Underwhelming and overpriced. Wife went for lunch and she had a good experience so we both went out for dinner. -wait staff did not seem educated about the menu - $30 lobster ravioli special was five pieces of flat ravioli -jumbo crab cake is ok at best -dessert cake is ok at best After the lobster ravioli entree we were still obviously hungry. For 150$ dinner, we had expected more. Save your disposable income for somewhere else. If MGMT wants to reach out and rebut my claims, please do so. read more

The igloos are warm heavy sweaters aren't even needed, do you have the ability to turn the space heaters on or open the windows. Food is always terrific. Staff is always great. read more

This is an outstanding farm-to-table experience. I was traveling on business and went here for someplace different. Sat outside as it happened to be an incredibly pleasant evening. Had the cauliflower appetizer. I'm thinking about driving my wife 6 hours to have it again. Yes, it was that good. HAVE to have it with the bacon, though. The salmon entree was a little disappointing. I love a good faroe island salmon, so my expectations are pretty high. This was a little overcooked, but still had great flavor and a very nice presentation. I opted for dessert and, all I can say is WOW. I don't even remember what it's called other than "the smores thing." They'll know. It was gluten free, which I needed, and simply incredible. Whatever was on top that mimics the marshmallow was a little spongy, but almost reminded you of a foam. It was just amazing. read more

I very rarely write a "not good" review but I am flabbergasted by the service I just received at Belfre Kitchen. My assistant made a reservation (confirmed it 2X) as she needed to ask for a first floor table for one of my employees that has a mobility issues. I walked in and advised the hostess (not sure if that what you would call her) that I had a 1130 reservation under my name. She proceeded to tell me that I did not. I showed her the communication from my assistant and she still was adamant that I did not have a reservation. She finally said she could seat us upstairs, I told her that the person that I was meeting has a mobility issue - she begrudgingly seated us in a corner, which was fine. At 1225pm, she came to the table and told me that she had a reservation for our table and they we need to leave. She said that they were busy and they only allow people to sit for 1 1/2 hours-I told her that we have only been there for 55 minutes and also told her that I have never been kicked out of a restaurant. I was embarassed as there was people all around that heard her tell us that we needed to leave. After I showed my disappointment in how she treated us (rude), she told me that "oh you can stay, I will figured something else out". Well, I was not going to stay there one more minute. I proceeded to pay $50 for 2 salads and left. I also called my assistant and asked her to cancel the other 2 reservations that I had there. Pretty sad! read more

The Belfre Kitchen in Delafield, WI is in a beautiful old church in the heart of town. You walk into an open and inviting atmosphere, the hostess and wait staff were friendly and attentive, we arrived at 2pm and had immediate seating. Looking forward to tasting the delights of their executive chef, Amado Casanova, we began our meal with beef empanadas and poutine as starters, both of which were delicious (fireworks for the mouth!); when you look in the dictionary for poutine, this is what you'll find. For our main course, we tried the roasted tomato bisque topped with parmesan shavings (excellent--a rich, creamy, roasted tomato flavor and the parmesan gave it the perfect zing), the tagliatelle pasta (house-made pasta, brown butter, pumpkin seed pesto, butternut squash, brussels sprouts and local Wisconsin parmesan--out of this world delicious, the savory flavor of the vegetables and brown butter with a note of sweet from the squash), and our teenage daughter had the chicken pot pie with a twist. This dish is worth its own review: a braised quarter chicken is served atop a large, flaky, hand-rolled biscuit, beautifully layered on a plate of roasted carrots and potatoes in a celery-seed veloute. Also important to note that while our daughter loves chicken pot pie, she does not particularly like chicken alone. She had indicated she wasn't very hungry and would share the pot pie, but after the first bite, she devoured the dish and exclaimed that the chicken was "the best thing she had ever eaten." Now that is saying A LOT. We finished the meal with the piece de la resistance, a yuzu fruit custard with a drizzle of earl grey syrup. The complex tones of the syrup perfectly complimented the tangy citrus custard, and we savored every delicious spoonful. If you look up ambrosia in the dictionary, this is what you will find. We traveled out of our way to visit this restaurant because we'd heard great things about chef Amado Casanova and we are so glad we did. The owners have done the steeple justice by creating a warm and inviting atmosphere from this historic landmark. read more

