A great place to stop if you are passing through Belfast. I had an excellent loaded BLT with plenty of thick cut crispy bacon and avocado on homemade sourdough bread! Yum! They really have quite a nice selection:sandwiches, vegetarian options and plenty of well made snacks. Everything is better than expected and the staff is great. What more can you ask? Loved it!! Being from out of town, we weren't sure where to go but were so glad we ended up here for lunch! Me and three of my friends stopped in for lunch and got some sandwiches and soup. I was very happy and relieved to find vegetarian options for myself and the boys all had delicious, meaty sandwiches of their own. There were also a ton of yummy drink options to choose from. Everything was delicious and there was a really nice atmosphere/ structural design. It was like being in a fancy loft in the city. Sadly, breakfast is only available for a few short hours but other than that, this place was a real treat and the service was fantastic!! Would absolutely go again :) read more

I've been going to Bell the Cat since they were located on Church Street in downtown Belfast. I've gone a few times in their present incarnation. I ordered the Californian sandwich & my wife had the Greek Panini. Both were quite good, the only minor criticism would be the tomato slice in the Californian was a little 'off flavor'. My wife said she would order the Panini again. Our server Sofie was an absolute delight! Friendly & attentive throughout our stay! We'll be back! read more

Our family appreciated the precautions they were taking and don't believe that it should be rated lower due to the owners being safe. The employees were very accommodating and informative. The sandwiches are flavorful with delicious bread. The blueberry French toast was disappointing, though. Very flat and hardly cooked through, with a strange scrambled egg crust. My husband and I recently vacationed in Belfast and found this place using my handy Yelp app! So glad we did- we were in ME for a week and went to Bell the Cat probably 4 times. Great for lunch- their sandwiches are really good. They also had wifi, so when Husband needed to get online for his fantasty football draft, we went to Bell the Cat . It's in an odd spot- the end of a tiny strip mall/plaza so the space is really big. The staff is great- really nice and by the third visit, knew my husband's coffee order. In addition to the good sandwiches, there's a huge selection of cookies. There are a dozen or so cookie jars and you help yourself! My favorites were the fruit-filled and the orange coconut white chocolate. If we lived in the area, I think we'd be at Bell the Cat all the time!! If you're in the area, it's well worth a visit (or five). read more

The sandwiches are huge! Delicious and fresh, and the iced mocha latte is amazing. I know its a stupid detail, but I love the little stickers they put over your coffee so it doesn't spill everywhere, very thoughtful. The staff is friendly, and the restaurant itself is very clean. Alright, I've tried for the last time at BTC. Totally annoying beyond words, but I will try. 1. If you serve breakfast burrito serve with salsa. ALWAYS. 2. If you serve breakfast and you are out of pancakes AND waffles at 9:45 on Saturday morning. Go home. 3. Get American cheese. Your in America and claim to make sandwiches. 4. The 20% tip we left was not for our server. She was rude and was annoyed when I asked what are the soups. So I was supposed to memorize all the soups you offer at the hostess desk? The tip, was for the young girl with super short haircut at the desk who greeted us and intermittently checked on us when we were there. To the owner, keep her and have her train the new waiters about customer services. Don't let the curly hair one do it. Food was average. Atmosphere and table setting are good. I had the crispy prosciutto on Rosemary bread, and it blew my mind more than I had anticipated. I walked in to order a sandwich thinking it would just be something ordinary but I was wrong. When my crispy Prosciutto sandwich arrived at my table it was hot and the cheese was oozing right out of it. The prosciutto was fresh and had amazing flavor. The part of this sandwich that really made it different yet delicious was the rosemary bread. I have been to Bell the Cat a few times, and it is always phenomenal. We were looking for a place to grab a late lunch before our rental allowed us to check in. I got the vegetarian sandwich which came with hearty (local, I think) bread and house-made hummus. My sandwich was supposed to come with dressing, but it didn't, and my dad's sandwich was supposed to come with mayo or some type of sauce, but it was dry. The space is open with plenty of seating and there are some board games hidden in the back if you want to have a lengthy coffee date, and the service was friendly enough, but I don't know that my experience was memorable enough to warrant a repeat visit. read more

Bell the Cat is our go-to place for great breakfasts. I love the salmon benedict and the fact that they have brunch cocktails, as well as great coffee and espresso drinks. I would not recommend the smoothies or biscuits, however. We also go here often for lunch, and while the sandwiches are generally good, they could be much better. A few criticisms are that paninis should be made on ciabatta or focaccia; the "melt" sandwiches should be melted, as they are typically just warm and the cheese doesn't fully melt; and they need to change the fryer oil more often, because my husband enjoys the chicken cutlet sandwiches, but the cutlet itself is always dark brown and overcooked. He also avoids the pastrami and corned beef sandwiches, as they are overcooked, according to him. Despite the few critiques, this is a good place where we are regulars. Although they need to get a dedicated host to greet people at the front, the servers and staff are generally very kind and welcoming, and the atmosphere is lovely. read more

I got the chicken pesto panini and it is as wonderful as it sounds. Hot off the panini press, the melted provolone over the chicken with slathered pesto. This was one of the best options I could have hoped for on a spontaneous food stop in the middle of 'nowhere.' I highly recommend this place as a stopping point on the way to Acadia. I've never been to Belfast and, as always, Yelp to the rescue! Locals seem to really enjoy this place and I know my boyfriend and I will always be able to find something at a sandwich shop. You order at the counter then they give you a number and you pick your own table. Quite a few tables were dirty and we ended up having to move away from the sunny booth we originally chose due to an unusually loud family. Luckily, it has a bright, spacious dining area and we found another table by a window. I find their system strange as I saw the servers walking around numerous times looking confused while trying to find people's numbers. I saw my server come out of the kitchen, pass my table twice then come back and drop off my food with barely a word. Sandwiches come with a tiny bag of Lay's and a great pickle, but I wish I had realized while ordering that they had other chips for sale as what they give just doesn't hit the spot. I ordered the grilled chicken pesto panini and asked to swap the focaccia for sourdough. When my sandwich arrived it wasn't on sourdough but I was disappointed for only a second as my first bite was incredible. The chicken was so juicy, the pesto was so fresh and the mozzarella, tomato and onion put it over the top. I'm glad they gave me focaccia as it was really incredible. My boyfriend had the ham melt on rye and it was just okay. It tasted like a sandwich we could just make at home, but the rye was very good. If I'm ever in the Belfast area again this is where I'll go, or if someone needed a recommendation for where to go for an easy lunch, I'd definitely say head to Bell the Cat and ask for your sandwich to hit the panini press, as I think that made all the difference! read more

We found this place and have been super happy with everything we chose to eat. The tuna melt with gluten free bread, was the best I have had in many years. All four in my party couldn't stop oohing and smiling with every bite full. The smoothies offered after our delightful lunch was perfect.
