They cannot do nail designs but did not admit to it. I am rating 1 star due to inability to deliver as promised. First time at this salon, we were traveling. My daughter wanted stars on her fingernails, showed the technicians photos of what she wanted. Single red star on each nail. I asked if they could do it. One tech pointed to another tech and said she could do it. End product was lopsided uneven white star outlines on each nail. (like how you drew in elementary school). not only was color wrong but wasn't solid and quality was very poor. Ver disappointed in the lack of transparency. I had my first pedicure since the end of February with Mai at Bella Nails today. It was great. They have done a nice job of setting up just two tables and one chair for pedicures outside on the wide sidewalk, all separated by potted plants. I thought it would feel weird but I felt quite comfortable. Mai greeted me at the car with hand sanitizer and had me sign in (a Covid requirement, I believe). Please support this female owned business in Scotts Valley. High marks for creativity and safety. I think they are the only nail salon in Scotts Valley operating this way. read more

I almost don't want to share this review because this place truly is a hidden gem. Michelle does the best acrylic (pink & white, ombre, etc) nails. I used to go over the hill to have mine done and I'm so happy I found Michelle so I don't have to trek over the hill now! Gel pedicures are also awesome. Mai is super friendly as well, you can't beat the customer service. Salon is very clean and well organized, it's been updated to reflect the new pandemic guidelines. read more

I am confused how this place has 4 stars. The first thing I noticed when I walked into this establishment was that it was NOT clean or organized. The selection of nail colors were sparse...and instead of the option of gel nail colors being neatly displayed on a chain (like 100% of all the nail salon I've been to) the colors remained in the bottle and there were papers that you could test the colors on? Which made that whole area a mess! I also noticed the implements used to cut my cuticles, push my cuticles back, etc were taken out of an open cup instead of a sealed package marked "sterilized" which made me feel uneasy (I look for these things being a licensed Aesthetician) Surprisingly, I would have let these things slide if it wasn't for the fact that this place was expensive ($75 for gel manicure and pedicure with a design on one nail) and the service was RUSHED with ZERO hand massage. Also, whenever I've gotten gel nails done, the nail tech will buff my nail down with some light drilling to make the gel color last longer. This was the first time this wasn't done for me. I should say that I've gotten most of my manicures in my previous and current hometowns of LA, Phoenix and Vegas...so maybe all these things are normal to Santa Cruz? But I hope not and doubt it?! One star for the extreme lack of cleanliness and super rushed service of this place. And maybe half a star because everyone was actually very friendly. 3 days after my service, my gel nails are peeling. read more

I had an appointment for 3:45, but wasn't seen until around 4:20. No matter, because my nails came out exactly how I wanted them to. I have been a Tracy's Nails customer up until now, and was looking for a new place to frequent since Tracy's had disappointed me too many a time. I got an acrylic French manicure, and a (regular polish) French pedicure. Bella Nails didn't give any massage, but I would trade the perfect experience to have my nails exactly how I want them any day. I have been coming here for years and love them. On occasion I go someplace else, lured in by Randy decor, or when I am out of town. bI have acrylic and other salons simply do not do a good job. They leave spots where water can form in the nail bed, or they simply fall off. (I have a light coat of acrylic over my natural nails to strengthen.) Needless to say, I keep coming back. Not even once has a nail fallen off or have I had discolored areas where fungus has grown. I always have perfect 10, even when I wait longer than I should to have my nails done. read more

