Went for an early dinner and we ordered a total of 3 dishes. Marsala, chicken parm and pasta-seafood. Instead of chicken parm they gave us veal which wasn't a big deal. All of the pasta was very very overcooked to the point that is was swollen and soggy - all 3 dishes. The veal and seafood was tasty but the pasta itself ruined all 3 dishes. Microwaved reheated food for $100 - disappointment. Italian bread and dessert were good though is why we are adding a star to 2 stars total. Looks like a nice family who owns and runs the restaurant. A 5 star. No doubt. I am surprised at some of the negative reviews. I believe Bella Costa listened and they provide the best service. I LOVE the Sunday brunch here. It sounds so cheap at $12 but you can't resist the bloody marys or the mimosas... they are HUGE and when you see someone else getting one you just need one too. I could go on for days about how this moderately small place packs in a crowd comfortably even on Easter Sunday ( also recommended) , the freshness and choice of quality ingredients and dishes, and the live music, but of all reasons to come here is the service. The man that owns/manages this place is just about the SWEETEST man in the world. He comes to each table and makes sure everyone is enjoying themselves. He is an old world type of guy with plenty of stories to entertain if you will hear them and he loves kids. All of the wait staff are cut from the same stone, attentive, pleasant and friendly as they are accommodating. Very refreshing for this area. What a "hidden" gem! Perhaps I was just there at the wrong time. My family went there for Mother's Day and there was a limited menu. I'm not a big garlic fan and this place seemed to put a heavy emphasis on garlic in their meals. The Ceasar salad was very finely chopped lettuce with a garlic flavored Ceasar dressing. Pretty blah blah for me. I ordered the chicken parm and it was rubbery textured and burned around the edges. My wife and daughter got the $30.00 steak option and although a bit fatty was tasty and cooked right to order. The children got chicken fingers and fries and neither of them were happy. It came with a sauce that was more like duck sauce. The fries were soggy as well as the fingers. The desserts were tasty and large portions. Service was very slow. We were never asked if we wanted another glass of wine until it was obvious we were finished. I wished we had the waiter who was kinda chubby and wore the cool glasses. He seemed on top of his game. I had been here years before and recalled liking it. I think now they refurbished it and think they can charge much higher prices than it merits. You guys. They poured cheap chocolate syrup over the tiramisu. Yes, the kind of syrup that you keep lurking in the back of your fridge, that never goes bad, that used to make a pretty gross chocolate milk back in the day but you were 5 so you didn't care. I was so pumped for dessert, too. BUT - at least the cannoli was out of this world. I've never had cannoli filling like that before. I had the seafood pasta, which was ok except I bit into a mussle shell that was left in there, and the sauce was supposed to be marinara but it was really, really oily. Everyone else's meals looked pretty good, but it was standard fare. How do you mess up chicken parm? You don't, so stick to the uniform American classics. My boyfriend and I came to this restaurant for the first time this evening and thoroughly enjoyed the food,atmosphere, and fantastic staff members.It is extremely rare in my experience to encounter such friendly, warm, and efficient staff members (especially within the last two hours before the restaurant is due to close for the night). I would like to recognize the exceptional service of our waiter, David. Although it was a steadily busy Friday night, David went above and beyond in every aspect of his job performance. He gave us wonderful recommendations regarding everything from appetizers all the way to desserts. He anticipated our needs before we even needed to ask, and delivered consistently wonderful customer service throughout the entire dining experience. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced, especially the four-cheese crab ravioli appetizer and seafood risotto. Bella Costa is a nice little hidden Italian restaurant right down the street from the Natick Mall. A friend and I came here for dinner on a Tuesday night. We each started off with a glass of wine which came served in an individual mini-carafe. The waitress poured some in each of our glasses and left the carafes with the remainder on the table. Somehow this made me feel like I got more for my money because I got "two" glasses for the price of one. That's some trickery, Bella Costa, but I like it. For dinner I had the seafood canneloni special. A veritable menagerie of tasty sea delights wrapped in pasta with a creamy pink sauce. While it tasted great, it was overcooked, so the texture didn't live up to the flavor. (God, when did I become so whiny?) Anyways, the canneloni noodles were a bit on the hard side and the scallops inside the filling dried out. Prices were on the inexpensive side. I think even the priciest steak dish was only about $20, so if you want a nice night out on a budget, this place would be a good choice. Don't waste your time waiting two hours at the Olive Garden and try this place instead. read more

