Bella Milano brings great Italian food to the metro east, with a upscale casual atmosphere and quality service. Be advised that this is a popular place and it is often packed, with good reason. The food selection is great, you can order anything from seafood, pasta, pizza and even steak or chicken . I opted for a special which was an Apple Pork Risotto, which was nothing short of amazing. I wish that it was a regular on the menu . The atmosphere is very nice, somewhat upscale while still maintaining a relaxed casual setting. The service is also great, our waiter was always there when she was needed without crossing the line of being overly annoying. This is a place you have a nice dinner with the family or bring a date, either way everyone should leave happy. Prices are somewhat reasonable with a few exceptions. Pasta ranges from $10-16, with some extras like chicken or meatballs costing more. However most of the pastas do come with either Chicken or meatballs. The entrees can range anywhere from $18-27, which in my opinion is a little too high but the food is amazing so I will give them a pass. When I am in Edwardsville Bella Milano is usually on my list. Also the Edwardsville location is actually one of three, with the other the in Springfield and O'Fallon, IL. I highly recommend Bella Milano, if you are ever nearby any of their locations. read more

I have been to this restaurant twice now and both times the experience was OK. The first time I was there I had the pork chops, which were good, and the most recent trip I had the chicken parmigiano, which was just OK. The chicken seemed a bit overdone and dry, which was quite disappointing. The rest of my group seemed to really like their dishes which ranged from pasta to seafood, which means maybe I am just not selecting the right dishes. The one thing that I really like at Bella Milano is the Milano dressing for their house salad. It is very delicious and almost addicting. I lapped up every last drop with the bread. Although the restaurant is located in a strip-mall, the atmosphere is quite nice, and the staff was friendly and attentive. I would have liked to give it 3.5 stars, but due to the price of the food and the quality I received I had to knock it down to 3 stars instead of rounding it up to 4. read more

This place was just okay. I was a little disappointed as many people had mentioned this place was pretty decent. The martinis and the toasted ravioli were awesome! My husband ordered the veal marsala and it didn't even taste like there was any marsala in it. It was pretty bland. I ordered the pepperloin which was okay. The house salad were also really good. It was in the winter. I remember the date because it was my birthday. It had been seven years since my last trip. I recall that visit as well. I may be off on the butter. However, I am certain as to the dish. It is your seafood linguini in a wine sauce. I have had it two times and find it a horrible mess. I specifically requested if they could make the same dish with a cream sail use instead. If not, I would make another choice because of the mess it makes. I prefer to eat not wear my dinner. I wasn't happy with the result. Enough said. As for the tip, I am certain about this as well. We had separate checks and a party member pointed out the included gratuity. We discussed it at length as to the impact on service and even discussed how some businesses are making it a standard for all checks. You may not be aware of it, but I assure it was added to our bills. Like I said, the staff was friendly enough, the food was passable. I took a couple bites of mine and took the rest home because I didn't want to wear it. After it sat in the fridge for a couple days, the sauce has thickened sufficiently to where it was a good meal. Bella Milano is one of my favorite places to enjoy classic Italian food. Whether it be for lunch, dinner, or catering, Bella offers a wide variety of delicious dishes. In particular, I enjoy their seafood options, such as the salmon with sriracha glaze or the traditional pasta dishes with shrimp or scallops. I also love the chicken milano, which comes with a creamy provel sauce. I almost always have the caesar salad as a starter with anchovies, of course. I've only been to the location in Edwardsville so far, but I've had their catered food at many events. In the summer, the patio is a great place to enjoy a long lunch. Bella Milano brings something great by way of bread and olive oil with shaved parmesean cheese. I would return just for the bread and oil, or as its known, "Italian Butter". The lunch specials are a great deal and all come with a salad and sizeable portion for around ten dollars. That can't be beat in a town starving for authentic Italian food. While it is a commercialized version, they hit the nail on the head with simple dishes. The chefs special is always pleasing as well. We were on the way home Saturday afternoon from St Louis and decided to stop in Edwardsville for supper. We both had a craving for pasta so went to Bella Milano because we've enjoyed the one in Springfield. It was early, 4 PM, which turned out to be a good thing because it was Homecoming! Our waitress was great -- very attentive even after it got busier, but not hovering. My husband ordered the Chicken Stasilli with oven roasted green beans (vegetable of the day) and it all looked delicious! I ordered Shrimp Rosalino with a side of pasta and it was fabulous! For dessert, I ordered the bread pudding. The menu said it was two kinds, but they tasted the same to me. It was delicious, but I was a little disappointed that it didn't seem like two different kinds of bread pudding. House wines are Mondavi, so they are a very good choice. read more