Bella's recently reopened after the March shelter in place and the staff has done an amazingly efficient job in making their wonderful salon safe! They have a great process for sign-in, temp check, sanitizer, plexiglass shields, station separated more than 6 ft.. RUSHED is the word.. not even relaxing. Not worth giving a tip! Michelle did my nails ang literally just cleaned my nails, scrubbed feet for few mins, rinsed, rubbed feet with towel for few mins then painted them. That's it. Compared to the other lady that did my sister's nails that started at the same time as me but finished 20mins after Michelle let go of my feet! To think that they were not even so busy that time!! I went here for the first time about a week ago for a pedicure and gel polish manicure. I usually go to a great place by my office in San Jose, but I thought I would give a local place a try. The massage chairs are definitely showing their age, but are still comfy enough. The woman who did my manicure was very nice and she did a respectable job. The woman who did my pedicure cut my nails extremely short, enough so that one of my big toes actually bled! I have had monthly pedicures for years, and I have never ever bled during any other pedi. I received no apology, nor did anyone ask if I was okay. When she went on to file the nails, it hurt really badly because my nails were cut so short. I requested the deluxe pedi which included and scrub and a really awesome oil treatment (smelled like a eucalyptus blend) with massage. My feet and legs were happily tingly for a while! The polish and design work were pretty good, though the designs on my two big toes are not matching. Close to the end of my service, a woman who had scheduled an appointment came in. Since the women had taken several walk-ins, the customer with an appointment was left to sit waiting. She indicated that she had to leave by a certain time due to classes, but she still hadn't been started when I walked out. My biggest issue was that it was a rather uncomfortable environment. Another customer (apparently a regular) and the woman in charge were jokingly rude to each other. They were flipping the bird at each other and everything! I appreciate that it was in jest, but it is definitely not what I am used to. The cost was pretty much the same as what I pay at my regular spot, but the whole experience was way under par comparatively. I don't think I will be back. read more

Today was my first time trying this nail salon. I was in desperate need of a fill and my normal place could not take me. First off, I have never had a fill and gel polish in under an hour. This one took 40 minutes! That should have been my first clue. Less than 3 hours later, I looked down at my nail and realized the polish was bubbling up and coming off! Would never coming back here. Not only they're rude but also cut me and act like nothing happened. So I came in for a fill and fix one of my broken nails. She starting to use a clipper and clip away and start digging in to try to get the nails out and it's super painful . So I asked her if she can just soaked it with acetone so it'll be easier and less damage to my nails. Not only she rolled her eyes but then decided that she gonna charge me another two dollar for it. After I paid, she proceeded to start talking badly about me and my friend while unaware that I do speak Vietnamese, Total shocked and then not only that she also starting to become rough to my nails. Came here on a few recommendations from customers. You can walk right in. They have many manicurists here, so you do not have to wait hardly at all. They all seemed very friendly and the owner too- you can tell she is the owner, always greeting everyone that walks in and social. How you are suppose to be in this business(I'm a hairstylist so I would know :-) ) I didn't get her name though. I ,for one, are always leary about going into nail salons. Sanitation is what I look for. I'm glad they sanitize the chairs(baths) after every client. and the instruments as well. But I still think we should all bring our own instruments to use. These women are very hard workers and will never turn down any clients, even after hours like I was- There must of been 6-8 people that walked in after I did(I got there at 6pm) they close at 6:30. But they will still honor them when I was done. I had a mani/pedi and was done in about 1hr 10min. And $30 for both, plus $5 rhinestones they put on my toes. Very inexpensive. I have a manicurist at one of the salons I work at and she is $30 just for the pedicure.(but thats Saratoga) Update- Unfortunately my rhinestones aren't lasting, its been 4 days and some have come off already, and forget the fingers, the polish lasted 2-3 days. Oh well- I knew it would being in water all the time. I'm not into Gelish or shallac- you have to soak your nails in acetone for 15 min or so just for it to come off! Not a great place to treat yo self. First, the ambience is lacking. Decorations are shabby and sparse. I, like most people go to a nail salon to relax so I could go for some soothing music or some good juicy reality TV. Neither of those were offered. Next, the way to choose your nail color is by chance. What I mean by that is that they don't offer samples of the colors on a sample kit that almost all of the nail places I've been to offer. With that being said, you have to go off the name of the color and the small color that is **printed** on the bottle which absolutely can vary in comparison to the actual color. I won't return. I rarely get my nails done, so if I'm going to go somewhere, it needs to be welcoming and at least able to clearly show me my color options read more

Once it was our turn the ladies were friendly and chatty. We were both very satisfied with our pedi's, which took about 35 mins. and only cost $20 each. I got a gel pedicure the other day. The place is clean, staff is friendly, and the experience was great. My gel was adhered to my cuticles, however, and the polish peeled off easily the next day. I paid $60 with tip for a gel pedicure and eyebrow waxing. With the pedicure lasting only one day, totally not worth it. I'm so busy as a grad student, I haven't had time to return too. Most places will redo the gel polish when this happens, but I hardly had the time to get it done in the first place. Hoping this review helps others like me. read more

