This shop sells fudge, truffles, candied apples, and - what I came for - ice cream! They had a lot of ice cream flavors to choose from, a least a couple dozen. The smiling young woman working behind the ice cream counter offered to give tastes, but I had already figured out which flavors I wanted. I chose two scoops in a cup, one of Cappucino Chip and the other Turtle Cheesecake. They have several tables to sit at, some along a hallway and more in a back room. I took a seat and was in awe of the huge scoops given. The Cappuccino Chip had a mild flavor (I prefer it stronger) but a fair number of tiny chocolate chips. The Turtle Cheesecake had an excellent cheesecake flavor with swirls of caramel, praline pecans, and caramel-filled mini turtles. I'm usually not fond of nuts in my ice cream but I actually enjoyed the pralines. In my humble opinion, there were too few turtles. But I still loved it. If you're in the mood for a cold, creamy treat while visiting the Alamo, you'll find this to be the perfect place to visit.

I got taro, lavender, and chocolate Oreo, and they were all so delicious and creamy. The portions were generous, and the price felt very fair for what you get. (They have a flight!!!) I also love the local, small, family-owned business vibe. The owners were very friendly, which made the experience even better. My only wish is that they stayed open later on Sundays. Right now, they close at 3 PM, and I would love to be able to stop by for ice cream on my way back to Austin in the late afternoon. Super tasty artisan food ! Very attractive and charming little store. Saw this place walking back from Bohannons the other night and knew we wanted to come back to try it out, and very happy we did. It's sort of like a small French/Belgian brasserie but with a limited savory menu of just quiche and panini sandwiches, but has a fairly wide dessert selection. We shared their Croque Monsieur (grilled ham and cheese sandwich) and were surprised how good it was considering how almost "out of place" this store is given all the very tourist trap, not-so-high quality neighboring businesses surrounding it . But this was a seriously tasty gourmet sandwich: They don't do a bechamel sauce on this like lots of places in France do, but they use some type of garlicky herb pesto-ish preparation that was super tasty. The cheese you could tell was a very high quality cheese, and the bread I'm pretty sure was a sourdough and very nice. We liked it so much we wound up trying a second panini, for this second one we tried their Croque Mistral. This one had tuna salad, a different cheese which I later confirmed from our server was mozarrella, and it also had tomatoes and herbs. Also really good . We were already pretty stuffed from this and our coffee drinks (excellent iced café mocha by the way), but we couldn't leave without trying something for dessert, which seems to be their main gig anyways. So we just shared a homemade strawberry ice cream, and it was fabulous. Probably the best strawberry ice cream I've had in a very long time. They have too many desserts to try in just one visit, so this is one place we will definitely be back for before we head back home. Service was very nice also and worth noting, because obviously these people are genuine animal lovers like us. We were sitting outside at their outside table, and even before we ever ordered anything, we were greeted by some water bowls and biscuits for our dogs, who we had with us. It wasn't just only a nice service touch, this guy said he was a real animal lover, and spends a lot of his free time taking care of stray / feral animals. And we have no reason to doubt him, he seemed very genuine and almost boyishly giddy petting our dogs. So a really nice fellow animal lover, and a really cool little store. Im no food critiquer or anything like that. Just wanna thank the owner of this place for the way he treated me and my buddies earlier in the week. Was in town visiting my buds who are all active duty military. We didnt know anything about this place ahead of time to be honest we were just walking around downtown and stumbled in bc we needed to cool off and the place smelled great from the outside. We were barely seated when this guy I later learned was the owner came to our group and asked if we were servicemen, which branch of service and so on. He surprised us a bit with a truly genuine "thanks for our service" and said a bunchof other really nice and obviously heartfelt stuff to us that aint nobody's business what he said exactly but point is it was nice to hear someone say that kind of stuff to us. Especially my buddy Nate who lost a buddy last year. Then not even two minutes later hes back at our table with one of his workers and a tray full of stuff, chocolate mouse and custerds and other Belgian stuff I cant pronounce. All free on the house!! This guy musta given us over 100 bucks of free stuff. Maybe more, i dont know for sure. And it was excellent by the way for my two cents. No food experts here but we all thought it was friggin' darn good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But my main point was the way this man treated us. Very much appreciated bro, very much appreciated. Thanks again man. The info on the wall challenging me on my belief of what makes a delicious Belgian waffle made me get off their comfy couch and take them up on their claims and boooooy were they right. I'm a simple man, so I just ordered their plan waffle. It arrived in a plate with no silverware so I took a bite and was blown away. Then the forks came and it was quickly devoured after that. No syrup or preserves needed. It was full of flavor and at just the right crisp. You could tell it was no store bought powdered brand you normally get at HEB or the Waffle House. We contemplated getting another but fatigue from the sights and sounds of the river walk and Ripleys along with the post midnight wandering will delay our definite return trip. The only thing I would add to this new place are more defined places for our trash. While the staff walking about was friendly and attentive you can clearly see two trash cans in the back that are household kitchen variety and quite small. Are they for customers or staff was the dilemma I faced before trashing it myself as thanks for the epic waffle and chocolate milk. read more