We requested outdoors due to COVID and we were seated in an outdoor tent. There was a party of about 15-20 people that were already there and were VERY loud and buzzed and got louder as we had our appetizer course. Not wanting to dampen their party, we asked our server Chris (who said he was new for about a month) if he could move us and still keep him as our server. He moved us so quietly and expediently. It was very professional. And then our meal came--all four of us very much enjoyed our meals--DELICIOUS! And while they moved us indoors, it was very much away from others in a nice quiet spot where we could enjoy getting to know our son's girlfriend for the first time. Excellent food and excellent service. Chris was a stellar server (I wish I had gotten his last name because he was wonderful). Very much enjoyed it once we were able to be moved! My parents raved about Bella Milano so when we were in town we all decided to go. Went on a Wednesday evening and it was very busy but we were seated right away. It took about 8 minutes for our server to come over and take our drink order. He came back about 5 minutes later with the drinks and we placed our dinner order. He never really came back much after that except to deliver our dinner. I had the seafood ravioli and it was very good. It wasn't very hot..but it was still good. Everyone at my table actually had the dish except my husband - he had chicken parm and said it was good. The server never came back to check how our meals were. I honestly felt bad for him. You could tell he was overwhelmed and doing the best he could. He had sweat pouring off him and he was just running around like a chicken with his head cut-off. He had WAY to many tables. It seemed like they didn't have enough servers but they have 3 hostess (who were pretty useless). It's a shame because the food was pretty decent, the service just needs a bit of work. read more

My husband and I don't always get the chance for date night, so we were so pleasantly surprised with our first visit here. The house salad and bread were to die for. I would have been fine just with that as a meal! My husband got a baked pasta that he absolutely loved. I got the lobster ravioli that was ok! Very nice place in Edwardsville, Il which is otherwise starved for Fine Dining. We needed to have a COVID-era reservation but everything was timely. The highlight was our server who was full of energy and good suggestions. Bread was ok, wine suggestion decent, ambiance good, prices reasonable. The only thing really bad was that I ordered something called "sea bass" off the menu and it turned out to be tilapia. I was offended by the insinuation that I wouldn't know the difference. It was prepared ok, but what the hell is that? Does the chef think that people in Edwardsville are too dumb to know the difference. Anyway, I didn't make a scene because I liked the server and it wasn't his fault. I pointed it out to the others at my table and decided to do this. They should've just called it what it was... Tilapia or explains at the table that they are out of Seabass... Something. My guests ordered pasta dishes and they liked them enough to take the remainder home in a box so... After perusing their well organized Gluten Free menu on their website, I was intrigued by the prospect of having their Citrus Honey Glazed Salmon. Was not disappointed! We came for our 24th wedding Anniversary. Got here just 1/2 hour before they closed for the day. With that being said food and service was excellent. My wife got the pan seared chicken with angel hair pasta and I had the grouper with stir fry vegetables, it was great. In addition my wife loves sweet wine so we had a bottle of Electra, nice and cold. We had the mushrooms as an appetizer also delicious. As the waiter came back to check on us we mentioned it was our anniversary and he recommended the chocolate cake with the raspberry syrup ,along with the rest the meal, it was a splendid finish to a delicious and well prepared meal. This was our dinner selection for our first date night since moving to the Edwardsville area. The staff was friendly and conscientious. We ordered crab cakes to start. I thought they were crispy, flavorful and nearly perfect. Hubby did not agree. He thought they were just ok. I ordered the cannelloni. My husband ordered the pasta 3 way. My dish made me smile contentedly as I ate. Hubby found the red sauce to be too sweet for him. He did however eat all of the leftovers so I am not sure how much the sweetness truly bothered him. I probably shouldn't review Italian restaurants but I will go against my better judgement here. The ambiance here is nothing special and you certainly won't feel like you've been transported back to the old country but it does provide an open space that makes a useful spot for big groups. Just as I was not wowed with the location, I also was not impressed with the food. Not that it was bad, but my spaghetti and meatballs were lukewarm and they charged $10 for 6 pieces of toasted ravioli which tasted like they came out of a box. I don't want to harp on a few mediocre dishes but it was all a little overpriced for me, especially with the quality being a little below Carrabbas. I will admit I have a similar sentiment at all Italian restaurants as we are just eating $20 noodles here people, but this place shouldn't be able to charge as much as they do and they wouldn't if there was any competition. Had a tough experience that Malcolm saved. We placed an order on line to pick up as we travel across the country. The order gave us a confirmation but never transmitted the order to the store. When I arrived hungry and ready to eat their was no order. I was not a great customer at that moment. Good company and strong drinks. The waiter was polite, knowledgeable, friendly, and could joke around with our group of 7 out for a birthday dinner. First up, the drinks. I ordered the Moscato from the menu and was quickly offered an off-the-menu name brand that sounded too good to pass up. The martini's had fun names such as 'sunshine' and the waiter poured it at the table and shook, paused, and poured at the liberty of the birthday girl who was documenting ever step. Food: mmmm. The caesar salad was the perfect crunch of romaine and was just right with the amount of dressing. Along with the salad, I ordered the Bruschetta, which was the first I have ever had. Cheesy, crumbly, phenomenal. When leaving the restaurant after a good experience @ 9PM we thought we closed the restaurant down. After stating this aloud, waiters that were closing down the restaurant joked around with us saying that 2 other tables have beat us out!