I wish I would be writing a better review, but I'm not.. Last night we decided to go to Bella Costa for my wife's birthday. We had been there just over a month ago and were very pleased with the food and experience. But a lot can happen in a month in the restaurant business. First, the restaurant wasn't very busy. It appeared there was some sort of birthday party that was breaking up in their event room. And although there were many tables available in the dining room, the host opted to seat us in a booth way back in the corner that had to be bussed first. Our waitress was pleasant. She took our drink order and came out with a basket of rolls. Now the rolls we had there on our last visit were very good; as I recall a mixture of different breads and they were fresh. Last night, the rolls in front of us tasted like they were bought at Stop & Shop. And they were cold! My son ordered Chicken Parmigiana, I ordered the Chicken Bella Costa (sauteed chicken with broccoli served over Penne) and my wife ordered Chicken Portobella (sauteed chicken and Portobella mushrooms in a wine sauce.) Simple dishes, right? Well you wouldn't know it because it took 45 minutes for them to serve our entrees. We noticed people who came in after us (sitting at one of those empty tables) who had already been served while we sat starving in our corner booth. The food tasted okay, not great. Both my dish and my wife's dish were a little heavy on the garlic and the chicken didn't taste fresh to either of us. My son enjoyed the Chicken Parmigiana but noted that it was very thin compared to the last time we were there. One big slice of chicken, breaded, with two round pieces of cheese on top. It didn't look very appetizing yet he said it tasted good. The highlight of our evening. We were dismayed because we've had good meals at Bella Costa in the past, but this one was not so good. Bella Costa is a small family owned restaurant in Framingham at the corner of routes 30 and 126. We decided to give it a try since we had a $5 off coupon and have driven by it many times. This place is your typical "grandparents go for early bird specials" kind of place. It has a nice welcoming dining room with a decent sized bar in the far corner. We were seated very quickly and our booth was in the corner near the bar. It was a little noisy and the wait staff seemed to hang out in this corner. We placed our drink order and asked the waitress what was good. Immediately it was clear that our waitress had no idea how to pronounce most of the items on the menu. The drinks took forever to arrive and I thought that maybe the waitress had forgotten us but eventually she found her way back. My dinner partner started with a glass of wine and it was served with an individual mini-carafe. We were served dinner rolls and an olive oil dip. The dip was bland and without flavor and the bread was dry but had a nice buttery flavor. For our entrees we got the Fettuccini Alfredo with prosciutto and the Veal Saltimbocca. The fettuccini alfredo entrée was tasty and well cooked. It was a nice light alfredo sauce with just the right amount of cheese and the prosciutto was perfect touch to make it flavorful and appealing. The veal entrée however was average. The veal was a little chewy and the sauce was bland and too thick. I would give this restaurant another try and definitely like it better then the Olive Garden down the street but I wouldn't order the veal again. UPDATE 8/30/11: After reading the review of the person above me claiming that their veal was the best they have ever had I returned to give it another try hoping for a better experience. Will not be back. Maybe we just caught them on a bad night, because we read such rave reviews. I will start with the positives. They have a wonderful - and reasonably priced- wine selection. We ordered the stuffed eggplant appetizer, which was delicious. When it came time to place our dinner orders, they were out of a special (perfectly fine) so I ordered the "Chef's Special," which was highly rated on the menu. The meal was a complication of uncooked vegetables and undercooked chicken over a bed of pasta - completely flavorless and really quite off-putting. I ate some of the vegetables and left the rest, sharing my husbands meal. Thinking I might have just been too negative, my husband tried the meal and noted the meal tasted like unseasoned Chinese Stir Fry. When the waitress returned, she asked if I wanted my (largely uneaten) meal wrapped, which I declined. She never asked if anything was wrong with the meal, and charged