This is a great place for lunch. We were passing through on the way to Bar Harbor. The menu has a wide variety of item to suit any palette. There were 6 fresh soups to choose from. Our group had Clam Chowder, Loaded Potato Soup, and Chicken and Dumpling Soup. Our sandwiches were Pulled Pork, Turkey Melt, and a Mozzarella, Pesto Panini - all good. We had brunch here on Father's Day and it was wonderful! Their menu truly has something for everyone from our picky 12-year old to our health conscience daughter who loves fruits, vegetables and avocado toast. The dining area has lots of options- many booths for privacy, indoor or outdoor seating and even a bar area to grab something quickly. The interior lights were interesting and the new paint and decor were nice and clean. We appreciated the ability to get real maple syrup (they had actually run out and sent someone to pick it up ASAP!) for the pancakes etc. And I loved being able to add flavor to my coffee, something I enjoy for special breakfasts and brunches. Well, I really love this place yet some things have declined in value. Tuna sandwich used to be kind of chunky and full of tuna. Now it's sort of a whipped up version ,of tuna, much smaller and tasteless. Nasty and unappealing for the price. Go back to the old way if you can. Thanks! read more

Excellent!! We came here for breakfast for the first time. I ordered the corned beef breakfast dish which was tasty, I do think it needed a light sauce drizzled over for more flavor. First thing that came to mind was horseradish or even a chimichurri sauce. Still, very delicious. My husband ordered the Chicken and Waffles. This was his first time ever ordering chicken and waffles, I've had them many times at different places and it's always 'okay'. Well let me tell you, this was THE BEST chicken and waffles we've ever had. It had a spicy honey that added a wonderful flavor to the dish. Chicken was crispy, waffles were perfectly cooked, and the spice was just right!!! Not to mention, the portions were very filling. Definitely a favorite and we will be back to try more!! Fast food speed with sit down restaurant quality. Fresh meats, salads and baked goods. We got a Rueben (large sandwich!), Italian, chicken salad, BLT and the Curry Chicken salad. It's no wonder this is one of the most popular places to eat in Belfast. The prices are super reasonable and the quality is spot on every time. I've tried many things, the mozzarella salad, the Californian (a veggie sandwich with all the goodies, avocado, sprouts etc.) but my favorite is the spicy black bean veggie burger. It's got pickled beet slaw, smoked gouda, spinach, and garlic aioli on a ciabatta roll...super good! They have coffee, smoothies etc. as well as alcoholic drinks, so it's got something for everyone. Just be sure to get there early since they close at 3pm (but they seem to serve people long after that). Can't say enough good things about these fine folks and their food! Check it out. read more

We had gotten Take-Out a few years back (JUST barely out of the Covid period) and it was "fine". So we thought e would give it another go. We are so so happy we did. My husband got the Red Flannel Hash and it was a 12 out of 10. Just OUTSTANDING. If we could package that up...hmmmm. I had the basic breakfast and it was all perfect. The coffee was also great. My sons and I went to Bell the Cat during our summer vacation to Belfast. Initially, we were not excited about the prices but were committed to enjoying our meal. One son had the breakfast hash and the other the blueberry French toast (when in Maine!). Both raved about how delicious they were. I ordered a salmon everything bagel with scallion cream cheese and while my kids loved their meals, both had entree envy. The people were friendly and the restaurant actually felt very "local". While I will say the prices were unexpected, for the food quality and flavor, we got the most for our money and it's comparable in cost to the area but a higher quality of food and friendliness. My wife has been gushing about Bell the Cat for over a year now. I finally got to go just before Christmas. Personally I'm not a huge fan of having to go to the counter to order especially when there are so many choices and the place is busy. I understand why they do it but I feel rushed and get anxious. I ordered the Earl. Deli sliced roast beef piled high...must be subjective because it was not piled high. I live on sandwiches. Don't tell me it's piled high if it's not. I ordered focaccia bread and got ciabatta bread. The sandwich was ok. The roast beef was tasty for what there was of it. The horseradish and mayo was hardly noticeable. I see the potential at Bell the Cat's. Perhaps, if they weren't so busy. I am interested in trying them again. I just think I'm missing something here. The place is very clean. We were attending a wedding at French's Point. On the day of the ceremony there was no planned lunch. Somebody suggested Bell the Cat and thank goodness they did!! Not only were there a variety of Gluten Free options including wraps, but also they delivered!! Amidst the beauty of the Penobscot Bay and the luxury of the French's Point Beach House accommodations, we were able to enjoy an incredible open faced corned beef sandwich on GF bread, a delightful chef salad, and a half Ultimate BLT and a half Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. That's right, my partner ordered two half sandwiches just to get a full sense of the menu! Their very well designed and well marked delivery van showed up at our door within thirty minutes of placing our order and we got a text to come outside. We parked outside easily. It seemed very busy by the amount of cars outside but we were served quickly! We looked at the menu even though we only came in for coffee and were quiet impressed and considered a second meal! I ordered a red eye and my wife ordered a soy vanilla latte. They were both great. They had great customer service too. Nice at the counter. Happy staff. And even walked out drinks out to us. They encouraged reusable cups by having them available for dine in. Fifth time here and we really like to make a visit when we stay in Belfast and we still totally recommend this place. Great menu that you can see online. Very nice interior. Lovely outdoor space. But during a quiet breakfast on a weekday at about 9am half the staff was in a bad mood and half the staff was wonderfully professional; half the orders came out as ordered and half the orders were not even matching their description on the menu. The good - the grilled chicken salad ordered was fresh and delicious. The ability to customize the salad (add/remove items), was just what was needed. The bad - I ordered online and did not know how to pick up my food...park in the pick up parking spots, go through the drive through, go inside (not my preference)?! I choose the drive-thru since the pick up spots were numbered and nothing on my online order receipt provided any instructions for parking here. When I made it to the window I commented to the staff person at the window that I did not know how I was to pick up my online order. The answer was basically still not instructional and sounded that online ordering was not prefered. To the point, I asked why offer it, if you want people to order inside?! Then I was asked for my "name", to which I replied my last name. Off went the staff person and the window was closed. In a short period of time, the window was reopened and a different staff person again asked me my name, which I restated my last name. I was then actually chastised for not providing my first name. I indicated I did provide it online. So I was told I did not provide it at the window. I responded that it was quite simple to request my full name, or just my first name, if that what was necessary to retrieve an order. Asl, and I shall answer. As someone who owned a customer-centric business, I am astounded I was aactually taken to task for this. The staff person didn't to hear any feedback from me, wanted to have the last word and basically closed the window on me. Quality customer service is as important as the quality of the food. How hard would this have been to say: "Apologies for the delay, we need a first name to look up the order and it took a moment to find it".
