potato fries and got regular fries that were burnt so when they did bring her sweet potato fries they were burnt as well no apologies for the long wait and no apologies for the burnt sweet potato fries. read more

It was our first time having dinner there tonight. It came highly recommended from a local friend. It has some nostalgia and the locals definitely seem to love it. Our wait for the food was long and our server was "nice enough" but seemed mostly unenthused about being there, as was the general feeling of the place. We did finally get our food and it was pretty good. The greens bean side tasted "straight out if the can" but the fried pickles were great!I had the Asian Salad and loved it until toward the end discovered a hair in my food (gross!) The bathrooms were pretty awful too. Nasty unflushed toilet and broken paper towel dispenser and hard to get toilet paper. The place just has a over all "tired" feeling to it. And the bill was over $80 (tip included) for a family over 4 (one of the orders was a kids meal) yikes!! So all in all, it was a slightly elevated "Diner experience" with Steak House prices. The appetizers were fantastic. Mushrooms, potato skins, onion rings, and cheese sticks were all spot on. My wife ordered a grilled chicken salad. The salad was good and she said the chicken was good but the bowl was very unstable and hard to eat out of. She tipped it over 2 different times. My biggest suggestion would be to get some different plates and bowls. Overall it was a good experience. My food was ok. Ultimately I would recommend sticking with a burger and the appetizers. Tony and I was traveling on Rt 33 on the back roads home to Nashville from our weekend in Johnson City..and we were looking for something new and found this Grill...Apparently its a chain of some sort but its the first one we have ever ran across or ate at..and the heavenly grill smell from the parking lot...we had to stop and check it out.. The sign said "Steaks and Shakes, Burgers and Fries"...sounded like our kind of place. We were greeted immediately and it being a Sunday around noon that is good, we beat the Church Crowd rush...we were seated in a comfortable booth and our waitress came over to get our drink order. Tony went with a 22oz Draft of Budweiser Lite and I ordered a Glass of unsweetened tea with lemon and lime (they had no lime)...oh goodness but not a deal breaker. We told her it was our first time but she didn't offer or suggest anything on the menu she just smiled and siad they would be right back..Tony ordered the Bel Air Philly Steak with onions and mushrooms and side of Au Jus and I ordered the Mushroom Swiss with Tomato, lettuce, mayo, onions, jalapenos medium rare with Au Jus ..we both received a side of fries but NOT that great!!! But I have to admit the sandwich was huge and Delicious!!!! Tony and I split our sandwiches like normal, but Heck after eating my half of the Burger, I couldn't eat my half of the philly but I did take a bite and it was really good!!! I added jalapeno to mine..Tony ended up pulling them off when he ate the half I couldn't finish.. The service was fast, and she was very friendly ...the food was good. The fries were cut from the potatoes, and tasted okay..just overly salty and too greasy for my liking but I loved that burger!! I would eat here again..The price was reasonable..for our food, drinks and taxes with tip...$30 not bad!!!! I would go to this restaurant again if I was in the area..I don't get to Knoxville much..but it was a winner in my book.. Our party of three enjoyed breaded mushrooms, the top chef salad with fried chicken on it, country fried steak and French fries (with the pepper gravy over both) coleslaw, and the club sandwich. We went there in September 2021 and weren't happy with the service or the food. Thought we would give them another try and it wasn't any better, probably worse than before. I ordered the Signature Bel Aire Chicken Sandwich and was brought a grilled chicken breast on rice. The fry's were cold and soggy. The chicken was tough or the knife was very dull. My wife had potato soup and a club sandwich. The soup left a lot to be desired, very bland, but she enjoyed the club sandwich.