the whole price of the meal to the bill. I was a waitress for years, and it genuinely pains me to write negative reviews, knowing how important they are to a restaurant's success. I would have refrained from saying anything and just chalked it up to a fluke, but the party at the table behind us had the exact same issue (sent a full meal back and was charged full price). We checked this place out around 6:00 pm on the Friday night before Christmas. From the outside it is an unassuming spot tucked into the corner of a strip mall next to a KFC. We had read a good review recently and decided to check it out even thought we have been in the neighborhood for 30 years and had never thought to eat there. It is a comfortable place with many tables and booths and a nice bar. The place was less than half full when we arrived and never filled up, probably owing to the hour and season. The bar seemed to seat about 20 and almost all seats were taken. We were seated promptly and our friendly waitress brought bread and took drink orders. Despite the Italian name there is a Greek influence to the menu and we split a Greek Salad as an appetizer. It was great. I had the veal parmigiana and she had the veal piccata. We both agreed that our meals were excellent. I had the papardelle pasta with mine that was perfectly cooked with just the right hint of garlic. The veal was perfect and not smothered in cheese as many are. The service was prompt and friendly without being overbearing. The noise level was conducive to conversation, but like I say the place was not full. Christmas music was playing in the background but not obtrusively. The crowd was mostly an over 50 clientele and you could tell that many were regulars. We were glad to see that families with small children were being seated in an adjacent dining room. My criticisms: The bar had a huge TV screen (no sound) tuned to the 6:00 news. It faced the diners. No one should be forced to see the problems of the world while dining. As a beer drinker, I found the beer list rather pedestrian. Some of the best beer in the US is made in Framingham by Jack's Abby yet none was on their list. Bottom line, there was nothing wrong with this place and our meals were excellent. Yet I am not sure I would run back soon. Update - less than 5 days later we had the occasion to dine at the Paparazzi in Framingham. I ordered veal parmigiana. The Bella Costa's version was 10 times better, in terms of quality, taste and portion size. read more

Not from around here, but I was definitely impressed. I shared the Fish and Chips and the Chicken Combo Platter with my mom. The Fish was cooked very well moist with tons of flavor and not salty, the seasoned fries were perfect! The chicken combo had chicken parmigiana on top of the homemade pasta they have with an Alfredo sauce. It was to die for! I wish I had a place where I live that serves food like this. In addition we ordered a corvette summer, tequila with grapefruit juice and club soda, although the waitress didn't know what it was it came presented very nicely and was made well. We called to ask when the pianist would begin playing and then immediately made a reservation, not knowing they would seat us in the back room where you cannot hear the piano at all. The person on the phone should have realized we wanted to be able to hear them - otherwise why would we have asked? The complimentary bread has a strange mealy texture to it. We ordered arancini to start, which was described by the server as being served with meat sauce. Interestingly, it came with marinara (no meat) which was fine, but there WAS meat inside the rice balls - maybe sausage? That was odd as the menu didn't mention meat. We ordered meatballs and homemade linguini. We were offered fresh grated Parmesan which was a nice touch. However the meatballs were pretty dense, not tender. They were also surprisingly spicy and I would not have ordered them if I had known that. The dish was swimming in about twice as much marinara as needed - it unfortunately masked the taste of the pasta. I will say our server was lovely despite the place being very packed. With the pandemic, we're hunkered down at home and only go out to grocery shop. We've been so bored with cooking food at home and ordering unhealthy pizza, that we finally had a brilliant idea: Bella Costa! We've always loved going there for piano nights and family celebrations;, but we hadn't thought of them for take-out. Last night we picked up a calamari with hot peppers appetizer and one order of chicken marsala to share. It was a wonderful meal and we were stuffed. The servings at Bella Costa are always huge, so one entree is plenty for two people. We loved the homemade pasta and marsala sauce. The chicken breast was moist and tender. We have to limit sodium, and at Bella Costa everything is made to order, so we were able to ask for no added salt. I like Bella Costa a lot. The owner and the waiters are wonderful. They are very accommodating if you plan a function or group outing of some sort there. It is an older crowd, but I think the food is very good. Their seafood based Italian dishes are very good, the minestrone soup is excellent, the fresh bread is excellent, and the home made creamy peppercorn dressing on salads is excellent too. I do not think the desserts are made in house, except for the chocolate mousse, which is delish. read more

