Stopped in for breakfast when we found that list of the neighboring places weren't open. This worked out nicely as we were delightfully surprised with the service and food. We ordered hot chocolate, cappuccino, sticky bun, quiche, and a chocolate croissant. The cappuccino was nicely drawn and well presented with lots of foam and not too wet. The sticky bun was made in house and really well done. The quiche was nicely flavored and the crust was great but 1 more minute in the oven would have settled the egg just perfectly. For starters, this sweet bakery is open at 6am! As an early riser, who was still on East Coast time, I truly appreciate that! They have awesome coffee and will fix it for you however you'd like too. The baked goods are delish! Our five day stay had us eating this delicousness four days! Their croissants and scones were so fresh, flaky and flavorful. They had fun flavors too. I loved their ginger scone and my husband was a huge fan of the almond croissant. If you wake up late, the good stuff will be gone so don't wait. They also make yummmy egg sandwiches and yogurt parfaits. They don't have a lot of gluten free options. But maybe they will in the future. I'll definitely check back when I visit again. Tried this bakery out because previous place down the road charged $4 per extra shot. One coffee was $13. This place was an improvement on that. Here we tried and asked, still expensive , but $7... fine we knew what we were paying for. The taste of the latte, however, was not good. (We drink expensive coffee/espresso always). We don't mind spending money on a coffee if it is good. We ordered a pastry... $8... (assumed it was $5, still hefty, but expected)... I'm sorry, $7.95, would not want to exaggerate. Either way, we returned it bc not worth getting ripped a new one for subpar coffee and a pastry. Owner was nonchalant, but at least returned the cost of the pastry. Not worth your hard earned money. A few minutes later a waitress shouts from the cash register, "JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT THE SHOP CLOSES AT 3 AND ITS 3:01..." I couldn't believe the audacity! I often order a BLT because the menu says it has avocado, but the avocado has been missing every time. One time I ordered the turkey brie which had no brie. Let me start off by saying Bella has some of the best baked goods in the valley. Their croissants rival Bouchon's--seriously. Their sour cream coffee cake is also to die for. My biggest gripe is that their drinks are miserably mediocre. If this place put as much effort into their beverages as their did their pastries, it would be a home run. The espresso is weak, the milk lukewarm, and the chai terribly sweet. I've given them many chances on the drinks, alas, I remain disappointed every time. The flies landing all over my food as I sip on my sub-par latte inside adds insult to injury. Not to mention the pile of single-use cups and plates heading to the landfill. I love Bella Bakery!! They made our wedding cake for our Calistoga wedding two weeks ago and Paul was incredible to work with. He was helpful, responsive, so kind, and gave us a great price. I asked if he could make custom cookies (with real flowers pressed in). Not only was he open and excited about the idea, but the cookies came out so beautifully. All our guests loved them. Called to get a breakfast and coffee for pickup. Was sitting on hold for 10 minutes while I could hear other customers ordering and getting their things. My girlfriend called to check and make sure they didn't forget about us, no answer. I stay on hold and drive to the bakery to make the order in person. The lady at the front door told me to wait outside while other customers were taking their orders so I mentioned that I had been on hold for 20 minutes now and she told me the phone was broken, it definitely wasn't. Got to the front and saw they left the phone off the hook. Whether they forgot about me or not, it wasn't a great experience especially with the person at the door telling me the phone was broken while I was on hold listening to other people taking their orders. Bella Bakery is an elegant old school bakery with hipster vibes. It has a chalkboard menu, nitro cold brew coffee, along with a crumbling old statue of a plump baker out front. It's an interesting mix of old&new, and it has changed over the years. They once had self-serve Taylor Maid Coffee (out of Sebastopol); now they have Black Oak Coffee (out of Ukiah) behind the counter. They've upgraded their decor over the years. One can see the open kitchen where the magic happens. I got a dark roast Black Oak Coffee along with a rosemary scone for a belated breakfast. It was excellent. Savory scones are a rarity. It's an ideal Calistoga breakfast spot, perfect for people watching. read more

I travelled to Castiloga on a couples trip, several of us were early risers and so we found this open early in the morning, first win! We perused the pastry case, and looked at all the warm breakfast items and ordered a selection. Not a single thing disappointed us!