We've visited twice to Belfre Kitchen, a gorgeous restaurant in the western outskirts. Seriously love the space and decor! First was for an event in the summer, we enjoyed the patio very much and sampled several appetizers and drinks. All were tasty! We recently went back for lunch and were disappointed. Food: we both had burgers, we ordered them medium and med-rare. His came out well done (and dry), mine came out medium and tasted fine. He really didn't care for his overdone, overpriced, dry burger. I was mostly disappointed that the menu said it had aioli on it but the server had no idea what I was talking about when I asked where it was since there was no aioli on the sandwich. The potatoes were pretty tasty though! They really gouge the price here. If I'm paying that much for a burger, it better be the best I've ever tasted. This was not the case. Service: we had a young, nervous server who was nice but once she dropped our food orders off we didn't see her again. In fact, we had to beg for our bill and then beg to pay! This waiting game took 20+ minutes! We finally went to the bar to pay our bill. While I'm sure others won't have the experience we did, I can't recommend this place. read more

AH-MAZ-ING. The ambiance is very near, converted old church with a modern flare. The staff was very friendly and attentive to filling water glasses. We each ordered a cocktail and they did not disappoint, multiple unique flavored drinks. We started with the baked brie which had a neat presentation. Some of the cracker pieces were a little soft, but overall a nice crunch. Both Entrees were severed beautifully and tasted even better. We had steak and the salmon, both were fantastic. Ended the meal with crème burlee, they change this flavor, we had chocolate raspberry.... Just like everything else, it was heavenly. We will be back to try brunch soon! read more

We ate here on a Friday for lunch, and they were out of a lot of things and the waitress wasn't even aware of it (so we would order, and then have to reorder when she would return to tell us they were out). It also didn't make sense what they were out of: Bloody Mary mix and Hummus (all things very easy to make with very few ingredients). Also, being out of Bloody Mary mix on a Friday in Wisconsin is a culinary crime of sorts .... The food itself was quite good, though (we ordered the Walleye sandwich and salad), and is reasonably priced for lunch; however, the one time we went here for dinner we found the food to be a bit high priced for the portion sizes and not really worth the experience. read more

I loved this place! Old church converted into a great restaurant with awesome food and ambiance. Large portions, service was great. Nice moderate level for music and energy, so you can hear each other talk. I had the seared tenderloin and my friend had the salmon (gluten and dairy free). I loved both but the salmon was really delish! Good sized portions! Went home with leftovers. Decent prices. The only thing I would have liked to see was more of the church theme in decor where are the old church pictures? Otherwise it was a place if I lived here I would frequent. I stopped into the Belfre last weekend to meet a friend for lunch. The decor is lovely and the food was simple but delicious. I was able to make a reservation, which is always handy. I made a note that she would have her infant with her, and they gave us a table for 4 with a booth so we had plenty of space. (They also kept the 2 top next to us open, which may have been a coincidence but it was nice to have the extra space). She got The Usual and I got the Avocado Melt and we were both quite pleased. The sourdough bread was lightly toasted and buttery, with a nice balance of avo and cheese. It came with home fries that were crispy without being over fried. Would definitely pop back in for another meal if I were in the Delafield area again. read more

