It was a beautiful, crisp fall day and everything just felt right. Bae and I entered here. First impression, incredibly clean and excellent presentation of the sweet treats and pastries. I think there is something for everyone here - even if you're not into sweets they have gigantic quiches, and english muffins and bagels, too! We went for a chocolate coconut creme tart and a good ol' chocolate chip cookie. The tart was TO DIE FOR. Only small criticism is that the crust itself was so hard that we had to struggle to cut pieces. But everything else just delicious. Chocolate chip cookie was excellent, too. Hard to mess that up! We stopped in and bought $25 worth of stuff and then asked them to fill out water bottles (we were on bikes) and they refused.

This place is consistently our first stop when we venture out to wine country and it has never once been a disappointment! My husband and I have several memberships at various vineyards in the area so whenever it's time to pickup shipments or entertain company then we make a point to come here for breakfast/brunch first. The bacon and asiago quiche is AMAZING, to the point where I've actually attempted to recreate the recipe at home several times now and invariably fall short of the deliciousness they create at Bella. The crust is the perfect blend of flaky and buttery, if I could write poetry then I would undoubtedly devote a sonnet to this ambrosial slice of heaven. Besides the non-negotiable slice of quiche I always try a different seasonal pastry, my absolute favorite so far was the chocolate pecan tart they happened to have a few weeks back. My husband always orders the cajun sandwich panini and makes faces of absolute bliss whenever he takes his first bite, I think it's safe to say he enjoys it. If you're looking for a quick and quaint breakfast/brunch before heading out to wineries then look no further. Our habitual breakfast at Bella goes a long way towards keeping us sober during subsequent tastings, and for that I'm doubly thankful to have discovered this precious gem in adorable downtown Calistoga. read more

Yesterday was my birthday so husband wanted to surprise me by order a cake from this shop and asked to drop off to the Thai kitchen and it is next door!! The lady on the phone said we don't do delivery and we are too busy!!!! My husband said understand that but it is NEXT DOOR!!! Came over the weekend for a retreat and drove by and knew I needed to stop by this bakery. The food looked so vibrant and fresh. I ordered a pastry which I devoured before I could take a picture and a ciabatta avacado bacon sandwich with a garlic sauce which was amazing. The service was very efficient and fast. I saved my sandwich for lunch and split the rest for dinner. The sandwich held the freshness. It was amazing and I enjoyed to the last bite! read more

The bakery itself was beautiful and the workers were nice. We ordered a matcha latte and bacon onion quiche. The matcha latte was a bit weak and tasted mostly like milk, but I might be biased because I'm more accustomed to a strong matcha. I live in Calistoga and find myself at Bella quite often. The muffins and baked goods are really good. The quiche and sandwiches are delicious and reasonably priced. I wish that they baked bread, I would come everyday if they did. My one pet peeve is there is always a long line and always understaffed. I walked in 7/1 at 5:01 pm to buy an iced tea, and noticed 2 people waiting to get their food. I walked up to the counter and before I could ask for anything, The woman at the counter said, "we're closed". She was pretty emphatic so I didn't even ask if she could spare an iced tea before she closed. It just wasn't worth it by the look on her face. It was a hot day and I was thirsty but closing hours are closing hours. Still, it left a bad taste in my mouth and I'm assuming that they have all kinds of business and are in the position to turn mine down, even though it was a lousy $2 iced tea. I am Shook. In my experience cakes, come out to dry, to wet, too sweet, not enough filling, or poor flavor in general. I didn't know what kind of cake I wanted. I just knew that my husband loves chocolate and peanut butter. Couple years back I made a Snickers cheesecake and he fell in love with that, so I thought we could replicate it but I had run out of time so I called up this random bakery, can't do the cheesecake but can make a cake and try and get it close. I said peanut butter, chocolate and caramel, and do what you can. Not only was the customer service stellar the cake, I'm saying, the cake was no less than manna from heaven. Peanut butter, packed a punch, but didn't stick to the roof of your mouth and it wasn't too sweet the icing was smooth as silk. It just slipped warm flavor of childhood dreams. The cake itself was perfect in balance of deep chocolate flavor. And yes, I'm going to say it moist Ness. And then there was this liquidy burnt butter, caramel flavored syrupy layer in the middle, that just floated on top of the silky peanut butter. When you got the perfect bite, slide in your fork through all three layers, each flavor stood out on its own perfect and it's texture and blended in our mouths to create a memory. Isn't that what we want when we eat good food? When a special occasion like my husbands, birthday, or an anniversary, or a wedding? We want the food that we put in our mouth to match the feeling of the day. we want that flavor to solidify the memory. I visited here because of the 4-star rating; I don't think it's quite 4-star.I've tried the key lime tart. The flavor on the tart custards has good key lime flavor but the tart crust is far from ideal. It's too soggy. It doesn't have the crunch. The decor of the place is airy with its tall ceiling but I am not smitten enough to declare this as a four star venue. Considered the key lime tart is 6.95, I have much higher expectation. read more

We got there around 4pm. I asked what the cajun turkey was and the lady working told me "it is cajun bacon, but it doesn't matter anyway because we are out of it." On the menu it says cajun turkey, but I guess I will never know. We ordered carrot cake and quiche. The worker was playing with her hair while she took our order and checked us out on the ipad. Without washing her hands, she got the cake out, gestured with it in her hand while talking to someone else, the put it on a paper plate for me. The carrot cake was excellent. I definitely recommend it. The quiche looked beautiful and looked like it was made in house. The problem came when they heated it up improperly. The outside was very hot and the inside was cold. The crust became chewy and greasy instead of flaky. The greasiness of the crust combined with the greasiness of the cheese was not enjoyable to me. While waiting in line, a small sandwich bag fell to the floor from the counter. A customer in front of me picked it up for the server. Instead of throwing it away, the server places right back on top of the pile of other bags. I brought it to the server's attention that the bag had actually been sitting on the floor even though she had seen it fall herself. I barely finished talking when she turned her head and removed the bag only to place it on the prep counter right in my sight instead of throwing it out. What a great gem in the middle of Calistoga. Stumbled upon Bella Bakery while walking around downtown. The baked goods and coffee were great but the barista (owner?) really made the experience. Owner is usually there working as well, if I bought a bunch ( guess how many is a bunch) of donuts or pastries, got a free coffee.
