I had no idea a waffle could taste like this. Seriously I cannot recommend this place enough. I've been here 2 times and appreciate how seriously they take their craft. Especially for first timers, I recommend La Dame Blanche. The way that the waffle pairs with the vanilla is just organic and incredible. Fantastic! La Dame Noire is also really good, but .....and maybe this is just me, but I can't get over the vanilla. read more

This is a mom and pop shop in downtown and would definitely recommend it for their waffles. I was only able to try one Liege style waffles here but it's definitely some of the best lieges in town. Reminds me of the 1 euro waffles back in Belgium. The price is definitely pricey, but I don't think you can find better waffles around. read more

This place, had, a very weird decor lol. A lot of the decorations were literally antiques from the 18th century so be careful when sitting and using stuff, it makes you feel a bit uneasy about breaking it lol. In terms of food it was incredibly I went with the 2. Waffle so apples and vanilla ice cream, such an amazing dessert, and I am probably biased because I love Belgium waffles just saying. This is my absolute favorite place to come to when I visit San Antonio. The staff are so lovely! And the liege waffles are to die for, I literally cannot find anything like them anywhere. I always add the ginger cookie butter to my waffle, the Belgian cream is light and delicious, and the Belgian Chocolate Milk is AMAZING. Always leave happy when I come here. I am visiting from out of state and stumbled upon this place as I was visiting the infamous Alamo in San Antonio. I've never had such an array of options for a helpful waffle! I ended up choosing one that came with fresh, sweet strawberries (which were so fresh that I was really surprised and happy about it) and whipped cream. Oh my goodness, I wanted to get up and order another when I was done with it! Not only did I love the waffle but the service was just as amazing. I was referred to by name and even was asked how my waffle was, it made me feel welcome to be there. I also love the ambience of the place. They tell you it takes 12 minutes to cook the waffle to order, but I think it was slightly less than that. The waffle was good. We ordered it with strawberries, whipped cream, and Nutella. My biggest issue was they charged us for a plain waffle with strawberries and Nutella added. They have an existing waffle combination with strawberries and whipped cream. They should've charged us that price with Nutella added rather than charge us for a plain waffle + strawberries + whipped cream + Nutella. It was more expensive the way they charged us and that annoys me. Also, watch where you sit. The A/C tunnels from above drips down condensation onto you. Wonderful! My family and I discovered this place yesterday and were back for a second time today! Chocolates, great! Espresso and Speculoos homemade ice cream, delicious. Tomato soup, SO flavorful. Belgian waffle (plain), lacks nothing! They have the most delicious blueberry Clafoutis with homemade whipped cream. The Croque Poulet was solid as well as the bacon and leek Quiche. Considering this beautiful establishment is less than a mile from my doorstep, I will be back...frequently! read more

At one point, my wife and I were the only customers in the shop, while 3 people were working (one gentleman was wiping down tables, while our waffle was missing in action). Eventually, the waffle showed up. So, overall, meh. Review update: Be careful, if you choose to patronize this business. After posting my review. the owner replied, and disagreed with me. Please think twice about writing anything that the owner disagrees with. He will write a novella on why you (the customer) are wrong. I was curious to see if this was just a random occurrence, so, I checked other responses from the owner to reviews that were unfavorable. No, the responses have a consistent, vitriolic tone. Came here last night for the second time and it was exactly as great as we remembered. We have only had the ice cream as both times we came, we had big dinners and didn't leave enough room for the waffles. We had the Belgian chocolate and sweet cream together and they were both super and complimented each other very well. Probably the best quality ice cream I have ever had. Wasn't too sweet and didn't leave you feeling bloated. Refreshing and just great tasting. The shop is very cozy and the staff were all very nice and proud of what they do and what they serve. After 4 visits to this establishment, they finally opened. Two days in a row there was a sign stating they would open at 1:30, I'm guessing this is the same sign I saw yesterday and the one that another reviewer saw some time ago. Boo. Only one star because I tried to get treats here twice...and the didn't open on time. Yesterday posted hours stated 1:00...went at 1:10 and the sign in the door said 1:30. Couldn't wait. I don't know why it's taken me this long to stumble upon this place! Such a gem with great food. Tried the waffles with Nutella and bananas. They tell you that it takes a few minutes to make the waffle but it is just amazing! The waffle on its own is sweet and almost has a sugary crust. It is then topped with just enough Nutella and bananas. They make their ice cream in-house and this too was very good. We will definitely come back to try the other items on their menu.