I had to try this due to the fabulous reviews and it looks like such a cute place whenever I pass by. Went for brunch and it was not busy at all and a beautiful day so sat outside. The patio is lovely. I was very excited to try a cocktail and as a crafter of cocktails myself, I'm probably more critical than the average customer. I had the sparkling negroni and husband had a lemonade. First off my drink was fine but an overpowering flavor of artificial orange. The presentation was nothing special at all. A wedge of orange. A simple sprig of thyme would have made all the difference!!! My husbands lemonade had no garnish and tasted very strong of reconstituted lemon juice. He had a beet salmon toast that was good but the potatoes although tasty, were a bit burnt and tasted burnt. Here's where it gets bad for me. I ordered the steak and eggs. Medium steak and well fried egg whites. My eggs were grossly slimy and under cooked. My husband ate them cuz he'll eat anything. My steak was well done. Now this would have forgivable but since it was sliced before plating, the chef knew damn well and opted to serve it anyway. I waited a bit but I was hungry and our server wasn't checking so I ate it anyway. Decent flavor and a choice cut but definitely dry and overdone. My potatoes had an aoli that was good but I expected it with my steak for some reason. I mean look at these pics. Our bill was $50 for this. 2 drinks and one was non alcohol. I expected so much more. Every visit the service has been about the "customer experience" and we always leave satisfied with the food, menu choice and service. I sampled their spring menu with a few changes. I had the Spring Vegetable Tellefornia (home made pasta) loaded with bell peppers, radish, herbs and choice of chicken or salmon. I had the chicken. The best part of the night was spending hours talking to Amy and Bob (owners) and discovering what drives them, what motivates them, what their mission and philosophy is, and a bit about their background. Wow, interesting people would be an understatement! You can see what has been their guiding light in life has translated to how they run their business, life and family. People I admire and would want to support their endeavor. Amy took us on a tour of the kitchen and restaurant, talked about the renovation they took on for the building, introduced us to the executive chef and sous chef, and I was able to ask what inspires the menu... it isn't one thing... it is similar to Bob and his music, it isn't one thing that inspires writing his music... it is similar to what Amy (and Bob) talked about for Belfre... it is about the overall experience, it's about family and Jay their manager wraps all of that up every time we visit by greeting us by name, making sure little things are met for our experience and then saying good night and see you soon. We are new to the area after having lived in Milwaukee for 10 years and holy smokes, been here 2 times and both times I've been left talking about how good the meal was for the rest of the day. We did brunch the first time a few weeks ago and it was incredible. Really fresh ingredients, cools spins on some classic dishes and they passed the litmus, have great pancakes. Had great pancakes. You're probably thinking I'm some kind of pancake eating slub that doesn't know a good griddle cake when he see's one, not true. Coffee, awesome. Donuts, awesome. Breakfast burrito, really cool, super awesome. Lox and toast - awesome. It was all just awesome, not a single miss. Dinner - what can be said, it was super great. Cocktails were all good, the on menu were great, off menu were fantastic. We did the edamame, cheese board and baba ganoush for starters and I would get all of them again. For entree I did the filet and my fiancee did the poke bowl with tuna - both outstanding. I have some picky steak people in my life and the whole time I was saying how we need to get those people to this restaurant. The steak was simply perfect. Great flavor, great texture, cooked to perfection, gravy was meaningfully good, potatoes (which I think are usually a waste of time) were delightful and greens were a nice touch. A table mate ordered the burger and said it was incredible. Also her fries were something special. The seasoning on those fries is really interesting and thoughtful. Turning a potato (again, kind of dumb sometimes) into a star on the plate. The Belfre kitchen is beautiful- loved the feel of this establishment. But that's all I was really impressed with. Our service was slow and impersonal. It took nearly 30 minutes for my husband and I breakfast to come out- all of which was a breakfast burrito, pancakes and a side of sausage. The pancakes were fine but underwhelming at a steep price of $11. And my side of sausage was very dry and mealy. My husband did not like his burrito at all... he described the meat as the same taste and consistency as what you would get at Taco Bell. Very disappointing as the reviews made it seem great and walking in such a beautiful establishment, expectations were high. Will not be returning. read more

I tried brunch at Belfe, which is a cute restaurant in a restored church in downtown Delafield. I had the rye crepe, which was a buckwheat crepe stuffed with Gouda and ham and served with delicious potatoes. The ham was fresh and cooked to perfection. I also recommend their waffles, which were served with a dollop of incredible chocolate-orange whipped cocoa cream. Don't miss their mimosas; I had the sampler and I liked the Belfre peach mimosa the best. Meh. We spent $200 for two people, and only $40 of that was alcohol. The food is good. Ambiance is nice but crowded. We were jammed between a wall and a narrow high traffic lane. For that kind of money there are a lot of places I'd like to try before going back. And that cost much less! read more