OMG, HOME MADE ICE CREAM, ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS ! I stopped by this place again today for a quick fix for my chocolate craving, but saw their sign about home made ice cream I hadn't seen before, and had to give it a shot. Fantastic, probably the best ice cream in my life. I had two scoops of their strawberry, just amazing. I know a little something about making ice cream, so I tried to see if they had their guard down and would spill some secrets, and so I just innocently asked the girl at the counter how they make it so well. She said that their strawberry flavor is almost 40-50% real fruit. That's quite something, that is amazing ! I have no idea how they can make money that way cuz strawberries are expensive, but hey, not my worry I guess. The stuff is delicious, that's all I care.. Have to come back with my boyfriend and go thru their flavors line, because apparently they are making quite a wide variety now. read more

On vacation with my family, and stopped here because we wanted to see how they did a real Belgian waffle and if it was like the ones we've had in Brussels last year. The chef here turns out to be a REAL Belgian AND Vietnamese, so that made me very happy (since I'm Vietnamese and studied in Belgium when I was younger). The creme brulee was great and the mousse was delicious! We were happy to get some ice for our bottled water (since they didn't do tap water) and the lady was very nice about it and sold us more chocolates than we could have ever asked for! I loved my waffle, though. I don't think they should serve anything but waffles and those pastries the lady makes (chocolates were superb, but a little pricey). Really good! Nice staff, too. All young and all very nice and helpful! After spending almost $60 in here, I'm glad I came in! Definitely reminded me and my family of our trip to Belgium! read more

I and my girlfriend were in San Antonio for a few weeks and became regulars while there. They're definitely new and still working out a few kinks, but while they were a bit slow getting food out the first couple of days, they were speeding up pretty well by the time we left. The waffles are delicious, (I became a regular devourer of their dame noire and my girlfriend loved the fraise et creme). The croque fromage and croque monsieur were excellent as well. I tried a few of their chocolates, and each of them was delicious, including a few with very strong flavors that caught me by surprise. What stood out for us was the way they make their coffee. This is not Starbucks swill---there's an actual espresso machine making all the right howls, and the cafe au lait was smooth without any touch of acidity. back from a family vacation in San Antonio---one of the highlights was this gem of a dessert shop right near the Alamo---was born in France and was unexpectably delighted to find a European restaurant of this kind amidst all the TEX-MEX places in this town---the fare and service were terrific! even though they were very busy, my various questions about the chocolates were couteously answered.by the owner---it was great to find a place that sells Neuhaus choclates and I recommend the nougats--- once inside it is hard to remember you are in Texas because the place has a very distinct European decor and there is classical music being played....enjoyed the chocolates and a great cup of coffee and wished I had not already had dinner because the waffles they were serving looked especially tempting read more

Belgian Sweets has become a favorite stop for us as business brings us to San Antonio on a regular basis.This time I ordered waffles with homemade ice-cream and Belgian chocolate syrup topped with real homemade whipped cream and it was absolutely scrumptious! It is a real treat to find a place that serves fresh, high quality food and offers such a charming and romantic atmosphere. And the staff is really friendly. I enjoyed a very good cup of expresso and sampled a few decadent pieces of choclate nougat which were a little pricey, but well worth it I already look forward to my next trip back when I will try another version of their authentic Belgian waffles. read more

I stopped in this little place after some colleagues and I arrived in town for a work summit only because the staff at our hotel said it was good. I'm not a huge fan of sweet things, but I was glad to see it wasn't ALL chocolate. They had some awesome panini sandwiches (none of which I could pronounce), but the ham and cheese with butter sandwich I had was REALLY good and had the perfect amount of savory to it. I was also told by the girl at the counter that the creme brule (spelling?) was "the best since Paris" so I took one of those as well. Damn was it good! I don't like sweets, but this one has me. I've also tried the mango matcha and honestly, it was a different mango taste and wasn't too sure if I was the biggest fan of it. Other than that, the staff are always so kind and helpful! We made an area for the paletas and displayed the flavors, chamoy and tajin were provided and the staff came to retrieve the cart when the party ended. I love that they state that certain flavors are gluten free, low fat, dairy free, etc. They have a wide selection of toppings from fresh fruits (kiwi, strawberries, etc), cosmic brownies, cookie dough, popping boba, chocolate chips, chocolate syrup, etc. Ambiance: It's bright and colorful in the shop. They have comfy couches and fun chairs. They also have outdoor chairs as well. Service: The staff puts the toppings for you. I like that knowing that not everyone is touching all the toppings.
