smoked salmon linguini, garlic knots with marinara, tomato basil soup on their outside patio
    Ilona S.

was looking for a cute place to eat outside for lunch and this place delivered! their patio is so cute, with vines covered with fairylights. It was a gorgeous spring day and the part shade/part sun was very appreciated. Food: tomato basil cream soup (of the day) was delicious. Garlic knots with marinara sauce I didn't care for but my husband enjoyed it. I absolutely LOVED the lunch special of linguini with house smoked salmon. The salmon had a good smokey taste to it, was moist without tasting fishy and there was plenty of it!! The white garlic sauce with sundried tomato complimented the salmon perfectly. Paired with a glass of white wine... oh yeah, got bread with garlic butter too... oh my... what an excellent lunch. service was attentive and friendly.

This place was really cute, bartenders were friendly and made excellent drinks. We ordered the meatballs and those were good too, homemade with fresh bread and butter on the side. The icing on the cake was coming into the bar through the saloon doors. If you are in southern Oregon, Jacksonville isn't too far, about 15 minutes from Medford.

Bella Union is my favorite weekend brunch spot in Jacksonville. The service is always top notch, cocktails are perfection, the food is delicious & perfect for sharing. I always sit outside, they make sure it's comfortable year round with heaters &/or fans. For my fellow gluten free auto-immuners out there, they will toast GF sandwich bread for you & bring it out with their fancy butter so you can enjoy carbs with your friends while you sip for cocktail & wait for your food to arrive. Love this spot!

The Caesar salad was good and overall our experience was very positive. Friendly service and a nice cool bar are for a very hot day. There's a very nice outdoor patio bit for us the AC was the way to go. There's a nice variety of tap beer too.

Absolutely delightful place in old historic Jacksonville. Deceiving from the outside. Inside is spacious, clean and very inviting. Beautiful outdoor patio as well. Good selection of beer, wine and alcohol. Great for sports enthusiasts in the bar, or if you're looking for a nice dinner the dining room or patio. Lunch special of grilled ham, turkey and Swiss was served on cranberry bread which added an extra flavor later; Cesar salad side was tasty and fresh and a good sized portion. The basil berry drink was a nice finisher to a tasty lunch. Staff were super nice and service was quick. Definitely a must try if you're in the area

October 5, 2024 - Jacksonville, OR We were walking through Jacksonville, looking for a place to eat lunch, and we just happened upon Bella Union. We stepped in, and were greeted immediately. Our hostess asked if we wanted to eat outside on the patio, which we decided was perfect, especially after she told us they had outside heaters. We walked through the bar area to get to the patio. The bar looks like a fun place to hang out...for another time. Today it is all about lunch. We were seated at a table, and we noticed immediately that the patio was covered with a vine bush. It wasn't long before we realized there was a bit of bird activity going on above our heads as vine leaves floated down on our table. Kind of charming, but also I couldn't help but hope that only leaves were going to come from the birds above. We ordered a meatball sandwich to split. The sandwich came with a side salad, and we ordered one extra side salad. They served the split sandwich on two separate plates, which ALWAYS earns extra points for the restaurant in my book. The meatball sandwich was delicious, and the salad was fresh and served with a house blue cheese vinaigrette dressing that was wonderful. Service was quick and friendly, and I loved the outdoor patio seating. If I return to Jacksonville, I will definitely stop here again.

Sounds like a change in the previous menu. The Mediterranean salad my husband had with chicken he said was really good. They had some tasty white bread for the table. My Mom and I got the BBQ pulled pork which had a great smoky flavor almost didn't need the sauce. Really enjoyed. I opted not to get a side with mine and they gave me an al a cart price which was nice. My Mom got a salad as her side and it was huge!! I do wish they had fries or tots as an option for a side. Sat outside and they had heaters and coverage for rain. Birds around hoping for a snack but no fries to steal. Cool old building so spend some time reading the signs and looking at pictures. Jacksonville has such a cool historical feel.

