Italian food never lets me down! It was right next to a hotel so we were kinda not expecting something special. But after reading some good reviews, we decided to try it out. I was mainly attracted by the abundance of variety on the menu and the complimentary garlic knots. We each tried different items. I personally love tortellini pasta and was not let down by this dish at all. The veal was very tender. Although the pasta was not your typical spaghetti pasta for the two veal dishes, which was strange, the meat was tender and flavorful. Although the sauces could use a bit more sauce. Always good food & service....typically order to go. Portion size of food dishes is good.

Ordered takeout and extra bread. They are obviously serving 2 day old bread as it was so hard we ended up feeding it to out dogs. Nasty. The Mussels were hard and they were not fresh as well. It is the last time we eat there. I spent almost a $100 on this take out meal!!!! read more

Do not eat here if you have food allergies! Asked for the dish to be made without the sweet peppers. Sent it back when could clearly see pieces of the peppers in the dish. Was told it was bits of Mariana. It was a chicken dish in a wine butter sauce. Marinara should not have been near this. Waitress offered to have them remake the dish. I just switched plates with my companion. I ended up having a great deal of gastric distress and now sliding into a migraine from only 4 bites of that dish. our food is crap. Ordered lasagna 2 hrs ago to go. Came early and picked up. Ordered a dinner salad as well with Italian dressing. 10 minutes later dove in to salad and WTF! Some ice burg lettuce with a lone wimpy slice of tomato? Thats it! I paid money for this, it was not gratis! No olive, no pepercini, no croutons? Just a lump of lettuce with a stupid tomato slice. Took a bite of the lasagna, and was rotally underwhelmed. When my kids were teen agers they would put this to shame. To top the entire thing off, I asked for an order of garlic bread. I went to Bella Sera a to celebrate my friend's ordination. It was a momentous and special event and so they had to serve a group of about 30 people or more. That is not an easy task! Everything came out in a timely manner. Everything was fresh, piping hot and very well-made. I think this is the first place I've been to where the food tastes just as good as it does in Italy! My friend has been after me to try Bella Sera but I've resisted--just another faux Italian place with a limited and bland menu, thought I. Well, I thought wrong. The menu is extensive (click "Our Menus" on their website for the dinner menu) and the food was anything but bland. For those who want "authentic" (and the jury's out on exactly what that means for any restaurant outside of Italy), you won't find it here. Yes, you'll find just about every classic dish, and then some. But the flavors, spicing, etc.; nope, not there. So why five stars--4.5, actually? I'm taking into account that the food is not to be reviewed for its authenticity, but for what it is--Americanized. We both ordered from one of the "Specialties" menu and we ordered two of the standards--Chicken Marsala for her, Chicken Parmigiana for me. Both dishes came with a salad (sorry, no photo--I was too hungry), hers with honey mustard dressing, mine with bleu cheese. We were served a basket of complimentary hot garlic knots and we opted for a side of garlic and olive oil (plus herbs) for $1.99; well worth the cost. The salads were of a decent size, all ingredients were fresh and crisp, the tomatoes ripe. Both dressings deserve mention. The honey mustard, which I usually find too sweet or too tangy/astringent was excellent and very well balanced. The bleu cheese, wonder of wonders, I could actually taste it. I've had dressing that ranged from tasteless to strong and bitter. But this, as Goldilocks said, was "just right." And those garlic knots--a tad light on the garlic but buttery and soft with just enough yeasty flavor to make them interesting. A dip in the oil--YUM! (I added a bit of Parmesan to it with excellent results.) Our entrees arrived and looked very appetizing; both portions were large. The Chicken Marsala was correct, ingredient-wise, but there was not a distinct Marsala flavor. Despite that, it was very good and my friend gobbled hers up. My Chicken Parmigiana was huge which usually indicates it will be tough and dry and coated with copious amounts of breading. Well, I was wrong on both accounts. The chicken (breast meat) was tender and moist and the breading was just enough to add another flavor component--nicely done. So I took a bite and encountered a sweet tomato sauce. I don't like it sweet, was spoiled in Italy where marinara is on the tangy side. But as I ate, the sweetness dissipated as my palate adjusted. By the end of the meal, I quite liked it. The balance was excellent but I would have appreciated a slightly heavier hand with the oregano and basil but not enough to warrant a lower rating. So where did it lose a half a star? That lack of Marsala flavor in my friend's pasta and a rocky start in service. Our waitress seemed to be impatient with us; with such an extensive menu and being it was my first time there, more patience on her part would have been desirable. But once we had passed that hurdle and the orders were in, her service was excellent. The manager (owner?) was very friendly and genuinely appreciative of our business. So I'll be back, working through that exhaustive menu. If I find anything that stands out, good or bad, I'll update my review. So if you're passing by Kerrville on IH-10, hop off the highway and drive a few blocks to Bella Sera which is located by a Best Western hotel. You'll be glad you did. read more