Ate dinner here while visiting on business. We went on the recommendation of the hotel front desk. I spent 4 years in upstate NY, and lived in Mass for 6 months, so I feel I am qualified to opine on Italian food. I had a veal dish with artichoke hearts and a light tomato sauce; my friend had a veal dish with asparagus, feta, and a white wine sauce. We split a bottle of Pinot Noir. Total all-in was ~$70, which seems pretty reasonable. The veal was very good...nice and tender; could cut it with a fork. The pasta was also done properly (not overcooked). The sauce was good, but the vegetables were undercooked. All in all, it was a good meal, but not fabulous, knock-your-socks-off, gotta-go. My friend said he thought his sauce lacked flavor, but he liked the veal. I'd go again; it wasn't bad. Service was friendly and the price was reasonable, and the food was good. It's a nice neighborhood place for a night out..maybe not a special nite like an anniversary, but a nice dinner out with the spouse. Portions here were crazy. I got lasagna and the leftovers lasted 2-3 meals. It came as a large square aercing and was really tasty. The waiter was great nice, friendly and witty. After my meal came the waiter offered freshly grated cheese which was cool. The ambiance in the restaurant was cute and cozy. I would definitely return. From what I understand, this place underwent renovations a while back. It used to be dirty and divey. My friend who took me here hardly recognized the place as it is now. The restaurant is cozy with dim, intimate lighting. The perfect place for a little Italian dinner with your date. Our waitress was very polite and did a splendid job at checking in with us throughout the night. But what really got me excited about this place was the food so I'm going to jump right into it! Their normal menu is enormous---or should I say, e"NORMAL"ous....heh..heh....I'll see myself out. Terrible jokes aside, the menu can get overwhelming so it might be good to go with a favorite pasta dish for your first time here. Even if you get your go-to dish, I can assure you it will not "be the same taste/flavor" since they appear to make most things from scratch here including the sauces and pastas. I ordered one of their seasonal specials, which was a squash ravioli with chicken, figs, brussel sprouts & mushrooms in a creamy sauce that wasn't dissimilar to carbonara. The figs certainly added a new dimension to the dish that makes you pause to think "hm, that was interesting!" I have family who lives nearby, so I've been to Bella Costa a couple of times. I've never had to wait to get a table, and it's always pretty low-key when I've gone. The service is always excellent - the servers and hosts are very engaging, friendly, and attentive. The food is great, but I wouldn't travel all the way from Boston just to eat here. I've had their salmon and chicken before, and it's always been delicious. On this past trip, I had the veal with artichoke and mushroom. It's very easy to mess up veal, but Bella Costa prepared it perfectly. The family member I was with also had veal and though he's not a huge fan of it normally, he was very impressed by how tender it was. It's a great restaurant in a surprising location (in a sort of strip mall next to a Taco Bell and a rundown pizza place). After all, it is the "best italian restaurant 5 years running...But the food was almost as disappointing as the dent it put in my wallet. We tried this restaurant on a weekend not too long ago. The parking lot was busy as they share parking with other stores in the strip. Ambience was nice. Booths and tables as well as a long stretch bar. Reminds me of older restaurants in town but updated. Soft dim lights and a piano player through part of the dinner. I did enjoy the live piano. The wait staff were attentive and pleasant and appear to help each other out. I ordered the Fruit de Mare and enjoyed it. My only gripe, would be that I would have fully enjoyed dinner had it been hotter. My pasta was not. This could very well be, because I was with a few other people and maybe they wanted to bring the food out all at once. And seafood does cook faster. read more

We came to Bella Costa when we wanted to try something new and were glad we came. I was surprised by the romantic vibe when we went for date night, and the piano player was a plus! The only downfall is that their parking lot is extremely tiny, though they do offer valet parking. We really enjoyed the bread before our meal and the menu had a great selection of Italian favorites.