Kinda disappointed. I'm writing this review as I'm sitting in the pedicure chair. I came in for a mani/pedi just becuase I didn't feel like driving down to capitola to my normal nail salon. The entire time I've been here, the technicians have been talking amongst eachother more than they've talked to their customers. It's pretty obvious they're also talking about the girl in the pedi chair next to me since everyone is looking back N forth at her and laughing and talking more. My manicure looks pretty bad and only took about 10 minutes. Rushed to say the least. I decided on this salon by the reviews here on yelp. This was my first time coming to this nail salon as my other nail place was packed and I was desperate. First, the place is crowded and dirty, but like I said, I was desperate. The tools seemed to be clean, however, it looks like they haven't dusted in years. The woman who did my nails did them so quickly, I didn't know what hit me. It takes over an hour for me to get them filled with gel color and she took less than 45 minutes. She slapped everything on like she was sprinting to the finish line. She took no time and care in making sure things look good. After I left, I looked and noticed several small mistakes that could have been fixed but she just didn't give two craps to take pride in her work. The real clincher for me is their tipping policy of only cash for the tip. This seals the deal for me in not going back. I hate when establishments do this. I'm speculating here but I have a feeling they do this so they don't have to pay taxes on their tips. Not okay with me. Plus, I never have cash so to be chastised to "bring cash next time" while I'm wrapping up my transaction, is unacceptable. We will see how my nails hold up over the next two weeks. NEVER AGAIN! So this is actually 2 reviews in one. I went there about 10 years ago for an acrylic manicure and after 5 days my acrylics turned YELLOW. I didn't go back for a refund and just decided to let it go. Recently, I went there again thinking, "Maybe there have been some changes, maybe it's not as bad as I thought." I WAS TERRIBLY WRONG. My sister and I went there because our regular go-to favorite was closed and saw that Bella Nails door was still open. I really wanted to relax with a pedicure. At the same time, I was treating my sister out for a manicure as a belated birthday present. When I walked in, it still looked really busy. A woman called from across the room asking what services I needed. Mani/Pedi I replied. Women looked like they were finishing up so I asked, "Are you guys still open?" The same woman replied telling me, "It's okay." I told her it's okay we can go but she INSISTED that we stay. So my sister and I were waiting, hanging around for about 5 minutes when I finally asked what time they closed. I forgot what she said but I remember it was an hour and half after closing when I looked at their clock. I told them again that it was okay, we could leave but the same woman INSISTED that I stay. So, we stayed. Although the woman did a nice job on my polish, she shortened my service. I didn't feel relaxed (which is what you go there for right??) and didn't get the callus removal that I desperately needed. BUT WAIT, that wasn't even the worse part... the other woman who did my sisters (13 y/o) manicure was RUSHING. As soon as they sat her down I felt something was VERY wrong. She was running back and forth a couple of times to get the items that she needed. There ended up being a second woman who started her other hand at the same time (which STILL didn't look relaxing whatsoever). One arm was up in the air while the other was down low. My sister was respectful and didn't say a word until the end which I COMMEND her for, but I wanted to CRY FOR HER when I saw her fingers when we walked out. Four to five fingers were bleeding. Let alone the fact that they some sort of rubbing alcohol on top of her open wounds which irritated them more. There is NO WAY the woman doing her nails didn't see what she did.... My sister's nails had uneven coats of polish, some of her nails weren't fully covered in polish, AND she was in pain for the next 3 days. I insisted MULTIPLE TIMES that we could've left. It was understandable since they were technically closed. If I had known they needed to rush to get the services done, then I would've walked away immediately. They should know/realize when to turn customers away. Not only my pocket, but more importantly, our comfort had suffered just so that they can make their extra buck. I ended up venting to my boyfriend later that evening and he mentioned that he just saw in the news that nail technicians don't get paid over time, they are only paid with the tips they receive. In reply to the woman R.R, giver of one star from Salinas. They only put your nails under UV if they use shellac ie Gellish. It would do no good with regular polish that needs air to dry. I recommend you try them again. I promise you will be pleasantly surprised. Ask for Mai to do your pedi. She speaks perfect English and will give you the best pedicure you've ever had, promise. read more