My daughter and I unfortunately visited this restaurant yesterday while attending the Kerrville Folk festival. When you first walk in, the man sits behind the counter, doesn't look at you when telling you, "Sit where you want" in a rude tone. No "Welcome" or anything, just sit where you want. When he came to where we sat and handed us menus, I said Thank You, and he just walked off. It wasn't just us either. After sitting a couple behind us, the lady asked, "Is he mad" The food does not make up for the horrible service. He makes it very clear that he doesn't want to be there and acts like he's doing you a favor. Never again! read more

An odd experience. The interior and music gave me a good first impression. The garlic knots were astounding and the lone bright spot. The chicken parmigiana was underwhelming; the breast was tough and too thick. It was accompanied by a cheap angel hair with lousy, sickly-sweet sauce. There was no salad fork so you better keep your fork after you eat your salad. The quality of the food reminded me of a cafeteria in college but with fine dining prices. My meal would have been decent if it was 9.99 rather than 13.99 and that is one of the cheapest dishes on the menu. read more

Stopped for the night in Kerrville, was really hungry as hec. The lady at the hotel said this place was pretty good. Being from Brooklyn I am always Leary of small town Italian places. This place was really good. I had the Veal Parm, with ziti and a side salad. The server was good, the food served promptly, and the taste and quality were wonderful. Let me start off by saying that the food here is fantastic. Everything I've tried has been wonderful. I would eat the pink sauce with a spoon out of a bucket if that was an option. Unfortunately the staff here is horrendous. I've never been here and had a decent experience with the staff. Every single time when I've gone to check out I have been ignored or talked down to. I would eat here more often but it really ruins the meal when there are consistently rude employees that can't give you the time of day. I honestly can't remember another restaurant that I haven't tipped at but this place frequently doesn't receive any tips from me because of how awful the staff is. We've started only getting food from here to go and what little interaction you have with the folks up front is equally as bad. read more

We were a party of 5. We got seated and served quickly and efficiently. I got the combo which is was a variety of lasagna, canolli, and ravioli. Came on a plate as one large mass with lots of mozzarella and red sauce. The red sauce was basically tomato and onion flavors. The entire plate was only one note. Got bored quickly with the lack of flavor. Another person had chicken on salad. He said it was good but not great. The spaghetti with meat sauce was so so The calzone had ham, small pieces of sausage and mozzarella. Also just ok. The appetizer brucetta was interesting. Had a layer of salad under and was good. The side Caesar salad was very good. The other salad s were so-so- just lettuce with one slice of tomato. First off If you are trying to avoid or evencut down on your bread intake don't come here !! Absolutely amazing hot bread garlic subtle but present.. The side salads could be a bit bigger but quality is the standard one would expect and very fresh.The dishes have generous portions and well made traditional sauces. I order mine with light sauce. We were in Kerrville for just one night so we decided on Bella Sera for dinner in our hotel room. Of course things are extremely limited at this time due to the coronavirus so we ordered takeout. When I arrived at the restaurant the staff was very friendly and our food was already prepared. I was a little shocked at the price though. It was about $75 for our dinner. That was for three adult entrées (two of which were salads) and one kids entrée. After I paid I asked if they had plastic cutlery for us to take back to the hotel... She said no. She explained that they were all out but that I could probably buy some at the gas station or get some from the hotel we were staying at. I understand that things are difficult during this time because of the amount of takeout deliveries but I feel like they should be responsible for serving patrons appropriately. We were in town with friends for the weekend. Of course I used Yelp to see what the local restaurants looked like. I cruelly suggested This restaurant based on the reviews. There were a couple with minor negative comments but the majority were good. So glad we tried this place. The reviews don't do it justice. There was six of us at 7pm on a Friday night and they got us right in. Our waitress was great and brought out there garlic rolls right off the bat. They were awesome! I ordered the linguine with white clam sauce. Others ordered lasagna, fettuccini carbonara and spaghetti. My linguine was amazing! Great taste, piping hot when it came out and great clam sauce. From the looks of everyone else's plates - which were wiped clean - I think everyone else enjoyed theirs too! I would even say their prices are reasonable too! The bacon and egg breakfast was made with love (this chef knows how to prepare the tastiest of even the basics). My husband both remarked how great to bite into a crisp and chewy, thick slab of bacon! ( Yes, i am talking the grease factor- just enough to mix gloriously with our two eggs which were cooked to perfection - his over medium, mine over easy) our cheerful waitress made our sitting even nicer.