I surprised my friend with this place for her birthday during our weeklong trip to Oregon. I knew from the pictures that the atmosphere was going to be good and I was not disappointed! We had a very attentive server, even though it was a Saturday evening and busy. The food was amazing! We had the lasagna and the tortellini and meatballs. We also ordered a bottle of wine to split that we did not finish and the server let us take it home :) a great experience!

Bella Union Italian Restaurant, Jacksonville, OR - October 5, 2024 After exploring the cute little town of Jacksonville, we decided to come here for lunch. They have a nice bar with indoor seating as well as a nice covered outdoor patio. Part of the outdoor patio has a vine bush growing on top of it. We split a meatball sandwich and ordered an extra side salad with a house blue cheese vinaigrette dressing. The split came on two plates, always a nice touch! The ambiance and service were outstanding and everything was really tasty.

A Disappointing Experience from Start to Finish. Save Yourself the Trouble…read more We were a group of 12 celebrating a friend's birthday and had been genuinely excited to try this restaurant. Unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in recent memory. The service was a disaster before we even sat down. Two members of our party, including a 92-year-old woman, arrived first and stood at the entrance for five full minutes without a single staff member greeting or even acknowledging them, and the hostess walked by them twice. When the rest of us arrived, I politely asked the hostess if we could pull over two empty chairs (that were sitting unused right next to our table) to accommodate our group of 12 (I made a reservationfor 10). What followed was baffling. She said she needed to check, then came back and completely ignored my request and half of our party were left standing patiently waiting. I then asked the sous chef directly, same runaround, but this time he chastised me for making the request. My boyfriend asked a third staff member. Also ignored. It took three separate requests before they finally brought out chairs from the back. The condescension throughout this whole ordeal was palpable. The service at the table was equally poor. Our server never introduced herself, never told us her name, and never asked if we needed anything, she just silently poured water and walked away. When we ordered six sparkling waters, only three arrived. When I asked again, she disappeared into the kitchen and came back to tell us they were out. We also had to ask separately for silverware, it was never brought to the table. The menu was shockingly sparse for a "nice" restaurant, three appetizers, two salads, and three entrees (lamb, duck, and market fish). The brisket we saw at another table? Not on the menu because they'd already run out. One of the appetizers was literally store-bought Lay's potato chips with crème fraîche. At a high-end restaurant. I'll let that speak for itself. The entrées were the final letdown. We asked what the fish was and our server had to go ask the chef, it was snapper. Nine of us ordered it. It arrived in small bowls that appeared designed to disguise just how tiny the portion was, think one fish stick's worth of fish. It was clearly a normal portion divided among multiple plates to cover the demand. I had three bites and left hungry. The lamb eaters in our group didn't rave either. The one bright spot, the Johan wine was superb. For the price point and the promise of this restaurant, this was an absolute failure in hospitality, food quality, and basic service. I would not return and cannot recommend it.

After we walked in, it took about five minutes before our server acknowledged us. She brought two glasses of water for the adults but said she didn't have small cups for the kids, so our two children had to share one plastic cup. A little later, we saw her carrying two small plastic cups to another table, which was confusing. The kids' menu also listed milk as a drink option, but when we asked for milk, she told us they don't carry it. The lobster cakes were okay, but my husband's pork chop was overcooked, my salad tasted moldy, and the kids' pizza was terrible. The biggest issue was that our server never came back to check on us after our food was served. Because of that, I didn't have the opportunity to let her know about my salad or ask for a replacement while we were eating. When I asked about a refund for the salad, I was told they couldn't refund it simply because I didn't like it. That was frustrating, especially since I had barely eaten it because it tasted spoiled. Having worked in several restaurants myself, I've always been taught that if a customer is unhappy with a meal and hasn't eaten it, the restaurant should either replace the dish or remove it from the bill. Overall, the service and food quality were both disappointing, and we won't be returning.
